I don't fully understand so this might be a stupid question but, could this work the other way around by putting a picture over the file in the right shape and in a way "painting" an actual picture on the pet?

If you mean using a picture to make a CAS Part (pet clothing), you could do that using any image editor.

If you mean writing a new image into the .householdbinary file so it shows up on the pet when you import it from your library or the gallery, that's an interesting idea and should be possible at least in theory. I can take a look at it!

I meant the second thing cause I think it'd be awesome if you could for instance put starry night by van gogh on your cat without having the need for painting skills.
I hope theory becomes reality in this case!

Is it worth pointing out that if you paint a dog with pointed ears, when you apply the extracted texture to a dog with floppy ears (I don't know the technical terms) the texture does not cover the entire ear but leaves the tips with the underlying fur colour showing?

Thanks, I'll do a little testing and put that in the description - may apply to tails as well. I know the different shapes of ears and tails are mapped differently in uv1 and maybe in uv0 as well.

This is cool, and I was tying to use it so I can use a "custom coat" with the HQ mod. Problem is, it doesn't blend well with the fur. Is there a way to change that? Meaning it's too "flat" so when you put it on, it looks too painted on. I'm pretty new to any type of editing or creating custom content, but I feel like there's a way somehow to give it the effect. I'm really just trying to get my actual cats who I made in game, to work with the HQ mod. Because it apparently doesn't allow for custom coats. They're just completely black. I still appreciate your work on this, and just your work in general. I have used and use many of your mods. Thanks!

What about pets skin, not coat-paint? Over one year wait for default fur.

This was super useful in helping me use a "custom coat" with the HQ Mod! One of the downsides of the HQ mod is that custom pet coats don't work. But by turning the custom pet coat into an accessory I can still have my cat look pretty much the same with the HQ mod. Thanks so much for this!

I'm not really up to par on the terminology of computery stuff... lol - but it sounds cool. I am just an artist - I don't know the tech stuff, but it sounds like we can basically customize pet coats with a png and this will convert it for us to use in game for our pets? Correct? If not, I won't be offended if you say "Nope, dingbat, that isn't what this is at all." Like I said, when it comes to the words of computery files and extensions, I am lost.

Well, yes and no. You can paint a coat on a pet in CAS, save the family to your library, use this tool to convert it to a .png, and use that to make custom pet 'clothing' which will show the coat. You have the right general idea, though!

I know this is years old, but the tool works for extracting werewolf skins as well as pet skins.
Is there a way you could look into writing a new householdbinary so I could put the edited skin (the painting program for werewolves sucks. they took away the mirror tool!) back into my library and be able to upload it?
I'm trying to add my edited skin as a CAS accessory but it keeps showing up on top of other clothes, and it won't upload with the household.

You might have better luck using the edited skin as a skin detail.

It's like a software, not a mod. Just unzip it and run it just like the instructions say.
