Default First Time Running A Resort
I recently moved my household to the Island Paradise world and bought what was a run-down shack of a resort, and before I knew it, this is what it had turned into:

Here are some screenshots of the interior:

Here's the overhead layout:
Ground Floor:

2nd Floor:

3rd Floor:

Ground Floor:
1: Lobby
2: Breakfast area
3: lounge
4: Wedding room
5: Arcade
6: Gym room
7-10: Standard rooms
11: Bar/Club

2nd Floor:
12, 13, and 25: Suites
14-24 and 26: Standard Rooms

3rd Floor:
25, 26, 38, and 39: Suites
27-37: Standard Rooms

All Floors:
X: Elevators/Stairs.

I'm still trying to figure out how to fill the outside area around the pool. So far, it's got a pool with two bars, 3 food stands with some tables, a hot tub, and a live music stage area. I am going to put in more tables and a couple more hot tubs (I've had a few reviews say the hot tub was always crowded, even though I've ever seen anyone in it once).
I also wanted to add a casino area onto it, but I'm not sure where to place it so that it will look right.

The hotel's got a 3.5 star rating, has "Moderate" pricing, and brings in about a $5,500 profit each "cycle".

As seen in some of the images, especially on the 3rd floor, there's some flooding. This was caused by a general lack of maintenance up there, as it seems the maintenance workers don't like elevators, so refused to leave to the 1st floor. After I put in the stairs, they've been up and down them all day!
Guests seem to use both stairs and elevators, so that's nice!

Well, well...
Immediately after posting this and loading the game up, my resort hit 4 stars, fulfilling a wish for everyone in the family!

It's hit 5 stars!
So, I'm thinking about building a new hotel.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions, either for the new hotel or to improve this one?

Since it is your first time running a resort, I will inform you that you don't actually need that many actual rooms for your sims to achieve 5 star rating. You could eliminate an entire floor of rooms to add a casino if you wish. The towers are where most of your guest sims number stats are counted so make sure they are upgraded as high as possible to pack as many in as you can. The tower style you have chosen holds the most. Plants also increase the rating and look of your resort so those might be appropriate. Having a large selection of food items also helps. You must be doing something right if you are having 5 star ratings already, so just experiment with it to see what works and what doesn't.

I know I dont need this many rooms, but I aim for the most realism possible, and I think the large number of rooms helps that.
As for the casino, I'd prefer it being on the ground, as that makes more sense to me.
With the new hotel, though, I think I will build it as a "casino resort", placing the casino itself on the ground floor and building around it. I'm just not sure what style to go with.

I did have one review that I seen that said I needed more landscaping, but the main atrium seemed to suffice.

For the new hotel, I've been thinking of some ideas:
1: Modern (Custom: not using blueprints)
2: Mediterranean
3: Futuristic (using Into The Future content)
4: Bungalow

As for shape, I've thought up 2 styles:
1: Tower with pool area beside it (the building is built like a highrise with little room on each floor, has a pool area beside it, and has a Resort Tower or two either around the pool or adjacent to the building)
2: Wraparound (building has a central courtyard entirely enclosed by the building and the Resort Tower(s))
If I so with 2, I think I may place the courtyard on the 2nd floor with the casino and bars under it (perhaps with windows looking into the pool itself).

There is likely to be a limit on the number of people present on the lot. You might consider that before having tons of rooms.

I believe the limit is 20.
Not sure if that's 20 guests or 20 total.
That said, I still think having a lot of rooms just makes it look better, so I really don't care much how full they are.

nitromon:
I've had several guests check into the custom rooms. There was one night that I had all 4 ground floor rooms, 2 rooms on the 2nd floor (including a Suite room) and a few on the 3rd.
It annoyed the crap out of me that you can not select a specific room; when I would check my own sim in, they almost always got the room nearest the elevators on the ground floor, but I wanted a suite on the top floor! I ended up removing said suite from the rooms list and locking it so only my household could enter it!

SneakyWingPhoenix:
Thanks! I'm honestly not sure exactly how/where to upload it, or exactly what content I used.
I have all expansions, almost all the store content, and nearly a terabyte of custom content (which I then compressed, along with most of the store content, into 10 files and compressed them down to a few gigabytes).
So, at this point, I'm not sure exactly what DLC, Store pack, or mods are required for any of my builds.

Could you please edit your first post to put the pictures in a spoiler tag?

My internet connection was being slow today, and I ended up having the site time out while loading the pictures.

I am Ghost. My husband is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.
