Shiva Lingam statue for your temple.
Version 1.10 (31st of May 2006)
Shiva lingam is the foremost symbol of the hindu god Shiva in his all-pervading, formless, eternal, auspicious etc aspect.
The statue is strictly decorative only, so you can't make your sims
give it worship or any fancy stuff. But it should make a nice little addition to
the smallish collection of various religious items for Sims 2 nevertheless.
WHAT IS NEW?
V1.10 (31st of May 2006)
- Optimized the mesh a bit, resulting in a slightly smaller faces/vertices count (now 446 faces /
356 vertices, used to be 530 faces / 425 vertices)
- Changed the orientation of the object by 90 degrees. The mesh was mistakenly facing the wrong
direction when placing the item in game.
- The mesh itself is now plain color and I made some recolors available featuring the tripundra,
tripundra with bindu and united tripundra with bindu (separate downloads, not included with the
mesh)
- Increased reflectivity of light by a small amount to produce more depth feel.
V1.00 (21st of May 2006)
- Initial release
INSTALLATION:
Move the .package file(s) into \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\ directory or to where
ever your Sims 2 Downloads directory resides on your particular configuration.
OLD VERSIONS:
If you have installed previous versions of this package, DELETE THEM to avoid duplicates appearing
in game.
The files are always in format "shivalingam_v?_??.package" where the question marks symbolize version
numbers, for example: shivalingam_v1_00.package or shivalingam_v1_10.package etc so it shouldn't be
hard to find them even if you haven't sorted your addons in subdirectories.
CATALOGUE LOCATION:
You can find and buy the object in game under DECORATIVE -> STATUES as you can logically expect.
KNOWN PROBLEMS:
On my system I had some trouble with the reflection of light blinking on and off when viewing
the Lingam from different angles, but this is happening also with some other, non-custom, objects.
So it might be a problem with my system / installation, or a bug in Sims 2. If the problem shows
up with other installations as well then the object I cloned this from is probably buggy (the running
wooden statue). But I have no means of verifying this, so feedback would be appreciated.
This is my first Sims 2 object and my first try at 3D modelling / texturing, so there might be some
or many flaws, but so far I haven't encountered any except the one mentioned above.
ABOUT THE RECOLORS I MADE:
I added a few recolors which change the white lines, tripundar, on the face
of the Lingam (the mesh comes now without them). They symbolize
Lord Shiva and are painted on the forehead by his devotees (and also on the
lingam, but not always) Tripundar is usually painted by holy ashes from special
fire ceremony and the ash symbolizes renouncement of the material world.
The style differs a bit in different recolors like it does traditionally but the
meaning is the same. I have put these in separate packages so you can pick
the ones you want to use.
LICENSE:
You may do with this object what ever you please but you may not charge money for it and you may not
charge money for access to this object, it must be free. This also includes all derivations made using
this object as a base.
Faces count 446, Vertices count 356.
For more information about Shiva Lingam, hinduism and Lord Shiva check the free internet encyclopedia
http://Wikipedia.org or search the internet.
Disclaimer: the fancy screenshot with the light effects does not reflect in any
way the actual function of this product, which it has none, and is only
suggestive of the results you might or might not obtain if meditating daily.

This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below for more information.
