Thank you so much! They were in the EP tweaks forum, so I didn't look there, urgh.

I thought I registered at SimsAsylum a long time ago but could not find my login so I recreated a new one. So many good things there, why have I not been using them before now? I appreciate all the help here getting me pointed in the right direction. Maybe I can start up my simdroid colony again. <3

Nirar22 4th Sep 2012 5:08 AM

The SimsAsylum is the best! It is the first place I've ever posted close to 1000 posts on! Amazing number for me. Of course, it also helps that I write so many stories. It's the same reason I have more than 2 posts on MTS now---stories!

@envie if you don't log in for four months, you get dropped to help keep the member list current. As long as you log in every once in a while, you are fine. You don't have to post.

I'm working on my next chapter---had a bit of hold up because I had to write chapters for my other stories, post a few houses/sims and then I patched. I decided to do a full uninstall (via Simswiki) and then reinstalled before I patched. Then I had a bit of an issue with my Routine Machine and Twallan's new mod for it. Finally got that all figured out, so I am good to go for tomorrow. For those of you who have the newer version of MasterController, you can already play with making fairies/werewolves/vampires/genies. I love, love, love the Fairy wings!! I am going to be making lots of fairies!!

Oh bother! I had another question, but thinking about the fairies made me forget all about it. lol

ReyaD 4th Sep 2012 5:45 AM

Knocking on wood (literally) but I patched, updated my mods, went back in game and played just as smoothly as before the patch.

Nirar22 4th Sep 2012 7:00 AM

I'm glad your patching went well Reya!

Okay, I have chapter 2 up: The Daily Grind

Now to get back to reading more Legacy stories. I've really liked all the ones that I have read so far.

I am super excited about tomorrow, I have no idea when the UPS man will show up, but I'll probably be looking every 10 minutes. lol

Lucky. My backup has been copying over for FOUR HOURS.

kadience 4th Sep 2012 7:22 AM

Ten more minutes and I get to install Supernatural. And patch my game... that'll be fun, I hope my game doesn't break this time. ._.

ReyaD 4th Sep 2012 9:33 AM

A wild update appears!

4.16 - The Master http://sarisimsrandomlegacy.blogspo...416-master.html

I liked writing this one. It gave me the "evil glee" buff and I'm still riding it.

GigaRevival 4th Sep 2012 1:57 PM

You are all lucky you have computers that can play the new expansion packs! *jealous glare*

I'm not going to purchase them until I get my new desktop in December/January - so I'll have to live without. I'm excited to hear what you (and the rest of MTS) have to say about them though. Especially seasons. :D

I'm on a roll as far as chapters go and will have another one coming shortly (meaning a few days or so). My computer is on an update rampage thanks to windows - so it will be out of commission until that is effin' done with. 0_o

calisims 4th Sep 2012 4:56 PM

Chapter 7 is up:
http://brannonlegacy.blogspot.com/2...y-ignorant.html

And I'll probably have chapter 8 up today, too, since I'm not working and have a ton of pics.

Envie42 4th Sep 2012 6:24 PM

I'm glad some of you are still writing while holding out for the expansion(s) at a later date. I still need something to read while at work or unable to play Sims haha. Make sure you enable your blogs for mobile viewing format (I'm just learning this stuff) because I'll even read on my ipad while away

Today is the big day, but I probably won't get to try Supernatural out unless I get it early and then stay up super late. I'm patching and updating all the twallan mods, but I have to work this evening and may not get the package in time today to install it as they hold packages in the office at my apt complex and it closes at 7, I won't be home in time =(

Good luck all of you starting today, can't wait to hear about all the silly fairies, werewolves, etc etc... I want to make a family of witches / warlocks a' la Harry Potter style!

Velinde 4th Sep 2012 7:00 PM

Oh my gosh!
#Is stupid
I completely forgot about how I could properly play a witch now. I can finally get myself to Hogwarts. That was one of my 'things' when I first got the game, and I was sad I couldn't use magic. But now I can and I forgot. XD Will probably do something Doctor Who-ish as well. *-*

calisims 4th Sep 2012 7:11 PM

Okay, Chapter 8 is up:

Yeah there's a lot of great Hogwarts stuff out there on the Exchange and CC clothing, etc. I never got interested in it because there just wasn't a way to really have it ingame. There is that spell book podium thing that came with that gothic library pack ages ago, but the spells are pretty limited and the entire thing was buggy / crashy for many. It caused my fountain of youth to quit working entirely until I removed it and got a mod to fix it! I never went back and tried it again after that which is another reason on top of a zillion memory errors I had to give up my beloved Medieval world "Caprice"... maybe now that I use all twallan's great stuff (Overwatch and Error Trap are lifesavers), and they released Supernaturas (fingers crossed its not a buggy mess too) ... just maybe I'll dig out a years old saved game of Caprice and try again with real magic, real fairies and new content! Gah, I spent so many months customizing that world with special CC medieval clothing, hairstyles, etc haha!

Edit: Oh and the Dr. Who thing, definitely! I've already got a sim all lined up to be my evil mastermind warlock who comes to a town and makes his evil lair under some unassuming looking old rundown warehouse or factory and prepares to unleash his wave of doom and zombify the entire town hahaha! :D

Ah! That really really sucks that it went poof. D: How do you edit rabbitholes by the way? O-o Can you? I tried, but it gets angry at me.

Hehe, that's awesome. My brother made a 10th Doctor sim (I just fixed his clothing, otherwise all done by my bro), and I currently have him in one of my save files just because, and sometimes I switch over to make him go tomb-hunting. XD

I'm feeling ever so slightly jealous of all the people getting Supernatural today - why does EA release their games a few days later in this country?

Because EA is a big fat meanyhead. D:
I have to wait until Christmas, so...if you get it before then, you're luckier than me. :P

NutsAndDolts 4th Sep 2012 8:05 PM

I'll get Supernatural sometime next week I guess.

Stuff I learned today:

*if a sim stares out the window, it increases fun.
*if a sim brushes their teeth in a room with music on, they'll bob their heads to the music whilst brushing their teeth.

Haha, I'm learning ever so much about the quirky things animals do too... did you know horses will tap their foot in time with music if you place a radio outside where they can listen to it? Dogs will howl along too.

I knew about the horse dancing thing completely by chance the very first time I ever tried out Appaloosa Plains after Pets came out. I played one household, literally for 1 day, maybe 5 sim days total, and they never left their house because all I wanted to do was play with the animals before I got bored and moved on. That's why I'm having so much fun actually 'playing' a full AP town for my legacy now, all this time later - hah!

In fact, one of the few Sims 3 videos I ever took the time to upload to youtube is of horses dancing to music. If you would like to see it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlOQhGnl2Yo

(I have another of cats woohooing in the doghouse that's even funnier)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uo87uj4qAg&feature=plcp

Those were uploaded way back in Oct 2011 haha. The video quality is really crappy, sorry, I had no idea what I was doing back then.

I completely forgot about those videos until just now, what fun!! It's ironic the town I never played is actually something I recorded on video and forgot about. :P

kadience 4th Sep 2012 10:49 PM

Had to share this picture of Brenna. Ghost chili are funny. xD

This is going to be my new avatar.

CinderEmma 4th Sep 2012 11:53 PM

Tried the console version of the Sims 3 *brain melts* WE ARE SO LUCKY PC PLAYERS XD The multiplayer thing was stupid but fun though XDXDXD
I'm caught up with Melissa and Becky's new one, who should I get to next? (Reading makes the sims withdraw better XD)

calisims 4th Sep 2012 11:56 PM

Hi, Emma! *hugs* If you haven't read Envie's blog yet, give that one a try, it's very funny.

Zokugai 4th Sep 2012 11:57 PM

Definitely Envie's.

If it makes you feel better, I'm not going to have any time to sit down and play it for a couple days, either.

CinderEmma 5th Sep 2012 12:08 AM

*hugs back* I'll start with Envie's then I have NO clue where I was in Cece's, I might have to reread the whole thing XDXDXD
Seriously can't wait until I get my new graphic card, won't play for more then 5 minutes right nooooow XD

ReyaD 5th Sep 2012 12:12 AM

xD Emma, I think you only ever commented on like... my third chapter, so starting from the top might just be a good idea. (It's only 70 chapters... no big deal)

CinderEmma 5th Sep 2012 12:14 AM

To be fair, I've read and not commented before XD (I always forget to! I swear it's not just because I'm lazy XD) But I don't think I got too far anyway.
And it shouldn't be too bad, I'm a fast reader XD I love your writing anyway, makes it a breeze :D

teal_moonshine 5th Sep 2012 12:41 AM

I read and never comment... I feel like a bit of a tool because I would only really be restating everyone else. Please don't hate me...

whitewater 5th Sep 2012 12:41 AM

So if my computer was to randomly shut down after five minutes of game play a possible cause is my graphics card? Since I been having that problem recently, I've taken to reading too. At least I feel slightly productive. Well as productive as simming gets!

calisims 5th Sep 2012 12:45 AM

*hugs teal* You're too nice to hate.

teal_moonshine 5th Sep 2012 1:21 AM

Don't worry about it! It's nice to get page views too. I'm quite the opposite though. I have a hard time reading a chapter and NOT commenting. I can be rather opinionated I guess, haha.

I need to catch up on blogs. But Supernatural... It's just calling my name right now. I'm waiting for Buzzler to update his mods before I patch and install though.

CyyKosis 5th Sep 2012 1:37 AM

Chapter 1.3 -- Girl Time
This chapter focuses mainly on Tailyn and Abella and their interests.

Wanna know a secret? All the Buzzler mods I have (builder stuff, vanishing objects script, scribbler, cleaning for everyone, etc) don't need to be updated. I am playing with them installed just fine now.

The only mod that I had an issue with that I need to track down an update for is a slower social motive decay for pets from the sims asylum. Trying to play with that installed caused my game to make the UI disappear once I chose a household. Take that out and I am good to go. And Twallan has updated everything already too.

Just a quick post to show my version of Wolf Roman. I tweaked him just a little bit, I kept him as a werewolf in my game. I've never actually uploaded pics here, so let's see how it works out---

calisims 5th Sep 2012 2:04 AM

Nice! He makes a fine werewolf!

Oh, really?! I'm so installing SN Right Now! Thanks for letting me know heaven!

Also, Wolf Roman. *swoon*
...That is all.

teal_moonshine 5th Sep 2012 2:25 AM

My SN is (supposedly) meant to be shipped out today sometime... My luck would mean it won't be shipped til end of the week/somehow my order got lost...

CyyKosis 5th Sep 2012 2:29 AM

I'm currently backing up my mods folder... (30.2 Gb I think I have a problem!!!!!) It's going to take over an hour! Then patching *cringes* My game is here and waiting... I should have done this last night >.<

ReyaD 5th Sep 2012 2:33 AM

Teal: Mine only JUST left Ontario this morning... it was supposed to leave last Friday. ><

... Nirar, Melissa, do you guys mind if I copy that idea and use Wolf as part of a werewolf pack? I plan on keeping as few of the original Moonlight families as I can cause EA sims always get on my nerves.

Also someone convince me that I will regret platinum blonde fairies. I use that colour too often.

teal_moonshine 5th Sep 2012 2:36 AM

Just claim it as white hair and it's all good?

Also: Just had a mental picture of Morgan Hemlock as this unwilling fairy... But her name tends to lean her being a witch... That's what she'll be if I ever lose the Hemlock save...

Buckley 5th Sep 2012 2:44 AM

30.2Gb?! Wow! With my store content, I'm at almost exactly 5Gb, I think. But I use CC magic so I don't really know how to check, lol. Good luck with your patching Maddie! I decided to finish up my next chapter before I install, cause, you know. I'm a wimp.

Cece, I like your platinum blonde Simmies, but I'm a blonde so I guess I'm a bit partial to that color.

teal_moonshine 5th Sep 2012 3:14 AM

A horse the Hemlock's own just pleaded for Jesse's life... And won...

That's nothin' - you'll flip when you hear I have over 100Gb of stored game saves, custom content, downloaded lots, worlds and everything else imaginable. No joke, I think I'm around 85Gb on my second hard drive of just old saved stuff. I can't bring myself to delete or get rid of anything. I'm like... like... a Sims 3 HOARDER!!

Edit: PS: I'm a sad simmer tonight. I just got home from work and the UPS guy left one of those dreaded little sticky notes on my apt door that I wasn't here to receive my package from Amazon.com. *CRY*

So it looks like I won't be installing it tonight. I realize a lot of you have to wait a lot longer so I'm trying not to be too much of a baby! haha.

Edit2: Sorry Heaven for the double posting, I'm being too excited tonight!

Hi, nice to meet a real Emma! I love the name

Also, Heaven, I responded in the replies on my blog, but incase you don't get back to check it, here:

Quote:
Easy to get, I found the creator doing a search on the Exchange. The "Gray Wolf" that is Ember Flare in my story is the top recommended download for 'wolf' ... here he is!

http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail...assetId=4690130

That creator is quite good, take a look at some of their other exotics! (Maybe even where zokugai got the zebra!)

The white and smoke color wolves are also there by that same creator.

heaven 5th Sep 2012 3:40 AM

Envie, please watch the double-posting. If no one has responded since your previous post and you want to reply to someone just hit reply, copy the quote, back out of that, and edit your first post to add in the next one.

It's more to do with HOW it's dying after 5 minutes, it's jerky, lagging, and freezes half the time and crashing the other half. I'm getting the graphics card anyway, so I'm just SAYING it's the graphics card and not wanting to think of anything else. Because I've tried everything else I can think offff XD Well, I'm still avoiding this really long questionairre that one of the mods recommended because I do feel it's the graphics card, and I'm getting it earlier then my birthday (Oct 1st)

I love my name too though I don't like my full name, Emma-Lee, seriously just drives me nuts because EVERYBODY pronounces it Emily. *bangs head against the wall*

Nirar22 5th Sep 2012 4:24 AM

Reya, I don't mind, he's not really my sim. But his looks and name said werewolf to me, even though I really wanted a Fairy king. So for the moment I am playing with a werewolf married to a fairy. I'll do a fairy king another day.

While I like Moonlight Shores--it is in desperate need of some remodeling. After I'm done playing around with it, I will probably take it into CAW and change some things. It feels small.

I remembered one of the questions I wanted to ask, and I thought I'd better ask before I forget again. I rolled couple for my first generation, but does it have to stay that way? Can one of them die? Uh---on purpose. I have an idea in mind, I haven't decided on it yet, but I think it would make a good story.

Thanks!

@Envie--sorry you missed the UPS guy.

My goodness. You should have never linked me. Now I am downloading at least half of their "improved" breeds! Thank you!

Nah, Spot is this guy, as a female. And I think I changed the body shape, and Spot's mane is black with white highlights, not white with black.

http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=459407

Envie42 5th Sep 2012 5:58 AM

@ heaven: Glad you like that creator's stuff - I was really impressed and yes, their 'improved' breeds (that doberman is spectacular!) of dogs are so well done. I have to say, what little I messed around with the layers and shadings in the detailed advanced pet colorings left me completely frustrated, so anyone who has the patience to sit there tweaking those sliders and color layers has my respect.

@zokugai: Thanks for the link Zoku! I love Spot...truly love her

It's not really necessary, though. The zebra pattern is a marking that comes with the game.

AJH 5th Sep 2012 9:22 PM

My copy of supernatural is due to ship tomorrow and I'm telling myself that it doesn't matter that it won't arrive until Friday or Saturday because I won't get a chance to play until Saturday anyway!

CinderEmma 6th Sep 2012 12:37 AM

I can't wait to see everybody's legacies with Supernatural added I need Showtime still, I'll probably ask for Supernatural for Christmas XD Graphic card for my birthday, will buy SHT (XD Still makes me laugh) myself in November, and Supernatural for Christmas. Then I'll be caught up?
Wait...WHEN DOES SEASONS COME OUT? *brain explodes from being so behind simwise*

Envie42 6th Sep 2012 2:37 AM

Yay my copy just got delivered!!!

I'm going to spend tonight installing and getting it up and running / making sure all twallan's mods are up to date since I patched two days ago and removed them all, I haven't wanted to play at all... cannot bring myself to try and play without them even if I can stand going without CC. I'll probably dink around with the town they give you and fairies, werewolves etc for a couple of days before going back to the sanity of my plain and simple legacy story haha. (I get bored and bounce around a lot)

PS: Seasons comes out in November. I don't know the exact date. I know the two EPs are pretty much back to back, so about the time I'm bored with fairies and all the magical stuff, we'll have snow, and rain and swimming in the ocean...YAY!

Buckley 6th Sep 2012 3:34 AM

Is it weird that the first thing I do after installing a new expansion pack is check out the hair and clothes? Lol, but I was pleasantly surprised this time. I like several of the hairstyles! I forgot to look at the non-adult options though. I need to do that.

Yay, glad you got your copy Envie! And Ali and Emma, I admire your patience! I was getting cranky just having to wait for the release date, haha.

Seasons comes out November 13th in the U.S., I believe. But don't quote me on that!

teal_moonshine 6th Sep 2012 3:38 AM

I look at hair and clothes first too... Then, seeing as I get bored easy, I go back to my legacy and hope to see some stuff in play

I'm Canadian, but that's the same diff with release times XD
I haven't been able to PLAY the sims at all sinceeeeee, let's see, it's been since June? Maaaaaybe July, but probably June. Stupid graphics card, the computer guy LIED when he said my computer was compatible with Sims 3. Anyway, my patience is wearing XDXDXD But I've convinced my BF to get me Supernatural for my birthday, so I'll have werewolves and zombies in my game soon :DDDD And mom's in charge of the graphics card (And yes, my techy BF told her which one to get)
And WOW, all the good stuff is just going BAM BAM here :D
And I usually check out the town and make a new sim with the new hair/clothing first. This time I'll be making a legacy during this time, I'll have a hard time not making EVERYTHING supernatural, as I want to do an edgy soap opera-y legacy XD Not too rushy or anything, but maybe if there's enough plot twists, it'll keep me interested? *shrugs*

Is it weird that the first thing I do after installing a new expansion pack is check out the hair and clothes? Lol, but I was pleasantly surprised this time. I like several of the hairstyles! I forgot to look at the non-adult options though. I need to do that.

I do the same thing. Though I was disappointed this time with some of the options. However, there are a few I like. And others that I will never use in a million years. :P

Installing SN, wish me luck.

-sighs- I'm going to have to reroll so many generations...I can't get away with not including SN in this storyline.

Oh but the Snickerson story just BEGS for Supernatural additions and your storytelling is fabulous, you have to do it!!

Oh, with my future storyline I'm pretty much required to.

Also, WOOHOO MY GAME DIDN'T EXPLODE OR DELETE MY LEGACY OR BSoD MY COMPUTER.

ReyaD 6th Sep 2012 10:05 AM

I am so bloody jealous of ALL OF YOU right now. (Well, at least the ones with Supernatural)... but hey, I managed to pull off what I wanted with just CC and camera tricks. Sorry Morph, no wings for you.

Ah, right, new rolls for SN, I'm not expecting my copy until Monday. And I've been busy here and not really thinking much ahead.
My understanding is there is a new rabbithole career for fortune teller that has two branches, a real psychic and a con artist (yay for that). If anyone can confirm that I can add that to the standard jobs list right away.
As always, if anyone has any ideas for new goals etc to go with this ep, please post them. So far we have resisted ever forcing supernatural lifestates on anyone and I think we should continue with that.

mimi250 6th Sep 2012 2:25 PM

Hi everybdoy

After letting my sims down for a long time (I was so exhausted and disgusted by lags and glitches after Pets was released) I'm back on this challenge thread for supernatural.. My game is far more playable now (thanks to mods creators) and I'm waiting for my copy of SN for the next week too. I'll be waiting the challenge update in order to start a new family (I hope supernatural sims will be allowed to be created in CAS, I would love to create a fairy and a witch in first generation, but if it's only allowed by breeding I'll obey the rules of course)..

I won't create any blog online, I'll just read the awesome stories of challengers and follow the topics of this thread..

Hugs to Calisim, NutsandDolts and the old and news challengers ..

There is a summary of this EP here: http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sims_3:_Supernatural.. I haven't read everything yet but maybe you'll find an answer for new careers and new goals.. I'll take the time to read it carefully in the evening, in order to think about new goals or rules

But until then...Dance monkies, dance!!

Edie (orange eyes) and Mara (yellow eyes) and Lucas. Lucas is adopted, but I have no problem with him as heir. It was being weird though, I'd go in an edit the vanilla adopted child, then it would have a freak out and change him SO I think he's a clone of Foster Emnity, but I changed him to a ranga/minor facial structure/could be a mix

NutsAndDolts 6th Sep 2012 2:33 PM

Oooh. Con artist. NICE. I don't have Supernatural yet, but I'm eager to test this stuff out.

But yeah, it's not really a challenge when everyone is immortal or can summon money in really cheap ways. Unfortunately a lot of expansion packs and EA store content make it just super super easy. x.x For example, I played with the cauldron thing from the store, and it conjured a vast range of random collectibles, such as rare gems. It seems like witches themselves have a similar feature, with a conversion spell they learn at LEVEL FLIPPIN' ONE.

I think we should re-word the rules a bit. You guys know how it basically says you can make money any way you want, as long as it's not covered under a career type you haven't rolled for that sim? I think we should have it say that you're only allowed to make money through the activities of the career you rolled, plus the exceptions we already have (money from properties owned, teens having part time jobs, using the telescope, all opportunities... random events like meteor-selling whether the meteor fell on your house or a pop-up told you your sim saw it in their telescope and wants to pick up... we basically treat that as a random opportunity event).

I'm in favor of this because there are a bunch of things we've never addressed. Can you make money raiding the catacombs (I dunno, I'm inclined to say yes on this one since you usually just end up mauled by a bear)? Or from the time machine and gyroscopic conductor, which have a much easier success rate? If you can't, then you have to remember what items you got from there though, and never sell them...

We already covered the gems dug up by the miner and obtained with the board breaker, with collector...

...OK I'm gonna stop because my brain hurts and there's getting to be no way to make this challenge make total sense.

*curls up in the corner with some hot cocoa*

calisims 6th Sep 2012 3:21 PM

Hi, mimi! *hugs* welcome back!
I think we were planning on allowing CAS occult Sims. They might be overpowered and we might have to restrict how they use their powers the way we restricted using genie wishes.
Yeah, Becky, my feeling on selling stuff you get from whatever non-career activity was off limits. (Though, if my heir married a born-in-game Sim who inherited like 20 canes from previous generations, I'd sell those off just the cleanse the inventory, lol). But we should make that explicit, no selling conjured crap.
Since I don't have SN yet I don't know how the alchemy thing works, if it produces saleable goods or if it's available to non-witches. It might be possible to have a non-standard career based around witchcraft/alchemy, I guess, which could include using the cauldron and selling alchemy potions (if they are saleable) and of course whatever witches can do...but, I'm a little apprehensive of that, I don't want a career roll that says you have be/marry a witch to perform it. The cauldron is a store item not everyone has, so that career might limit you to the alchemy table if you chose not to be a witch...I dunno...Or we could just slap alchemy onto the 'freelance scientist' career. Hey, Isaac Newton was into alchemy, too, true story. And ban witches from selling junk.
Stuff to think about, anyway.

NutsAndDolts 6th Sep 2012 3:39 PM

If we had a career like that, we could always add a "re-roll if you don't want witches in your story or whatever".

My concern with the cauldron was, it was just really easy. From what I remember, my sim just had to wander over to it, perform some little animation, and spell ingredients would be summoned. It would be weird to allow those to be sold. But maybe I remember incorrectly. This was months ago.

calisims 6th Sep 2012 3:54 PM

I haven't played too much with the cauldron, but they do take an enormous energy hit when they summon ingredients. Two summons and my Sim just passed out. So you couldn't just do this all day for profit. And the ingredients themselves are used in making potions or whatever from the cauldron, those things require pretty fancy ingredients like rainbow gems for the good stuff, so you aren't necessarily doing this for the money if you are seriously playing with the cauldron.
The new witch transmute spell, however, seems to not cost much mana at all and is a total exploit.
Sometimes I just want to throw my hands up on the money restrictions and say 'whatever', because EA seems intent on forcibly shoving giant wads of cash down your Sim's throat at every turn, lol.

Envie42 6th Sep 2012 4:44 PM

I created a little 'teen witch' girl for exploring Moonlight Falls and learning how witchcraft works. I barely got the game up and running before I had to go to bed last night due to an early morning appointment - but I will say this, witches innately LOVE standing around 'playing with magic' (kinda like magicians do in Showtime) for no reason at all and the very first thing she did was start summoning apples, I mean over and over. Maybe it was being buggy but she summoned 6 before I stopped her and had her move on to something else. She's homeless (for my story) and doesn't have a cauldron so I can't say what else she'll be able to summon yet. The witches seem exceptionally powerful in the things they can do... will be an easy money-maker so special rules will probably need to be made for witches who are rolled for another career path. Seems kinda silly to even have a witch if you roll something hard like one of the entertainment careers, but I guess if that's your heir, who ended up that way because your previous heir married a witch randomly and has a witch child - gonna be tough!

I'm considering using the options to filter out the supernaturals in my current legacy, but its really tempting. The problem I have is lots of them popping up everywhere randomly (like what happened with Vampires in Bridgeport ugh!) and ruining my story. Twallan will add a supernatural occult tweaking module I'm sure (there's already one for vampires, animals etc in Register) so you can specify the percentage of these you want immigrating to your town.

BUT - the issue of making tons of money off the new occult types will probably need addressed. There's a new trait called 'gatherer' which enables the sim to find more collectables, more plants, more rare things as well...

Also, the fairies have longer lives, like vampires, plus magical spells, so they are another area...

calisims 6th Sep 2012 5:05 PM

Thanks, Envie!
I'd like to know if there are other ways for witchery to be a money maker besides conjuring crap to sell. Though one could make a lot of money from that it sounds pretty dull for a 'career'. If there are any other aspects of the witch thing that can be used to make money, it might be worthwhile to make an optional career around it.
Otherwise, yah, we have to restrict all selling of conjured crap.

We already had to kind of throw up our hands on the extended life issue because of vampires in LN. We don't want to tell people they can't play with a life state. It does pretty much wipe out any challenge to the game, however, so that's something everyone has to think about when they decide whether to have supes or not. If you are playing for challenge, you probably should avoid it.

The new gatherer trait seems fine to me. It would make the collector career easier, but lots of traits already make various careers easier and we don't restrict those.

Zokugai 6th Sep 2012 6:12 PM

As a heads up, whatever SN calls when witches transform one item into another item is apparently way overpowered, and doesn't take enough energy to do to balance it out. Something to watch for.

I have to admit, I'm ridiculously amused that they waited to release fairies AFTER Cece finished the Sabo legacy. And I will admit to going in and seeing how Sky Sabo looks with SN fairy wings. And it's pretty freaking awesome.

I also discovered Elsie makes a damn good vampire. This whole being able to create occults straight from CAS thing is going to come so much in handy.

Pics pics pics PICS DAMN YOU T_T...

I think once I move to Moonlight falls I'm going to explain fairies by: "Fuck it. They have wings now. That's all the explanation you get." Because seriously... everything else will make SENSE with the story but that!

*Checks UPS* Game arrived at Richmond distribution twenty minutes ago... I wonder if I can just go and pick it up. O_o Richmond's a 30 minute drive from here. I want the game noooow T_T

I did, but I also stated that she was the last of her kind. So whatever fairies I have in Supernatural will have to be a new kind altogether. But then I also want Neptune and his family to have wings, and its not like he ever cared about hiding who he was, right?

I'll clean the storyline once I actually have the game in my hand.

Sorry, teal with al the SN roll talk, I forgot to vote!

I like orange-eyed Edie.
They are all nice looking Sims, though.
And, lol, Foster Enmity even breeds himself into your random adoptees. He's messy about spreading his genes around that way.

Zokugai 6th Sep 2012 6:55 PM

See, that's why I went with my option. How come magic works at X space but not anywhere else? TRANSDIMENSIONAL PORTALS.

Although that doesn't explain why the hell I went with a pegasus statue instead of a unicorn statue, but I'm too lazy to redo the lot and retake my screenshots.

As for your pictures, I think these are my two favorite wing options for her. The screengrabs don't do them justice, they trail stars and glitter when they flap, like when a unicorn runs.

Perhaps you could throw in some random cosmic event whereby they've always had wings but something has made humans unable to see them until now?

Edit to add: I've had email notification that my copy of Supernatural has dispatched and is due to arrive tomorrow! Squee!

ReyaD 6th Sep 2012 7:28 PM

Hmm... can anybody with Supernatural do a quick test and tell me if wing type is inherited by children or if its just random?

And Zuko she looks great! Both wing types are great, but the top one is my fav.

Zokugai 6th Sep 2012 7:31 PM

I don't know yet, Cece, but it's just another CAS option, so if it's random, it'd be easy to MasterController.

Also omfg the clothing choices. Why are there so many male clothes? EA isn't supposed to actually LISTEN to customer complaints!

FINALLY A DECENT PAIR OF NONRIDICULOUS DRESS TROUSERS.

Anybody else in favor? Or have opinions to the contrary?

So. Installed supernatural. Put dark red spirally wings on Loki. Looked like he was telekinesis'ing blood out of his back. Heh.

I know what all of my faeries are gonna look like.

I was annoyed to find that when you switch a sim to werewolf, their werewolf form is automatically very different looking from their sim form. I would have preferred to start with the were form looking the same, and make changes it to myself, or maybe have the OPTION for EA to generate one for me. Maybe a mod will handle this.

EDIT: has anyone been able to load up their legacy? I'm not sure if all of the nraas mods I used are updated.

calisims 6th Sep 2012 8:23 PM

Sounds great.
About the inventory brought in by spouses, we've discussed but never added to the rules, you can use/sell anything brought in with a permanent spouse/partner, but stuff in the inventory of temporary move-ins (like when you've rolled a single parent) cannot be sold off. You can take their books for your library, but their cars and stuff like that go with them when kick them out.

My save games all worked just fine post patch. What's the issue, Becky? Not appearing in the save game menu? Forever loading? Crashing?

I agree. It would be more straightforward and concise and, I think, easier for new players to understand.

I think I've asked this before, but what about the money that a "permanent" spouse/partner brings with them to the household? Are you allowed to keep it or do you have to get rid of it? I've been using family funds to eliminate it, but I wasn't sure. Maybe we could make that point a bit more clear in the rules?

@Tea- I vote Lucas.

Edit: Thank god it's not just my computer! I've been having trouble with the forums all afternoon!

NutsAndDolts 6th Sep 2012 11:20 PM

There's no issue I'm aware of. I'm just afraid of opening my game. =O

Also mildly afraid my sims will be attacked by zombies the second I do.

I updated the... thingie. A little bit. About the careers and moneys.

And did a bit of testing on faeries. Guys, you have to send one to a claw machine... lol...

Edit: spouses' money... I forget. There should be a cap on it I think. I always MC my people in due to prior glitches, and get 0 monies.

ReyaD 6th Sep 2012 11:26 PM

At least with me, if the person is the only one living in their house and you MC them in, you get money. So I always have to family funds it out.

... It's annoying.

calisims 6th Sep 2012 11:29 PM

Colleen, the marriage money is fine to keep.

So, Lecocq strikes again...this is slightly spoilery, but since it involves a spare that's already moved out, it's not incredibly spoilery and I had to share. I was playing my legacy, and Brian Lecocq ages up and immediately gets back together with Shasta. Hours later, he's knocked her up.
Brian was himself conceived mere hours after I started my legacy, as Rainier and Portia apparently could not wait to get it on.
I guess it runs in the family.

CyyKosis 6th Sep 2012 11:37 PM

That's awesome Melissa! I can't wait to see their babies

I have loaded my legacy with zero glitches so far. My game wouldn't load with the updated MC-Progression (Note: not SP) so I'm doing without that mod but everything else is seems to be running fine. The only non-game related glitch is when I use MC to change someone's occult type to Werewolf and then edit them in CAS, I'm unable to change their ugly wolf form as the button doesn't exist.

calisims 6th Sep 2012 11:38 PM

I think getting the money from MCing Sims in is a new feature of MC, it didn't used to do that. And that money you have to fund away because it's the value of the whole house. But in a standard marriage, I've never gotten more than a couple thousand, even when it was a single Sim in an expensive house, and that amount is generally been too piddly for me bother funding away.
But certainly we can cap it if people feel it's too much. 5k maybe?
I've never gotten more than that, usually much less.

NutsAndDolts 6th Sep 2012 11:40 PM

Lol... I was afraid you were going to say Rainier got it on with Shasta... >.>

I'm glad you didn't.

Edit: 5k sounds fine to me. Some houses are really expensive and would go for more than that, if your spouse was the last guy in the house.

I haven't actually checked how much they sell for, but there's an elixir shop where you can sell any elixirs you make the same way you can sell things in the consignment store. Probably you can just sell them in the consignment store too? I haven't tried yet. Also, alchemy is available to all Sims, not just witches. So I think it's viable as a non-standard career. I already added it to my personal list of rolls in any case, lol. And I'm playing it as the career for my first gen, so I'll let you guys know how well it works out. Ooh, and what about beekeeping? I've heard that honey sells fairly well. It might not be enough for a career of it's own, but maybe added onto farmer or something?

Also... hi everyone! It's been a while. I haven't been playing but Supernatural drew me back in.

Speaking of new rolls.. I know that you guys don't want to force people to play supernaturals, but what about adding a supernatural-related rule to the optional 10-gen rolls at the bottom of the blog? Something like having each type of life state in your household at some point during your legacy (minus the imaginary friend, perhaps... most people seem to dislike those), maybe?

Oh and this is just a random question, but I wanted to use Overwatch and I know a lot of you guys do use it, so.. I put it into my game and when it comes to the alarm time that it runs all of its commands, my game freezes up. Not for just a short period of time, which I expected it to do, but it freezes indefinitely, and eventually I just have to close it out. I tried running the commands separately before the time rolled around because I thought maybe it just had too much to do, being the first time in the game and all, but it still happened. Am I missing some vital setting or something? :s Twallan's mods always confuse me when I first start using them lol.

calisims 6th Sep 2012 11:49 PM

Thanks for the info, KaiRuh. I'd love to have alchemy as a non-standard career since it's available to non-witches. And we could allow those in this career to sell things conjured in cauldrons or by witches as part of this career as well. (My understanding is the rare conjured items are also needed for alchemical recipes and such, so the player would not necessarily want to sell the conjured ingredients, but we could make that available as part of the career)
I think we should test beekeeping a little to see if it's profitable enough to be it's own career. Otherwise, it could go with farming.
I like adding the supe rule to the optional 10 generation rules.

I can't really help you with the Overwatch; I use it and that never happened to me. =(

CyyKosis 6th Sep 2012 11:50 PM

Just went to look on Twallan's site and he already released a new update since last night that fixes the issue in CAS that i was having

KaiRuh~I'm guessing your game is fully patched? That would be my only thought on the issue. I used to run Overwatch with the generic settings at first and it's never lagged for more than a couple seconds max for me. Its freezing for all the commands separately? Maybe someone else has another idea

KaiRuh 6th Sep 2012 11:54 PM

Yeah, it's fully patched, and I have the most recent version of the mod. When I run them separately, they perform their jobs just fine. It's just when it does its nightly checkup.
