Well, much to my disappointment I discovered that a Sim doesn't actually have to grow a perfect garden to get a lifetime wish fulfilled. I have a Sim with a "perfect" garden that invited another Sim to move in, and instantly his LTW was fulfilled.

I found you can get 83000 dollars for no apparent reason. Wish RL was like that :P

Double Collections Exploit:
This worked in Virtual Villagers. To my extreme surprise, it also works in The Sims 3. You will need awesomemod and a Collections Helper. Set your Helper to search for gems or seeds. Pause the game on the city map, showing the round icons of your intended prey. Get a closeup view of the map for a particular gemstone or seed. Still in pause, shift-click to teleport two Sims, one each on opposite sides of your booty. Send them as close as possible to your target item. STILL in pause, queue up a "Collect" or a "Pick Up" command for each of these two sims. Unpause. Watch the gloriousness: each of your two Sims will teleport to the target, and EACH OF THEM WILL COLLECT IT. Each of them will end up with the target in their inventories. Double collection. Rock and seed piracy. It is a beautiful thing. |

I've had that happen in World of Warcraft before, but for killing monsters. My friend and I would press the quest item at the same exact time and we'd end up getting two-for-one. It's difficult to do on an online game but on the sims? I'm not surprised. I might try this just for kicks. :D |
I discovered why it' a good idea to have one of your sims to max out logic. My Dad sim maxed his out and can now teach skills to his child. By having Dad teach cooking and gardening to his son the kid now gains skill point watching tv with mom. No more wasting muffins to get cooking and gardening skill kid can't get in game on there own. Love it!

I noticed today that the moon rises and falls, but I can't say the same for the sun!
|
I noticed today that if I disconnect the internet before I play the Sims my game will not lag or crash. It actually runs smoother too!

I had an interesting one last night.
My happy lesbian couple was expecting their first child and trying to save up for some things by fishing (they love sushi) and playing guitar for tips. The dad had to go to work and two hours in the mom's water breaks. The dad immediately leaves work and goes to the mom's side and they have a lovely baby girl. I take them home, let the dad snuggle her new baby, and then I send her back to work because they need the money (for a new house). The dad is at work but her performance isn't going up, at all. She was there until she had to leave with her carpool, but she never got money or suffered from "working hard". Apparently when you leave work for any reason you don't get to make it up if you go back, you don't even get money! D: Though I did find out that stealing candy from your own child does not make them hate you. O.o |
It's "Thornton" Wolff, not Thorton, as I was calling him. Poor guy, I make him have horrible relationship issues, procreate against his wishes, starve to death him because Kurt Shallow had a bad day at work, before he could make up with his wife or meet any of his sons, and I wasn't even saying his name right. Oh well, all 3 of his sons are pretty as hell.

Deleting all my characters/games doesn't hurt at all. I was playing tonight, got bored and deleted all my games.
I don't know. It's so hard to stay psyched playing this. ![]() |

I've learned that my playable ghost can be invisible. Seriously, she can make out ( Looks horrible when a guy makes out with the air ), Tend garden, play computer games and more. I cannot interact with her through other sims, so I have to select her to actually do something.
Also, if your playable ghost will go back into the urn, if you resurrect her again, she will be in the same state that she died in ![]() |

Mods make it fun. Building is also fun, must keep building. My town is beginning to look like LA's skyline.

I decided to rely on the library for all my learning needs, and with that attitude, I found out that when reading skill books, it will only allow you to read books you're authorized to read. For instance, if you're a level 4 cook, it will only show and allow you to read the 2nd level cooking book. If you continue reading the book, and pass to the next level that the book doesn't allow you to read, your Sim will automatically put the book away.

A Sim I used to play often, Chavaughn, liked to eat her own feces
![]() Everytime she used the bathroom she would sit down, stand up and as soon as she flushed the toilet she would quickly stick her hand into the toilet and then put it to her mouth. The first time it happened I was all ![]() She did it a few more times and then suddenly never again. It still confuses me. |

... err... did it help her fishing trait, or was this for Sims 2? |
Today I learned that if you place the ankle-height light over a rug, it lights up as if it were a huge floor light. It was perfect for the little dance floor I was making. To hide the light you first place a smaller rug, with the light over it, then your larger rug over it.
Here show's the difference at night; http://i26.tinypic.com/348kmjq.jpg I also noticed that when a fish dies, it leave a little tombstone in the fishbowl! Probably all old news but I thought it was cool. |

Whoa. I think it was the daredevil trait, that they eat dirt...perhaps she was eating "dirt" just over the toilet? Man, I hope you get a pic of this. No matter what, it is sounds truly disgusting. |
Isn't there a thread for funny/unexpected things that happened in your game, that is different from this thread? I can't find it but I'm sure I've seen it.
Anyway, this post is more suited for such a spot. But I did an opportunity where one of my Writer Sims had to write an article for a co-worker (Bebe Heart), since Bebe could not handle doing it herself. I titled the article, "Bebe Heart is a Fucking Whore". She ate it up and gave me 10,000 simoleans!! ![]() |

My evaluation of this thread is more about what you've learned you can do in The Sims 3 instead of what you've found funny or unexpected. ![]() For instance, once I had her get engaged and move in with my Sim, I found out that Bebe is a technophobe. So in true Sim torture fashion, I have her as an unemployed Sim who's writing a book and working on her mechanical skills. |
When recoloring objects, like dining chairs, you can just click and drag the bar where the colored areas are on the change a style scene over the chair and 'drop' it and ta'dah, it's been copied.
(I really don't seem to be able to explain this in a way it would make any sense...) All this time I've wasted hassling with sliders to make cupboards, counters and whatnot to match! Makes me feel kinda dumb, really. |
I found out today that I actually CAN edit sims I made before without a hack. Can't get them from the family bin back into CAS but you can open a sim in CAS (using wardrobe/mirror) and save them with the tiny little controls on the sim's picture. Those sims can be loaded later when creating a new family (with the large button above undo/redo). Another point for clumsy UI design. What were they doing, playing hide the feature? Makes me wonder, what if I open the options screen, stand on my head, spin around three times and bark like a dog, will it unlock pets in my game? *Tries* Nope....that was too obvious. But I'm sure it's in there somewhere, I'll find them by accident as well....
