Sims worth... where do you find it? lol I had a want of being worth 50k but cancelled it. Then I was curious to find out where it said their worth lol

potatoehead 31st Oct 2010 11:51 PM

Worth = Cash on hand + Value of home. No calculus necessary. (I don't know whether the value of venues or rabbitholes factors into this.)

heartbreak 1st Nov 2010 1:54 AM

Ahh. I had no idea. At least that's easy to remember. hhahaha

Menaceman44 1st Nov 2010 9:02 PM

How do you get a Sim to fry bugs? I've seen the reference to the action in the game code and Chaavik has a mod which makes the interaction fun but I don't know where it is.
I assumed a detective was needed in order to use the magnifying glass on insects but mine couldn't. Maybe they need to be in a display case?

VeronicaLodge 2nd Nov 2010 1:25 AM

This is probably a stupid question but does anyone know where I can get the newer updated Awesomod mod?

potatoehead 2nd Nov 2010 4:51 AM

It's in testing now. I'm not going to give you a direct link to it, because Pescado's philosophy is if you can't find it, you're too stupid to be using it. Again, that's his philosophy, not mine. I will get you close to it, though: http://moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/.

Peace.and.Chaos 2nd Nov 2010 2:26 PM

I made a sim in CAW and then started to playtest Bridgeport. She is quite the social bunny and a 5 star celebrity and at first went to the bars every day and there were enough sims. Now, no matter what bar she visits, I always get a notice that says "This place is empty blah blah blah" and indeed, no sims to socialize with.

Has this happened to anyone?

SuicidiaParasidia 6th Nov 2010 7:15 AM

which one helps a vampire sim regain energy quicker: the vampire coffin, or, the most expensive bed? >_>;

i dont want to waste money on a coffin if the bed works better.

dirty surroundings

My sim male and female keep getting the dirty surroundings in thier house. The female is neat, the male is not. I made the floor hygrator(sp) in several rooms and I thought it might be that, but I then deleted them all. The dirty surroundings come and go. It does not come up to clean house when I click on the female. My poor sim who loves a clean house can't get away from it. I didn't have a problem for a long time and now I do. I didn't do any thing to the house either. Help please

wickedblue 8th Nov 2010 3:49 PM

Has the trash been emptied recently? As far as I can recall, empty trash is not done automatically even if you have a neat sim "clean house". So, maybe that's it?

Also, if the house has a foundation, it wouldn't hurt to check for stuck trash under the floor tiles. I once had trash get stuck between the stairs and the foundation and every time a sim went into that room, it would give me the moodlet for dirty surroundings.

Menaceman44 8th Nov 2010 9:13 PM

Is Late Night patched yet, or is the latest patch just for the base game only?

I use the launcher and it doesn't say anything about a new patch, so I guess there was just the first patch when the game came out.

starved4pizza 8th Nov 2010 10:46 PM

But is it for Late Night or the base game?

Does the clean house interaction for the female appear, but drops from the queue immediately after using it? I have seen that a couple times, caused by serving containers the game didn't properly destroy.

You might try to solve it like this: Download and install my housecleaning mod, activate the testing cheats, and click on the lot's mailbox. There will be a "Find Serving Containers" interaction in the 2BTech submenu. It will allow you to select and focus on every serving container it can find. If you find an invisible one, destroy it and the issue should be resolved.

It was for all the games - it adds ability to form groups, breast and muscle sliders, astrological signs, platform building, half walls, urinals, rounded edge swimming pools, fountains, wall stereos, maybe some other things to the base game and supposedly it fixed bugs in WA and Amb. but they aren't listed.
I guess it didn't patch LN - would that be 6.0?

starved4pizza 9th Nov 2010 1:21 AM

Oh I see, thanks RoseCity. There's so many friggin' patches out for this game in general, it's just easy to get confused. <_>

The clean house does not appear. I will quickly click on a sim and the dirty moodlet is not there and then it will appear. But I think my game is glitchy, because the household I was playing last night lost the sound. May be the glitch affects the clean moodlet also. thanks for the suggestions everyone.

VeronicaLodge 9th Nov 2010 8:17 PM

where would we download it i've looked on more awesomer than you but have no idea where is is!!

el_flel 9th Nov 2010 8:27 PM

In the same place it always is... Main page -> Awesomeware -> Awesomemod -> links in the first post. To check if it's been updated for new patches/EPs then check the subsequent posts - JMP will have stated in those if he's updated it.

I'm new to Sims 3, so I don't know how to find the box to write the family history in. I notice all the premades have something in that box, but darned if I can find where to access it.

psivampyr 9th Nov 2010 10:56 PM

Rosie, As for the dirty house moodlet, I noticed if your tv/computer or something similar is broken it will give them the same moodlet. When she enters the room with that triggers the moodlet, she might have a thought bubble of the item that is causing her grief. Mine had one of the tv, which happen to be broken, once it was repaired the dirty moodlet was gone.
Just an idea.
My question is- where does one get a new mailbox if it's deleted by accident?

If you're talking about the full household, then you need to be in Edit Town. Select the maptag for the household you want to add info to and click the Edit Details button (right hand side, icon looks like a piece of lined paper with a pencil). If you're talking about an individual sim's bio then it's in live mode on the Simbology tab (first tab with a plumbob) and the little book looking button next to the favorites. You can also add the sim's bio in Create-a-Sim in the Personality section (bottom button in the main panel - plumbob - then the Personality page - heart - and the little paper and pencil button under the voice slider).

Barcelona Pear 10th Nov 2010 12:23 AM

Thank you so much, LunyKimberly. That's exactly what I needed.

If you have Late Night, you might try this: HL created this mod LN Buyable Mailbox and Trash Chute.

I am yet to build an apartment so I have not used this but HL posted, "When you place the wall mailbox the standard mailbox will be deleted so you have just one on your residential lot. You can delete the wall mallbox and the standard mailbox will return."

It might work in bringing back your deleted mailbox.

What's up with the book club. Do they simply send you a new book once a week or are you supposed to do something after you've read it?
It's been about three sim weeks, yet they've only received one book in the mail - which he read immediately.

I get books every few days, maybe it is once a week, but I do get lots of books. I have never had to wait 3 weeks for new book.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I've noticed that if you join the book club and then add a mod that uses the Books XML (non-default skill books, kids can read, faster skilling, etc.) that a lot of times you have to rejoin the book club. Might want to check to make sure the game didn't drop you out of the club for some reason.

NickeyElysse 12th Nov 2010 10:04 PM

Question: Can freckles and/or beauty marks be passed down genetically? If not, if a sim is born in game, there's really no what to change that is there? (I refuse to use mods or cheats; I'm a purist.)

With the add of muscle size as well as definition, which one is controlled by what work outs? To what, if any degree is that genetic. For example, If Sims A and Sim B lived their child, and toddler and infant days identically, but had different parents, what are the chances of them having different musculature?

I've noticed some sims are naturally skinnier than others when they become teenagers. Is that a genetic thing too, or just lifestyle?

nono--i dont think you get it.

the food was not left out overnight.

even real life food doesnt spoil that fast.

Nalia 13th Nov 2010 9:10 PM

I didn't mean you left the food out, rather than EAtards might have broken something while fixing other stuff. Now, who cooked it and what kind of ingredients he/she used? is the next question.

heartbreak 13th Nov 2010 10:24 PM

I seem to remember something from when WA came out that caused the food to spoil over night. Not sure if it was from a conflicting mod or a glitch on their part.
/scratches head

at any rate, you're not the only one who has experienced this.

Spoiled food sucks and I am sorry to say how happy I was you are having this trouble... it means I am not the only one!

It's very annoying... I actually have food go bad a couple times a day! A sim will clean it out and a few sim hours later the green smoke from the fridge is back and all the sims are gagging. It's really annoying and like you I have the best fridge too. :/

the cook has skill level 9, and used "great"/"excellent" ingredients from the garden.
and at this point i am entirely too ready to accept that EA borked it. this problem didnt arise until after i installed late night. -_-

i do have WA, but surprisingly, i never had issues with it until now.
(now its just like, why the hell even bother with anything other than snacks...they spoil too quickly to be of any use to anyone after theyre made.)

privately, i am amazed there isnt already some sort of "oh FFS, EA" group by now to discuss such problems within.

hege23 14th Nov 2010 8:50 AM

I have a question. I recently purchased Ambitions and noticed a few things odd after. I had to uninstall and reinstall all over as i have had to with all the expansions, just one of the quirks i seem to be unlucky enough to have. Anyway when i got Ambitions it said 0.0.0.0 and i could not patch , so i had to start all over. Since the latest patch my sim keeps getting the want for a hot tub. Now maybe i am missing something , but as far as i am aware Ambitions does not have one. Is this a product of the patch leading up to Late Nite? This is what i assumed. Also some of my cc hair shows up and some don't.
I have already been reading what i can about the cc, mainly was curious about the hot tub want

Menaceman44 14th Nov 2010 2:36 PM

The hot tub want will be down to the Patch. I've read of other users having Sims want hot tubs despite not owning LN but they do have the patch. I guess EA forgot to put a check in so that it wouldn't roll if you don't have the full EP.

You are not alone. Installing Late Night was the start of troubles for my game as well. Have you tried to clear all the cache files, including worldcaches and version.tag? Deleting the last one fixed a couple of things for me, like Sims being frozen/ stuck in their beds and resetting. Still, I am pretty sure we should wait for a new patch any time soon, as it seems they didn't test the game properly -- I am tempted to think they are testing it now, in our systems.

i deleted the worldcaches, but not version.tag ... .i'll try it.
though i havnt had sims get frozen/stuck in bed. though i have had them standing up in cars, which makes me LOL so i might just keep that one.

and, i agree. but then Slapdash does seem to have become a part of the EA company name, hasnt it?

DizzySim 14th Nov 2010 10:55 PM

deleting all the caches and the version.tag doesn't do anything for the too quickly rotting food. I have had to remove all those things before each time i pay since the first EP in order for my game to even start and I still have food that rots in hours. I am convinced too it's a LN issue that needs to be patched as I also have the other EPs and the trouble didn't start until LN.

I have "stupid question"
I have a sim that is into gardening and the LTW is to have the perfect garden. but they have rolled a want to join the Gardening Career track o.O I have never had this in any of my other green thumb-ish sims and I for the life of me can't figure out where they go for the gardening career. I have searched and googled and can't find anything either. Anyone else know?

EDIT: Of course as soon as I post my I reword my search and find something. So i found that you can register as a self employed gardener.... when the sim wants to join the Gardening Career Track is that what they mean they want.. to register as self employed gardener?

LN puts a hot tub in BuyDebug (I think it's one of the objects that is supposed to be available only as a celebrity gift). Maybe that one slipped into the patch... you could check

Kestie Freehawk 15th Nov 2010 1:11 AM

I have my young adults or teens garden to ten as part of first you make them imortal. You can buy fruits and vegitables at the market and plant them if you have enough skill to plant them. The best fertilizer is garlic, peppers, or life fruit. I can never get a good return from fish. My first experience gardening is picking the public garden in China but make sure they have 1 skill in gardening. The public garden is to the north of the acadamy and serenity garden so you pass it on the first quests. I camp there and then run to the acadamy for a shower. It gets them up to about four in gardening. Most of the graveyards have seed spawns around them and higher level seeds you cant plant make good fertilizer too. I never nave "wasted" a rare seed on fertilizer because my sims wont. Spawns refresh every day and there ar about 9 seeds so you end up with a lot. My sims planted 19 death plants one day. I didnt know they were death plant seeds. I only got 2 to three life plants but then you replant the fruit to get more. I have done the perfect garden challenge and the worst part is getting enough life plants going to fertilize everything with life fruit.

In my experience the Vampire never gets full sleep unless it gets coffin time even without the visable need for sleep. It shortens their power without the coffin. I give them both and they don't use the bed unless they want wahoo.

I have gone to mostly fruit meals in my big houses because of the quick spoilage in the best friges. Vampires are more sensitive to gross smells too it seems because the trash compactor can go off in two days. The family was all way across the greatroom but they all had the garbagecan moodlet.

If I do cook I will put it in the kids backpack, wait for it to start spoiling and then have him/her wash the dishes.

The maid will sometimes clean things your sim cant find. Also I do the laundry because my sim will spin off her clothes and they hide under the couch or rug. I cant see them but she will find them.

is there any way to generate a bunch of new townies in ts3, like in ts2? I'm getting bored of the same families over and over again, and making my own families/waiting for new sims to move to my town is tiresome.

acelsey 15th Nov 2010 1:24 PM

This question is probably particularly stupid question because I dont actually have TS3 .... yet. But I'm reading, reading, reading up on it trying to decide if I want to get it or not. Anyyyyyywayyyyy, my question is:

Are Sims stuck with three outfits per category for their whole life?? I've read that you can only have up to 3 different outfits per category, but can you change those three at any time? I like to change my Sims clothes every day, and would get sick of rotating through the same three outfits every three days.

Thanks!

You can create 3 outfits in each clothing category at a time. If your sim is changing clothes autonomously, they'll wear Outfit #1. If you change their outfit by clicking on the sim, you'll have the option to choose any of the 3 outfits.
You can change any or all of the outfits at any time by clicking on a dresser and selecting 'Plan Outfit'.

I was not able to reproduce the problem in my game. All my Sims have high cooking skills, nearly all use expensive refridgerators and most of them have small gardens for fresh produce, but only two, with low cooking skills and not expensive fridges, had their stored leftovers spoiled by the next day. I have TS3 base game, WA, HELS, AMB and LN, all updated with latest official patches. I use only Pescado's AM and Twallan's mods and CC (hair, sliders, skins, male clothes).

However, considering each of us deals with different game problems I'd say LN needs a patch ASAP.

Perhaps you would be interested in a mod that randomly cycles through the outfits on a nightly basis ?

Then you seek the Dresser mod, available via the link in my signature.

Cheers.

Not without modding. I know at least one modder who's working on it though

You don't have to copy the bridgeport LOTS to your library, though. The BUILDINGS should be available with the other rabbit hole buildings in the Community Lot area (under Build, only visible when building on a community lot).

kittenette069 17th Nov 2010 4:47 AM

Thank you! I appreciate you answering my question and telling me the location for the rabbit holes.

I would imagine that one of Twallan's mods or Awesomemod have a feature to kill off everyone and try again.

Succy 17th Nov 2010 3:57 PM

Is there a way to change the appearance of ghosts? Can you change their appearance via the mirror and makeover station when they are playable?

Wintermute 17th Nov 2010 4:29 PM

@Succy: As far as I know, yes, you can change a ghost's appearance in the mirror if he/she is playable (or you can do it to unplayable ghosts, if you have Awesomemod or NRaas Master Controller). You can see what the ghost Sim looks like as a regular Sim.

Not sure if I should ask here but does anyone know how to place picnic spots for NPC Sims on community lots? I can't seem to find anything in buydebug relating to it and I've not seen picnic baskets show up in the community catalogue.

Srikandi 23rd Nov 2010 3:47 AM

It's not available in any catalog. Was supposed to appear in BuyDebug with WA, but didn't. Dunno if there's a mod somewhere that unlocks it -- you could try WCIF.

Menaceman44 23rd Nov 2010 1:06 PM

S'all right. I've unlocked it myself using the s3oc. Well, I've made an unlocking file that I am yet to test. It was marked as Debug with with a subcat of Unused44. I changed it to DebugMisc.

My next question is if there is a plasma fruit spawner or not, like for the rest of the plants? Now that, I CAN'T find in s3oc OR within the game files which makes me curious as to how a Sim can get them to plant them in the first place? Am I right in thinking vampires get some in their inventory by default? If so, how are regular Sims supposed to get a hold of them?

I'd quite like to plant some behind the hospital in my custom world.

Don Babilon 23rd Nov 2010 1:20 PM

I think there should be a spawner somewhere as I was able to find a seed in Bridgeport under that dome with all the butterfies.
And the fruit itself can be bought at the grocery store.

Menaceman44 23rd Nov 2010 4:46 PM

Well I've not seen any new seed spawners so maybe it was included in an existing one? I wish I understood game files better then maybe I could answer my own questions.

Don Babilon 23rd Nov 2010 9:46 PM

It's a special seed, so maybe it's the same like the one for Life Fruit, Flame Fruit and Death Flower. Doesn't the game show the name of the spawner when you pick it up under buydebug?

I'm guessing this because I found one just lying about in Riverview at the opposite end of the island from the graveyard. That's where I normally go for rare and special seeds.

Srikandi 24th Nov 2010 4:07 AM

That's good to know Ranissa... answers a stupid question of mine, namely "are the new LN collectibles included in previously existing spawners?"

I assume if they did it for seeds, they did it for the new metals, gems and maybe fish too.

Don Babilon 24th Nov 2010 10:59 AM

These have their separate spawners, though. I checked yesterday in buydebug and apart from Plasma Fruit everything that came with LN has its own spawner.

starved4pizza 24th Nov 2010 2:40 PM

Where can you find flame fruit, life fruit, or death fruit? I read Ranissa's post and don't have Riverview, so... ^^;

Menaceman44 24th Nov 2010 7:34 PM

Thanks, Renissa.

The Death flower is always found in the graveyard. There is usually only one plant though and it dies once it's harvested.

Flame fruit tends to be planted in other Sims' gardens.

I've never found the Life fruit. I had to cheat to get them.

I've usually found the special seeds around the stone circle (on a little island in the river)

You can find the special seeds (life fruit and death fruit) around the graveyard and the science facilities. The flame fruit is also growing in the Koffi and Langerak lots. The Collection Manager (or whatever it's called) lifetime reward is very helpful for this, as is Twallan's Debug Enabler because it contains a command for uncovering seeds.

acelsey 25th Nov 2010 12:25 PM

Ok, you'll probably think this is a really stupid question, so let me preface my question. I got TS3 the other day and I haven't installed it yet, but I'm planning how I want to set up my hood. Here's the big Q:

If you leave a house empty (ie. void of furniture), will townies still live in it? Do they bring their own furniture?

Thanks

My sims got plasma in the mail after the change. Like the next mail delivery.

The level of the gardner also changes what is visable to the collector. Try giving Collection Helper to a Sim with lvl 10 gardening. Zoom into the sky and find a rich spawn point for seeds. Switch to another family member and send them to the spawn point to collect. They might not see from their veiwpoint all the seeds that the Lvl 10 gardner does.

I tried this on the Broke compound. Ms Broke was my best gatherer because she was lvl 10 too, but the kids did get a lot.
The metals and gems worked the same all around. The Bistro did good business that night.

The flame fruit can also be aquired in a quest in Egypt and France has a Life Fruit patch in one quest. I personally just picked up all of the seeds behind the Sunset Vally graveyard every day to get my first life fruit. After growing 27 death flowers I got several Life fruit.

Riskilla of course giggled and then mourned and then giggled for the death flowers and could revive them. Riskilla is an extremely happy Sim.

Did LN break opportunities to make food? Two of my Sim's got an opportunity to make a serving of any recipe and bring it to the Sim that requested it. But no matter what food I make and put into my inventory, the counter on how many servings I need to make, never increments. It's always zero.

Don Babilon 25th Nov 2010 8:01 PM

Quite possible, because something related happened to me. My culinary career Sim received an opportunity to make some food and bring it back to the restaurant, but when I tried to check again what he was supposed to cook the opportunity was gone

Sorry if this has been asked already, but what in the world is the function of groups? I just had one of my sims form a group with her brother, and nothing seems to be changed except now she can ask him to leave the group.
I don't have Late Night, by the way..

el_flel 26th Nov 2010 12:53 PM

^ It's so that the sims in the group can out places and they'll stick together, rather than pre-LN where you try to go out with friends and they all disappear or get lost. They'll also leave if they aren't having a fun, or tell you that they enjoyed it if they did have fun.

laughs_love_peace 26th Nov 2010 6:33 PM

Sorry if someone already asked this, but is there a way to force pregnancy in Sims 3? I remember in Sims 2 you could use the Tombstone of L&D, but I am not sure if it is possible in Sims 2.

I don't know about the un-modded game but Twallan's Master Controller has a Pollinate option that will immediately make the target Sim pregnant.

coffeebreak 27th Nov 2010 2:59 AM

Really sorry if this has been asked already. Is there a way to edit lot size, to include additional lot sizes in the neighborhood I'm already playing? I thought one of the moderators had made a program, but my mad search skillz are simply atrocious. And for some mysterious reason possibly pertaining to my suckalicious search skills, I can't find Delphy's CUSTARD. Is it still available?

Yes, I am that blind. :/ I went through the downloads posted by Delphy and the moderators, and still couldn't find what I was looking for.

Edit: Found this, which answers my first question, if anybody else is interested:

My celeb Sims are not being slandered, falsely accused, or anything of the sort. Is anyone else having this problem? I want to sue someone!

While playing the last few days, my sims where sleeping and on the fastest speed and I thought I saw lighting flashes in the distance. It happened twice now. Is my game messed up or is it part of the game and I never noticed before?

LunyKimberly 1st Dec 2010 6:08 PM

By "distance" you are talking outside your sims' home, correct? It could have been the searchlights - I think there's a couple at the theatre and stadium in each town plus quite a few more in Bridgeport. There's also the lighthouse in Sunset Valley (at least) which I think is on at night.
