Heela: Do you have MC? Someone had a sim stuck as a zombie and managed to get him back to normal by using MC to remove the zombie moodlet. Maybe give that a try before deleting them.

We had some discussion about this related to whether collectors can sell items they obtain from the destination worlds, but I can't remember if we decided to allow that or not. However, since the restriction against fishing is mostly to prevent skilling "off the clock", I *think* it should be allowed once you're maxed.

UPDATE
5.9 - The News http://sarisimsrandomlegacy.blogspo...09/59-news.html I cannot be blamed for making Gem my heir. He is visually appealing, a few good options for his spouse, could most def be a doctor, and honestly just has a way better story than Maven would. And in the boring rolls that's what keeps me going, the characters and their story. Plus this way I actually get to talk about Danika again and wtf happened. |
kiwi,
I know I have had my Sims fish on WA worlds in my legacies. Never professional anglers, just as something to do while n a WA world. I was technically 'skilling off the clock' but since it wasn't a skill my Sim needed for the job, I kind of went with it. Vacations don't offer many activities that don't also boost your skills. Even swimming in a pool can count as skilling. I think you should definitely be allowed to fish WA locations for an angler trying to collect all fish types. I think in general we might want to revise some of the restrictions on travel. Obviously skilling off the clock could be exploited, as could doing things like allowing buskers, painters, and anglers to work in a vacation world and get paid for it. But, it's kind of like the supernatural issue...a vampire/fairy/whatever heir who never traveled at all has a huge advantage over a normal Sim who did some of their skilling/money making while traveling. And face it, travel is kind of a hassle. I know from playing adventurers that constant travel really makes a generation drag on and you get to a point where you just stop because you want to move on already. So, I don't see people seriously abusing travel to skill up and get rich. And if they did...they still have less of an advantage than a vampire heir has at home. Misslaheela, there are mods to disable zombies. It won't fix your current zombie problem, but you can reset the ones currently bugging you with MC, you can use a no zombie mod to stop more from coming. There's one here at MTS, and one by Blue at Sims Asylum. |
I don't care about removing restrictions on travel. It would keep me from traveling to get screenshots, then not saving the game, and feeling bad.
When I speak up to "ban this, ban that" it's more about keeping the rules consistent. If there's not a rule to keep consistent with, I don't have to worry about it. Chapter 14 is up: http://archers3.blogspot.com/2012/0...damn-lucky.html Edit: if anyone knows what dark sorcery to use to get my sidebar type... thing... to have smaller text than the my blog post, let me know. I see other people that seem to have accomplished it, but blogger changes my gadget font size and post contents font size as one. |
Under Design>Templates>Advanced, there are separate settings for Page and Gadget font sizes.
|
The gadget thing only changes the titles of my gadgets, as weird as that sounds.
|
Yeah, sorry, it does that for me, too.
|
Story progression has it out for me today. =( It keeps importing sims into my town to be magicians and crap, even though I disallowed immigration, disallowed the showtime careers, etc.
|
Dude, I have SP turned off in my Summerdream neighborhood, and not a single stage object anywhere, and it keeps creating magicians and singers anyway. Sometimes I hate SHT so much, lol.
|
I'm not sure if anyone is aware of it or not---but I just found out there was a new patch released today---1.39 Looks like it is a Zombie fix----for those that had them spawning day and night when they saved during a full moon.
![]() |
Wtf? Two patches now that have actually fixed simething? What's going on EA?
|
So I have a glitch in my town, hopefully someone can help me with it.
Some of the pregnant townies have been pregnant for a long time; they won't have their babies! I'm pretty sure that if I moved them into my household, they would be normal, but is there any way I can make them go into labor without moving them in? Is there a cheat or mod? The only mod in my game is Awesome Mod. If anyone can help, thanks! |
I don't have any mods currently, because last time they slowed down and glitched my game dramatically and I'm a little hesitant to install them again. But I will if it gets rid of the zombies. When they appear, they will NOT get off my front lawn. I bought a pea-shooter, but it doesn't always shoot the zombies.
Another question. Under the romantic social interactions, I noticed things saying, like, "Forsake the Fae" or "Forsake Witchery." What happens if you successfully do that? Do they become, like, not supernatural anymore? |
heather, the pregnancy progress controller can force a Sim into labor:

I think it would be good to revise the restrictions too, when you're using travelling as part of a story it makes a pain to try and prevent your sims from doing any skilling while away from home, especially since quite a few skill items/interactions seem to have a high attraction for them. I think the additional timescale for lots of travelling makes a significant downside to any real attempt to exploit travelling as a means to skill faster so I'd be happy with just a statement that skilling while travelling is allowed but don't take advantage too much. |
I like that for witches it's "ask to forsake witchitude".
My witch sim did not react well. =P |
Oh okay. I was wondering if that actually did anything.
I like some of the new social interactions. I didn't manage to capture it on camera, but Midnight on her free will walked up to Phantom and confessed she secretly watched him while he slept. Phantom basically freaked out and looked at her all weird, which is precisely what I would do if someone confessed to watching me while I slept. |
Misslaheela, I cannot wait to see what nonsense Phantom gets up to. He is just one more funny character in your already hysterical legacy!
Aaaannd... I have another update. Boyfriend is busy this week, so I get lots of Sim time! So here we go, Chapter 6: A Wolf in Our Midst. |
Hi - I've been offline for two days, my internet was out (again).
Looks like I missed a lot of good discussion, so I will try and catch up on that as well as everyone's updated chapters! As for the debate about items which give advantage, I would like to cast a vote that the tree of prosperity not be banned. The reason I do not believe its a huge advantage any more than elixirs or other methods is that it costs 1,000 simoleons just to buy it, then you have to imbue it with whatever color (type of skill set) you want, then eat the fruit just to gain one tic of skill - which is random what you'll get. It's then 'spent' for a day or so, you can't immediately keep skilling up. Honestly that method to me seems slower than just skilling up the regular way. You may specify "body" skills but that doesn't mean you'll get athletics - you might get horse riding, or something else entirely. I used the tree of prosperity quite a bit when I was playing an alien colony and found it to be more of a pain in the ass than a cheat ... and ended up skilling my sims the normal way rather than the tree, even though the colony had two of them. They ended up being more novelty and for looks than anything else. As for the wishing well, I like the way its been defined by others what is ok to use. I don't have that pack or the well, but I will eventually get it and I'd like to be able to have the well for storytelling as well as the tree, or the water of life / spring thingy too. I would also like to be able to use elixirs eventually when my story deems it a good place to introduce alchemy or witchcraft but I'm not strongly against them one way or another. I think they take work to make and therefore should be allowable. Honestly, if someone's going to 'cheat' ... the fastest way of all is to just use twallan's master controller to give your sims the skillpoints immediately anyways. Cheating with items like the well or tree are a slower method and not going to stop someone determined to cheat anyways in my opinion. Myself and most players want to abide by the rules because we're playing it for fun and challenge. I've 'cheated' with Sims 3 for years. The point of this challenge is NOT to cheat and to stick with my random rolls. ![]() |
Thanks, Calisims! That looks like it should work.
|
I've got another chapter up. Chapter 19: Rah! Rah! Rah!
I was playing around with the Pose player last night, got my football poses, got all my sims to the Lot I wanted them on, got them in their poses, moved them into position---and my game crashed. I was so annoyed! I was just about to click the camera and poof! The Sims3 stopped working. I was talking to the game then---seriously---you couldn't wait one more minute?? ![]() Oh well. Now I am off to check and see if there's any news on Twallan's site about updates and all. ![]() |
/twitch
I just rolled four children for generation 3. Brb, dying. |
^Yeah, it's a challenge even keeping up with three kids (like I had the first generation). I'm really glad I only rolled one child for the current generation. Especially because I rolled Deadbeat Parents and Full House. I wouldn't want to subject too many kids to Midnight's nightmarish parenting skills.
|
I've got five kids for my current generation. It's the first time I've ever had to deal with more than three, and I am not excited at the prospect of developing five unique personalities while keeping the household running, especially since my heir has NO money to afford sitters or cribs or anything. I'm screwed, lol.
Better than Maddie though. I still remember how you accidentally got stuck with seven kids that one time. I really would die. |
I just give up on personalities if there are more than three. xD So either Maven or Marise are going to suffer this generation... probably both.
|
I hate raising sim-kids. xD Im not cut out to play a legacy, but I love the challenge of this one.
/hires babysitter everyday Thats allowed, right? :3 |
I don't think I've ever had a simchild I didn't become attached to.
If I had SEVEN, though... my head... ow. |

She makes it look so easy and so seamless, but it's HARD to keep track of that many Sims! Lol, I'll probably just focus on the heir and a few spares, but I'm gonna try, regardless.

I try to focus on each child as much as I can, but if I know a kid's not going to be the heir (and they're not the firstborn, where I naturally can spend time writing stuff about the firstborn before the others come along), it's difficult for me to develop them. I had to put special focus on Maiden in the first generation, because she was the unfortunate child that wasn't the firstborn, but wasn't the heir either, so I wouldn't ignore her entirely.
|
Briar. 7 kids.
Melody - The oldest, hates her father and thinks he's pathetic. Aria - The rebellious brat Harmony - ... Can't remember Lyric - Needs to be the centre of attention (and the only boy in a family of 7 kids) Melisma - I think she was the quiet one Cadence - Genius Dolce - No wait, Dolce was the quiet one... no wait, he liked attention too. Dammit I can't remember. |
Yeah, Lukas really killed me there. I have five this generation again, so I had my sims listen to kids radio and tv and stuff to get multiples, but I was terrified for a re-run with my last kid. I can't keep track of them all let alone get attached to most of the younger ones. *crosses fingers for less children in future roll*
|
You can get multiples by listening to the kids radio/watching kids tv? I never knew that.
Both my kids this generation somehow have blonde hair. Noone in the family has blonde hair, and the two kids have two different fathers, one from Egypt and one from the town. What the hell, game. Always messing with my kids' hair color. xD |
3.0 - Beginning Again
Update. I'm trying to figure out a way I can improve my writing, and I'm failing. ![]() |
Reya - How in the world did you get seven kids? I'm assuming this wasn't for this legacy? I think I'd personally reject such a roll. :P
|
I've been cursed with the big families so far for this legacy, 4 kids in the first gen, and now 5 in gen 2. And while I don't want to give spoilers for my gen 3 roll, I'm not so lucky as to have rolled 1 or 2 kids. Or three. Or four. =P
|
I love having lots of kids! (Unless I rolled perfect children, then I would hate it!) My just for fun game, my active sim Bethany Mallory has 8 children, and doesn't seem to want to stop. lol I have woohooer, with TFB and risky set to autonomous, though I lower the chances of pregnancy from their default settings. None of the kids were the result of any action I caused to happen, they were all the sims do their autonomous thing!
While you may be *cursed* Cali, all I can think is---oh cool! More Brannon babies! :lovestruc |

Nirar - I also love having lots of kids! I'm actually thinking of altering the number of kids roll for my personal use because I don't like having just one kid. I would have the roll start at two kids instead of one...

I'm fine playing with multiple children. The challenge is pretty fun. But I can't play AND write a detailed story about a large number of kids very well, especially since I shortened my legacy lifespan to Medium.

Frist Baby is born |
|
Hey, Skye. Just out of curiosity, are you from the States or from another country?
|
Skyegal: Can you please edit your last post instead of double posting?
|
I've had random triplets hit before. I immediately went into one of Twallan's mods (can't for the life of me remember which one) and killed the chance of that ever happening again. I don't mind if there are three or four kids, I just can't handle the endless cycle of feedings and diaper changes and social interactions that come with multiples. So much easier with just one infant/toddler at a time for me.
|
I've also had twins born without kids music or tv, but EVERY time I let the mom listen to kids music or tv, she gets multiples.
|
![]() Oh, that rascally little Phantom, messing with everything... |
I am from england and sorry about the double posting. The computer crashed and I didn't think it had posted so I did it again. Well Generation 4 has had another Baby thier last for this Generation so I have another post.

^^I'm with Cece on that one. I usually only give personalities to characters that I've planned to use in the future and then... forget about everyone else. The poor spares just sort of fade out of existence once they move out. Haha.
Something to work on. So glad to see so many new chapters! I have some serious reading to do. ![]() |
Huh. I wrote volumes about neighbors that barely ever show up in the story. xD
I guess that's just... what I like to do. |
I have four kids for my first generation (which I'm still on because I move at a snail's pace) and it's been interesting. The first child, Catherine, got lots of attention from me just because she was first and an only child for a fair amount of time. The heir, Jane, and her twin James have the most defined personalities, simply because Jane is the heir and she does everything with her brother in stereotypical twin fashion. I've basically left the youngest, Philippa, to her own devices, because micromanaging Jane, James and their parents is a full-time job. Luckily for me, Philippa has an addiction to the stereo, so she just dances the night away while I'm not watching. I tried to give them all some type of personality, but we'll see if I'll be able to keep it up as they all start growing up and leaving the nest.
|
I think I just want to live in Generation 2 forever.
Is it wrong that I'm enjoying it this much? (I mean, considering an evil insane Overlord woman has enslaved three good honorable men of society to do her bidding...) |

I -finally- have a new update. Pearl's fate is revealed as is Camille's.
Chapter 5-5: Enjoy the Silence |
I know some of you love lots of kids, but I'm sooo relieved I just have two for my first gen. I'm having so much fun writing the divorce (I know, weird) and Isabel's budding personality. I think having her alone (until Simon gets partner #2) has been a great easy first start for me in writing a legacy.
And so here she is, aging up and having her first big adventure! ![]() |
Woot! Go Isabel! Sounds like something I would do :P

I'M NOT DEAD I PROMISE.
My internet has been so awful the last few weeks so I haven't been able to really update. I did manage to squeeze one out about a week ago. The internet on my desktop computer (where my Sims 3 game is and all the screenshots and everything) is still messing up; I'm on my laptop right now since the internet works on it, but basically I'm just catching up on homework (I'm an online student so when my internet goes out I'm flooded with stuff).

You can also buy a park that already exists and 'improve' it, it doesn't have to be a whole new lot.
Improvements could include more playground equipment, or more trees/flowers, etc. Also, it doesn't have to be a park, you could also do a community garden or a beach. However you want to interpret a lot for 'nature lovers' |
Is it time for an update? I think it is...
![]() Random observation, but is it just my computer or is MTS looking a little wonky as of yesterday? Like, the writing's smaller and the topics seem squished. Is it just my internet being a slow old fart? |

But he's 'eco friendly' and 'frugal' so whatever it ends up being (probably when he's old at this rate) it will be natural and cheap. ![]() |
Yeah, the green goal for 1st gen is difficult in a lot of ways, but you do have a lot of leeway in how you want to handle the park requirement. I should add, a fishing spot also works for this, so a lot with just a pond and some trees/plants would work just fine and not cost too much.
