Well It's been a few months but I am giving this a shot again. My legacies tend to get buggy somewhere around generation 5 so I don't know if I will make it to gen 10 or not. So far I am starting out with with teh wonderful roll of a couple + friend, 3 kids He has to become a director, she gets to drive me nuts swapping jobs every five levels and of course my wonderful favorite, the friend is a photographer... If you didn't catch the sarcasim in that, then I am sorry. Photography is my least favorite thing next to the fireman. Fireman job is to glitchy and photography takes to dang long and doesn't have enough books to help you level up. Im not very good with a real camera much less a computerized one in the hand of pixelized people. But, So far I am enjoying running around Egypt trying to earn enough simolions to buy that camera. The cheap one just won't do.

misslaheela 30th Sep 2012 5:13 AM

I told myself I wasn't going to double-update today. I've never published two chapters in one day and normally I wait at least 24 hours before posting another. But, my schedule's finally slowed down a bit and I've had the time to REALLY start working well in advance, so you know what? Screw it. I'm double-updating today

(again) Chapter Sixteen - All of You
^And yes, if you're wondering if the title is hinting at Midnight and her, ahem...recent activities, it is.

Also. Pic of Phantom at the end of the chapter is so wonderful that I smile every single time I see it.

ShakespearesSunshyne 30th Sep 2012 6:34 AM

Happy Birthday, Emma! Hope your year is fabulous, and may you see the return of many more!
And, totally jealous over the new graphics card.

ReyaD 30th Sep 2012 7:51 AM

Update!

5.11 - Total Asshat http://sarisimsrandomlegacy.blogspo...tal-asshat.html

Child Trinity might be my favourite child sim ever. And Markus returns.

Chryseis 30th Sep 2012 11:12 AM

My first ever blog post. Any constructive criticism?

http://chrysrandomlegacy.blogspot.com.au/

I haven't put in what I rolled yet, but I will if enough people like my writing xD

Buckley 30th Sep 2012 11:38 AM

Welcome to the challenge, Chryseis!

@Emma- I don't understand your confusion about Delphy's Dashboard. If it says some of your hairs are conflicting, maybe you have multiples retextures of the same hair? That's all I can think of. It may be best to delete them all and just redownload the ones you really like. I use the dashboard, but I've never had any of my CAS content conflict before. Sometimes conflicts are harmless, especially if the conflicting content is from the same set (I have a few build sets like that), but usually it's best to isolate the problem and fix it. Worlds, by the way, always show up as corrupt in the dashboard. Don't worry about that. It's normal. Good luck with it, and happy birthday!

teal_moonshine 30th Sep 2012 2:24 PM

Colossal asshat is one of my favourite insults Cece.

Ingefaer 30th Sep 2012 3:58 PM

I've fallen in love with several legacies so far! The Avendales, the Overlords and the Twists... Eagerly awaiting new posts (;..

But another question. Are there anyone in here who still uses SimPort? I kinda want to send my Magician Eva Renee away, so her twin sister, Avia, has an opportunity to take a shot at Eva's husband (;?
I would love to add some of you to exchange gifts and send my Sims away on Simport (haven't tried that yet, and right now it fits perfectly into my storyline)

Skyegal19 30th Sep 2012 5:56 PM

Well I have another Update
http://scarlettlegacy.blogspot.co.u...4935a5d347357ad
Also for my Heir, Could you please say Matt or Chole. I don't know who to pick and the poll i normally use isn't working thanks
@emma Happy Birthday
Also I had to move towns because of Glitches and Slowness as Sunlit Tides is such a small place and I had 5 kids in Gen 1, 3 in gen 2 and 2 in Gen 3 and they are all having children and for Gen 1 thier children were having children so the town was getting overpopulated with nowhere to move them

CinderEmma 30th Sep 2012 7:01 PM

Thanks Buckley, that took away my confusion. I just didn't really know what conflicting meant more then anything, I understood corrupt, empty, duplicate, etc, but not conflict.

calisims 30th Sep 2012 8:25 PM

Chapter 15 of the Brannon Legacy is up:

Chapter 15: The Face of His Father

heaven, I keep forgetting to package up a non-CC version of Aouregan for you, but I will do that today. =D

heatherfeather19 30th Sep 2012 8:39 PM

I finally have another chapter! Chapter 2.5 - http://diffylegacy.blogspot.com/201...chapter-25.html

Envie42 30th Sep 2012 9:33 PM

Hi to the new folks (and returning ones) jumping into the random fun!

Loving all the great updates this weekend, I've spent today reading / catching up. I haven't commented on all of them, but I'm trying to keep up. There's so many now I am having a harder time reading them all.

misslaheela's fairy, calisims fairy, ReyaD's fairy... so much unique character, love what you're all doing with them.

misslaheela 30th Sep 2012 9:58 PM

I have a few things I should like to say. *clears throat*

First, Ingefaer (I hope I spelled that right), I'm glad you're enjoying the legacy. Unfortunately I don't have SimPort (I think that's from Showtime, right? Showtime and World Adventures are the only two EPs I don't own) and I hardly ever log onto the Internet while I'm playing my Sims because of the constant spamming for me to share my Sims' memories. (Dear EA: I AM sharing my Sims' memories, it's on a blog where people who actually care about the story go to read it, not my Facebook page where 200 of my friends who DON'T care have to read it.)

Secondly, such a happy day - so many legacy chapters to read! I think I commented on all of them. I'm trying to get into the habit of doing so. If you don't get a comment on yours, it's not because I haven't read it, I just forgot to leave a comment. But I'm trying to get back into that habit.

Thirdly. An update for the Overlords is now up.
Chapter Seventeen - When Everything Crumbles
Lots of drama, coming from a humor writer, so hopefully I conveyed it well. Not a good day for Midnight, sadly.

Even your drama is funny, in some weird twisted way haha!

Midnight is having a harder time than Rufus did, but an Overlord's job is never easy! :p

misslaheela 30th Sep 2012 10:57 PM

I used to write serious stuff. I've written a couple of mini 100-page novels in serious form - one was about a family celebrating their first Christmas without their mother who died of breast cancer that February, the other was about the secrets of two friends since childhood (one was abused by his father, the other caught her mother cheating with someone else and then watched her leave the family forever). I did another one on a church-going family that was actually dysfunctional behind closed doors (really bad parent-child relationships, one kid with multiple suicide attempts, etc). People would read my stories and say they were so good and made them cry and all that.

There's a time and place for that. Then one day I read over my stories and went, "Crap. These are so depressing." Then I started humor-writing and I haven't looked back. I can't write a long string of serious stuff without injecting some form of humor in there. It just doesn't feel right. :P

Envie42 30th Sep 2012 11:05 PM

Sims, to me, are funny little creatures anyways. The facial expressions, the odd and often random things they do, not to mention how very basic and childish their needs/wants are - really lends itself more to humor than drama to be honest. Sure, they have heartbreaks, and they experience sorrow from death, anger from fights - but even those things are on such a different scale than humans, its hard to take them seriously for long since immediately after these tragedies they are right back to playing video games and flirting with the neighbor or whatever other thing amuses them most haha.

I'm really not that great at writing drama, though I've tried to really put myself into my characters and pull out some more human-like reactions and emotions for the storytelling side of the legacy. The challenge itself, and the game, do not often lead to easy drama! I admire those who have been doing this for a long while (CeCe, calisims, heaven and others) because they've got the drama thing down pat! I enjoy their stories and often forget I'm watching silly sims play out these dramas!

misslaheela 30th Sep 2012 11:15 PM

Oh goodness, I applaud CeCe and Becky and whoever can pull off drama with the Sims. They make it so real and they turn their Sims into actual human beings who experience tragedy and sorrow, and they turn the Sims into something beyond what it could ever be by itself.

But I'm with you. Sims are goofy. Even when they're trying to be serious, they're still goofy. I love playing into that and making something totally ridiculous out of it, like an Overlord family trying to take over the world.

ReyaD 30th Sep 2012 11:19 PM

Are you kidding me? I'm terrible with drama! I once wrote a piece about two characters trapped in a submersible slowly filling up with water and knowing everyone else was too far away to help and it still had humour in it! Truth be told it was actually a pretty brilliant level of humour considering the circumstance, and I'm quite proud of the piece, but I always feel out of my zone writing drama.

That said I also don't find myself particularly funny. I just consider my strength to be my story lines.

misslaheela 30th Sep 2012 11:48 PM

Well, if you're terrible at drama, you've certainly worked a lot to improve it.
My problem is I find I write the drama too quickly. It's my natural inclination to not spend too much time in it so I can throw in a humor bit, so I have to work to not rush through the serious moments in my story. If I didn't work to incorporate some form of drama or serious storyline writing, I'm pretty sure my story would just be a bunch of crackpot humor and little else. :P

ShakespearesSunshyne 1st Oct 2012 12:09 AM

Misslaheela, I read your blog for the first time today through the update link you posted here. You don't rush through the drama at all. And your sense of humor throughout it is refreshingly wonderful. I needed a good laugh and your story is fantastic. Keep it up!

calisims 1st Oct 2012 1:40 AM

heaven, I just wanted to let you know I posted Aouregan for you, and anyone else who wants her, on my blog (no CC or Store content). The link is at the end of the notes for Chapter 15.

heaven 1st Oct 2012 3:03 AM

Husband and I did a little day trip today (scary ass drive through the mountains to a quaint little town) but when I get home, I plan on catching up with everyone's legacies and downloading Aouregan. Maybe even play a little. Also, we leave next weekend to go on vacation for 2 weeks so I am hoping to have enough content to post 1 update before I leave and schedule 1 while I'm gone. We all know how slow I work though so nobody get your hopes up. Glad to find I have some new readers that are enjoying the story no matter how sporadic my updates.

misslaheela 1st Oct 2012 3:38 AM

Free time this weekend = amazing. So much time I can spend catching up on other stories and writing my own. I figure if I post several chapters this weekend, then that'll make up for it if I can't get to it throughout the week. So, I have another one.

Chapter Eighteen - Generation Three's Unwelcome Arrival

It literally took me about three or four hours to write this one. Holy crap.

kadience 1st Oct 2012 4:16 AM

So my boyfriend just bought a N64, a gamecube, and a DS. It'll probably be a week or two before I open sims again. I'm having a blast playing games I haven't played in years. :D

I'll try to figure out where my story for this generation is going, and write it out before playing again.

EDIT: Also, Happy birthday Emma.

CinderEmma 1st Oct 2012 4:51 AM

I love gamecubes :DDDDDDDD
And N64 XD
And DS XD
You are so lucky XD (Or deprived that you haven't had them for a long while XD)

Enjoy your vacation Heaven! Maybe I will finally have time to catch up on the Avendales while you're gone haha! I did manage to catch up on CeCe's Sari's (and maybe one day go backwards to her previous ones) so I know I can do it. I'm just really slow at it and only read them one chapter at a time here and there when I have a few minutes between work jobs and home life. Sometimes I wish I had a Kindle Fire instead of a regular kindle, I'd read them on that! (my phone is too tiny) ... my toddler has an ipad (yes he's spoiled as hell) but I'd never get a minute free to read blogs on it, he rips it away from me! .... carrying my netbook around doesn't work either. I'm just on the go too much and when I do finally sit down at my PC I'm always anxious to play a game! Kindle Fire, yes, I'm going to ask for one for Christmas from Sandy Claws!

Chapter Nineteen - And You'll Learn To Fly Too, Little One
Some of Phantom's past is revealed here, and the life state of baby Amaranth is revealed (although I doubt it will be satisfying...)

That's the last of what I was able to write from my last playthrough, so we'll see when I have the time to play through more. I think I'm addicted to writing this story. :P

I actually had to take a break from mine, I was starting to take waaaay too many screenshots and coming up with far too many subplots and detail. I find that if I take a break for a few days, come back and just write up what I play through, I can keep my story from getting too bloated. I mean, I DO want to move onward to generation 2 within the next week or so, haha!

Your writing is much faster and abbreviated so you can afford to be more addicted and hammering out lots of updates - you're already well on the way towards gen 3!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Edit: I am also having some minor PC issues. For anyone using Nvidia graphics drivers, be very careful if you update to the 306.23 drivers - they have caused me no end of trouble (and apparently a lot of gamers out there experiencing this too). I have not seen a lot of technical posts on the Sims 3 forum about it so I'm going to assume its not as big an issue for Sims 3 (yet) - but they are brand new drivers so maybe its just not happening to many people yet. I attempted to roll back to old drivers as 2 out of 3 games I'm currently playing (Guild Wars2 being the only game that doesn't have issues with them) are crashing the drivers frequently. Rolling back to older drivers did NOT help. I finally downloaded a driver cleaner app, had to do the old fashioned reboot into safe mode, clean everything out and re-download drivers from scratch just to get my Sims 3 and a couple other games to play correctly. I'm still not out of the woods yet with Sims 3 either, it is throwing huge blocks of pixelated weirdness onto the screen at times and the drivers crash/reset just last night.
I thought I'd warn people about this. Not saying you'll have the same problems, it depends on your system (some dual or quad cores for example) and the video card maker too. I'm only suggesting you make sure your specific machine and card can handle the new drivers before upgrading to them. Nvidia's introducing a lot of 3d enhancement crap for games that are now supporting that (you have to have the 3D devices for those to play) and I inadvertently went with a default install which put those in and I suspect my machine flipped out. Probably way too much detail for most (I'm a tech junkie) but just incase you want to upgrade your drivers... do a clean install by removing your old ones, don't use Nvidia's handy-dandy updater!
misslaheela 1st Oct 2012 7:11 PM
^It also helps that I lowered my lifespan. That's a move I'm really glad I made. Sometimes it can get hectic like that, but I've already written nine chapters for Generation 2 and NO ONE'S had a birthday yet (Midnight would really be the only one that should be having one soon, since werewolves, vampires, and fairies all have extended lifespans), so it's like, "Ooookay, I need to start moving on," and it's easier to do when I only have a couple more days before Midnight's next birthday, and Amaranth can grow up a little faster.
ReyaD 1st Oct 2012 7:44 PM
Never feel bad about pacing, Envie... these last two generation I've done one update for a single sim day. It's driving me nuts! I must pick up the story a bit.
Thanks for the encouragement ... I've never blogged a legacy before so I feel somewhat pressured by the pace... wondering if I'm dragging it out too much in the first gen. But like you said in an older post, the first generation is often the most difficult because you're just getting used to the challenge rules and establishing a base starting point for your legacy's lifetime. I also agree that its perfectly fine to write slowly and with a lot of detail if you want a more 'epic' story. I'm hoping to keep mine somewhere in the middle.
going with a shorter lifespan is one option as misslaheela does. I play on normal lifespan, but I use twallan's relativity mod, which makes the sim days slow down because I absolutely cannot stand how fast the hours pass in regular EA mode. The skill advancement pace slows down too though, so it takes a lot longer to raise skills! I play at half speed (19 setting).
ReyaD 1st Oct 2012 8:10 PM
I keep meaning to use relativity because apparently it helps with lag. My game usually behaves, but occasionally I'll get a play session where my sims will literally take three in game hours to go from one side of the room to the other.
musicalgirl2010 1st Oct 2012 9:02 PM
Hello!!
I seam to have developed a thing for cliff hangers in this generation (Although this one is not as bad as the last.)
Relativity is one of my absolute must-have mods, I cannot play the game without it. Your sims can actually get up in the morning at 7 and have time to take a shower, make breakfast AND talk / play with their kids before rushing out the door to work! It's a very underrated mod because most people want the fancy bells and whistles that come with master controller and story progression, etc. (and those are definite necessity bells and whistles!)
I don't consider it a cheat mod like much of MC does because when you slow down time in the sims, it also slows down progression as well to match, so its not like you have tons more time to skill up, you just have more time overall which means I have more time to actually enjoy my sims lives instead of rushing them around everywhere. It does make a play session longer however as the typical 90 sims days becomes more like the epic in terms of time it takes to complete the sims life even though its still just 90 days.
Buckley 1st Oct 2012 9:20 PM
That's so interesting, Envie. I've always wondered about his relativity mod, but I've never gotten up the nerve to try it. Maybe I'll give it a go sometime though. Thanks for the information!
Envie42 1st Oct 2012 9:54 PM
Definitely give it a try. It's a very tiny mod in comparison to the bigger ones (MC and SP) and it rarely has any issues. I've used it for a very long time and only recently did it cause any problems because of the moon cycles thing, but twallan got that sorted out immediately so the moon cycles work properly with relativity's slowed down time. It allows me to enjoy my sims so much more.
edit: for those just starting out with Relativity, set the 'interval' setting to 19 speed for starters, and then you can tweak it lower or higher depending on how much you want to slow down or speed up the clock. 19 is right at 0.50 speed, meaning half the speed of normal EA clock. I used to play much lower around 12 or 13, but found that to be a little too slow for my tastes. If you only wish to slow time down a tiny bit, try a 22-25 speed. You'll get a feel for it as you watch your sim's clock and play for whether you want more or less. The mod prompts you when you change time if you want the skill speed to match, which I always say yes so its even and not cheating.
ReyaD 1st Oct 2012 9:58 PM
I think I'm going to give relativity a try. Since I have so much planned for the next day of my play session, and this might actually let me get it done instead of pretending it all happens that same night.
I've experienced the opposite effect. My first generation flew by really fast because I was experimenting with how to develop the story. Generation Two has definitely taken much longer now that I've gotten the hang of it and can slow down. I've also included many more pictures. I'm pretty sure I had nine pics in each of my first three chapters and I thought, "Yup, that's normal, I'll shoot for this every chapter."
BAHAHAHAHA! Good grief.
xD I average 16 - 30 pictures. In one of my Starr chapters, I think I had over 50, and my "big" chapters have 30-40 but I really don't think I've ever done more than that. I try to never let them go under 16 photos though, even if I need to use filler.
calisims 1st Oct 2012 10:18 PM
Becky and I are both guilty of the epic 40+ chapters. Though I think my current legacy has had shorter chapters than my older ones. I don't really count the pictures, though.
NutsAndDolts 1st Oct 2012 10:24 PM
I have a separate folder for each chapter. When I use a picture, I move it into that folder. I try to write until I have 30-40 pictures in the folder. If something crazy is going on, I'll exceed 40, sometimes by a lot, but I'll feel bad about it because I always worry someone's computer will choke, or my readers will get annoyed about the length.
But if I had "short" chapters, it would feel like barely anything happens, and the number of chapters would spiral out of control.
misslaheela 1st Oct 2012 10:28 PM
I have to have my pictures sorted (Overlord Chapter 18, Overlord Chapter 19, etc) because I take a lot of photos, then delete those I don't want, so the names are out of order and it'll be too confusing to find anything if I don't sort them (for example, I have Picture1, Picture2, Picture3, Picture4, and Picture5. I decide I like all of them except Picture2, so I delete it. Then when I start playing my game again and take another picture, the NEW picture will be Picture2 instead of Picture6 because I deleted Picture2.)
I generally have between 20-35 pics in each chapter. Haven't written an epic chapter yet, but that's probably because I'm not a drama writer lol. Drama/suspense writers are a lot better at writing longer chapters.
CyyKosis 1st Oct 2012 10:33 PM
I'm guilty of short chapters *blushes*
When I blog, I'll upload one or two pics at a time and then write the descriptions for them. When I go to upload the next couple I'll drag the used ones into my "Past" folder so I don't have to look past them in the future.
Envie42 1st Oct 2012 10:59 PM
Oh its neat to hear you all use a similar folder format to what I've tried to do. I take all my shots from one or two play sessions and dump them into one folder. Then I cull out the ones I know I'm not gong to use or repetitive stuff, then I make a "used" folder for that chapter and dump the pics in there as I write and use them. This is so fun because for me, the pictures end up writing the story more than me writing a story and trying to make pictures for it. Occasionally I'll think while playing that I want a certain kind of scene but when I go to write, it doesn't really end up working at all. I just don't script the scenes ingame much at all if I can help it other than staging parties or building a 'set' for a specific story need... I'm getting ready to do that next with a ' science lab' for Simon's workplace since there's nothing for the imagination when they go into a rabbit hole
PS: Speaking of elaborate sets (like calisims gorgeous medieval settings) - have you all seen this?
http://www.modthesims.info/showthre...d=1#post3975483
aaaamazing. I can't wait to give it a try, though I don't need one more world to obsess over right now with my limited playtime, aargh! Sooo pretty! (If you like medieval settings that is)
heaven 1st Oct 2012 11:21 PM
I'm super OCD about how I organize my chapters. Each generation has its own folder and, within that folder, there are sub-folders for each chapter. I tend to take a lot of photos from different angles so I end up with a lot of pictures. I open both the screenshots folder and my chapter folder, half window each of them and drag what I want from screenshots to the chapter. When I'm satisfied, I delete screenshots and start over.
As for the amount of pictures, I started with about 7-10. Noe I don't count a chapter "ready" unless it has 25. I don't think I've ever had one over 30 though. Looking back, I don't think my earlier chapters were as strong.
calisims 1st Oct 2012 11:31 PM
Thanks for the link Envie. that looks awesome.
misslaheela 1st Oct 2012 11:35 PM
I always do a ton of planning and specific picture taking for events that I want to happen (like dramatic events, etc), but most of the humor in my story comes from random photos.
ReyaD 2nd Oct 2012 12:28 AM
My planning basically consists of "Well I figure its about time ____ started dating ___" or even "____ is getting close to adulthood. Better knock 'er up." and then I let the characters decide how to tell their story. The scene with Coral and Nico getting back together was originally supposed to be slapping him and then breaking his heart all over again. But then they each rolled a wish to kiss each other so I went with how it was written in the story instead.
I have all my photos in my screenshots folder, then open up a new document in pages (Mac version of word), write then drag and drop the photo into the document with its screenshot number so I can find it when posting the chapter.
ladykelien 2nd Oct 2012 12:41 AM
My legacy - Satterfield family
So I finally started a blog for my legacy family. This is new to me. It isn't going to be your traditional story telling blog. Instead I am following my sims like they are subjects in a social experiment. I have made the first post if anyone cares to take a look.
Embers Random Legacy - Satterfield/Anthony edition
THis is not the same family I posted about a few days ago. That one was on my laptop and It kept freezing up. Until I can add more ram... I will be playing on my husbands computer when he isn't home.
ashaw814 2nd Oct 2012 1:12 AM
Can't wait to catch up on all the blog posts from this weekend.
And here is my update:Chapter 7: You Can't Predict the Future
Nirar22 2nd Oct 2012 4:40 AM
I have a new chapter up, Chapter 20: Myths and Legends
I finally delve into why Ethan and Ari were in Sunlit Tides. This was a complicated chapter to write, I hope I did my idea some justice in the writing of it. You guys will have to let me know what you think.
I am glad I am not the only one that tends to write long chapters. I try to make them shorter, but then it feels like I haven't gotten anywhere in the story. The amount of pictures I use varies, I take hundreds of them, but only use the ones that I think will work for what I am writing. The pictures do tend to drive the story though.
I have all my pics sorted into chapter files, and I usually label them something that will remind me what they are. Like if its a birthday, I'll label it Kits bday, or something to that effect.
Speaking of birthdays, Happy Birthday Emma! I hope you have a lovely one!
Willow's Tara 2nd Oct 2012 5:08 AM
Hi all, sorry for no update again. Still might be a bit if anyone wants to know. Actually do you guys remember a few pages back you were talking about Sims 3 making the computer get hotter?
Well I think I just realized it's the same with me. I play GTA IV right, and like Sims 3 the graphics option is all the way down (It's not too bad, I played SA enough, same with Sims 2 to be used to it). However I noticed in 1 hour of playing Sims 3, my computer makes much more noise (Well, the fan does) and feels hotter on the side, further to the back of the computer, then it does with GTA IV (The fan still whirs alot but not as loud).. So if I am right, Sims 3 is making my computer work harder then GTA IV. Which explains why this damn graphics card got fried in the first place or got close to it, because I was playing Sims 3 a lot more just before I had to get a new fan because it was melting the GC or something.
Update!
5.12 - Cliche Love Stories http://sarisimsrandomlegacy.blogspo...ve-stories.html
A bit of insight into just what went down with Danika, and Fawn becomes Watcher's favourite side character. Even if her manner of speech makes me want to, like, claw my eyes out.
leriety 2nd Oct 2012 12:17 PM
Hi I wanted to try this challenge, I'm not too good at writing but since most of you post on a blog I wanted to have one too... this is the link: http://spireslegacy.blogspot.it/
NutsAndDolts 2nd Oct 2012 3:23 PM
Uh, quick question. Is anyone else having issues with MC expanded tattoo not working?
leriety 2nd Oct 2012 3:33 PM
Me, I just installed it because I though my legacy founder would look cool with tatoos (she already looks like a professional bodybuilder...) but it doesn't work. When I click on the new icons it doesn't change body part.
NutsAndDolts 2nd Oct 2012 3:36 PM
Yeah, the same has been happening to me since Supernatural, even though the mods have supposedly been updated.
They worked fine before.
calisims 2nd Oct 2012 4:18 PM
It's been working fine for me since SN. It is a slower to move from on body part to the next, but it does work. for me.
Miss Puff 2nd Oct 2012 5:43 PM
I use relativity! I have it set at 19 and it just feels so right, like that's how the game should have been balanced. It's so nice to have time to actually do things and not constantly feel like you're rushed to make things happen for a story.
So guys, I was able to break away from World of Warcraft for a little while, but then the new expansion came out and I totally talked myself out of getting it, but then my boyfriend bought if for me.
Turns out I'm really having fun with it, though! I kinda want to gush about it here, but wrong game forums, so I'll abstain. But if anyone here's an ex WoW player and was wondering about whether you should pick it up again, you can PM me for my impressions so far if you want.
Anyway, that's what I've been up to. I have 2, maybe 3 chapters worth of pictures for my legacy, but I haven't written the story part yet, so that's what's keeping me from updating. After I get my priest up to the new max level of 90 in WoW I will probably be able to drag myself away long enough to deal with other games, but it might be a little while still!
NutsAndDolts 2nd Oct 2012 5:52 PM
I can't get it the tattoos to work for full body or face.
*waves* Hi Miss Puff! =D
leriety 2nd Oct 2012 6:08 PM
The other tatoo locations works for you? no matter what I click they're still just the game's ones
kadience 2nd Oct 2012 6:18 PM
The other tattoo locations have never worked for me.
They did the first time I ever tried it, then stopped after the once.
calisims 2nd Oct 2012 6:30 PM
My face tats are definitely working: Tegan was made post SN and he has a facial tattoo.
NutsAndDolts 2nd Oct 2012 6:46 PM
Hmmm. I wonder what I've done to anger the .package file gods then.
ReyaD 2nd Oct 2012 6:49 PM
It isn't just you, Becky. It isn't working for me either.
ashaw814 2nd Oct 2012 6:56 PM
The expanded tattoos never worked for me either. I've only ever had the game locations. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
I'm enjoying your story very much. It's going to take a while to get up to date, though.
@Miss LaHeela: You've been prolific lately; congratulations!
@all: There's a new chapter of the Corcorans up at http://ginj-corcoranstory.blogspot.com
I've been able to get a face tattoo to work, don't think I've tried any full body ones. I did have to take out MC Integration as my game kept crashing from CAS with it in but other than that I've had no issues
NutsAndDolts 2nd Oct 2012 8:38 PM
Edit: n/m, got the tattoo thing to work. While it won't work in CAS, it'll work when I go to "tattoo" through the MC menu.
Still planning on being lazy with the updating.
Here's what Finley is currently up to, anyway:
Zokugai 2nd Oct 2012 8:44 PM
So I kind of owe an explanation for my disappearance.
I'm unfortunately probably not going to be able to finish the Snickerson storyline, thanks to changes in my offline life. I'm on course for enlisting in the military, which means it could be almost a year before I have anything even remotely resembling personal time with my own computer -- not until at least after all my training is done, and I'm likely to go into a rather techy field with lots they'll need to teach us.
If that passes sooner than I thought, and if you guys are still around, I'll see about maybe reviving it or starting anew when I get back...but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting.
Sorry. :/ I'd really like to finish, but it's just not possible. I promise Altin was going to get a happy ending, though. Eventually.
NutsAndDolts 2nd Oct 2012 8:48 PM
Awr. We (begrudgingly!) understand real life comes first. *hugs*
A lot of us have been around for a long time, so I betcha some of us will still be here, when you have free time again.
It's mostly a matter of I won't physically have my computer on me for up to ten months. :/
Here's a new update for the Twist Legacy!
Ch. 1.14 - "Just Me and My Dad"
Isabel has a perfectly ideal and happy summer with Dad before starting school! (ok so it was just a weekend in sim time, use your simagination haha)
Altin, like all Sims, has the magical ability to go into time stasis indefinitely and never hold a grudge.
I wish you the best of luck on your journey Zokugai! I did 4 years in the military and it was the best decision I ever made in my 18 year old life at that time. I learned so much, I traveled the world and it changed who I was forever (for the better!) after I got out. GOOD FOR YOU! Hooray!!
I'll miss your story, it was a great one. But the online world can always wait. Real Life does have some important bits haha!
Buckley 3rd Oct 2012 1:18 PM
An update from me too!
Chapter 3: A Fling and a Fairytale
http://themckinleychronicles.blogsp...-fairytale.html
I'm determinedly working on getting caught up with everyone's stories. Right now I'm reading Ali's. I'm only on chapter sixty, BUT I will get to everyone's eventually!
leriety 3rd Oct 2012 2:47 PM
I'm updating almost everyday lately do you like my legacy so far? I'm mostly improvising, making up things as I go...
here's my blog: http://spireslegacy.blogspot.it/
I'm currently writing chapter 1.04
I had seen a family tree page on one of your blogs, it was cute and I wanted to make one but I forgot wich blog it was in do you know?
Buckley 3rd Oct 2012 2:58 PM
I've always used family echo for my family tree. Link here.
Also, good luck Zuko! I hope all works out well in your real life endeavors.
And leriety, I've been reading your legacy. It's short and sweet! I'm the one who left the comments. (My blogger name is asimplesparkle.)
Envie42 3rd Oct 2012 3:41 PM
@leriety - I read your blog so far, I liked the plot twist - hard to remark without spoilers! Writing with English as your second language has to be really challenging. Hoping to see a bit more detail and screenshots as you get more used to the writing style.
thank you! that's what I was looking for!
accidentally the first partner my sim had has already a big family on his own, I want to write down all the half siblings for future reference
here's my legacy's family tree: http://www.familyecho.com/?p=START&...489133325356262
Buckley 3rd Oct 2012 5:02 PM
This is probably a stupid question, but is the "sulk" interaction for children and teens new? Or has it been there since Generations and I just now noticed it? (Which is very possible, considering I always let my Sim kids off the hook after they get scolded. I'm such a sucker, lol.)
Edit: Added a couple of pictures, cause I thought it was too cute. The kid is just some random Sim from a family that I'm using to play test a house I built.
teal_moonshine 3rd Oct 2012 5:44 PM
I'm going to assume it's new. Like "check for monsters" for kids and their beds (neurotic children find them, along with some other traits maybe. "Normal" kids find nothing)
Either that it we're both quite oblivious.
ReyaD 3rd Oct 2012 6:09 PM
I think I've seen the sulking thing before SN but now I'm not sure... Checking for monsters under the bed is adorable.
Also: Relativity = OMG WHY HAVE I NEVER USED THIS BEFORE? I don't have to ignore the twins now! They can have personalities AND I can work on skilling everyone normally!
And lag's gone down a shit ton. Wtf. Why did no one tell me about this mod a year ago?
Edit: One last thing... this is a blooper photo I won't be using in my next chapter but it made me lol. Damn teenage boys have a one track mind!
heaven 3rd Oct 2012 6:32 PM
I've never seen sulking but, then again I always reset my sims when they try to scold kids for stupid shit. I hate the punishment system and never let it follow through.
Envie42 3rd Oct 2012 8:04 PM
@CeCe: That screenshot made me laugh right out loud, for real! I have a lot of funny blooper shots too I should someday post. One of them, the Mom kept smashing the newborn because she would clap excitedly while holding the baby. I'm not sure why some of my Sims get that bug, but they continue to hold the larva infant in one hand while clapping, ugh!
Also, I'm so glad you're enjoying Relativity. It really is truly a miracle game-saver particularly for storytelling. Now you have time to do more things and take more screenshots! haha.
@Buckley: I think the sulk thing is new, though I do remember some of my teens sulking (or at least doing an emote like it) after they got in trouble for being out after curfew, but I don't think there's actually been a 'sulk' command to choose from. I love it!
I also love the check for monsters, but Isabel, being brave, checks for monsters constantly and because she's not afraid, the monsters grab out from under the bed and she just shrugs, its hilarious. She did finally get scared and refused to sleep in her bed, she's been sleeping in her treehouse or the tent (at their new house).
** I have a question also: Does anyone know where you can find the special collectible object "mini dinosaur model" or something like that? I worked really hard to have Cupid find all three parts of the mini dinosaur replica and then had it assembled with Isabel so she could proudly display her first "Dragon" bones sculpture... but then I did a stupid thing and had the family move into their new house and forgot to pack it into the family inventory. By the time I remembered, someone else had moved in their old house and the statue poofed! ... I could have sworn it was an object you can get in the buydebug category but now I cannot find it to replace the now missing one. Boo! At least I got some screenshots of it when they first constructed it for my story. I wanted Isabel to keep it in her new room. Oh well.
Edit: Nevermind, I found the statue I was thinking of, its the bird skeleton thing, not a dinosaur. Blah. Well I guess Isabel and Cupid will be going back out searching for more digging holes haha!
NutsAndDolts 3rd Oct 2012 8:13 PM
I haven't had kids in my game since Supernatural, so all this is news to me. I don't really like the idea of there actually being monsters under their beds. xD Poor dears.
Good luck, Envie! =(
I was hoping Gem would find a monster under his bed to make it so he became neurotic when he was older but it never happened. Now I'm hoping for Maven to find one under his bed so I can say Marise made it appear to scare him. >: D
hjaxon1701 3rd Oct 2012 8:24 PM
I'm late to the birthday wishing, but happy belated birthday Emma!
Good luck, Zokugai! I'm sorry you'll have to leave us for awhile, but I hope you do come back when you are able. Best wishes on your new endeavors.
Everybody's been busy, there are so many updates I have to catch up on! I'm taking tonight off from homework, so I'm going to try to write my next chapter tonight and hopefully post it tonight or tomorrow. Oddly enough, my chapter after that is already partially written, because for some reason I have an easier time writing chapters in advance than I do writing the next one. Go figure.
Cece, that blooper is hilarious.
Edit to add (question for anyone): I want to add some effects to some of my pictures for some upcoming chapters. I have a program which can add effects to the whole picture but I can't find a way of adding an effect to just part of the picture. Does anyone have any suggestions?
NutsAndDolts 3rd Oct 2012 9:26 PM
I'm pathetic with image editing, when it's not just "apply grayscale" or something. The best I can do for "special effects" in my screenshots is make careful use of fog emitter codes. =/
calisims 3rd Oct 2012 10:12 PM
I also almost always use fog emitter effects. But in some rare cases I've used photoshop. What I do is duplicate the layer, so that I have two layers of the same image on top of one another. Then, I erase everything in the top layer that I don't want to apply the effect to. (if you can hide the bottom layer while you are erasing, that makes it easier to see what you are erasing). Then you can apply the effect on the top layer.
That's what I did for this picture:
leriety 3rd Oct 2012 10:39 PM
Do you guys have a story already before starting or you just play and see what happen? sometimes I'm very confused
I just finished the fourth part: http://spireslegacy.blogspot.it/
ReyaD 3rd Oct 2012 10:43 PM
I have a story in my head... my characters always tweak it.
Well, once I do my generational roll, I get a general idea for a story line in my head. Then I go in and play and take LOTS of pictures while I play. Then I start writing the story based on the pictures....and at that point the story tends to take over. So I keep writing the story, even if I don't have pictures to match up. Then I go back in game, start an alternative save point, and use whatever means necessary to get any additional shots I need. It's kind of time consuming and complicated...
Envie42 3rd Oct 2012 11:51 PM
I'm similar to that, in that I start to formulate a storyline in my head once I have pondered the various parts of the roll I just got. Then while I'm playing, sometimes an opportunity or scene will come up spontaneously that just writes the story itself in a different direction. For example. I originally wanted my second generation heir to go away with her Mom and then beg / plead to come back because she was so miserable in the big city (she's the outdoorsy type). But then the opportunity presented itself to write in a runaway scene based on her 'bravery' trait and some screenshots I got with a police officer that just really worked perfectly.
I try to base my character's responses and attitudes on their traits, obviously. My founder is eco friendly and nature loving too, but his flaws are overly frugal and neurotic, so I tend to use those a lot in the way he behaves towards others. Writing a story for your sims is very much like 'roleplaying' in that you're putting yourself into the character and trying to portray them the way you think they'd act and talk.
Trying to write the story from start to finish ahead of time seems much more frustrating and you'll never have the right screenshots and always be trying to 'set up' a scenario that may or may not work. I say just let the game flow and take good screenshots (lots of them!) when you see something interesting happening or when your sims are talking, and then write the story from there. Of course you have to keep in mind your generation's rolls too at the same time.
misslaheela 4th Oct 2012 1:11 AM
I form my basic story based on my roll, then I'll write more as it goes along and I start developing characters more. I have to play with them for a while to get a feel for where I want the story to go.
Alas, I have predicted correctly. Much free time this weekend so I could update many times, and now I'm overswamped with homework. Really excited for fall break next week so I can go home and not worry about school for a little bit! I got caught up on everyone's updates - they're all so good! *sniffs*
I'll try to get in some playtime tonight if I can, since I have a little bit of homework left and some planning for RA duties tomorrow, so maybe there will be an update tonight. Have to stay up late to lock up the dorms tonight anyway, so I hope! :D
