Lila felt her lips being tugged into another wide smile as J.D. tried to angle his face away from her in an attempt to disguise his own grin.

Even though her comment moments ago had been made in jest, she felt slightly as if it were true. J.D. wasn't behaving at all like the maniac she thought him to be on appearance alone, nor as he had snapped at the jock in the lunchroom. Maybe she had affected him somehow, in the least bit. A smile was enough for her.

"Yeah, well," he grumbled through a smile, brushing her hand from his face. "I've had my hands full, haven't I?"

Lila beamed proudly at him, as if that was some sort of achievement.

"Damn right you have. And you're lucky! You could have been spending your lunch with that one kid you nearly murdered at the beginning of lunch!"

J.D. suddenly had decided that he was done with school and began marching toward the exit.

"I need a smoke. You coming?"

Lila delayed a moment. Did he just say smoke?

"You do remember me telling you my father is a doctor, correct?" her eyes narrowed and a smirk was set upon her lips as she jogged to catch up with him. "Yes. I'm coming. As long as you're willing to tolerate the speech I will give you if and when you pull a cigarette out in front of me." She fluttered her eyelashes innocently and smiled wide, as if egging him on. As much as she joked, she would not let him off to go smoking that easily.

No they haven't. I PMed you a couple of days ago, and still haven't gotten anything.

--------------------

J.D. heard Lila's voice behind him.
"You do remember me telling you my father is a doctor, correct?"

He glanced over his shoulder, and saw she was just about to catch up with him. 'Good', he thought with a content smile on his lips. He'd spent most of the school day in her company, and still he didn't feel like parting ways just yet.

"Yes. I'm coming", she said and started walking beside him. "As long as you're willing to tolerate the speech I will give you if and when you pull a cigarette out in front of me."

"Oh, come on", he said in a slightly disgruntled voice, yet smiling to let her know he wasn't completely serious. "I ate my lunch like a good boy. I deserve a break."

He shot her a grin, obviously enjoying the bickering, even though it was far more hearty and good-natured than he was used to.
Then his facial expression suddenly turned thoughtful.

"And coming to think of it...", he added. "You should only be allowed one doctor's-daughter rant a day. And you've already had yours today.

He shrugged his shoulders, turning carefree once again.
"Oh well, I guess you'll have to wait until tomorrow."

"Oh, come on. I ate my lunch like a good boy. I deserve a break."

J.D. flashed her the playful grin that she was becoming so accustomed to. Odd, how she felt she had seen his smile so many times before. Odd, how she felt she had known him long before today. Her conversation with him was accompanied with such an ease that she hardly felt uncomfortable; with him, it was effortless. It was truly refreshing.

"Good boy? Hardly!" she snorted, calling to mind the image of him nearly starting a fight with the jock because he hadn't moved to the side upon J.D.'s approach.

Lila eyed him carefully when his expression shifted suddenly to a more serious one.

"And coming to think of it...you should only be allowed one doctor's-daughter rant a day. And you've already had yours today."

Her jaw dropped open in protest, brows knitting together in mock-frustration.

"Oh well, I guess you'll have to wait until tomorrow."

Lila groaned and stuck her tongue out at him. "No fair. I'm just looking out for your health, you know! You're lucky to have me worrying about you." She waved a hand at him and sighed. "But fine. You want to put another nail in your coffin, go ahead. I will be right there watching you, acting as your tangible conscience!" She grinned widely at him, giving him a nod of finality that said she meant every word.

"Say, where are we going to get your oh-so-healthy smokes anyway?" She watched J.D. with a glint in her eye. "We're technically not allowed to buy cigarettes. You're losing your boy-scout image minute by minute."

AtropaMandragora 29th Jun 2007 9:13 PM

(((ooc: Are we the only ones RPing here? :/ Where did everyone go?)))

J.D. grinned as Lila stuck out her tounge at him.
"No fair" she complained, completing the image of an offended child. "I'm just looking out for your health, you know! You're lucky to have me worrying about you."

That made his grin momentarily change into a smirk. Even though she was joking, she sort of hit a nerve. J.D. wasn't used to other people looking out for him. He'd always had to do it himself, and he'd gotten damn good at it too. If you asked him.
He didn't really think of the fact that if he was truely looking out for himself, he wouldn't get in half of the fights that he did. He'd actually try to stay out of trouble.
But staying out of trouble was something that'd never cross his mind. He liked it too much. And causing trouble was even better.

"But fine", Lila said, waving a hand at him as if giving up. "You want to put another nail in your coffin, go ahead. I will be right there watching you, acting as your tangible conscience!"

"Acting as my what?" J.D. asked, and leaned a little closer as if he hadn't caught her last words. "My conscience?"
He straightened his back with an expression of mock-confusion on his face.
"Nah. Never heard of it."

He shot her an amused look, and shoved his hands deep into the pockets of his baggy pants as they continued down the hallway.

"Say, where are we going to get your oh-so-healthy smokes anyway?" asked Lila. "We're technically not allowed to buy cigarettes. You're losing your boy-scout image minute by minute."

"Nuh-uh", J.D. replied, shaking his head. "My boy-scout image is more intact then ever. Don't you know the official boy-scout motto?"
He patted himself on the stomach, indicating he had a cigarette pack hidden in the frontal pocket of his hoodie.
"Be prepared", he grinned.

OOC: I got mine in a PM, I dunno where yours went Atropa. Did you PM her with your decision? Maybe she only PMed them to people who did that. I dunno, just guessing.

And I'm not RPing cause Georgina went home :P

AtropaMandragora 29th Jun 2007 9:40 PM

(((ooc: Yeah, I PMed her a couple of days ago according to the instructions she left in post #530.
And I didn't get a reply, so I just PMed her again while she was on. Still no reply.)))

Slytherin-Girl 29th Jun 2007 9:43 PM

OOC: Oh, that's weird...I PMd her the first day she had asked us to and I got mine....I'd send you the questions I got but I took the harder ones so they wouldn't be the right ones for you

trampledsneakers 30th Jun 2007 8:29 PM

((I think Lila and J.D. have taken over. xD Everybody else has disappeared. And to make matters worse, I'm leaving for a trip on monday, so J.D. will be all alone. ))

Lila froze when J.D. suddenly leaned in closer to her, slyly countering her own point to make him feel guilty. She arched her back slightly to move away so that she wouldn't be so close to him. Close proximity had suddenly made her nervous. Even though Lila was typically a very self-assured girl, J.D. was just as self-confident as she, and it made her somewhat self-conscious for a change.

"Acting as my what? My conscience?"

She blinked several times and nodded, as if reassuring herself that was what she had meant. Thankfully, before she could get any more flustered J.D. straightened back out and added with a grin, "Nah. Never heard of it."

A breath escaped through her lips and she shook her head with a half-sigh, half-laugh. He was ridiculous. As he walked down the hallway she remained a few feet behind him, stepping on the tiles oddly as she walked. Lila would hop over every other tile, her feet pointing daintily so that she somewhat resembled a ballerina. It was a habit she picked up from her brother when she was younger, and would sometimes fall into it without noticing. Her gaze remained fixed on the floor as she had the utmost focus on where her feet were going, but she spoke again to J.D. with a wide grin.

"C'mon. Everyone has a conscience. Some consciences just speak more softly than others." Her shoulders shrugged and she continued. "Maybe your conscience is just buried a little deeper down than others. I mean, everyone has some good in them, and you and your conscience are no exception." Lila carefully took a leap three tiles in front of her, pausing to catch her balance when J.D. replied about where he would get cigarettes.

"Nuh-uh. My boy-scout image is more intact then ever. Don't you know the official boy-scout motto?"

Lila looked up, shook her head no, and waited for his answer. As if an answer in and of itself, he patted the front of his hoodie, indicating that he already had the cigs hidden.

"Be prepared." He finished with a smirk, and Lila couldn't help but laugh. She lowered her eyes to the floor again, avoiding the black tiles and stepping only on the white ones.

"The scouts would be proud," she said with a mock-respectful tone.

"Know what's my motto?" Lila added with a grin, now switching to stepping only on the black tiles and not the white. "I like healthy lungs!" She laughed warmly, flailing her arms for a moment when she landed on one foot and nearly lost her balance. She probably looked insane, but at the moment, she couldn't care less; she had made it through the school day, and that was enough to make her smile.

((lila's such a weirdo. xD ))

AtropaMandragora 1st Jul 2007 2:28 AM

(((ooc: Awwww, poor J.D. *lol* We'll have to try and think of something, so neither of them will be left hanging)))

"C'mon" Lila said from behind him. "Everyone has a conscience. Some consciences just speak more softly than others. Maybe your conscience is just buried a little deeper down than others. I mean, everyone has some good in them, and you and your conscience are no exception."

Now there was something J.D. didn't hear everyday. People usually didn't talk about him like he had something good in him. Usually they just told him what a bad seed he was, how difficult and mean he was. Never did anyone talk about his conscience and hint that it couldn't be all that bad.
Cautiously he glanced at her over his shoulder. And stopped. Turning around, he simply looked at her with disbelief, an expression of "What the hell...?" on his face. He didn't know how to react to her strange behaviour.

"What are you doing?" he asked finally.

But before Lila got a chance to reply, she saw the vice principal round a corner further down the hall behind J.D., pause for a moment to look around as if searching for something or someone, and then starting towards them.

"Mr Harper", he said, rapidly approaching.

Again J.D. turned around. Seeing the vice principal coming their way, he groaned out loud, as if sensing what would happen next.

"What?" he snapped sharply.

"The principal would like to see you in his office", said the vice principle, keeping a neutral face. "Right now."

"About what?" J.D. said bitterly. "What did I do this time?"

Still not showing much emotion, the vice principal motioned towards the principal's office.
"I believe it was a matter of a broken window."

"What the ****?!" J.D. exclaimed before being able to, or rather wanting to, control himself.

Wasn't that just perfect? Some looser decided to try and be tough and smash a window, and who was the first person to get blamed for it?
J.D., of course. Who else? No one really paid any attention to wether or not he was actually guilty anymore. Granted, most of the times he had a little something to do with what he was accused of, but only because he figured that if they were going to try and pin everything on him, he'd give them reason to. If he was going to get blamed anyway, he might just as well have fun with it.

"Mr Harper", said the vice principle, again motioning towards the office. "After you."

(((ooc: There are several possible exits for Lila there, I think, so... Do what you want with it. )))

trampledsneakers 1st Jul 2007 4:38 AM

((hmm, well, I'll have Lila stick around for now since I don't leave until monday, but I can always yank her out tomorrow by using the VP. :] Poor J.D. xD I'll leave the control of the VP to you so that if you want to get J.D. by himself since I'll be leaving, you can always use the VP to kick Lila out and GM her a bit. No worries. ))

"What are you doing?" J.D. said, understandably befuddled by her behavior. Lila beamed at him, scratching the back of her head with a sheepish expression. She had almost forgotten she was acting strangely; she usually didn't have company, so when she was a goof no one was around to see her.

"Oh--I, er," she stumbled over her words, trying to explain herself. "It's this thing my brother and I--" she was about to explain when the distinctive sound of firm footsteps approached them and "Mr. Harper" was exclaimed. Lila spun around and came face to face with the school's vice principal who appeared to have his angry eye on J.D.

"The principal would like to see you in his office. Right now."

Lila flashed J.D. a concerned expression. What was going on? Immediately Lila abandoned her game of tile-stepping and straightened out, eyeing the vice principal skeptically.

"About what?" J.D. interjected. "What did I do this time?"

Lila's brows furrowed, torn between concern and suspicion. What could J.D. have possibly done? She knew he had a bit of a reputation for being a trouble maker, but from what she had seen of him, he wasn't all that bad.

"I believe it was a matter of a broken window." The vice principal flashed Lila a subtly threatening look, as if saying, 'If I were you, I'd stay out of this and get away from him before he drags you into his black hole of trouble.' Readjusting the strap of her backpack, Lila glanced between the two of them. A broken window? Unless J.D. had broken it before school, it was highly unlikely that he had done it. She had been with him almost the entire day. J.D. swore angrily, and the vice principal gestured to the office.

In a moment of boldness Lila stepped between J.D. and the glaring administrator. With a fierce expression set upon her fair features, Lila gave him a nod of recognition before speaking calmly but firmly.

"With all due respect, sir, how can you be certain that J.D. is the perpetrator? I was with him all day and he certainly didn't break any window while in my company. On the contrary sir, he was very well-behaved. You must have the wrong student."

The man quirked a brow, staring down his nose at her with a condescending glare.

"You are?" he hissed. Lila recoiled a moment, not accustomed to altercations with the administration.

"I'm Lila Kavanagh, sir." she stated plainly, brushing her hair behind her ear. Glancing behind her at J.D. she offered him a meek smile and a shrug, as if apologizing for her weak attempt to prove his innocence.

AtropaMandragora 1st Jul 2007 11:24 PM

(((ooc: How long will you be gone, btw? )))

"With all due respect, sir, how can you be certain that J.D. is the perpetrator?"

Lila's comment made both J.D. and the vice principal blink a few times with suprise. This was the first time either of them heard someone try to defend J.D.. Not even J.D. himself tried very hard anymore, knowing that he'd still end up getting the blame most of the time.

Lila continued:
"I was with him all day and he certainly didn't break any window while in my company. On the contrary sir, he was very well-behaved. You must have the wrong student."

J.D.'s eyes widened. He was completely dumbfounded by being called "well-behaved". Why, just moments ago Lila had joked with him about his anything but well-behaved run in with the jock earlier. And now she was standing up for him? It didn't make any sense.

"You are?" the vice principal asked her, looking skeptical, to say the least.

But that didn't seem to have any affect on her. She just answered his question, and gave J.D. a smile that to him looked calm and encouraging. And all J.D. could think was "Why is she doing this?"

They both saw the vice principal look at Lila, then J.D., and then Lila again.
"Has Mr. Harper threatened you into giving him an alibi?" he asked bluntly.

"Hey!", J.D. protested, understandably insulted by such a comment.
But as he couldn't deny the logic behind it, there wasn't really anything more he could say, and so he fell silent, reverting to just glaring at the vice principal.

trampledsneakers 2nd Jul 2007 3:18 AM

((wellll, I'm gone for about two weeks. But I'll have internet intermittently through-out as long as the places I'm staying have access, ha. Hopefully I'll be able to get on often! But if not, that's why. I haven't disappeared. xD Since I'm leaving tomorrow, I'm going to pull Lila out for now. This stinks. Just when it was getting interesting!))

""Has Mr. Harper threatened you into giving him an alibi?"

Lila's eyes widened in surprise and she couldn't help but giggle. She shook her head no, smiling warmly at the vice principal. 'Time to turn on the sweet-as-can-be charm,' she advised herself, hoping that if she could emphasize that she was a good girl, then he would be less likely to challenge her. J.D. protested quickly before returning to scowling angrily at the administrator.

"No, no sir. Do I look like I'm easily threatened?" She grinned and gestured to herself. "I'm tougher than I look. That, and I have an older brother who could easily take care of him if need be," she pointed a finger back at J.D. and shook her head. "I'm telling you he didn't do it because he didn't do it. You don't know me, which means I obviously don't create problems for the administration, which means I'm a good kid. I haven't lied before, and I'm not lying now. J.D has been with me all day. Someone else must have done it."

Lila shrugged and gave the vice principal a nod of finality. The man eyed her with a tinge of skepticism, but his arm had dropped away from the direction of the office, as if he was reconsidering the situation.

"You realize that in saying these things, you are to be held partially responsible. If it is found that Mr. Harper here has committed the crime, then you too will be sharing in his punishment." His gaze hardened.

Despite his new threat Lila remained smiling, exuding confidence.

"I understand. But I know J.D. didn't do it, and I trust him." Just as she spoke this, a dull ringing sound emenated from her backpack. It took her a few moments to realize that it was her cellphone.

"Excuse me," she managed to mumble, quickly pulling open her bag and retrieving the device. By glancing at the number she already knew who was calling, and what about. In a matter of seconds Lila's expression had fallen, and for what seemed like the first time all day she had ceased to be smiling. In fact, a look of worry was etched upon her every feature. She glanced up at the two males and managed a weak smile.

"I...I have to go." Her voice was quiet and far less self-assured than it had been only seconds ago. She swallowed and nodded to the vice principal, forcing a more confident and happy expression in place. "I'm trusting you to trust me on my friend's innocence. I give you my testimony! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call my home." While sticking her phone in her pocket and sending it into silent mode, she gathered her belongings and gave the vice principal a quick bow of her head in respect. She turned and dashed over to J.D. with a smile, and gave him a quick hug before he could protest. With a nod to him she pivoted and ran down the hall, calling over her shoulder, "Be a boy scout, J.D.! I'm holding you to it!" before leaving the building and running out to her car.

((errr... yes. Feel free to god-mod her a bit to fill in the part before she left and as she's leaving/after she's leaving. I know I kind of made it difficult because I yanked her out suddenly, so sorry. Thanks for being understanding though! ))

AtropaMandragora 3rd Jul 2007 9:12 PM

J.D. and the vice principal watched as Lila left in a hurry, both equally amazed at what had just happened. They stood there for what seemed to be the longest time, first looking at the doors closing behind her, and then at eachother. Neither of them seemed to know what to say.
Finally the vice principle cleared his throat, obviously uncomfortable with the situation.
"Hmr...", he said. "Well then, Mr Harper. I do suppose you're free to go."

J.D. didn't reply. He just turned and set course for the same exit that Lila had used. He couldn't believe it! She'd gotten him off the hook! And not only that, she'd called him a 'friend', and she'd even given him a hug! A hug! He wasn't quite sure what that meant, if he should read something into it. He wanted to, but Lila seemed like the really friendly type, so J.D. didn't know if it'd been "just" a friendly hug, or if she actually liked him. What he did know was that he was beginning to really like her. She'd piqued his interest from the very start, and she was neither the ditzy cheerleader type who'd flirt with anything of the opposite gender, nor the 'bad girl' type who wanted to hang out with him mainly because he himself was considered bad news, and therefore offered a thrill to be around. She didn't even suck up to him, which meant she didn't hang around him just to avoid getting on his bad side.
And being none of the above left her an enigma to J.D..

As he stepped out into the sun, he started walking towards the parking lot where he usually met up with his friends, hanging out by piles of trash they called their cars, smoking, talking, and just messing around in general. They all saw him approach, and greeted him with their usual teenager handshakes and expressions. He then leaned against the hood of his own car and pulled out a cigarette, again thinking of the day he'd had, and considered telling his friends about it, but decided against it. He wasn't really sure why, but at the moment he felt he wanted to keep it to himself. For some reason it felt private, and even though these kids were his friends, they're weren't all that close. They rarely or never shared their innermost thoughts and feelings with eachother.
So instead of boasting about how he'd gotten some pretty little thing to help him out of the sticky situation with the broken window, he listened to his friends joke and play around, eventually joining them once he was able to get the whole thing out of his head.

On top of that, I don't seem to have much to work with here. >_< I'll post something after I get back from seeing Transformers I guess. Or I'll try at least...))

OOC: Soooo what's going on exactly? And where on earth is everyone?

schellikins 4th Jul 2007 7:30 PM

OOC: I just got back from vacation. Last time I posted, Elsye was in a classroom waiting for her club to start...but I don't think we're doing clubs yet.

AtropaMandragora 5th Jul 2007 8:20 PM

I'm starting to wonder as well... Nothing's happening...

~LadyAshe~ 6th Jul 2007 3:56 AM

Ok, I have gotten most of everybodys replies. the next round will be posted sometime tomorrow. Sorry for any delay, but Yesterday was the 4th, and the day before was the deadline. You can all RP your clubs if you'd like.

Akuzhin_SC 6th Jul 2007 2:54 PM

{ooc: I sent in my reply and I haven't gotten anything. Also, I've been really sick and that's why I haven't been able to RP.}

~LadyAshe~ 7th Jul 2007 7:03 AM

Round 4: Midterms!!

Now is when you wish you paid attention in class!
Your task is to write a couple paragraphs (like 1 or 2, I'm no stickler) on anything you would like that pertains to something educational. Nothing like writing about Sims (yes I know you want to, but no) It has to be educational.

PM me with your "essay" Wednesday. Good Luck.
Roleplaying studying is greatly reccomended

Slytherin-Girl 7th Jul 2007 7:04 AM

So are we starting a new school day now then? (already has ideas about what Georgie could write)

~LadyAshe~ 7th Jul 2007 7:32 AM

No, It's after school, but the night before the Midterms. (sorry, I'm so vague)

AtropaMandragora 7th Jul 2007 10:15 AM

Okay... But that means no one will probably RP until that is over, since school's been over for a week, and the only ones to RP about it were me and trampled, and we're done...

Also, the task description is a bit vague. An example would help.
And are we to write in-character, or "properly", because I tell ya, there's a HUGE difference between how J.D. would write an essay, and how I would.

And last but not least; what about those who are in this RP but aren't RPing anymore? There are ALOT of characters that haven't been RPed since the very start, if at all. Are they answering the questions/doing their assignements, and if not, how will that effect the results? Because I/J.D. seems to be the only active gangster here, and if I'm the only one in that clique answering the questions there's no way I can compete with the results of a clique that has two or more active members.
Know what I mean?
