Another career question... if I quit my work and after a while re-join that career, will I have to start from the beginning of the career or do I get to continue from wherever I left the work from.
And what is the fastest way to remove someone from my relationship list other than neglecting that person for a long enough time that my Sim automatically forget about him/her?

Elanorea 21st Feb 2010 9:49 PM

About the career thing I'm not sure as I've never tried that, but with relationships you could do mean interactions until the relationship is close to zero, that way you'll forget them faster.

MdMaxx 22nd Feb 2010 12:30 AM

You start from the beginning again. It would be nice if Sims could take a leave of absence sans pay.

Can Sims gatecrash parties?
My Sim held a party and Lucky Perkins showed up. He wasn't invited, known or a relative of any guest.
He was dressed like a tramp as well with a top hat.

AngelicScot 23rd Feb 2010 10:44 PM

Yes, gate-crashers are frequent in Sims 3. Especially if you have the "Legendary Host" Aspiration Reward.

Your sim will restart the career at one or two levels below where they left off. So if they quit at level 5 then they rejoin at level 3 or 4.

That explains it then. He's the first Sim I've given that reward to. Thanks.

Here's my stupid question!

I've played the Sims 3 since it came out and have never had a problem with "going steady" or "proposing marriage" but I have always done so as a young adult.

Recently my Sim grew to an adult and suddenly I was unable to do either. I could still get pregnant but the relationship options just would not appear.

She was married before and divorced, if that makes a difference.

So is this just a glitch in my game, or can adults not have those options (which seems illogical to me)?

Thanks!

I'm sure this question has been asked already, but I'm not sure where to look for the answer..
Anyways, is there a way to customize rabbit holes? Or does every single town have to have the exact same bookstore, theatre, supermarket, etc.

sfsix 26th Feb 2010 10:01 AM

you can customize the lots, but not the interior of the buildings themselves (it's inaccessible and not used anyway) . you can even delete them if you want or put a bunch of rabbit holes together in one lot. however, if you delete them, i advise you to save a copy of that rabbit hole first.

i have a plaza that contains most of the said rabbit holes in a park - lot setting.

cupcake12winx 26th Feb 2010 10:35 AM

^ Uh, what DOES happen if you delete a rabbit hole without saving a copy of it? I just did that and have yet to play my sim again. I couldn't put it (the stadium) anywhere else. The lot was too big.

Known bug. You will need to get AWESOMEMOD to fix this.

Hi, I´m complete newbie to the game, so my question probably is quite stupid... Can I download a house which was built with custom content (I mean just stuff like furniture, not windows or anything from build mode...) without downloading/using the CC? I meant maybe if I rented it unfurnished? Sorry to bother just don´t wanna mess up my game;-)

Squirrel 3rd Mar 2010 1:10 PM

Hi! I've never played the Sims3. Is there anywhere that offers a free trial? I've found a few free trails on the net but nothing sims related. Cheers!

HystericalParoxysm 3rd Mar 2010 1:15 PM

olivka - It'll just get replaced with game content instead of CC.

Squirrel - Nope, it's much too big a game to really do that. Maybe your local library has a copy you can try, or a friend's house you can go over to?

Squirrel 3rd Mar 2010 1:19 PM

Nope, don't have that option but thanks for answering - save me looking! :-)

Yeah...this is happening to me right now...

I made a sim who's goal was to get every woman in the town preggers (I wanted to see what would happen! lol...it's been pretty funny)..well some of those moms let their poor babies die of starvation and one even died from being electrocuted! (haha!)
Anyway...my sim decided to get the tombstones and bring them home...now two of his children (a baby and toddler) won't go back in their graves...the crying is annoying...somebody help please!!!

Some of the Riverview rabbit holes are different from the Sunset Valley ones. Rabbit holes are objects that can be reskinned, if you know how to do that. Alternatively, there are some "mini rabbit hole mods"... small objects that fucntion as rabbit holes... they have the same interactions, and sims will disappear at them when "going in" to the rabbit hole and so on. These can be placed inside buildings you build, for instance.

If a rabbithole is missing, you won't have access to any careers or opportunities associated with that rabbithole. Doesn't break anything else though.

Unless you have AwesomeMod. It seems to throw errors if you have career rabbit holes missing. That may have been fixed by now though.

My stupid question is, what do you guys do to keep your game more fun? I can't seem to play for more than an hour or two without getting bored with whatever I'm doing. I haven't made it past the second generation in any legacy of mine either.

-- it kinda depends on what your play style is. You can try challenges (lots of good ones in the forum here) or make some sort of goal for yourself (can be career or skills related, family & household, how much money to make, buying the biggest house, fulfilling your Sims lifetime wish in so many weeks) that gives you something to focus on. I am currently trying to get thru' all of the tombs in the World Adventure expansion, it's been pretty cool so far and really kept me interested, had to use my brain quite a bit more than the normal decorating a house and marrying off my Sim and then starting someone new.

Stupid question - my Sim has a 'boyfriend' but I cannot find his house to go and ring the doorbell. They met around the town. Not all the people in the town actually live in town? lol

I tried searching for his house via the friends filter but no luck!

CAW question that might be stupid: I noticed I can categorise lots as Big Shop and Small Shop now. Is this in addition to Market? What does it do? Just generate a map tag? I don't recall these, and was wondering if HELS added them to the game, or if I'm just crazy and forgetterating?

Well, you can have a relationship with an NPC (maid, babysitter etc) so he could be one of them. They do live in town, but in some kind of invisible lot located in an alternate dimension or something Can't be visited.

Or, could be a glitch

Don't know the answer, but if it's like Big Park and Small Park, it controls the number of sim visitors your lot gets. Maybe this was added in a patch in anticipation of Ambitions?
