Nope. I love wedding parties too. Tons and tons. I don't think my sims have ever had a private wedding party.

LOL, I hate wedding parties so much that my husband and I ran off and got married privately while no one was looking. If we could have done it standing in the bathroom like a couple of Sims, we would have.

I hate wedding parties, most of the time my sims get married in their living room with no one watching. Though once in a while, I throw one again, just to be reminded of why I dislike them.

I let my sims' personalities determine whether or not a party will be involved. Some would want the attention, some would be fond of tradition, some would feel pressured by their families, some might just like an excuse to bring the whole family back together. Others wouldn't give a crap about any of that, so, maybe they'll take their vows in a scenic area when the mood is romantic.

Or in the back yard right after the "I'm pregnant" announcement.

Chapter 5-8: This = Love

Also, not so yay, my (new) computer is going in for repair so I don't know when I'll play next. Details in the notes.

I usually like having wedding parties, but sometimes they frustrate me to no end. On my legacy challenge before I started this one (one of those "lost interest at Gen 4" things, you know...), I had this beautiful flowery wedding and invited all the family and friends of the bride and groom. First the groom's half-brother totally insulted him and the groom couldn't even say anything because his half-brother was a three-star celebrity and had to be "impressed" first. Then it took FIVE TIMES to get the stupid bride and groom married under the arch because the bride kept interrupting the action to get an autograph from her 5-star celebrity mother-in-law. Then the groom's half-brother (the same one who insulted him earlier) got stuck cheering and throwing confetti, where he did every minute for the next two days. Then the bride and groom took so long to cut the cake that all the guests left basically saying "This party sucked!" Then, because the groom was a vampire and I'd thrown the wedding outside (I expected it to take like thirty Sim minutes and I could send him back inside), he passed out on the ground after having stupid routing errors by all the party guests who were trying to go home, but jammed the doorway. Then when he woke up, he was so thirsty that he literally almost perished. When I finally got him some plasma juice, one of the guests died on the way out of the house.

Whenever the occasion comes for me to throw a wedding party for the Overlords, I don't know whether to hope that never happens, or hope that definitely happens because it would fit an Overlord wedding.

I like wedding parties too, although whether my sims have one or not depends on their personalities and circumstances.

Okay so I am having a panicky moment right now.

I continued my play today so I could get enough screenshots for my next chapter. At some point I needed to have Amaranth interact with Gator. He showed up. He could interact with her. In fact, he could do anything he wanted. But he was INVISIBLE. Like, completely invisible. I couldn't see him, click on him, nothing. No matter where he went or what he did (because he could still do stuff), he was invisible. I reset him a couple of times. Still invisible. What is going on? Do I need to start deleting my custom content already from game glitches?

When I was playing legacies on The Sims 2 I used to decorate the backyard for their weddings, but with the open neighbourhood we have on The Sims 3 that wouldn't make sense. I used to make them marry privately before starting this challenge, now I actually have a wedding venue but it's downloaded I didn't make it.

@misslaheela: I have that problem too, I think it started with Supernatural. When I was testing the expansion I noticed that guests wouldn't show up then I tried my fairy's powers and noticed her aura on invisible sims... though they will become visible after a while.

Try going into MC and changing his outfit, misslaheela.

Thanks for the quick replies, everyone. I will try that when I start up my game again (I am currently writing the next chapter...Gator will be needed in the next one after this one). Just to be clear (I'm still getting the hang of MC), do I search for him in the database via the City Hall and then change his outfit from there? I can't see him to click on him and change his outfit.

I had a similar problem, but the sims were in the ground. I had to use MC to reset the entire town.

If memory serves you can click the sim and NRass then MC and click basic then outfit.

You can click on the lot Gator is on (like on the ground anywhere), go into MC, click sim, and then basic, and then... outfit or whatever it is.

I'm not much of a party person in The Sims, so I tend to prefer to give my sims private weddings. I'm not sure at the moment whether Kelly and Cyrus are going to go with a private wedding or a party, though I'll have to decide soon!

Depending on which modules you have for MC, you can click on Gator's name in the relationship panel for your active sim and choose NRaas from there as well. If only I could remember which one. I believe it's Integration as that's the most recent one I downloaded and that's when I noticed being able to do it.

Buckley, I hope your pup is okay. Silly things that dogs eat. If she was bad before/exhibiting signs, I might still take her, as teal suggested. Just in case. But I am a worrier. We left Gabe with a friend while we were on vacation and she didn't text me for the first week. I actually had a mini panic attack in the airport on the way to our second destination, freaking out that something had happened to him like getting hit by a car and she didn't want to tell me and ruin the rest of our vacation. Yeah...can we just imagine when I have human babies?

I've always been happy that I don't really live somewhere that is affected greatly by hurricanes (they terrify me), though I am not impressed about the wind warning I'm currently under, since it could end up knocking over a tree and cutting my power, or mess up the internet (don't wanna listen to the boyfriend complain. -_-). I am happy though that I'm not in the states worrying too much over it.

By the way, random question. How do you get werewolves to revert to their human forms without making them a part of your household? I get the werewolf glitch all the time (where werewolves transform for a full moon and then stay in that state forever). Fortunately it hasn't happened to Gator yet, but he looks too pretty in his human form that I don't want him permanently looking like a snarling werewolf around town. >.>

So, out of boredom I updated my game today. I can live without mods for a few days.

I was excited for the Blueprint tool for all of ten minutes. It was amusing at first, and it's useful, but at the same time I dislike it.

Swimming in the ocean is really the only reason that I decided to update in the first place. And I haven't tried the diving board yet.

Oh, apparently I'm the only one who knew they were including all those awesome features. For some reason my launcher is acting stupid, so it hasn't offered me the option to update, but I'm very excited for diving boards.

I have my own little private rainbowcy going on, and I'm making some huge renovations to my founder's house. Normally a founder would NEVER be able to afford the kind of house I'm building (2-story upper-middle class house), but I caved in & bought the game breaker that is the genie lamp. Seriously, the fortune wish gives you ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS! And 2 more wishes after that! I really see Showtime as more of a "let's-make-the-sims-ridiculously-easy-so-5-year-olds-won't-ragequit" expansion, since it also included that really cheap luxury bed.

I don't have Showtime, and to be honest, I don't think I'm missing out on anything. Someday in the future when I marry a millionaire and live in a mansion and drive midnight blue Corvettes, I'll buy the remainder of the expansion packs (plus a gaming computer to play them on). But right now, I don't feel like I need to.

No, you aren't the only one, gizmo man, I knew about what was coming in the patch. Swimming in the ocean will be cool, but I'm not jump up and down excited about it. I am looking forward to the new attraction system, though. But I never patch until Twallan has updated the major mods, and what I'm doing for my legacy today needs Twallan more than anything in the patch.

I knew they were including things like that as well though I was not aware the patch was being released two weeks before the expansion.

I also never patch until Twallan updates. I can't live without my mods.

As for the patch, I haven't even updated to 1.39 yet, and I probably won't install this latest patch until Seasons comes out. I'm lazy, lol. (And I always worry that I'm going to break something...) Also, I'm right there with you, Melissa and heaven. Playing without mods is not something I'm willing to even attempt, and I won't even consider updating until twallan does.

According to Twallan, he's working on it now. I went ahead and downloaded the patch and decided to hold off playing until Twallan's got the mods set. Many of the mods are incompatible, which means EA's done a pretty big overhaul of its base components (or something like that, so we may be in for a treat).

At least this will FORCE me to work on homework instead of neglecting it to update my story. I haven't been TOO bad with that, but I did get myself into a bit of a pickle today...

I hate Tuesdays, so here's an update at 2 in the morning while I try to convince my body to make me sick so I don't have to go to class.

I is sad. I really want to play sims today but I just made copies of my game data to my external hard drive and I'm getting ready to pack Seymour up to go off for warranty repair. *Sigh

Same here. I've decided to skip the patch until twallan's got everything up and running on his end. He's amazingly efficient and quick when they release the patches ahead of the expansion. I think they do that for the mod community anyways which is great so they can have the game code in advance. I knew this next one would have huge gameplay changes and require a lot of mod fixing - so I'm just going to be patient and wait.

I don't have much time to play right now anyways. I've dropped my other games and am only focusing on my legacy for now when I do get a little spare time to play. I want to at least update my legacy blog once a week between now and the end of holiday season.

Also, I'm spending some time each night reading everyone's blogs from my netbook in bed before I fall asleep. I hate making comments from the teeny tiny keyboard though, which requires me to have some sort of light on and be able to see said teeny tiny keyboard, so I'm mostly reading everyone's stories but not commenting.

@Heaven: I've really gotten into the Avondales now that I'm over the hump where you converted it to a Random Legacy! I think I'm moving into generation 6 now and enjoying it a lot (wow Yalena drove me nuts - just wanna shake some sense into her) ... so I'm proud to say I've read ALL your legacy from 2011 and am halfway through 2012 now haha!

@Everyone else: I'm reading...slowly slowly! With not as much time to get on the gaming computer, I'm able to catch up on the blogs even if I don't always comment! This has totally taken over my sleepy time reading instead of my kindle now. You've all corrupted me! :D

Camille's generation is the first generation with the switch and, technically, that one was a half roll. I rolled for kids, partner careers, miscellaneous and generation goals but picked the marital status and primary career. The twins will have the first full RL roll. When I get there that is.

Also, Seymour is packed up and shipped off. Shipping place should have him there tomorrow and computer place estimates 7-10 days to repair and get him back to me. So, fingers crossed, I should be all set to go right for Seasons release.

I'm waiting on the patch for Twallen's mods too. I like having story progression plus the master controller. I'm not sure if I could play without those anymore ^^;

So, does everyone plan on installing Seasons right away when it comes out? I suppose since the patch came out now the mods should all be updated before the game even comes out...

Everyone else here has fairly new blogs and I'm mostly caught up. I've got Buckley's on my task list to back-read eventually too.

@mislaheela Invisible sims :O I have enough trouble keeping track of mine as is! The only glitch I noticed while playing was that instead of my Sim Mommy "carrying" her baby, it was hovering upside-down in the air a few feet away from her.

Just popping in to send good vibes for everybody in the path of the hurricane and for Buckley's puppy. Also, a belated congrats to Melissa for being featured in the magazine!

I also fall into the category of waiting to patch until the mods. After losing my first Sims 3 neighborhood to errors that ErrorTrap could have fixed, I've become paranoid and refuse to play without mods. Between EA's buggy code and my dinosaur of a laptop, I take no chances. Constant vigilance! That said, I am excited for the swim in the ocean option, as well as the diving board.

I'm glad you told me about that before I updated! Now I know a) to download ErrorTrap and b) not to update until the mods are out!

Also, that will allow me to continue the legacy sooner. In fact, I'm going to start work on another update right now!

I know what you mean about needing a story to tell to play Sims. Even when I wasn't blogging, I always had a story going on in my head. But it's much more rewarding to share the story.

Well...what a week. I live in Pennsylvania, so we battled Sandy for a couple of days. Luckily, the area I am in didn't lose any power, but I was stuck with my boyfriend who fusses at my Sims habit. He's gone today, and the power is still out where I work, so woo hoo! I got to play! I hope anyone else who was affected by Frankenstorm is okay.

Congrats on the job AJ! Glad you survived the storm with power ashaw, my parents live in Ohio and they got hit hard with snow but kept power too fortunately. Seems like the east coast and NYC got hit the hardest by the storm itself and everywhere else just got the fallout snow/rain.

I agree that playing is not nearly as fun without a story to tell. Unfortunately I just don't have enough time for storytelling ALL the various Sims games I was playing and so I've mothballed a few of them for now and am focusing on this legacy because I'm anxious to get another chapter out and move into a new generation. I'm much more motivated by the challenge, so glad I decided to dive in and try it.

About the storm, most of Manhattan lost power completely, but our area was one of the few that didn't get any damage or power shortage. Hurray! My mom's car did get hit by a bit of scaffolding, though.

Aaaand it looks like the new patch broke my game. When the launcher doesn't crash almost immediately after starting up, it crashes halfway through loading my save file. I removed all my mods, but it's still not working. Arrrgh. I guess I will wait until I actually have Seasons and see if it works again then. D: What a nightmare.

Just saw this. I'm slow, lol. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm only six chapters into my current legacy right now, so it's not bad. I wouldn't even bother to read my previous stuff, cause it was complete shit. Not that this blog is any better, but I hope I'm improving a little. No pressure though. I understand that real life comes first, and everyone has limited time. (Me included!) Thanks for adding me to the list though!

One of the reasons why I prefer to wait to patch is what you just said, since this patch has just being released we can't be sure it won't conflict with our game. It won't be the first time if they'll need to do a new patch to correct things they messed in a patch.

Looks like we have a storm here too, it's raining like I've never seen it before, but storms here don't usually cause damages. It will continue to rain for the rest of the week, but this first days of November are actually holidays for us so I can just stay home.

Squirrels are mayhem-inducers. Last year, a squirrel got into my school's generators. Knocked out power for the whole campus for hours, cancelling all that day's classes.

We don't have squirrel's here... I don't think we even have an equivalent. We do have giant rats called kangaroos, but they don't really do any damage except to your car (seriously, if you hit one, you're left with a massive imprint and the kangaroo will generally just get up and jump away...). And there's koalas, but they're too high off eucalyptus leaves to go very far...

But when it comes to storms, we're pretty set. Most years theres the threat of cyclones. Summer is out storm season, but I don't think I've seen my dad ever prepare for the "in case" scenario, he just thinks that if it comes to it, we'll drive somewhere to get food...

Hey, I forget now who I was going to be packaging Evenfall up for, but for anyone who wanted her, do you want her packaged with her CC face tattoos, clothes and hair, or do you want her stripped of CC?
I'm planning on adding a DL page to my blog for my shared Sims and I was wondering which way I should go on the CC/no CC issue.

I'm curious about this too, if you guys prefer uploaded Sims with or without CC. I know I personally like them packaged without a bunch of content, but it's honestly not a big deal to me either way so long as they don't come with a non-default skintone.

Melissa, I wasn't the one asking for Evenfall, but I'll definitely download her. All your Sims are so gorgeous!

I make a list (which you've probably seen) for my downloads. I don't stick anything in that could cause issues though (non-default skins and custom hair). Everything else; defaults, make-up, clothes, EP/SP items the game will replace if someone doesn't have it. Though, I do try to put all my sims in regular EA clothes, just for the sake of my sanity and linking. I find it easier to pack sims with the stuff, link people to the content if they want it, and then it will be CASTed properly and in place. If they don't want it, they can easily remove the replacements the game assigns. Rather than not packing it with the items and having to hunt down the items, and then place and CAST to get as close as possible if they do want them.

I agree, it's usually easier to go with no CC, that's how I normally do it. I'm wondering about facial tattoos, because you need a placement to even have face tattoos, if I leave her tattoo on and people without the mod DL her, would that be a problem.

I enjoy playing my Sims and I've never used mods." Now it's like, "HOW WILL MY NEIGHBORHOOD EVER WORK WITHOUT STORYPROGRESSION?!"

This had me cracking up. I can't even imagine a world without squirrels. I visited Disney World over the summer, and there were a ton of Brazilian tour groups there. And they were so fascinated with the squirrels. It was really cool to witness.

Okay, I added a new page on my blog for Sims downloads. I moved the Page listing to top tabs as well, so that's now where you'll find the generation rolls page and the Sims page. I may also post some of the lots I'm working on for Drake's Hollow, which is a depopulated Moonlight Falls that I'm rearranging to suit me. All that excessive parking lot space is getting on my nerves, lol. I built an arcade on the same lot as the movie theater rabbithole, connected to it. And there was still room for 5 or so parking spots in the back.
Anyway, right now the Sims page has just Aouregan. I figure anyone that wanted her already got her when I posted the link on the chapter page, but it's on the page now for anyone that missed it. I'll get Evenfall up there soon, I still need to pack her up and upload her.

Well, THIS isn't good.

After downloading some of Twallan's updated mods (MC with Integration and Extras/Cheats, Overwatch, and ErrorTrap), I popped back on my game to play for my next update. Everything was working fine. No crashes, no lag even. Gator was visible again without me having to do anything with him (except change his hair...for whatever reason his hair was different than the one I wanted on him).

Soren was in school. He came out of school to go to a friend's house. He arrived at the friend's house...and the game deleted him. Like, literally, his portrait disappeared, I could no longer click on his picture in Amaranth's relationship panel (it was still there, but no interactions came with it), he was completely gone. Obviously I quit without saving. This was only about five, ten minutes into my playtime. Otherwise my game showed no other signs of lagging or crashing. But I can't play if Soren gets deleted.

Just before Soren got deleted, I also got ErrorTrap notices with a couple of other NPCs around town.

For the time being, as much as it makes me cringe to play without mods (especially MC), I'm going to remove them all and see if my game turns out better. Hopefully there will be an update by tonight or tomorrow, depending on if my game cooperates with me.

Do not remove your mods.

Use overwatch -> Find missing sims (Can't remember the actual title) It'll bring Soren back immediately. I've had that happen to be twice... and both of them were my heirs xD.

I have another update to share. This one has the toddler spam that was missing from my last chapter. Crystal is such a cute toddler. She's also a very cute child too, I can't wait to see what she looks like as a teenager and adult.

I'm going to put them back on though. Because Gator has once again turned invisible. I'm wondering if it's his CC hair that's doing it, because it doesn't seem like any other Sim is turning invisible except him. But yeah, I need MC to switch his outfit and get him to appear again. So, off to download my mods I go...

Expect a new chapter tonight, though. I did manage to get enough screenshots for a chapter.

Pearl disappeared on me, but I never could get her back so I just moved Gen 5 over to Moonlight Falls without her.

Gator's never disappeared on me, so that's just weird. (Would Am still love him if he got a haircut? D : )

Misslaheela, I don't think it's the hair. I think it's a Supernatural glitch. I've had numerous invisible Sims in my town. Using Overwatch to change their outfits was the only thing that brought them back.

Okay, which MC add-ons do I need to get the CAS feature? I'm trying to install as few mods as possible until Twallan is certain he's got them worked out. I'll reinstall Overwatch and MasterController and see if I can't work with them.

Would Am still love Gator? I'm sure she would. Would the Sim Deity be deeply saddened to cut his hair? Yup. I'm going to keep it on as much as possible.

It also appears Gator's disappearing act is him going into the ground. I noticed him pick up an item and it sunk into the ground as he used it. When I reset him, he still doesn't become visible. He's never had any problems until just recently.
