So I keep starting neighbourhoods with an initial idea, and I have no problem with building and making the terrain. But what I need are ideas for what kind of places these are going to be?
I'm currently playing an old neighbourhood of mine that is always cold and gloomy and very brick-industrial, and 'Hinterley' was to be a replacement for that one, but I ended up rebuilding the original. So now I have a semi-completed hood that really needs to have a different architecture style and climate- but what? The island, Point Halane, needs some inspiration too- I envisioned it as being volcanic, but I want somewhere warm and sunny- without being too cliched. If anyone has any ideas of websites or places where I can get inspiration from, please let me know! |
For Point Halane, how about a Canary Island - Tenerife or Lanzarote? They have an interesting history and very varied geography and climate.

I posted these over in my Lansbury House thread (Creator Feedback) - they're shrunk down versions of the AL roof pieces and had to be remapped. I HATE REMAPPING. There is a small (slight) mismatch with the steel plates versions. They're nearly there though - I'm not going to attempt another edit of those for that because I HATE MAPPING. Just a couple of recolours to put together. They're meant to go over windows like this.
Did I mention I HATE MAPPING! |

I've been working on a cat collar, but I can't stop it from sticking out strangely in certain positions. I've tried everything I can think of. Is it worth uploading anyway?
|
Charity, are you sure you've assigned it to the correct joint(s)? If you have a look at the bone assignments for the original collar, you might see where it's gone wrong. Also make sure the comments are correct.
From how it looks like, the collar has been assigned to one bone, so it follows the cat when it walks around. When the cat turns its head, that bone doesn't follow the turn. I'm guessing perhaps the upper spine bone (or whatever they're called for cat skeletons). Maybe the head or neck bone (again, whatever they're called on cats) would be a better fit? |
I tried copying the bone assignments from a collar that worked, but it didn't fix it. As far as I know the comments are correct as well. I don't really understand bones, so I think I've just managed to reach the limits of my knowledge.
|
I'll post over in your help topic
|
OK so I thought I'd post this here instead of spamming all over the random pictures thread. This, @grammapat, is the finished cakestand (with other members of the tea set) plus the tea plate I made (a simple rescale of the saucer). I'm feeling smug about that cake stand, it was a bit of a bugger to get to work.
I'm just going to get it tested over in Creator Feedback because I can't quite believe I've done it right. |
and one more thing
oh oh how lovely! Makes me want to take up tea-drinking. Now if you could just add some finger sandwiches and sweets. Kidding - you can send them directly to ME. I'll be waiting for your download (drooling). And honey please, no lemon. Will there be options for the table cloth? I'm assuming the table & cloth are part of the set-?
|
No table is just one I have - the cakestand is here for testing if you want to try it out: http://www.modthesims.info/showthre...839#post5323839

I am just done finishing my Multi-PT mod. I started this a while ago, had created my 4 aliens...but could not finish it because I could not assign them new GUIDs!
I hope I won't come up as Alien-racist, but since only men can become pregnant with them (true right?) I decided to make 4 females. Now that dear Quaxi fixed the GUID issue....meet PT 10, PT 22, PT 60 and PT b1, not necessarily in that order as I don't know which is which... I did not go for beauty because..they are aliens, but I find them pretty anyway. Bald and hairless but one would have red hair, 2 are brown and one is blond. (Just checked in SimPE as I could not remember) |

Making some new walls for my beach-lot houses future build.
I had not enough walls in garish colors! These will be the base ones, then I'll add some with left edges, right edges, top edges..etc. Disclaimer : I do not know these non-Sims people. |
One never has enough walls in garish colors - I love them. And they do excellently for beach lots.
Oh, now I had an idea for Gdayars contest. No ... no, nope stick with what I've got I think. |

I was just being funny! As in like..Pfff..I knew this and did on purpose!..while that was not true at all.
Regarding walls, I realized that I would certainly use CFE cheat while building my small beach houses, and that horizontal siding is a big no-no, to me anyway! So, I had to go back into HomeCrafter and craft another set of 36 walls, but this time..cement! or ciment, if you speak french I built a dummy-demo house to test them. You can barely see the crookedness and that was the point so me happy. |
I am SO glad. It took hours, but it finally worked.
My first windows! lol (well technically, I made one before but never could get the wall mask to work = gave up on it) I wanted a smaller version of a tall Maxis one with shutters. That one was easy. Then, I wanted that same smaller window, but on one tile....that one took hours. I could not get the shutter recolors to work as I wanted = slave to Maxis recolors & accepting my CC recolors. You can see a bit of shadow craziness at the top, that's the best I could do and I'm happy with it. From the inside of the house, you can pretend it's mold! How neat... Tada!!! I'm so childish... |
So, where do you post your uploads, Rosebine?

If he is making it as a multi-PT mod and he has 26 PT's in it, then yes. You'd have a choice of 26 different *Parent*
I made a 4 PT multi one. You can see their faces in post 211, if you scroll up a bit. mdsb759 started a pretty interested thread about them here . |

Italianate Starter Home(s) for Westside Veronaville
3 Attachment(s)
This is still just the germ of an idea. In recent posts in another thread, people have been lamenting the dearth of affordable starter homes in Veronaville. This is especially true on the Western (Italian) side of the canal, where the Montys live. As Maxis built the 'hood there are only two empty houses on this side of the canal, both well beyond the reach of starter families without the use of money cheats. By coincidence I had already begun work on this house. In the past I have simply given new houses here a stucco wall covering to try to make them look a bit more Italian, but for this one I've added the similar features to the ones in the Maxis houses in this part of town, a tower and a colonnade of arches. I've also used similar windows to the Maxis houses. The challenge was to see if I could add these features and still keep the price affordable. Well, this house is still far from finished, but so far it only costs §11,654, so I'm fairly confident I can get it decorated and basically furnished, and prettify the front yard a little, while still keeping the price below §20K. This house would require (I think) University because of the windows I've chosen, and I've used the Roof Slope Angle cheat, but I could fairly easily make a base-game version. I'm vaguely thinking of making 2 - 4 of these houses (all different, but basically similar in concept) and making (say) 2 of them base game compatible, while the others might require some of the earlier EPs. (My own highest EP is OFB, but most people here now seem to have all (or most) of the EPs, so there's not so much need to make everything base-game-compatible.) I would of course make them CC-free.
Would other people be interested enough in this idea, for me to consider uploading these houses? |
Oh I like the look of the exterior there - very Florentine.
|
Nothing too exciting - but I've been doing a lot of photographing lately to make a picture wall for my story sims (at the moment they have the collective number of zero family pictures on their walls). It's a converted TS4 mesh.

Starter Homes for the Italian side of Veronaville (cont.)
3 Attachment(s)
Encouraged by the rather positive response I got to my last post, I finished that house. With basic but adequate furniture it costs §19,324. It's very Maxis Match - more or less what I think the developers might have come up with given the same spec.
By Day By Night Floorplan I could have added a few more items (like end tables in the bedrooms), but I prefer not to use up the whole §20K, but to leave a little bit of leeway for the Sims moving in (or their player) to add a few personal touches of their own. I think all the essentials are there. Now to start up my AGS base game and make 2 or 3 similar base-game-compatible houses! |
I really, really like the shape. And it seems to fit so well with Veronaville.
Good idea to leave some § for when sims move in! this is usually expensive. |
I will absolutely download that house As Rosebine said fits well to Veronaville And much needed to that side of the town
|
I made this beach lot and i'm actually pretty pleased how it turned out , it's a cocktail bar / restaurant kinda thing lol
|
After creating the other beach lot yday i decided to make a hotel with the same theme on a boardwalk , i think i prefer this one now , considering uploading this lot it doesn’t contain much cc few walls , floors and a few other items mostly plants
|
I am making fences. Can you spot the 3 new ones?

I FINALLY got my game working again after my game refused to let me open build or buy tabs without crashing. So now, I'm back to building a university town.
This time, I didn't draw inspiration from anything like I usually did. I started with a shape and built from there. And let me tell you, this is probably my favorite dorm building thus far. |
Hey, that's incredible, I like this. You seem to have worked hard on that! Kool.

Something I've been working on the past week - a TS2 conversion (and expansion) of LovelyBaby/Littlequeenny's Lillydoo diaper set
One of the designs It's almost done - I'm hoping this weekend. Got a few more pieces to fit together, and some size issues to sort out. I want it to look good for both toddlers and infants, and a couple of the items are more toddler size (like the white diaper on the floor...), and I also had some small issues with the potty designs and some upside-down textures, but I think I've sorted out most of those. I'm also working on a highchair that pulls crib textures, because I can't find one that's already made (I only found one that pulls regular bedding). And just because they annoyed me, I changed some of suza/Homesims' old items to be placeable on all shelves + shiftable + quartertile placeable (I think?). Small items not placeable on all shelves has been a pet-peeve of mine for a very long time, and it's so easy to fix - it's done with the click of a few buttons, just changing the "object size on shelves" in the OBJD. I use these objects so much it's going to be a relief not having to use so many OMSPs for them. (Edit: Wasn't that easy to fix, it turns out - I had to do some light tinkering in the BHAVs (basically just copy/pasting from a working item). Turned out Suza made the items so long before AL they weren't really AL/M&G compatible. Oh, well. At least I now know how to fix it if the OBJD method doesn't work. Also found a mod for the AL shelves while I was tinkering on something else, so I may not have to fix all the items.) |
Oh wow, that's nice. WAY more technically involved than anything I can do.
However, I've been making custom wall textures for specific things in my towns. I typically build the images I want in Microsoft Word, move them to Paint, and use an image splitter to make them into panels before putting them into the game via Homecrafter. Once ingame, they all look REALLY nice, and rather convincing. |
In Aileen Landing (a populated hood under construction by Jawusa) I just had to add a community lot for dates. Wanted to name it The Restaurant at the End of the Universe - but the name is to long! The hood is a rocky crater ..so I made my lot to blend in..
small dining area beyond the coffee bar this is where the hot happens (note fire extinguisher behind bar) PS I need to find a replacement for the phone and garbage at the street. |
I saw this sandcastle (sand heap?) at ATS, and decided to have a go at making some new toys for my sim kids. The twigs don't override the dolls from the dollhouse, and come in 4 somewhat different shapes and sizes.
The toddlers are also wearing some new outfits I've been working on. The kids' hoodies are recolors I made a while ago on a 3t2 mesh (by FP7). Frustrated teens can smash it to smithereens if they feel like. |
These all look great.
I meant to post before @leah10006 - I loved those paper lanterns in your beach lot. Where did you get those? |
I'm TRYING to recolor my own outfit, but I suck at recoloring, so I might just upload this and let YOU do it.
I thought it was not fair that Miranda had not access to her BF's gym clothes, so I sew one for her, too. The Powah Of E-QualeT-tee....in Red And Purple. |
While I'm at it, I decided to make the TS4 dollhouses into TS2, and decided to extract all 3 states for the 4 different dollhouses (the ones I can get to via the BG, anyway). I'm done with the castle and the "modern" house, and nearly done with the regular version of the one at the top left.
They do look kinda cool even in the broken states (and I've got some plans for them). It's a big job, though. Since the geostates for TS4 can't easily be extracted, this is manual work, and I've been going at it for the past 3 days... That castle was a nightmare! My laptop decided to randomly shut down 20 minutes from the last save on the "modern" house, so I lost a lot of work (but thankfully that one was the easiest), and I also accidentally managed to save over it once (but was saved by the Blender autosaves, phew!). The seemingly "simple" house was the hardest one (a lot of shared geometry). Some of the doll houses have been done before, but those I found had weird broken states and/or weren't recolorable. I also have some plans for the dolls, now that I can make custom ones. (edit: All done, plus the addition of two TS3 doll houses, even resized and turned to align with the TS2 doll house. Now I just have to make some decisions on which dolls to use for the different houses... ) |
I'm impressed that you persevered and separated all those geostates.
|
Continuing on my dollhouse project, I thought I'd try to make the doll object recolorable. And it's actually possible! It's reclorable only when it's being played with, and the kids will start with the original color. Still, it's better than only having one single color option.
Nothing too exciting to see at the moment (I just made the color on the sandheap stick dolls lighter as a test recolor). (If anyone wonders about the skill bar, it's from the original object I cloned - the "garage" dollhouse by Leefish - since I had no idea how to actually add custom dolls. I did manage to change the skill gain from mechanical to charisma, since it makes a bit more sense for a dollhouse, and since I'm really tired of the bunny head being the only and/or most annoying charisma toy. They can get creativity skills from elsewhere...) |
@simmer22 Just in case you weren't aware, there's a new Sims4studio that can export geostates now.
|
Thanks for the heads-up!
I'm done with extracting the dollhouses, but there are plenty of other items with geostates I want to extract. The dollhouses in all their glory! *cough* As per the 4 pic rule, there are more pics here, plus closeups of the dolls: http://gardenofshadows.org.uk/garde...34681#msg734681 |
New babies means new children, which means...new Undies/PJ's.
I decided to use the BV swim bermudas shorts for Boys, and recolor it into..Undies/PJ's. (I use Bloom's SexyFeet Default) But no need a mesh. Then for the Girls, I also used the BV swim bermudas shorts for boys, but I edited the mesh so the undershirt I added had some..thickness to it. Obviously, this one needs a new mesh. |
Now that my computer is more reliable, I've reinstalled SimPE and finished up some 4t2 clutter conversions that have been in the WIP folder for awhile.
I've loved these roof accents from Lunasimslulamai for years. Now that I have a specific building in mind for them, I found a working DL link and converted them from TS3. |
I like the patterns on some of those undies Rose. Also, I like those roof accents too. I could make a tea room. Or a glass house. Or a glasshouse tearoom.
|
Thank you Maxon.
My game loves to crash if I hit Print Screen too hard or hold it for too long it seems. Lucky for me this time, I saved just before taking that screenshot. lol I thought my apt lot needed upgrades and a re-looking to fit my new 'Hood, so this is what I've been doing. I wanted to take more pictures but...yeah. Made a perfect timing for posting in here. Lovely cuz colorful...or yellowful? |

Thank you Lamare.
I use Bandicam yes. But it just started happening. It use to do fine. I tried Fraps a while back, but didn't like it. |
Curtains are fun to make. I didn't know this. lol The only time I made some, it was just a narrower version of CurtainQuaintTwoTile. And it still sits on 2 tiles.
Now, I am having fun with transforming the shower curtain into a regular one. Hey..a curtain mesh already exist... Deleted some parts, as it does not need 3 rows of vertices on the Y axis does it? One at the top and one at the bottom is enough. Pulled on it so it reaches the floor...remapped it etc. Not all done and ready yet, but I am making a bunch of textures for it. Fun. The wooden pole, and both curtains are almost all done... |

But I still continue on, I need a new boy outfit, for Casual and Gym. I know she is right...I asked her opinion because I had doubts! lol I still like it though, for boys. Whatchoo all think? |
Quote: Originally posted by Rosebine
You could get rid of the sleeves, or make them longer? At the moment they look rather like capped sleeves, which I don't think I've seen in boys outfits. I love the shorts! |
Thank you Aysarth. That shirt is a mix of 2 girl outfits...collar and sleeves belong to the top of a dress. I'll try your advice.
The shorts comes from the BV swim for boys, plus my recolors. Scroll up post 254 |
Perhap also make the collar smaller (closer to the neck)?
|
Thanks! That was my daughter's suggestion as well..
|
So, I edited the collar, and pulled down the sleeves, but for some reasons, it still looks too girly!
First pic is after the collar edit. It basically looks like my son with a tan, borrowing his big sister's school uniform shirt... Then second pic, collar edit + sleeve edit. Not quite better! For girls now, it is cute. Well yes! I *had* to make one for them now (using my non-edited first mesh) |
I'm up to a lot of stuff huh?
I have one more... I was in great need of a desk for one of my kid/toddler's bedroom set. The thing is, desks are annoying. You can only place one chair, and only on the right side tile, where you can place a computer. I like my children to be able to play computer games and do their homework on the same surface, and in their own bedrooms! I don't want TWO desks. With desks, you are out of luck. It will be either...homework or computer. I use the desk locator mod by Mog, and like desks, it will only allow the right-side tile of a surface to be seen as available to place the homework...you know, where the computer goes. Enough of this, I cloned a kitchen table. Categorized as a desk, found with the desks, but is an hybrid! Now my children can have this desk, use a computer and do their homework. Both tiles accept a chair, so both activities are allowed. This desk is the same infront and inback. Knees don't get clipped-in. The desk locator works for kitchen tables as well as desks, but you knew that. |
Great idea. I always hated that the chair at the desk always had to be on the right hand side.
|
What was bugging me the most was that I had to choose between a computer or the homework, or if you prefer, not being able to have 2 working chairs!
And now, my desk chair is done too. I'll post a pic a bit later. Here is the desk chair. |
about boy's shirt; in most shipped version male clothing, neck's opening seems to be a circle.
beds in post 271 ( http://www.modyourpanties.com/hosti...846ChairBoy.jpg , http://www.modyourpanties.com/hosti...59ChairGirl.jpg ), did you create those? |
Yeah, in this game, pretty much all boy shirts are plain.
Yes. I created all of that. It is my A Star Is Born, bedroom set. The wall paper too. Not mine are the Humble's computer, the wood floor, the desk locator, the kitchen chairs in the first pictures, the Billy Bookcase, and the small shelf (my white recolor though) (my set includes : a crib, a changing table, a wardrobe, a toddler bed(pet cushion) a pet bed(for pet this time) a single bed, 5 walls, and now a desk and a chair) So far, that's it. |

I've working on the library lot that was used for displaying the Curvilinear Librarium, so it could be uploaded. This requires making some CC, partly in order to not send folks looking for difficult-to-find custom content, and partly to make it more my own. I couldn't find any benches that looked like the ones I wanted, so started making them. Got interrupted by a work trip, and since I had benches on the mind, I drew a lot of sketches of benches I saw in bus and train stations while traveling. Here's a few of the meshes I'm satisfied with so far:
I've hit a snag for the time being with the textures. Since I'm using downloaded textures instead of EAXis game textures, I'm finding that one UV map does not fit all textures, with all the different resolutions and sizes of textures I've acquired. So, slowly but surely, I'm resizing each texture individually to match the UV map instead of the other way round. Hopefully, when the set is complete, there will be 15-20 unique bench meshes, including concrete, metal, and wooden benches. Still working on my bay window project, office suite, add-ons for the librarium, and the cyberpunk computer. The computer looks pretty cool, but way too high on the faces scale: I believe there were over 2000 faces on the mouse that I previously posted alone. Gotta find or make some more complicated textures that will drape over a simpler mesh. |
Not the right time of year, but... Do you want to build a snowman? I've recently made (and converted from games) a bunch of toys. I've got a Star Wars collection and a Frozen collection. It started with Yoda, C-3PO and Olaf plushies, and kinda escalated from there. These are currently deco objects in baby size, but if I get some tools up an running I thought I'd make some working dolls, and perhaps even an Olaf snowman replacement, if I can figure out how. (My nearly 3 year old niece has Frozen fever at the moment. Her brother groaned when she wanted to see the movie yet again, insisting he's seen the movie with her "at least 42 times") |

Been doing a lot of reading of niol, Numenor, and pixellhate posts, and they got me intrigued by the idea of making a transparent custom wall. So in predictable dARE fashion, I dropped everything else and decided to tackle the challenge. Taught myself (finally!) how to use the search functions in SimPE and, after a couple days of trials, I was able to come up with this:
There's a lot of work to be done, but I think I'm on the right track. The walls are actually supposed to look like the blue wallpaper that I stuck on the house but, you know, transparent. At least I fulfilled a long-time want - glass walled sauna! |
Are they supposed to be almost invisible? If not, you may want to do some changes in the TXTR/TXMT to put in a little bit more visibility for the walls. Other than that, good work!
|
They're supposed to be blue. Still LOTS of work to be done. I'm just excited that I actually got any transparent wall to show, after reading 12 years' worth of posts that say it can't be done.

Been a busy boy this week, SIMS2-wise. Fairly sure why that wall isn't working yet, so it's set aside while I wait for a solution to pop up in the back of my mind. Turned back to unfinished projects, chiefly this modular stair set:
Modular stairs that change rail shapes. Finally got the bugs out this morning that were keeping it from working how I want. Now I'm adding color choices. So far I have two wood colors and two glass colors, shown in the pic. Took 120 MMATS! I'm hoping to add two more wood and two more glass colors, bringing the MMAT total to 384, if my calculations are correct. Working on the glass wall led to an unexpected epiphany on another problem I've been having - how to keep snow off inner windowsills but still fall on the outer parts. I originally intended to clone some awnings and make them invisible to make this happen, after lots of experiments with floor tiles and awnings, but... can't clone awnings. Experimenting tonight, and, if it works like I'm hoping, will be able to get back on the Bay window project I've been "working on" for the past year and a half. The stairs are now available for download here , if anyone wants to try them out. |

I've gotten back to doing 3D meshing after a time off of doing so. I'm working on a version of the Tim Drake Robin uniform. My biggest challenge will be the cape mesh, and figuring out how to make it work. So far, here's the work-in-progress:

A tiny sample of the 907 (906, really - I made one of the pants a while ago but there's now matching ones for the other ages) tees and pants I've been working on lately, yet one of my "I'm just going to make a few" recoloring projects that out of nowhere turn into over 900 clothing items. There's around 140-150 different designs of tees, and roughly 55 different pants, for CF/M, TF/M and AF/M (most are repo'd so they don't take up too much space, just 60 MB or so...).
Why so many? I obviously spent too much time googling for designs and digging through the pattern/logo folders I've hoarded over the past few years...:/ |
That's something that puts me off downloading something. About ten recolours is my happy number lol.
|
Not sure if I'll upload all of them, though. And probably not all in one go.

The transparency and mask layers are in the wrong order - (I need the transparency OVER the mask - then, recolors will show, and people can make wallpapers to put on these walls with actual working transparencies. Not to worry, though - I think I've got the layer thing worked out already. Just need to get it to work with standard thickness. |

Yeah, he's been doing that one for a long time, and I'm glad to see it finished. I personally really like the beehive and hairs with bangs, because they have crisp textures :D

Slight update to the Robin Tim Drake uniform. Now has gloves and boots. I also fixed the cape, and works better than the previous version (though there may still be tweaking necessary to fix it). Click the spoiler button below to see the image detail:
