Is it safe to delete folders from the "Saves" folders of families I've deleted in-game?

The "Saves" folder contains saved games, not individual families. The "SavedSims" folder is the one that holds Sims which you can choose in CAS. I'm not sure which folder contains families and Sims stored in the Family Bin though.
If you deleted them in-game then their files should have been deleted anyway I think. |
Families & lots that is saved to the gamebin is stored in the Library folder, i also belive if installing lots/families trough sims3pack it goes there.

I'm trying to throw a wedding party at a nectary, but its not coming up as "bookable". I'm about to try putting a bar in there, but is that going to change anything? Do I have to change the lot type? :S

I think you have to place a wedding arch on the lot for game to treat it as place for weddings, not sure about changeing lot type, i have a lot that is treated as "weeding lot" not sure if i changed lot type or not, it do have a wedding arch though.
Edit: It's marked as a small park (small since it's a small lot 10x15). |
Thanks Belzader, I have a wedding arch there but still no luck. I changed the lot to "exclusive lounge" and was able to book it for the party that way.
Unfortunately... even though my sims went through the "get married" animation (several times) the game never actually recognized them as married so the party was a flop ![]() |

I got a question about the Pose Player. I downloaded it and some pose packs. I tried but how would you do the poses that are with couples and ones that are on objects? I tried it but they don't do the poses together or on an object.
EDIT: I found out it uses MoveObjects On, so I got a few to work except for a few. Because still some of the couple poses still won't get in the right position. |
Pose Player will only make the pose it won't use any object i belive.
So i think you have to make sim do the pose then place them on the object your self or have them already on the object then have them do the pose. |
PunkyBreester, as far as I am aware there are certain lot types that are exempt from being bookable for parties. I don't know which type these are though.
VampireCrowley, I've never used the PosePlayer myself but I believe that you pose a Sim and then position them where you want them. This will most likely need MoveObjects and, I would guess in some cases, an OMSP to place Sims at the correct heights when in seated or laying down poses for example. |
Can you combine sims3packs like you can combine packages with s3pe?

sierrakusterbeck, I don't know if that's possible or not, but I know its recommended to convert them to packages and then combine them that way.
Ugh, so, I figured out why my sims wouldn't get married (though they went through all of the animations and everything). My household already had 8 sims. I have twallan's SP and MC, and every setting I could find were all set to allow for more than 8, but it still wouldn't work until I manually added the fiance to my household through MC > household > add sim. After that they completed the marriage just fine. ![]() |

Actually, that's pretty much what the EA Launcher does, combine all the Sim3Packs into .dbc files (kind of like big combined package files).

Just when I was about to kill one of my Sims I noticed an odd band around his wrist. What is this? It was not there when I took that Sim into CAS.

Is there a way to cut down on the amount of time it takes for the Sims 3 to save?

Not that i'm aware of, i think it's depending on how big your town is, how many lots/households, how many sims in households, how many items they have in inventory, in other words it's depending on what game have to save.

I find that if I save more often, it also saves quicker.
Or am I just imagining things? |
i don't think you are imagining, i belive game use the previous save and just save any changes, so the more often you save the less changes have been made = faster save.

Actually, unless EA made some major change with a recent patch, the Save command does not create an incremental save, rather, just compresses the entire town again as a second "full' save.

What exactly does get lost when I change the active family (inventory stuff)?
1. Sim's personal inventory - fish he caught, plants he grew 2. Fridge - fish he stocked, plants he stocked 3. Travel chests - fish and plants stored there 4. Data disk - fish and plants stored there All of the above, none of the above, some of the above? Basically, I'm looking for a way to keep his perfect plants and fish when I change families. (Most of the EPs and SPs, no mods, no CC, story progression and aging turned off) |
I'm fairly certain that you can use twallan's mods to switch households without losing anything in the inventory. If you want to stick to a vanilla game though (why? WHY?!?), I *think* its just the personal inventory that gets lost..

I had a similar issue with the lot types menu. I could't see the bottom of the list. The mousewheel does work BUT it would make so much more sense for a scroll bar to appear.
What do players who don't use a mouse do? |

I think Menaceman means players who play with a laptop trackpad, which usually don't have a mousewheel equivalent.

I use the mouse wheel to scroll skins and lot types, but, for me it doesn't work on worlds... which I find extremely irritating!

I have nraas MasterController mod installed correctly, but when I go to nrass > mastercontroller > settings > CAS > [make changes] NOTHING HAPPNS!! It's the most damn frustrating thing ever but I can't help but think I'm just making a stupid mistake.

Piggypeach: I've noticed that the MasterController settings for CAS only apply when you access CAS through MasterController (clicking on a sim -> Nraas -> MasterController -> Advanced -> edit in CAS, or any other route).
It is rather inconvenient for when you have the urge to use them when creating a family from scratch, but it's better than nothing. |
This has probably already been asked but I was wondering: When a sim dies while I am NOT playing their household, what happens to their grave stone and is it possible to get it back if it's disappeared?

All sims, I've gone looking for a sim's uncle/cousin/whatever and found members of families I've never touched in there. Story progression (even EA's I believe) takes care of it.

So I have every ep and sp except World Adventures ( I read a couple of reviews that it gets boring after a while). The only problem is, when I create a store, or go into the consignment store, there are no registers! Do I absolutely have to go out an buy WA for them to show up? Or is something wrong with my game?

Don't know for sure, but I would think that if you have AMB the consignment register is there. You might have to place it in build mode (check the "all" tab in the community lot items). Likewise, if you bought the LE edition of Pets, you should have the Pet store register.

Where are my puppies?
I have a family that has a female dog, when I switched to another family, the game instantly created puppies - they are shown as neighborhood pet adoption, this family is ranked as heavy and showing puppies in the family screen, the mother dog knows the puppies (they are greyed out, similar as the sims from other countries) but the puppies aren't in that family when I make them active. When non active, the puppies are shown as living there. Where are my puppies? ![]() |
How do I set an outfit for all sims of one age group per category? (eg: teens wearing uniforms as everyday or formal/lunar lakes adults wearing jumpsuits and dress whites for formal). Is there a cheat or mod that does it?

Appaloosa Plains was a bit boring so I created an arcade under the 'Hang Out' category. I put two mixing bars inside as well (ADULTS NEED FUN TOO, OKAY) and no bartenders have yet to spawn/arrive etc. Is this because it's opened to all ages or do I need a register of some sort? If I add a register, will it only have them buy food? *scratches head* OHH! And before I forget... my one sim runs everywhere. Tried resetting him/merging him back. Tried changing his traits and nothing. Anyway to get him to stop? |

heartbreak, it can take a couple of days to spawn a barman. Yes a food register will let your sim (and the NPCs!) buy food. Same thing, you have to wait for a worker to be spawn. Once spawn a worker keeps this job until he dies. Editing the lot can also cancel the assigned worker and you have to wait again, but that tidbit is old, maybe EA corrected it

I havent played TS3 in a long while, I'm thinking about installing it again with EPs. But I don't want to go through the hassle of hacks and CC. Is it safe to play the game without ANY hacks, not even awesomemod, or are there critical things that can screw up everything without?

I've played the game vanilla before, and it's more annoying than game-breaking. Perhaps try it with a save game you don't care about, and if something breaks, get some mods to fix it.

It's not a bug, vanilla game does that (spawning clones from your sims bin). Now to kill your clone:
* If you use the awesome mod, use the command "nukeimposters". * If you use NRASS' mods you should have a command "Kill by fire/hunger/etc". * Otherwise use the testing cheats enabled command and shift click on the sim, choose "Trigger age transition". |
Anybody have any idea why my game has decided that for the lot in this picture, the carpool should arrive on the opposite side of the road, 30-40 feet away?

This is probably something that's terribly obvious except to me. When I have an adult go somewhere with other sims, their children or pets for example, by using, "visit lot with" or whatever it's called, how do I get them to go back home together? I usually click the sims individually to go home but I'm sure there should be a way to get them to go home together again.

Do zodiac signs do anything special other than the 'Ask Sign' interaction? Will certain signs influence their personality or is it just more of a cute little thing EA added with LN?

I know there is a decorative alien scanner object that came with, I think, Generations. Looks sort of like the handheld spy scanner from Sims 2. Can't say I've seen any alien face images on black backgrounds though.

I'm unsure if this is a standard game issue that requires patching to fix (I really really really have no desire to be social ; - ; ) but I'm playing with the Investigator career in Appaloosa Plains, and every so often, the task will be to stake out a location that has some how error-ed and wound up way off the grid. Like way the heck out of the world boundary where there is no chance of any sim getting to it. There isn't actually anything there, but that's where the starburst ends up. So, is this something that has happened to other people? I don't want to patch.. I'm happy in my obsolete bitch-hermit game. Except for this one thing. >:

Wasn't this how others found out first about the Bridgeport routing holes in the map, that there were Sims stuck in the weirdest places. Is it a named Sim your investigator is supposed to follow? Maybe they were teleported outside the map and resetting that Sim should teleport them back.
But on to my question: Is there something like the apple and watermelon trick for pregnant pets, too? My fool unicorn managed to get his mate pregnant and I wonder whether there's a cheat-free way to ensure it's another foolish male. |

Just a quick question- Is celebrity status/fame only gained from knowing famous sims , late night bands & the three showtime careers? Can my sim be a famous painter? Or is it literally (as I suspect) just those 3 careers and a band? I'm just wondering weather to bother with showtime if it only adds three more career choices to fame...
