Elly, it's fine to do the It's so you makeover in the adult phase.
Also, if you keep the previous generation in the family for the next generation, it's fine for them to keep their jobs, or retire and collect the retirement pay. They don't have to quit. |
I have another update
Chapter 9 |

I will enjoy reading yours soon. I'm thinking of starting a blog myself but am trying to get to Gen. 2 before I do that so I can be sure I will definitely commit to this! I was really pleased with my rolls for the first gen (apart from the large number of kids!) and I'm pretty pleased with my rolls for the second, although I'm praying the firefighter career doesn't eat up my computer's resources like it did on my old laptop! ![]() Calisims: thank you for that advice! I'm looking forward to getting onto the next generation now, and that will definitely make the money situation a bit easier. For those interested, here is my Legacy founder, Miles Cantrell, with his first-born daughter (and potential heir, although I'm waiting to see what the final two siblings turn out like), Anastacia. ![]() |
Aw. Miles and Anastacia are cute, Elly!

But he married Hailey Shepherd, and she is gorgeous, so Anastacia has some good genetics (she's just transitioned to a teen and is stunning.) I was a bit annoyed when she was born as both parents read the pregnancy book but she didn't get to pick both of her traits, and she was born with athletic. But I don't mind too much as it's not a bad trait, and she will probably be quite well suited to the firefighter career. Anyway, off to play a bit more. ![]() |
Chapter 6 of my legacy is up :-). I gotta say, I was surprised when Amanda turned out with brown/black hair - both her parents are blond! And I don't know where her purple eyes came from either!
Chapter 1.6 |
Reading the pregnancy book doesn't make a difference when it comes to picking traits, it's all about the mother's mood while she's pregnant. So, you just need to keep her comfortable and happy.

Good news - my laptop is back 2 days early.
Bad news - my Microsoft Word got deleted. Thus, I have to pay another $120 for it. Worse news - that blows my budget and I can't buy Seasons when it comes out. Better news - Now I can continue writing those chapters for my blog that were waiting. Expect an update tonight. |
Hey, Cecilia,
You know alien abductions are a feature in Seasons, right? ;D |
I do, Cali, I do. I have that in mind for gen 8, actually since I rolled half-siblings. : )
|
Wow! So many computer troubles! I hope everything gets straightened out for everyone!
I finally have an update! Chapter 32: It Begins Reilly finds his Mom, and Rhys finds a date. lol ![]() I'm trying to get through these next few chapters, since I really cannot play the Kahekili's until this storyline is done. Then I'll play catch up on all the blogs. ![]() |
Hey Nirar! Good to see you around.
![]() Update time for me too! I liked this chapter, cause... plot (and I actually feel like I'm getting somewhere with this story). No babies yet, but soon! =D ![]() I'm reading (and loving!) misslaheela's story, but once I catch up on it I will read all the other updates I've missed. Sorry that I'm so sporadic... |
Envie, your kitty is just precious. So floofy and adorable!
Welcome to all the new people! Looking forward to seeing your stories! In other news, I finally found the piece of CC that was wreaking havoc on my game. Everything is running just fine now, thank goodness. Crisis averted! |
Wanna know what sucks? When I downloaded Dragon Age from Origin, it sucked up all my internet allowance (my dad is on an out-of-date 25GB plan... Boo) so now, I can't read stories because my internet speed is that of dial-up... Least I don't need internet for Sims... I've said internet a lot...
Internet. |
*majestic trumpet toot*
MY DEAR PEOPLE! Too long have you waited, and now you must wait no longer! For the tale you have all been yearning for has returned. The hiatus is gone. A new chapter has dawned! For this is the legacy. THIS! IS! OVERLORD!!! .....Forgive my announcer. His name is Rufus. Anyhow, I have completed a rather long chapter, to make up for the lack of chapters all week. ![]() Tobie and Severin age into children, Amaranth has more warm fuzzy moments with Gator, and Zack's fate is revealed. In that case my game is completely borked. I once had a pregnant sim who would've died quite a couple of times if she wasn't pregnant - including a 'death by fire', which did claim her husband. Her mood was through out her entire pregnancy labled as 'miserable', but I made her read one pregnancy book. When her baby was born I had to choose both traits. |
@dragonprincess- I've always found the pregnancy/trait picking thing to be unpredictable. I've had the same experience you just described, but I've also had pregnancies that go flawlessly and still the traits get assigned by the game. However, Carl's guide says that baby books don't really affect the outcome, and I've always found that site to be trustworthy. I suppose if the mom rolled a wish to read a pregnancy book, it would boost her mood to fulfill it, but other than that I don't think it matters much. *shrug*
|
Yeah, my information on the pregnancy books came from sources like Carl and others who look into the game code. My own personal experience has been that I almost always get to choose both traits. Recently, on of my Sims (Shelly) errored out and reset on the way to the hospital, so she delivered her babies with no moodlets in her panel, and the game assigned traits to both her twins.
So, Moth and Tansy had their baby last night...they named him Freddy. Freddy the fairy. Obviously, that's going to change, lol. I'm on the fence between Cricket and Cloudchaser for the name. In other news, we had a birthday party for Aurora and Shadow, and Farrell invited Pearl. While the party was going on, I noticed a 'be wooed' icon in Farrell's queue, with Pearl's picture, and I was 'eew, what kind of creepy incest is this?' But it turn out to be the party 'woo' fist pump thing that party animal Sims do, and not courtship. |
I like Cricket.
Both the name and the sport lol. |
I love the name cricket. That's actually what I named my kitten, well cat now! She is part Siamese so we named her after that cooing noise they make when they jump. I like Cloudchaser better for a fairy though.
|
I lol'd at the wooing story.
Anyway I was going to work on my blog this morning, but my boyfriend wants me to watch the live action Phoenix Wright movie. And let me say, Edgeworth looks too hilarious as a Japanese man NOT to gawk at for the next... however long this movie is. |
Welcome to all the newcomers! I hope you all plan to start a blog so we can read all about your families! I've been stuck in NYC for the past two days. It was awful. It's so crowded...I just have no idea how anyone can live there!
Misslaheela, I'm glad your computer is back. If you haven't purchased Word yet, there is a free alternative called OpenOffice. The word processor and spreadsheet program were pretty similar to Microsoft's versions. My only complaint was their version of PowerPoint, but I didn't have to make a whole lot of presentations, so I was able to live without it. |
Hey, I have a question about the new plants in SN and the gardening career...
Aouregan obviously had to take over the farming career for that generation roll. But as a witch, she also dabbles in alchemy and I've had her plant some of the alchemy ingredients like mandrake and wolfsbane in her garden along with the garlic and tomatoes...would she be allowed to sell those as well as part of the farming career? I assume mushrooms are a given, since they are an ingredient in some of the new food recipes. |
I'm going to need that answered as well for my next generation but I assumed the answer was yes, Cali.
|
The produce may not be edible, but it should still count for selling, I agree.
|
I hope so, because I've been planting them since the start!
On that note, are money trees acceptable or not? I haven't planted any special seeds yet but it will be good to know for future reference. |
Money trees are acceptable, as well as life fruit, plasma fruit and everything else.
|

I think so, too, and it looks like that's the way it will go. But I only questioned it because the new plants are reagents for alchemy so I thought it might be excluded from the gardening career. The money tree crop doesn't have any other use and it's a base game crop, so it was included as part of gardening in the original rules.
But, I'm glad to see the opinions are mostly pro reagent selling. =D |
Aren't alchemists only allowed to sell the finished potions, not the ingredients?
Too lazy to go look at the rule, lol. |
I played Jade's alchemy career as only allowed to sell elixers, not the ingredients.
|
Hello everyone! I have an update to share! My heir has finally been born. You can't tell in this chapter, but he's quite the cutie. Too bad the other family members were less impressed with his arrival.
http://snowrandomlegacy.blogspot.co...lcome-home.html And I've just been playing Winter as selling the elixirs. I almost wish he had the gatherer career though... He has so many insects and gems and metals in his inventory it's not funny ![]() |
Quote: Originally posted by NutsAndDolts
I'd assume so. And I did kind of figure selling the reagents would be fine in the gardening career. I just wanted to check before unloading Aouregan's huge stock of mandrake at the store. She barely has time to mess with the alchemy, and has more ingredients than she'll probably ever use. |
Heh. I had some of the SN plants in Junpei's garden, thinking they could be eaten. I found out eventually that they were useless. /fail
Though I could change next generation to Alchemist, if I really wanted to try it. Gonna see what I actually roll first, though. |
I've already decided to use alchemy as one of my gen 3 careers, so that's another reason I'm not pushing Aouregan to hard to skill up in that, I can save the joy of discovery for next gen.
And since I originally rolled professional sports for the slot I'm changing to alchemist, I'm sure Shelly would be kicking me in the head right now if she could, lol. Oh, UPS just brought me my copy of Seasons, yay. I have some stuff to finish up here for my next chapter, but yay, I can install it tonight or tomorrow before I play. (Though, I worry about my Summerdream sets once exposure to the elements becomes an issue....hmmm) |
So, I am starting a new RL. Not necessarily to blog. Just so that I can manage to play longer than 3 seconds and can experience Seasons even though Seymour is back out for repair. I'm kind of excited to have a "fresh" start so to say even though I really want to get back to my Avendales. Gemma Pryce will be my founder and will be an equestrian. Is it fine to create her first horse in CAS? I know that it says you can create pets at first but knowing she'll be an equestrian almost feels like pushing the boundaries a bit.
|
You can create her first horse in CAS, but you can't ever sell that horse. You can breed it and sell the offspring, though.
Since you can adopt horses for free, anyway, it's not like some huge cheat to start off with one in CAS. |
So, in plotting out the course of my next generation, I've decided that my heir is going to have to do a little bit of traveling to another town in SimNation. I really am not familiar with all the neighborhoods, EA and custom, so I was wondering if everybody here has any recommendations for a good neighborhood that is partially urban and partially suburban, if that makes any sense. Ideally it would have an urban-looking downtown, then some area in the outskirts. I have no idea where to start with looking, so does anybody have any suggestions? I only have World Adventures and Late Night, so that might narrow the field a bit.
|
My copy shipped on Thursday but the code origin sent me to track it isn't working so I have no idea where it is! D :
Still, I need to get a few more days into my game before I can download Season and introduce it into the story. I've been planning this for a while. |
...I'm thinking I can go buy Seasons today. My computer geek friend is getting me Microsoft Office for free, and with the other MAJOR event I'm saving money for (spring break trip to Germany), one of my team members found airline tickets for $1,200 (and my trip leader could only find tickets for $1,800). If I can save $600 on plane tickets...I can afford Seasons.
And a happy day it will be! Of course I haven't installed any of my other Sims games since my computer system reboot. Everything will be new! :D But still be expecting a chapter tonight. I've still got screenshots for two more. I am just a happy person right now. Can you tell? Simply a happy person. |
Happy Seasons everyone! I didn't go to Target today (to buy it), but while I was watching theQuxxn's LP of it, I saw the hot dog costume head & thought "well it should be about 10 seconds before someone makes a penis sim." Lemme show you the hat:
![]() Knowing some of the Sims fanbase, this is highly likely. Oh, the woohoo potential... |
Captain Horndog the Corndog. Ohhhh ho ho. I see future Overlord potential on the horizon...
By the way, it's not at all awkward that I had a hot dog for lunch today and I'm having corn dogs for dinner. Woohoo, school cafeteria! (I'm so punny right now. I just need to stop and go eat dinner. Just stop, Misslaheela. Stop.) |
I'm really excited about Seasons (it was my favourite expansion pack in Sims 2) but I'm a little bit wary about getting it after just starting this legacy. Might give it a couple of weeks to see if there are any major bugs or anything. *cradles Legacy family protectively*
|
Is it wrong that I'm never THAT fussed with the idea that installing new EPs could make my legacy go *pooof*?
|
No. I usually trust that any glitches will be sorted out in the patch (aka the patch that screwed my legacy). Well, they SHOULD anyway.
|
*drum roll*
Seasons...is MINE!! Mah ha ha!! I shall test it very soon!....After I finish my homework for tomorrow and write the next chapter to the Overlords. I have a PERFECT strategy for introducing the weather. >:D |
Should be the operative word.
But ultimately I could delete my legacy now and as much as I might think it's a mistake, I'm not too fussed. Probably helps that I'm not writing a story so I'm not actually getting too attached. |
...Wow. That hat. Wow.
|
Okay, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it on the blog. (Maybe I haven't looked hard enough.) Is Life Fruit acceptable to consume?
|
Life Fruit is acceptable, yes.
|
It wasn't originally acceptable to use any life extension stuff, but we deleted all the rules against life extensions because there was a rampant vampirism outbreak after the release of Late Night.
Most of us prefer the challenge/whatever of not using them... but would set our principles on fire and throw them out the window if we had a good "story reason" in mind. |
I'm just trying to make Generation Four as possible as...well, possible. Now's when my Medium lifespan starts to bite.
|
I want to play, too. And I will. Though I'll be probably swapping out my pets expansion in exchange for late night if I do.
|
My mom bought me Seasons today as a late birthday present! Which is awesome, but...
...She also thought it was a good idea to get the Katy Perry stuff pack as well. She said she "wants me to have the whole collection". Lol. I'm debating whether to install it or not. I fear a sugar overload coming on... Anyway, I'm curious about how you guys are going to incorporate the new weather into your legacies. Are you coming up with a back story to explain it, or are you just kind of going to pretend it was there all along? I can't decide what to do for my own story. I'll probably just go the easy route and not talk about it at all. Lol. |
I don't think it will be different than incorporating other new features from previous EPs. Like, suddenly there were proms and graduation when there never were before after Gen came out.
Though I suppose I could blame weather on a secret MorcuCorp plot. |
Install? No. Place the Katy Perry box in a little black shroud, and stick it with your other sims cases.
Then when someone is looking at it all weird, widen your eyes and say "Don't touch that. You don't want to know what's in there." ...Anyway Thor, God of thunder, will descend from the sky and bestow rain upon my sims for their continued good behavior and worship of Odin. Or, uh, something like that. Actually, I already have a backstory for their NOT being rain in my legacies. It would be a shame if something... ...happened to it. |

The actual story of how weather arrives to my game probably won't be anything too spectacular. I'm trying to decide if the Sim Deity just decides to make weather, or if a strong east wind blows it in.
But how Severin interprets the sudden arrival of weather will be priceless. ![]() Speaking of whom, another update! ![]() This chapter is extraordinarily happy. And then very sad at the end. The game made me do it, I swear. |
\o/ Victory against the expansion pack! I'll be playing tomorrow...

I have an update! And its a damn long one (again).
6.16 - Winter is Coming http://sarisimsrandomlegacy.blogspo...-is-coming.html And thus begins my move towards introducing the Seasons EP. |
Enjoying the story ReyaD. I'm sad that Markus is a ghost now though.
![]() |
So Origin told me I can download my Seasons EP... Only problem is my full speed internet doesn't come back for about 23 hours and 35 minutes... Means its just sitting there, feeling forgotten and neglected...
|
Aw, poor teal! Just play DA while you wait. =D
I really want to install, but I think I should shoot some scenes for Summerdream first, before I add the ep that makes outdoor living into a risky lifestyle of exposure to the elements. They don't even have toilets in that world, let alone protection from the sun, rain and snow. I am going to be jumping in time to the middle ages soon in that story, where they will have nice indoor sets to live in. Maybe I will even let them have toilets, lol. So, if I can wrap up the cave man era soonish, I can install Seasons this weekend. Anyway, I have new legacy update: Brannon Legacy update, 11.14 Chapter 23: Drop Out of the Sky |
I have been playing DA. Wooing Alastair cos I can.

I'm mentioning a backstory, but not going into detail, cause that'll take too much time and end up confusing me. |
As far as weather goes, I'm not going to really bring a backstory into it. I'm not even fully through Gen 1 yet, so I don't think the sudden appearance of weather will be TOO jarring. Right???
|
Quote: Originally posted by Buckley
I haven't decided yet, I'm not getting it til my birthday (at the beginning of December) so it may depend on where I am in my game at that point. I've got a couple of ideas but I don't know if the timescales will work out. |
I don't think it will be jarring. But then I guess I just assume that new ep features are going to show up in the middle of people legacies and I never think it's jarring or needs to be explained. I guess that comes of having been a reader and writer of Sims stories since the Sims 1 days, lol.
I still don't think I'll mention it in the story, but my family just moved from a very sunny world where my founder lived on the beach to Moonlight Falls, which has a different sort of climate, frequently overcast and gloomy. So, if I mention the new reality of rain and snow, I guess it could be in context of the new town being a more temperate zone location than Storybrook was. Does anyone know yet if you can choose Seasons for individual towns, or if it's like the lunar phase where you set it once and it applies to every town you play? I'm suddenly concerned about my Stardust story. There's only a few chapters to go before that story is ended, but I need to keep L.A. set to permasummer. Because it doesn't snow here, ever. |
I'm sure a mod will let you do that, if EA was stupid and didn't let you. =)
Anyway, unless somewhere in your legacy it was specifically mentioned that it DOESN'T rain, my automatic assumption is that it does, but never happens to be raining when pictures are taken. So the sudden appearance of rain isn't any more jarring to me than the sudden appearance of dominoes. |
I'm still waiting for a mod to get rid of that nasty green glow from the full moon. =(
So, I've been reading that garden plants go dormant during winter. Which makes sense. But this could impact both the gardening career and the Homemade and Living Greed goals. Something to think about. |

Ugh we don't need any of that. By the way, it can't flood in Seasons, can it? My (old) hometown was nearly destroyed by a flood a few years back. Wouldn't be fun for my Simmies. |

This was one of my first concerns with Seasons EP as well, long ago when it was announced. I believe I got the answer from one of those Dev interviews / live chat things they posted that YES you would be able to specify which seasons were available or active in whichever town/world you were playing. That way, if you have a tropical island town like Sunlit Tides, it can always remain summer if you want, or vice versa, you have a world you want to be snowy at all times (I do have rflong7's Ice Station which takes place in a frozen post apocalyptic world in mind haha). Also - as to Buckley's question how I will be introducing weather, I'm not going to make any big reference to it as if its anything epic changing in my story. I thought about it, but I just don't have any sort of supernatural or magical plots happening in my legacy (yet) and so it doesn't seem fitting to add a huge dramatic life-altering event such as 'weather' at this point. Fortunately, my legacy story is very early on, and the first generation took place in Appaloosa Plains, which I imagine to be a west or southwest style climate and likely not changing too much. Now that my heir and her brother have taken over as Gen. 2 and are moving to St. Claire, I can introduce weather there (which I imagine being more northerly in location) without it seeming too out of place. I do like the 'magical' references with weather, such as ways to manipulate it (weather witches will definitely be a part of some future story as I am one myself haha). I think anyone who comes up with ways to incorporate weather with the supernatural stories should definitely play it up, what fun! ![]() |
I've started a blog for my family: http://cantrell-legacy.blogspot.co.uk/. I'm going to start reading other blogs soon, already glanced at some to get ideas of how people present them etc, and will get into the stories soon!
![]() I just pray that now I've started this, my game doesn't decide to implode in on itself like it's done in the past. Does anyone have any good preventative measures to keep things steady? I've already noticed a couple of glitches such as Miles going invisible, which I pray doesn't continue to happen (I fixed it this time by sending him to the dresser!) I have Overwatch and will put in Story Progression soon even though it scares me a bit! I save a copy of my game at the end of each day I play, and I regularly delete my cache files. Any thing else that people would recommend? |

Error Trap and Overwatch are important to me. Another helpful twallan mod is 'Saver' which prompts you to save at regular intervals and will even rename your saved games with a number after each. Saving multiple copies (I usually save two incase one gets corrupted) can really help in the event of a disaster. |
Yay, I'm glad you decided to blog. =D
I would suggest adding Error Trap as well, but it looks like you are going in prepared. Feel free to ask any questions about Story Progression here, too. Most of us use it and can help you figure it out. |
*must make my legacy sims stop smoking*
I just wanted to try out the mod a few times, and now they're addicted XDXDXD |
yeah, that's the danger of smoking, you can't just try it out a few times without getting hooked...
seriously though, he included a mode for pictures that isn't addictive, if you just want the appearance of smoking without the addiction. |
@buckley Thanks! I feel like I've re-entered during a hurricane though---so much going on at one time. It's going to take me forever to catch up on things!
As to Weather in my story, it will just appear. No big discussions or reasons. lol I'm still trying to get through all my storylines. I have the next chapter half written, I have to build yet another set, but I am highly distracted by Seasons. I love the Aliens! I really love the spaceship too. I've already got an Alien family, but I am having issues saving them to the Household bin. But I digress---

Ugh. I've been working on my game for HOURS trying to get it to play nice with the new patch, but no luck. I'm now resorting to drastic measures- A full uninstall/reinstall. *sighs*
On top of everything, my DVD drive thingy has stopped working. ![]() Just out of curiosity, is anyone else who's patched to 1.42 had crashing issues with the new "memories disabled" feature? I'm pretty sure it's just my computer, but I'd be eternally grateful if someone could confirm that it's working in their game with the new patch. For me, all it took was toggling it to a setting other than the default (and "accepting the changes") to get a crash to desktop. Edit: Melissa, I *love* your lot! It looks so realistic. It does have a lot of seed spawners but I'll be darned if I ever did find a single 'wild plant' out there and I had my founder's wife Emma jogging all over that place, it was frustrating! I know adding lots with tons of spawners is supposed to be cheaty, but if you want the new supernatural stuff you may have to for AP... I did find mushrooms but never mandrake or the other alchemy stuff there. ![]() Also, if anyone's playing AP and wants a copy of my 'Camp Cinnamon Falls' (with whole non-burnt-up cabin of course), let me know. I'm considering starting a mediafire account. Edit: gizmo that drawing / card is just so WRONG! ![]() |

Wow! So much catching up to do. Condolences on all the computer problems, and Envie, that new kitty is adorable! I'm tempted to come and steal him!

Oh my gosh, Gizmo. Your card made me laugh. And then cry a little. I'll...think about showing the card to Severin.
Anyhow, I have completed the final chapter that I had reserved before my computer crashed. This is also the last chapter before Seasons gets installed (with the exception of a few screenshots that will appear in the next chapter that I took before my laptop crashed). For your reading pleasure: ![]() If you like the werewolves, you'll like this chapter. Severin is OKAY, everyone. No more tears. And a little treat. I'll put it in spoiler links in case you want to read the chapter first. But I want you to identify the person in this picture. |
Wow, I feel like I have a million legacy blogs to check out and catch up on reading this thread!
For those interested you can see my first chapter here and if you haven't already seen the detail for this generation then read here . Not the best photos, I decided after I started it that I would do a story. Also I'm actually playing the game, not just using it to set up photos like I do with my actual story, so they'll never be perfect. |
I think most all of us actually do play the legacy game as well as write the story for it at the time we sit down to update the blog. A few use pose mods to help facilitate specific pictures they want (most notably affection and lovemaking shots) but even their games are still played out by the rules of the legacy around the screenshots.
A few also change details of the game to make better storytelling instead of just reporting the exact movements and wishes of the sims daily which can get a little boring. Like for example, I just had an accident befall my founder (once gen 2 took over). That probably would not have happened autonomously in the game as accidental deaths are rare. But, that doesn't mean I completely ignored the random rolls of the challenge to do that. I still played out that generation's requirements fully, taking screenshots (a lot of them) as I played, and wrote the story in around them. The only 'set up' shots I had for that were in going back and making the cabin look charred/burnt out and having my heir visit it and take some screenshots for my story. Hope that helps and makes some sense. While storytelling is an important aspect to the fun of this challenge, I don't think its exclusive of the challenge and can be done creatively while at the same time using real in game screenshots to tell the story. It's definitely challenging itself, just capturing good shots that show expression and depict a scene but they don't all have to be staged. It gets easier as you write your story to look for interesting content as you play. I take about three times as many screenshots as I'll ever used in a single chapter because I often catch my sims doing something interesting and I think to myself I might use it in the story or I might not so I go ahead and capture it, and again, I end up throwing most of the shots out after I'm done. If someone were just going to write a legacy purely for the story only, I don't think they'd want the added hassle of this challenge's random factor. hehe. |
For me, coming back to do another random legacy was meant to be a break from my other two stories, which are entirely posed and staged and involve absolutely no gameplay.
And in my first generation, I think I used poses no more than once twice. But once I got into gen 2 with Farrell traveling back to the middle ages, and the whole rescue from MorcuCorp's secret lab sequence I found myself staging and posing again, because those weren't plots that could be depicted with gameplay. Even the epic battle between Pearl and Teal couldn't be just a standard Sim fight, lol. Which I kind of knew would happen if I blogged my legacy, which is why I at first resisted the idea of blogging the Brannon legacy. Unfortunately, while I love writing the stories I write, the staging and posing really kill the fun of the game for me. So I'm glad my legacy is currently in a mostly gameplay mode with minimal posing. But sometimes I secretly wish I had the strength to just play a legacy and resist the temptation to blog a story about it. |
Honestly I have such a useless memory for remembering interactions and what they do that I only use poses when I'm staging a scene (usually fights or love making... or in a few cases both at the same time).
That said, even though I tend to plan out every second on my legacy story there are always some gaps and things I can't control (Like when characters die), and part of playing the legacy means I can bend my story to match what my sims themselves want to do, and the personalities they develop. Most of the personalities I give my characters are the personalities they themselves have. I originally wanted to make Nalin a confident douchebag, but he just didn't have it in him, so I'm playing up his eccentric trait. |
I stage interactions oftentimes, but largely I just go about playing my game and taking about two thousand pictures from how everything turns out. I generally have an idea of where I want my story to go, but I always allow for whatever happens in-game (such as Severin and the accident).

Just a quick question to throw out there---have you guys seen the new Greenhouse EA store content? Greenhouse Premium Content Is this going to be too cheaty if you roll for gardener? I do have that roll for my next generation, and I am seriously thinking about getting this, even while I grumble that it should have been a part of Seasons.
![]() Edit to add---Here's the link for the Greenhouse set. It has 2 premium content items, some sunflowers that make a special compost. Stones Throw Greenhouse |
Ooo I really like that greenhouse stuff! - cursed EA for always putting 'extra' content that goes well with the EP out to make more millions, ugh! I rarely ever buy the 'stuff' packs .... I still don't have high end loft stuff and I adore modern decor too. bleh.
I guess I could see how the additional bonuses to gardening (speed, quality, etc) could potentially be considered cheaty if used as a gardener's profession - BUT ... in defense of sims who would want it, that's just smart economics in my opinion. I mean, if you were seriously making the decision to be the best possible gardener you could, wouldn't you want to do anything possible to enhance your success including investing in top of the line gardening equipment and the best environment? ![]() Honestly though, all of the non-rabbit hole careers are a lot of work and there's so much stuff that can be done to make them easier or harder and EA keeps putting out so many things that really seem borderline to me in light of the original random legacy rules, its hard to outright deny players the fun of using so many new gadgets and objects that make their careers not only easier but more enjoyable. The rabbit hole careers are so boring! |
