As long as it doesn't go outside the pre-existing footprint, then yes. If it expands the house, then no, you unfortunately can't

lanawinst 19th Aug 2012 6:41 PM

Shoot! The pool area doesn't look as good if not raised. I guess I just have to start over and find another way to make it work. Thanks for the fast answer

QBUILDERZ 20th Aug 2012 6:39 PM

Sorry for the delays in the scores, guys. College is three days away and I am, very quickly, starting to shut down and raise my defenses. They will be done soon! I promise!

Rishara 20th Aug 2012 8:58 PM

I may have to drop out. I can't find my original sims 3 disc to get the stupid code off of it for the reinstall (all the other expansions were bought online so I'm fine there). Very irritated at the moment.

Did you register the game with Sims3.com? If so, you can get the code on Origin.

Foundation #4 - Non-Participant

So, this one was obviously a monumental challenge! I had two different attempts going until I had an epiphany . So, below you will find out how my inspiration took shape.

I'm afraid that this one requires a story, which I don't usually do.

This foundation was built along the coast of the Barnacle Bay world. It was once a fort that house the local garrison. This fort had cannons, a drawbridge, training field, small cannon tower, a moat, cemetery, and two dungeons . (oops! Looks like someone overstayed their welcome! )

A local architect decided to refurbish this amazing landmark and here you see the results. She was able to re-purpose many objects and tried to keep the essence of the fort.

I hope you enjoy your tour!

PSDuckie 21st Aug 2012 10:21 PM

I finally finished my Round 4 build.

Each of my entries so far has had an inspiration. This round is no different. This time, the inspiration is something that happened in my past – getting hit by a hurricane. As soon as I saw the CFE foundation, I knew that I would make a hurricane-based build.

Now, here’s why I took so long. I flooded all of Twinbrook for this build. That’s right; I created a whole CC world just for this contest entry!

Anyway, here are the pictures. I couldn’t take any pictures beyond the required pictures because the house is completely underwater and the floodwaters got in the way. Also, the house appears small in the front and rear view pictures. This is also because of the floodwaters. I didn't know until now that the camera in Sims 3 has the Hydrophobic trait!

I didn't delete the houses next to my entry because the flooded Twinbrook world is extremely buggy and I didn't want to tax it any more than was necessary.

Expansions used: All
Stuff packs used: None

I *DID*, but the code that it has in my Origin page WILL NOT WORK. Is there somewhere else I should be looking? I looked on sims3.com but can't find anywhere that would have my code.

I'm seriously irritated. Still can't find it.

Try redownloading the game from the Origin software. That worked for me.

Spirit of the Dragon - Lamamma entry for Round 4

My entry for Round 4 is an exotic house tailored for a disciplined sim who regularly practice zen and martial arts. Spirit of the Dragon has room for a couple or a single sim.
First floor: kitchen, bathroom, living and dojo.
Second floor: TV room and studio, balcony, bedroom, large bathroom.
Exteriors: bathtub and a nice artist corner, good also for meditation, parking is available but my test sim didn't buy a car.
The style is a mix of traditional and modern, with a limited colors palette. Spectacular vista from the dojo and from the bed.

Except for the KathyPerrySP, I used all EPs and SPs and few items from the store (Japanese set bathtub, Asian fusion wall lamp, Imperial bedroom paintings and free dragon lamp and wall decoration)
No other CCs.

That's what I did, but it didn't work. I was able to get it back by opening a support ticket with EA. Whew.

Now to try to reinstall everything and hopefully have time to get a house done! Everyone's houses have been pretty cool so far. Not sure what I'm going to do with mine.

Actually, with the incredibly slow downloads I have going on, I doubt I'll have time to finish a house this round. Hubby and I are going to be out of town this weekend, so I'd have to get it done today. Sigh... Don't really want to build a house with the base game only.

AdonisPluto 23rd Aug 2012 9:14 PM

For my round four entry, I present LaBianca. This is a two level split classical modern house.

The ground floor has the sitting room with an attached bar area, the kitchen and dining, Study/Library.

The top floor, consists of two bedrooms with en-suite bathroom and a laundry room.

The outdoor of course, have a decorated garden, swimming pool joined with a BBQ area, and a golf practice area. Then there is the car garage as well as an arts room(kind of a green house) where Sims can practice and paint lovely images and arts among nature. There is also at the back garden a dog house and of course the outdoor is a big place for your little pets to play around.

Well I present to you LaBianca

CreativeMommy1985 24th Aug 2012 5:23 PM

Well, I unfortunately have some bad news, I am going to have to drop out of this challenge even though it is the last round. I am pretty sick at the moment and I just found out my friends Grandma died, her wake is today and the funeral is tomorrow. So I will not have any time to play the Sims let alone build anything for the entire weekend. I look forward to seeing how everyone does once this is over and hopefully Q will host another build challenge that I can complete.

Good luck everyone and fantastic lots so far for Round 4.

Fukothepixie 25th Aug 2012 1:51 AM

Q, my lot house got corrupted, so I'm going to have to rebuild it. I expect to make the deadline, but I'm giving you a heads up ahead of time so you're aware of the situation on my end. I will be working my bum off tonight trying to get it done. I believe the deadline is midnight tonight? Or do I have another day? I'm going to aim for midnight anyway so I I can get it done, just in case.

Also,

CM, my condolences.

Flab, I know that Q was starting university/college sometime around now. I suspect that's the reason for the delay in Round 3 scores (which are all in) being posted. If I don't run across Q in the chat in the next couple of days, maybe one of us judges can arrange to post scores?

I have been wanting to do a community lot since round 1 and now I've finally managed to do so. Yay! This is the Cheshire Cat themed Cheshire Club, a dance club/lounge.

Well, I was going to stay anonymous, since I'd already PM'd Q about it and got the okay... Round 3 was down a judge. The only scores "not in" are mine. I was away on vacation with very limited access to sketchy internet, so I asked Q to leave my scoring out of the round so that the scores could get posted in a more timely fashion.

Oh, the irony. All the best to Q and anybody else heading back to school in the next few weeks! (I, for one, am happy to NOT be going to school for the first time in 20 years... )

Fukothepixie 26th Aug 2012 11:35 AM

Finally made the game work, but I'm still working on it. Is it possible to be given an extra half an hour to finish it off and post my pictures? -Fuko

Fukothepixie 26th Aug 2012 12:21 PM

So, I've just posted a link to an album of pictures for this house here:

http://s1070.photobucket.com/albums...ie/Foundation4/

I wanted to get it posted up as quickly as possible. I ended up doing something in blue, which didn't turn out too bad considering the aim was to make it so bad a blue lover wouldn't live in it. It's got one bath, a patio/deck, the kitchen a living space, a reading room/conservatory, and the bedroom, with a number of sitting areas scattered about the house. I think it's called Cool Blues, or if it wasn't before that's what it is now. After the initial failure of my game to load my original schema it's hard to remember. The world is the only cc, and it's Rosewood Hills from MySimsRealty.com.

There are exterior, floorplan, and room shots in the photobucket account. Hope you like it and thanks for the patience with my game going funny on me.

Best, Fuko.

QBUILDERZ 27th Aug 2012 5:00 AM

I'm sorry I didn't get my entry done. I actually ended up in the ER yesterday with a giant kidney stone. I'm in massive amounts of pain right now despite being on heavy painkillers. Not sure how long this will last, but playing games is about the last thing on my mind.

I am an awful person -- no later than TOMORROW night will scores be posted and this round start undergoing judging. I just got slammed with work! The first day, all the professors were like "LOL yay! We are all gonna be so smart TOGETHER!" and today they were like "DO YOUR WORK, NOW OR FAIL! FAIL AND WASTE ALL YOUR MONEY, PUNY BOY. DO THIS WORK OR FAIL!!!" and I am...well...posting on MTS....but I -was- doing work! I swear!

Rishara 1st Sep 2012 4:00 PM

Well, I ended up back in the ER and had to have surgery, so have not had a pleasant week. Sorry I missed the end of the contest. It was nice learning from everyone.

obino 2nd Sep 2012 11:13 AM

I have followed this contest from the beginning and was really trilled by the enthusiasm and zeal that was put into this contest both on the part of the contestants and the judges because it kept the atmosphere really heated up.

I kind of feel this has died down and the atmosphere is just dull now. I checked to see how the contestants have done so far and was just surprised to see that nearly 3 weeks after the third round ended, no scores have been posted for them .

I read the different reasons for this, but at the same time if these guys did not enter for the competition this would not have been successful to this time in the first place. While we all have different things to deal with, we all have one thing in common and that's the 24 hours of time we have in a day. And the key point here is time management. If the contestants did stress themselves to make this contest a success so far, I believe they deserve to know how they have done .

Come on Qbuilderz take the atmosphere back to its tops.

Well said

QBUILDERZ 2nd Sep 2012 4:30 PM

I understand completely, and I have apologized greatly for it already. I cannot make more time in my schedule to accommodate for this contest right now. I have just started college and my work load is taking some getting used to. But, to try and hold you guys over for just a few more days, let me fill you in on what I am dealing with...

- 20 credits, two of which are honors courses
- Three hours of homework (minimum) nightly
- Dealing with numbskulls who want to judge me for enrolling at Penn State
- Trying to make friends
- Coping with my supremely weird room mate
- Trying to make time for:
* This site
* My contest
* The two other sites I frequent

and, as of yesterday

- My speeding ticket (that I can't afford)
- My family demanding I come home to visit (which I neither can nor want to do.)

So, I will apologize one more time for these delays. I have a lot of stuff to do and, quite frankly, I don't think this contest I am running is worth the $15,000 I'm paying in tuition. Please, try to be patient and understand. I am very appreciative that you guys enjoy the contest, and I have been extremely lenient with your entries for the past month; all I ask is you hold on for just a little while longer. I am 18 -- my plate only fits so much.

Thanks for understanding.

Yayyy everyone did amazing! We should all be proud of our work!

QBUILDERZ 4th Sep 2012 5:25 AM

Verdict on a round 5? I can put up a foundation and have it be SUPER. DUPER. HARD. but really fun. I am thinking it can either be:

1) A full round
2) An optional round and a way to win 20 bonus points (just points added to your score, not averaged.)

It would keep you all busy while I finish organizing the past round. Anyone up for it?

ReyaD 4th Sep 2012 5:42 AM

I would LOVE a 5th round. And I'll vote for option 2 to make it easier for our wonderful judges.

Plus I'm not really doing this for the feedback or points, I'm loving the practice and seeing all the beautiful and unique lots people have been creating.

armiel 4th Sep 2012 6:06 AM

Since I'm just doing this for funz, option 2 would be cute idea IMO too.

on a random note,
psst. Flabs, 1 point! *smirks*

:D

porkypine 4th Sep 2012 8:25 AM

No thanks on a 5th round. I've moved on to other things. :0) Have fun!

Beccapixie10 4th Sep 2012 10:43 AM

I'm still away (mobile internet only) until the 8th (AEST) so unless the fifth round ends well after then, I won't be able to participate, which I'll be annoyed about because of the loss of extra points putting me even further behind on the score table. Either way, I think if the host is going to be late on everything it's better to finish this challenge off soon.

I'm down for a 5th foundation! And remember Q, family

lamammaforever 5th Sep 2012 9:03 PM

This should be fun for everyone, Mr Q.
Even if I love this kind of contest, better to stop here at the fourth round and let Q and judges have fun as well as us.

GigaRevival 5th Sep 2012 11:38 PM

Can judges vote? If so, I vote that we have a fifth round (with whatever option the contestants prefer).

Just putting in my two cents.

AdonisPluto 6th Sep 2012 4:56 AM

While I would love for a fifth round, I will beg to differ from it after giving it a thought. Not for me but because of others. While this contest was mainly for fun, the question for a request for a fifth round should be, Will all the contestants have the time to go for a fifth round. Mind you not all have indicated an interest for a fifth round and some have said they can not participate in a fifth. And the reason just might be they will be doing something else that can or may occupy their time and prevent them from going further. So whether for a full round or an optional round, it would be unfair to them if the fifth round should go on as long as a point would be awarded in anyway except if people are willing to do it just for fun and forget about getting any point in any way.

QBUILDERZ 7th Sep 2012 6:50 PM

Okey doke -- I'll post up a fifth foundation, but just have it be for bragging rights Later tonight (I work in a bit) I'll finish making this round's scoring sheet, update the first post with the R3 info, then send our the sheet for the judges to be scored (we are still waiting on one or two extension entries.)

Thanks so much for participating guys!

porkypine 27th Sep 2012 11:59 PM

Poor Q! He's found out that taking 16+ credits and the homework load for college classes is a BIG workload! You can do it Q! :0)

Several of the professors here don't care what amount of homework you have from other classes, they load up their students with TONS of homework every night! .. and you wonder where all the 'as seen on tv' party animals have the time to party like they do. (They only take 3 credits and fail!)

Congrats to the winners (and really, everyone who participated). I never realized just how much creativity there could be in a single competition.

And big thanks to Q and the judges. You guys helped me become a creator and improve on my lot building. You're awesome.

Congratulations everybody! and particularly to AdonisPluto, Perfectionist and Morphead. And to Armiel (I've clicked "love" in your post above, Armiel, it was nice to open the spoiler button! ).
I loved so much this contest I already miss it and the fun, it's been a great occasion for finding inspiration, also looking at ideas and creative solutions by other contestants. And then thanks to Mr Q, finally free to mess in the campus, and all the judges for this event.

Yay! Congratulations to our winners!

And you all should know-- I think each & every one of you are winners!
**ooo! got the sappy out of system for the week now**
It's been a treat to see what you all came up with each round.

Great job and a bravo all around!

And Q... Nittany Notes (if they still exist?).
I used to get paid for taking notes. It helped pay for my ̶b̶o̶o̶k̶s̶ ̶p̶a̶r̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶e̶e̶s̶ beer
Best of luck with school!
