Got to wonder if someone is either downloading or uploading the entirety of the contents of Simfileshare today. I'm getting download speeds of 1-3 kb/second most of the time. At best maybe up in 30-ish kb the first few seconds or so, but then it trickles down, so anything more than 1-2 MB takes ages to download (I've had it say a day or so for a couple of the larger files - gave up on those), and I'm only downloading a couple or so files at a time

Everywhere else I get pretty much instant downloads, so it's not my internet or computer. It did start around Halloween/Simblreen, though... But I guess it's not unusual for SFS to have these issues (recently it's been quite common - and most often when I need that site to actually work...).

Of course, not all fashion from the 2000s came back, there are plenty of trends that stayed in the 2000s. It's also that I got used to high poly and wider hip meshes in modern CC so the 2000s CC look out of place. The 2000s pjs are still adorable except that many 2000s meshes have extremely small waists that, again, look very off compared to the majority of modern CC.

Yeah, I hate the wasp waists on a lot of CC. I spent quite a while 'fixing' it for my own game. Mind you, I also dislike the big butt meshes from more recently. XD

Lol!

Actually, I am simply marveling at the almost superhuman balance of the sim species

(No, I simply forgot to add a fence (again). And I refused to interrupt my own playing session )

Ooooooh, I want to see this now!
As a person who's moved far too much to have a "Here" like that, but always dreamed of it - this looks beautiful!
Thank you for bringing it up.
It looks like a nice old house to sim too...

A while back I shared (maybe on this same thread, I don't remember ) that I had two teens in a relationship, who also happened to be third cousins, because they belong to my 4th generation of in-game born sims, and they don't consider each other family anymore. After reading some opinions, I concluded that I was going to let it happen, simply because it's very hard to keep track of the more extensive family relationships, and if the game allows it... well fine.

Anyway, they're adults now, and they were always very serious about their relationship, so after graduating, they started renting a house Downtown, and they're getting started with their lives with the little money they have. I even forgot they were third cousins at all, until I took a picture of them having breakfast, and noticed that they have the same nose! (Which comes from the same founder). They now have a baby, and I guess the genetics are not going to be much of a surprise when he ages up.

I hated it even 10+ years ago. I also hate big butt meshes. I like this bottom mesh the most. It's slightly curvy compared to the default body mesh, but very proportional to the sims' height and it's meant to be paired with the default top mesh. It's also possible to see in real life, not something unrealistic. I combine this body mesh with the default and momma lisa (and the male version of it) for some diversity among my sims.

My Brandi Broke got married to Gordon King - I think she's a very pretty Sim, but she's also a very vanilla face template 1. Gordon, on the other hand, has got some pronounced facial features. They had a daughter, Riley, which unfortunately looks a lot like her father. I gave her cosmetic surgery and I was about to replace her DNA, but I thought I'd try to get a prettier sibling in CAS and use her as "new" Riley instead...

Can't believe how pretty they all turned out lol

On another subject, as I don't play with townies and my Sims are free spirits, most of the kids born ingame are half sibling or somehow related. Took me a while to manage to couple them up and as I start the rotations sometimes I realize they're related.

Back to another episode of "how much did I screw up today?". Downloaded a loveeeeeeeeeeeeely lesyasun lot, went in to check it out from the neighbourhood view, build mode, turns out there are two sims standing at the bars as if they were models? And I can't click on them, do nothing actually, they're just there? Does that mean the creator uploaded an unclean lot with their own game's sims and I just majorly screwed up my hood with placing this lot without a backup? (well, I have one, but I'd lose a week of building) Ugh, I love thinking about my game, but when it comes to actually playing, so many things keep happening that just discourage me so much....

Which lot? Does it comes with a lot of CC that got downloaded? Did you check it in SimPE? Is lesyasun still active that you could ask them?

Peni Griffin 11th Nov 2024 5:54 AM

Sometimes, NPC-generating objects generated NPCs when opened in build mode. So it's as likely to have been generated by your computer as Leyasun's.

I recommend you mouse over the NPC, note the name, and then quit the lot without saving. Next time you close the game, check for that name in SimPE. If the sim can't be found, it was generated by your game just now and now it functionally never existed. If it's still there, check the SimID No. Since they're numbered sequentially, you should be able to determine when it was generate and whether it piggybacked on the lot, or if it's one of the three bartenders the game tends to generate and you just never noticed them before.

Justpetro 11th Nov 2024 10:31 AM

I had these NPC's generating when I built Paternoster. I tried a number of things but gave up in the end and just left them in.

No NPC's generated when I built Clarens.

I used the exact same mods for both, and the exact same procedures!

iforgot 11th Nov 2024 11:22 AM

We have to be so careful when playing the sims 2 to avoid friends finding out you play it.

I almost got caught yesterday playing it as I forgot my steam status was set to online and my status briefly showed "The Sims 2"

I switched the game to need for speed heat before anyone noticed.

That was a close one!

Are they bartenders? Often they generate with the bars - if it is a community lot. It can't be helped.
When you say, "like models" do you mean they are still like statues? Because if they are bartender-NPCs they should be moving a bit.

Oh! Thank goodness! I've got 8 - that have generated in Sameville - they are barristas, bartenders, a maid, human statues, and a break dancer. I have been pulling my hair out over them! I followed Moo's tutorial completely. The hood has *never* gone in live mode (I test in a separate game - actually on a separate computer!) Aaaaaaah!!!! They are just gonna hafta be there.

"We"???
A) I don't broadcast anywhere what I am doing...
B) Why do you feel the need to hide your favorite hobby?
C) If they are truly "friends" they'd prolly want to play it with you.

Let me address these.

A) It's not so much wanting to broadcast it, as it is streaming the game[1] from desktop my computer to my steam deck so I don't have to sit in the office. Since the stream is added as a game on the deck it shows as now playing if you launch it.
B) I'm a straight male, and my friends can be very, very harsh - but that's what's great about them in a way, no filters or 'correctness'.
C) I don't do online gaming generally, and as far as I know Sims 2 doesn't support that.

[1] Basically, the game launches and runs on the desktop, and the deck remotely plays the game from it.

I solved this by not having any friends (Except for the people here of course)

StrangeTownChick 11th Nov 2024 2:32 PM

Yea, leave the "we" out of it. That's most definitely a "you" issue.

None of my friends care what I play (none of them play Sims at all). I have been asked why not Sims 4 because isn't Sims 2 very old, etc. - I just say I like Sims 2 better, and that's the end of it.

However, they are quite impressed with me having built Paternoster and Clarens. Got a compliment yesterday and a pic from somebody, showing Prince William eating at Wolfgat in Paternoster Some of them gave me advice too when I built the hoods about what should be left out and what should definitely not be left out.

@CatherineTCJD - Yes, Paternoster, bartenders, waiters and cashiers. There are a total of 5 of them and I decided that is not a disaster.

If they're moving in build mode then he does have a problem lol.

It really irks me when people feel the need to hide what games they play. There is nothing embarrassing about playing The Sims! If your friends have a problem with it then they are the problem.

Straight men do have their own filter or correction based on what their group believes is correct, but they are prisoners of their own masculinity and very few come out of it. xD A real man is a lone wolf who doesn't care what others will say about him. I, who am a sissy, feel more of a "man" than most. xd

Yeah, and that mindset needs to be killed with fire. It goes alongside bullshit like 'boys don't cry' and just hurts people.

My apologies, didn't mean to offend you all with my bit of self mockery. I was just having a bit of fun.

You didn't offend me, I understood what you meant and I gave my opinion about groups in general, especially men's groups. xd
