Similar to games you've played: Cities Skylines, Transport Fever 2.

Does not mention TS4, though I've played it for a grand total of 3 hours.

There's now a steam page with lots of new screenshots, minimum and recommended specs, and you can wishlist.

Yeah. Wishlisted and starting work on building a new PC. I know it's not to everyone's taste and we still have to see the monetization model... but for me, this is what I've been wanting for years. A realistic, modern, mature, fully fleshed out take on life simulation. I was hoping Life by You would turn out to be this, but yeah. I'm just so glad it finally exists and it's not a scam!

So so ready for this.

Ramaru 11th Aug 2024 12:26 AM

Something big is on the horizon. YouTube influencers are also teasing they have the game and will be releasing footage within a week. Pixelade, a heavy critic of TS4, says the game is a lot of fun, he is blown away, and it's well optimized. Gamescom is also a week and a half away and inZOI will be there. Guys, I think we're going to be playing this thing in a few months. They're getting all their ducks in a row.

foxmanic 11th Aug 2024 3:05 AM

I'm so excited to see were close to the release for this one Sims has been nothing but endless disappointment to me since the release of Sims 3 and while I play Sims 4 it's not like I love it, I just know fun ways to cause chaos in it to keep myself entertained enough to keep going back since I don't have anything better to play either. Hopefully inZOI will change that, would be fun to feel excited over a game again.

simsample 11th Aug 2024 12:39 PM

I'm looking forward to seeing what the influencers will show us! I'm really hoping this game will continue to impress us, especially after the failure of LifeByYou.

Oof! I wonder what Inzoi looks like at the min spec level because there is a big jump between the minimum and what they are suggesting. They're not catering to owners of computers that we affectionately refer to as potatoes.

We got new info about inZOI (everything we know)

Good, that's where Sims 3 and 4 really suffered- the devs were trying to keep the specs minimal.

kirabook 11th Aug 2024 5:47 PM

I know computers are considered luxury items but getting a non-potato computer or laptop is not that expensive these days. Maybe getting a "NASA computer" as I've seen some people say is, but eh. I built my PC a year or two ago for just under $1000 (technically it was more than 1000 because I accidentally bought the wrong cpu and had to buy a different one and couldn't return the old one) and it perfectly fits the recommended settings. My graphics card is a 3060 instead of a 3070 but that's it (purely because I couldn't afford the 4000 series and decided I'd upgrade my card later when games become too much for a 3060)

I bought laptop I'm on right now in 2019 and it clears the minimum spec requirements at the very least and is still going strong. I even played BG3 on this thing.

I dunno. I just think, if people are going to invest in a computer, ESPECIALLY if they're a gamer and use their computer primarily for gaming, they should spend some extra time saving up for something good that will last them years and years. And to take good care of it. They won't have to fret about games outpacing them for at least half a decade or more. And it's also much cheaper to build your own machine. You don't have to build a chonker, I got a mini-itx case and it's smaller though it's wider, it's not much taller than my laptop so it's not taking up space and easy to move around.

It's really too bad laptops aren't as easily customizable so that people could just swap out parts for newer ones. (there is a brand for this purpose, I forget what it's called though)

inZOI: Character Studio Official Announcement

"It will be available exclusively on Steam for just five days, from August 21st at 4:00 AM to August 26th at 4:00 AM (UTC), with free access to download for everyone."

I'm glad they decided to release a demo Character Creator but it's a bummer it'll be available for only 5 days

VerDeTerre 15th Aug 2024 7:23 PM

Honestly, I'm a little creeped out with how real the characters look. I guess I liked the doll quality of Sims in the past. It's almost movie quality? I would love to hear what people think as they play with the character creator.

pico22 15th Aug 2024 10:49 PM

Uncanny valley.

I first really experienced it with The Witcher 3. I remember how shocked a friend of mine was when he saw the introductory sequence; he really hated it. I did not but now I am wandering if that was as far as I was prepared to go. I guess I will know in a week or so.

But one thing I do know: if you have such characters you must also have a hell of a realistic gameplay to match them. CD Projekt pulled it off successfully but they had one obvious advantage: their game took place in a fantasy world while this one takes place in a world we all know very well, all of its big or tiny traits and idiosyncrasies included. Will they be included in the finished game? We will only know when it will come out.

Ramaru 16th Aug 2024 12:39 AM

It's definitely a style preference. Me, I've dreamt for about 15 years for a game where I could create photorealistic characters who moved and acted like real people. No over the top antics or goofiness that detract from my immersion. Just real people who's drama I can direct and play with to my hearts content. This is a dream come true for me in that aspect. And there is still so much charm and personality that comes through which I really have to applaud them for.

IMO, technology has advanced us past the uncanny valley a while ago. I can't really remember the last game that's been widely claimed to be in the uncanny valley.

I have my doubts about the recommended specs. I don't think they will be enough for the graphics quality used in the youtube vids. Maybe for 1920x1080. But no way above that with an acceptable framerate. I was expecting 32Gb of Ram and also higher GPU ram requirement.

Thanks for this info, as I haven't been following Inzoi that closely.
What would make the difference to me about this game is if it were possible to make regular looking people as characters instead of the fantasy perfect people we keep being shown.
I particularly noticed the Korean athletes in the Olympics this year, and kept wishing I could make their faces instead of glossy dolls

I wonder what we will need to run this demo of the character studio? I think my poor old sims PC might have a morale failure if I try to download this!

kirabook 17th Aug 2024 1:29 AM

I don't know why, but I'm still debating if I will get this or not.

Simsdestroyer 17th Aug 2024 1:32 AM

I LOVE IT!!!!!! When I think of uncanny valley, I think of weird evil dolls or something, not video games. The more realistic the better, and the zoi's are beautiful. I love making sims so I'm going to have blast with this game. Plus I heard they're adding the ability to add and make custom content on launch. The only thing i'm disappointed about is this game isn't going to be a true open world experience, where we can build our own community lots, or bull doze everything and rebuild it from scratch. Having this level of detail and being able to build in it would have been so exciting. But I do understand why they chose not to add that ability. I mean who knows, they may add a blank canvas world for us to go crazy in.

Also good job to Krafton for adding other life stages to the game, and having enough sense to add babies and children, so we can play with families from launch. If we have teens that look like teens, I will be so happy!!!! So excited!!!!

Okay, there is a lot to talk about here, but I won't go through the list. Before I get yelled at, I know this game is still in development.

Why is this food so huge?

I got to play inZOI's new update and it's STUNNING

Hate to be nitpicking guy, but I think the term you’re looking for is called “sandbox”. There are games that have open world but aren’t about building houses (which there hardly are, asides minecraft), so the implication that they aren’t “true open world experience” may downplay that other games don’t count as open words, when presented with many “enough” explorative places they do HAVE and are true open worlds (minus the tools to manipulate physical structures/props or plop down a new house). Open world doesn’t equate to city building (TS2 and City Skyliness (which is mostly managing a map from birds view than travelling with a character in 1st person mode game) dont have a open world but you could freely build and terraform).

I do know you didn’t mean it, and you clarified but I just thought I think I clarify of misleading wording that doesn’t match the phrasing. Just that there are games that have a grant roaming land that even TS3 didn’t have.

GTA5 perhaps? Don’t know why players are shocked are shock or creep out as if other games had it too. But it is indeed fascinating that they are now finally pulling it off with a life simulatoe. We all know the game is not gonna be 100% absolute recreation of life simulator, so arguments as to why we should stick to pixar or wii looking graphics are quite stupid. The technologies are advancing, and so should visuals as well keep up being improved and be incorperated (or we may have video games in 3000 be looking like their from 2002). Its the sensie step to go from sprite people to AI looking digital models.

I know that the first thing I'll be doing with the character editor on the 21st day is to try making few of my Sims 2 Sims in inZOI just to see how they'll transfer over. :D

pico22 18th Aug 2024 3:51 PM

There are many inZoi videos on YouTube by now and I watched some of them. One observation: nearly every influencer (as I suppose they would like to be called) starts by making a Zoi of him/herself. Most of them are quite good but all of them seem a bit younger and better looking than the originals. Which tells us something about the tool but much more about human nature.

But so far so good. The problems begin when Zois are put in their world and they start to move. Mostly, they march around like those little wooden soldiers. Sometimes they do a jumping Jack. Sometimes they eat, leaving the food untouched but stabbing the tray. Sometimes they go to bed, becoming totally flat in the process. Sometimes I wondered in which Korea this game was made.

All of this (and more) is much worse than in TS2/TS3. I guess the developers are only trying to compete with TS4, as (among other stuff) confirmed by endless tedious chores and one loading screen after another; the world seems open but it is not. (At least EA made that clear; they must be pulling their hair out now.) - And I know that the game is far from finished; far from finished indeed.

Well, you have your real people. As for real drama, dream on.

cottagecheesefairy 18th Aug 2024 4:30 PM

The meta around the player being a corporate employee managing these little lives is very charming. I love the map view being a tablet on someone's desk, very cute!

Casimir 18th Aug 2024 8:38 PM

Please note that my opinion might change because not much has been shown about this game so far. I think that inZOI is not immersive enough of a game. It looks beautiful (minus the set dressing), but the gameplay is what troubles me. The game seems to have a lot of objects with special activites, but what we need are complex systems such as a reputation system, a memory system, an ownable business system, an attraction system etc. The game also needs scenarios such as a party scenario. Also, some of the animations were kind of wonky and misused. For example, the woman ate the hamburger with a fork. And then, there was no consequences for eating meat when the inZOI in question was a vegeterian.

I know that not much was shown about inZOI, but what was shown kind of worries me. Maybe the youtubers have just shown the basics?
