I love that zoi! He looks exactly like a guy I used to work with.

Imitation InZoi results

I'm planning to put the other renders on my blog and DeviantArt, but this much I can share here.

Since my tower refuses to run InZoi, I was able to use game screenshots to style-train Krea AI to re-create the Twirlflame Trio from Swappernetters in the game's art style.

Note: The final game may or may not make it easy for you to re-create these characters as accurately as these mockups presented below suggest.

Tabitha Pang

Of course, Tabitha was the easiest to replicate in the game's art style, given her (half)-Korean heritage. Her hair was simple. Her clothes...would probably be a piece of cake for the actual game. The AI struggled to duplicate this exact color combination. But if Sims 4 can do it, so can InZoi.

Sarah Ruben

This one would probably also be a piece of cake to remake in the game. The AI struggled a bit more with her though, because it couldn't decide which shade of purple her jacket was supposed to be.

Tobias Reno

If the game has dreadlocked hairstyles galore, Tobias should be pretty easy to make. Krea struggled to get his hair right, so I had to Photoshop that part.

The default American and Korean cities in the game would also make for great machinomics / machinima for anyone wanting to write a Swappernetters fic. The American city especially, if you know how to make your shots look like Little Rock.

If these Frontliners were this easy, custom Frontliners would be no problem. If there's some type of courier / ninja job that Zois can have, that'd make their Frontliner gameplay a lot deeper than just dress-up too! It was somewhat possible with odd jobs to fudge being a Frontliner in Sims 3, though Sims 4 put the kabash on a lot of that, by killing a lot of those job types and getting rid of the open world.

(For reference, Frontliners in Swappernetter underground society in The Gerosha Chronicles are very similar to the Runners in Dying Light and Mirror's Edge.)

As a bonus, here's Tabitha's boyfriend:

Jordan Sterlie

These are just the "easy" mockups. The really challenging ones, as I've said, I'll probably put on DeviantArt somewhere. (e.g., Ciem of Seattle, where Tanya Woven's attempt at being Ciem easily makes her the Miles Morales to Candi Flippo's Peter Parker, would definitely count as more advanced, because there's currently no way to make those suits perfect without Photoshop!)

I ended up making another of my Sims 2 Sims into a ZOI and actually really like how he turned out. Still not a huge fan of the expressions but eh, it is what it is.

Simsdestroyer 24th Aug 2024 4:55 PM

Omigod I just watched the Youtube video Simsample posted and Inzoi looks exactly like how I wish the Sims 3 was. The interactions are so realistic, and the best part is the Youtuber who's playing the game isn't staging the interactions, she's getting these choices organically. It looks really fun and realistic. I can't wait to see what shennanigans I can get into with this game. Well done Krafton!!! And the best part is, it's not even done yet... so they'll be adding more interactions and animations to it.

I know. Instead they have have so many loving things you can choose to say to each other like "hold hands & talk" "tell them they bring joy" "tell them they look like an angel" or even "express gratitude for boundless love" ?
So much better than how they just sit and don't talk to each other in Dine Out? Where if you make them talk they then forget to eat when the food arrives....

Either way, this game looks a lot better to me than Sims 4...... build mode is getting me very excited, you can even photograph your real life objects and use them in game, scan your own textures or put your own images up as artworks!
And.... it looks like you won't have to wait five or six years for a tropical island world.

Heck, I'd license the Anarteq IP I'm working on to Krafton, just so they can make a Nunavut-themed or Greenland-themed world. Throw a bunch of mythical monsters in it too, and see Zois go on expeditions to the wild to see if they can spot some paranormal being.

Not sure they'd be willing to adapt weresalmon, or any occults for that matter, as playable Zois. But even if you don't get to be one of these beings, to have NPC legendary beings roaming about in the world maps so that your Zois can merely say they live in the same world as these beings, would be pretty cool in and of itself.

It'd be funny if they make a Tokyo map, and put onryo in it as one of the occult NPCs a Zoi might encounter. InZoi meets The Ring? I'm okay with that. And since they're an Asian company, I wouldn't mind seeing more oriental monsters feature. For China, they could have a huli jing terrorizing one neighborhood, and a bixie running loose in another. There's some freaky things in Indonesian mythology too that could be adapted, though I'm not sure how to keep them at a T rating.

I just mean they look like androids sitting there eating their meals, like they won't acknowledge each others existence unless they are directly interacting. At least in The Sims 4 if a sim is sitting eating and another sim enters the room, they will acknowledge each other and say hello and even have a conversation. The same with almost every other solo activity in the game.

I'm not defending the Sims 4 and just attacking Inzoi for nothing. I just notice they look a bit lifeless in Inzoi. I can make a lot of complaints about The Sims 4.. closed worlds, load screens, bad DLC.. But lifeless sims is not one of them.

pico22 25th Aug 2024 5:03 PM

I watched the whole video - well, to be honest, I fast-forwarded through it and stopped only at parts that seemed interesting. Driving was one of them: it seems hilarious and I love the fact that you can leave the car in the middle of a street and the game will park it for you. (LBY "Sims" could not park either but at least the game left their cars/bicycles where they were.) - By now I saw a few rollercoaster first-person rides: different videos but the people in front of you were always the same. - I hope that it never rains in the game (but I hope in vain) because there are no ceilings. - The woman starts giving birth in her house, is miraculously transferred to a hospital and then back to the house with a baby that seems almost as big as she is; then she acts like an idiot to bond with it (but so would I; just imagine how big that child is going to be when it grows up - it sure makes sense to get to its good side as soon as possible).

And so on. It is rather distressing watching the game without a commentator gushing over the smallest detail (but kudos to the poster who dared to make such a video). Actually, the best scenes were the night ones with no Zois around: the game has super duper graphics indeed but the gameplay is not half way there yet.

They have a lot to do to make this interesting for story players- we need more interactions between zois! I would urge you all to go onto their discord to give this feedback.

pico22 25th Aug 2024 8:09 PM

Link to a video about ten Korean games (InZOI and nine others), coming out this and next year. The point? Superb graphics are a must and a standard, overruling everything else.

I noticed something similar in K-pop. Old groups were looking like real people and had a lot of great songs. New groups are looking divinely beautiful and have a lot of forgettable songs.

The facial capture is fun:

Not sure if we are going to need a new phone as well as a new computer to use that! And, what are the gameplay applications? Looks like it's only a thing to play with in the character creator.

simsample 27th Aug 2024 7:41 PM

For me, this game is going to have to go a long way if it wants to hold my attention like the sims games have.

Buzzbugs 29th Aug 2024 3:28 AM

It's an over glorified avatar game with high fidelity graphics and zero character.

Krafton answered a bunch of questions from the community but they specifically didn't give any answers about Genetics or deeper personalities and interactions being worked on. I think what we've already seen is what we're getting - Zoi's that are more lifeless and doll-like than the sims in The Sims 4!

It seems like any time this genre takes one step forward it also takes 2 steps back. I welcome the open neighborhoods, but they went too far with the realism in my opinion. There's no life here nor charm. It's just an uncanny mess where Zoi's behave like animatronic dolls trying to mimic human behaviors, and it just falls flat.

The Sims 2 and 3 were the best.

CervidaeSims 29th Aug 2024 11:39 PM

dev'd by krafton...soooo it'll be a live service, microtransaction hellscape. it's only "gatcha" is the graphics which are, well, really the only thing it has going for it.

some sims players think realistic = better. no thank you.

not to mention the devs [allegedly] using ai voices for the characters.

Yes, from all I'm seeing it's a childish and superficial game with no challenge or deep interactional play. Even the age rating in Korea is lower than for TS4. The traits aren't really traits. At the moment, it's all quite boring.
I'm getting a bit TS4 release flashbacks here. It's pretty but shallow.

The one thing that really alarmed me in the video linked in the post above was mentioned towards the end, just in passing: the game will be released in early access. So, it will be (officially) unfinished and probably not much better than what youtubers are playing ATM, a glorified demo with only one real function, to find out how well the game is going to sell. And if the sales will be disappointing there is absolutely no guarantee that the game won't be abandoned.

But on the bright side, we already have what seems to be the best part of InZOI, and we got it for free. Maybe not the best idea, commercially, but I am not complaining.

I'm glad somebody else made this observation. There are things they are doing differently, but there is definitely some TS4-like stuff going on.

A player can meet somebody, get married and have a baby in less than a half hour in real time.

The endless loading screens.

The cut scenes are not much better. A player uses the roller coaster once and they never need to see it again because it will be the same cut scene over and over again. The cut scenes in TS2 are done well and contribute to game play. The cut scenes in this game look like cheap, filler content. Even weddings are a cut scene. This is coming from a person that has never had a 'official' wedding in game. My sims get married in the middle of night in their pjs most of the time.

The whole filter thing were people can make their game look more cartoony is also a fail. The filters are poorly done. I've seen and played with some terrible Reshade / Gshade presets that can do much better.

Traits and personalities: There are none. Krafton likes to write paragraphs about each trait, but all Inzoi act alike.

The lore. What lore? Calling Inzoi is God game doesn't mean much.

The jobs are terrible. Work as a cashier that is not allowed to pass the time by chit-chatting with co-workers.

To keep from being a total Negative Nancy, I do like the lighting and the 'atmosphere' of Inzoi, but those are not reasons to buy this game. It would be fun for screenshot purposes as I like to do that, but yeah, no. If I was going to do that, there are better games for that specific purpose. The only reason I haven't done it is because Rock Star insists that people get into the lore and story of characters that I don't care about.

I'm not sold on the fact that I can't even work with the creator program. Too many negative reviews on Steam and the fact that it requires a number of login credentials.

I'm going to stick with The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 for now. I rather do my own thing in those games. I have been working on some great things involving toothpaste, groceries and animation. But for now, I am worn out from the last week of unofficial US summer. Let's face the fact the US starts\resumes working after Labor Day weekend. I rather spend it playing games I didn't have time for.

Gargoyle Cat 30th Aug 2024 11:52 AM

Krafton has zero understanding of how and what makes the life simulator niche tick which is interesting only because they are heavily marketing this game to sims players. Along with having much in common with TS4, it also has things in common with Second Life. Not a comparison I make lightly as Second Life gives me the icks.

I called this lack of understanding months ago and was promptly bitched at for it because of course I was. They are trying get this game out as fast as they can so they can get their piece of the pie. Yes, EA is in dire need of competition, but putting out a bad game does not equal life-long competition.

As the game stands right now, people will buy it and will be bored in less than a month. It will be even a shorter time than that for those that spend 10-plus hours a day sitting around playing video games.

IMO, if they are going to call this a life simulator and market to people that play life simulators, they should have at least taken the time to get to know the community they are trying to sell to.

I'm pretty sure they'll be listening to the feedback, as all of the playtesters I've watched have been noticing the lack of depth. In this video, for example, it shows how a relationship breaks down but the zois don't seem to react at all to each other unless directed (and are happy to share a meal together after arguing). Also how the messaging is unilateral and automatic. Baby interactions are a bit minimal too. But they have time to work on all this, and seem to be making progress (I've noticed differences from the early release).
