{::} All About Creating...Stuff {::}

Hi all. If you're new, welcome to Goth Simmers. Anyways, I figured that our thread was getting big enough now to have a separate little one where we can post stuff specifically about creating sims 2 content.

Weather it be asking for advice, not knowing how to create things and want to learn, posting pictures of upcoming creations, discussing ideas and getting feedback, if you cant create and want to suggest something to me or another creator in our group, sending me death threats about uploading all that crap I promised to upload ages ago and just never did, scared of the creator guidelines and need help understanding them, etc.

Use your imagination, really ANYTHING about creating alternative/gothic/punk/emo just post it here. I don't intend for this thread to be used that much but if you need advice fast on creating and can't be screwed surfing though our larger, main thread here, then this is the place for you. Okies?

Thanks for making this thread!! I was thinking about making another one but I didn't have any idea...

star_gusser 11th Feb 2009 6:38 AM

Thats ok. This way we have place for the newbies to ask questions and not be scared!

I think I will upload some pics of some stuff I've been working on. I've been really into making goth clothes lately. It kinda brings me back to my high school goth days.

star_gusser 11th Feb 2009 8:38 AM

Please do. I'm really interested in seeing what other people in this group have been making.

If you want to see my gothic eyes... I posted them into the creator feedback, but I suppose that any moderator liked them (I don't know well how works the upload restriction)

Corsetcrush 15th Feb 2009 12:49 AM

I haven't been working on any Goth stuff at the moment... more like Super Mario and bubblegum pink stuff (a request)... but I have been working on a black recolor of a stove I've made.

The stove is definitely not done yet. I finally got it working, but the copper texture on the pots is being a total beast. Well I guess I am working on something Goth but it's a secret at the moment, but not necessarily Gothic...

Serena_Moonstone 15th Feb 2009 1:21 AM

I just uploaded a corset gothy outfit in six colors

https://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/...hAllCasual2.jpg

I was just fooling around making some lingerie and I kinda made this. My bf liked it alot so I decided to upload it. The blue one was originally for waitress uniforms for my goth club in my game. I have been thinking about making something special to celebrate when soon I shall have my first 50,000 downloads of my work.

P.S. I really ike the stove and especially the mario stuff I hope to download them both soon. My boyfriend is really excited about the mario stuff being he is a huge super mario bros. lover.

Corsetcrush 15th Feb 2009 2:00 AM

lol, the shrub is part of a whole set of 36 pieces. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v329/Wiffel/SimNation%20Modding%20Collective/HedgeSet.jpg[/IMG]](Look at it HERE) My inner geek came out today and decided to see if I could make it work. It's part of an even bigger thing that I'm working on with some other people in the SimNation group. Now if I would quit breaking the shrubs...

I made a Mario sim quite some time ago that I've considered uploading.

Serena_Moonstone 15th Feb 2009 6:32 AM

For some reason your pic is not working for me, It gave me a cannot display page message.

I've been trying not to post pig pics in the threads because I'm not sure if everyone appreciates it since everyone else has their pics as attachments...

I finally quit breaking the shrubs, but the Super Mario shrub texture doesn't work so well with the seamless shrubs. Because they aren't so...seamless.

star_gusser 15th Feb 2009 12:52 PM

Corsetcrush I love the hedges. I remember Mario...has anyone ever told you that your creations are pretty much awesomeness in its raw form? And I for one love having big pictures in the threads. I get sick of always clicking on the little attachments. I can't wait for that stove, it's coming along very nicely. Haha, also, what is this big secret?!

Serena I really like the new outfits. I like having a choice of colors too, saves me from recoloring them myself. The photo skinning worked well. Also....Yay for smut!

Corsetcrush 15th Feb 2009 2:34 PM

If you are very, very clever and tricky, you might be able to take a guess at my secret from the second pic.

and as for the couch and chair being listed in the hedge set, um I thought it would be funny if the Sims could sit and jump on the hedges...

The stove is on hold for a while at the moment because of the stupid pots. I have put a LOT of time into it and it's one freaking complicated object (including meshed rivets on the pots and tea kettle). The stupid people who made the sims cook in the middle of ALL the stoves makes them put the pot on the burner knobs. That drives me batty but I had to make it look right. I would do something easier but the original stove has so much freaking copper... and of course it's bright copper, not the aged kind. Google image search hasn't been much help with the texture either, I even tried to use some royal guy's copper bathtub to no avail.

And since it seems appropriate here is another set I need to be working on: (I have WAY too many projects!)

This is the first time in my life that I have ever meshed an animal from scratch. It took me the same amount of time to do the cat as it did both Makin' Magic beds. And it still needs to be mapped. And the next one is a dog. At least now I know that I really don't enjoy meshing animals, I don't think I do it as well as other things like normal furniture. Pets don't come in boxy shapes. Hmm, unless it's a pet rock... in a box...

Serena_Moonstone 16th Feb 2009 6:49 AM

Yeah for some reason I've been really into making sexy clothes lately, especially goth. I have also been making stripper clothes that I plan to release on SXS2, I have a goth strip club in my game called Club Midnight and have been making much needed clothing for it. The outfits I just released were actually originally uniforms for the waitresses.

simgirl24 16th Feb 2009 9:24 PM

Man, I haven't been working on anything for a very long time... O.o I guess I have to do this now. xD Maybe some eyeshadow will turn out...

ZombieJill 19th Feb 2009 6:23 AM

^^ I like it, Serena, I'm just not a fan of the mesh. I think it'd look good with some heavier boots, like on Club Crimsyn.

I need to make something to get myself back ino the creating kick. I lost my hard drive AGAIN (second time in the past three months. UGH.) and it really put me off creating for some reason. Any ideas for what I should work on? I'm also thinking of, if I can reignite the creating fire, opening my own site. Ugh.

star_gusser 19th Feb 2009 7:12 AM

Serena I agree with zj. Check out club crimsyn meshes and also I'd add a collar to the plaid shirt. but aside from that it's sexy. I wouldn't mind seeing it in shorty shorts either.

And zj maybe you should branch out and put your skills into making clothing again or something, you know, to keep it interesting. We all go through those phases where we really cbf with sim making.

...I really don't understand how you could be screwed putting up your own site though...that's aaa lllooottt of work...well if you do decide to do it and ever needed help or another creator or just someone to bitch to about it drop me a message. Okies?

And at least it's just a hard drive. I've lost all my sims stuff (including my downloads folder with over four years of crap in it) when my computer has crashed on me....twice. Because I was A) stupid enough to not back my stuff up the first time because I thought "Hey, that's the sort of thing you hear about and would never happen to me." and then I was B) stupid enough after I just got it all back to say "Hey, what are the odds of it happening twice?"...........

So, yeah, the moral here kids is to backup your files on to backup disks then backup those files onto backup-backup disks. JUST TO BE SAFE.

x a m y x

ZombieJill 19th Feb 2009 8:39 AM

:3 Yeah, well, I do websites as a side-job, so it's not making/managing the sites that's daunting, and I already have the space. XD I think if I had a site, I'd feel the need to update regularly, which would mean I would create more.

I should try skinning some clothes... I was doing object meshing before my computer died, so. And I did loose everything... D': Both my 1TB drives are down the drain, and I need to get new ones. I have bloody clue how I killed them so badly.

And I do agree. BACKUP. Backup. Backup. I have some of my downloads saved, but, naturally, not all of my newest creations. D': Ugh.

star_gusser 19th Feb 2009 8:55 AM

Well that changes everything if you already have the site. Yeah I think that would be a good idea. You should do it!

God, I pretty much fail at meshing. I don't know how people do it. I'll just stick to skinning thankyou. That sucks that you lost everything though. When I lost my stuff the second time it was all the things that people had requested from me...and I just never made it again. I probably pissed a lot of people off....hmmm....

Serena_Moonstone 19th Feb 2009 3:20 PM

outfit

there actually is a collar, but you can barly see it. I've never done a shirt b4, do you have any trips on how to make a better collar? I also would like to know how to make the sleeve look rolled up. I looked for a mesh with rolled sleeves but I couldn't find one. I am also thinking of using a diff mesh anyway, I am not so sure I like the liana mesh, the boots kinda look stupid, like theheel is too far from the foot.

ZombieJill 19th Feb 2009 5:27 PM

Haha, it was suckily hard at first, meshing. Then a stopped and just mauled other people's meshes for a while, which made it start to make sense. I did a whole bunch of object recolours, too. Like... an ungodly huge ammount. XD It was intense.

Herm, I was going to link you to some of my fav. Club Crimsyn meshes, but I can't seem to get onto their site at the moment. D': Durn.

Serena_Moonstone 19th Feb 2009 9:19 PM

I still think that it is missing something though....can't quite put my finger on it

Vampire_aninyosaloh 19th Feb 2009 11:13 PM

Clubcrimsyn works for me...

star_gusser 20th Feb 2009 12:13 AM

I like that mesh better, I do think this outfit needs the chunkier boots to work. Nina's right, Club Crimsyn seems to be working again. Here's what I would recommend; I personally think you should use the first mesh on the female page (used on the first three outfits on the top row known as "Mesh AFFB_Nekkid_Boots" and see here. )

OR, you could do something different, and make the one pair of jeans and boots and do a whole lot of tops (like bikini, sheer corset, actual corset, tank top, etc) to go with it. so people can mix and match. (See here and here .) But that's just me. What does everyone else think?

zj - yeah, I even tried leeching to other peoples meshes and learning that way by studying them but I still just couldn't get it. It was easier to give up than keep trying in vain and end up punching a wall.... I did some recolors of objects, but I think my simming heart lies with clothes.

x a m y x

star_gusser 20th Feb 2009 12:18 AM

Oh and with the shirt texture (the collar and sleeves), what I do when I need to learn something new like that is export other people's work who have done it well and really take note of where the lines are in the texture file. I would recommend exporting some male clothing that has shirt sleeves and collars (I've found that mens clothing is easier to use for inspiration as it usually doesn't have as much shadowing and detail around the torso - because women have boobs) and look at how that's done, then try and replicate it in your own work.

x a m y x

Serena_Moonstone 21st Feb 2009 12:42 AM

I'll try that and see how it turns out though, I don't think I'll even end up doing the shirt anyway. I will look at a few of the meshes from club crysm and see what I can do with them, I might relase both in the same set. I have been thinking of doing a huge set release for when I get to 100,000 downloads

Corsetcrush 21st Feb 2009 3:07 PM

Serena- I actually really like the second mesh you found, they remind me of boots I thought were cool in the 80s but definitely not old enough to wear. I'm glad that everyone has been giving such helpful comments. Learning new tricks with recolors is an ever evolving process (otherwise why do it?) that most of all should be fun. At the end of the day you should be doing the things that YOU want to do, never mind if it is a request or not.

star_gusser 22nd Feb 2009 9:32 AM

My thoughts exactly corsetcrush. Its why I stopped taking requests, I couldn't keep up with them and making sims 2 content became more of an obligation than just doing it for fun.

x a m y x

ZombieJill 22nd Feb 2009 10:01 AM

XD That's why I don't take requests either! Ideas, yes. Requests, no.
I never, ever fullfill them, and then I just feel like a jerk.

star_gusser 22nd Feb 2009 11:25 AM

I take suggestions now, and if it interests me I do it. By the way guys, I'm making more clothing sets for the boys. This time it's jeans with a business-shirt-thing with rolled up sleeves.

One of my mates was wearing that outfit the other day and I thought "hmm...nice". :lovestruc Not that I should be thinking that way about my friends but eh, to hell with it. He is hot. So I'm making some clothes in honor of that outfit because I like it so much.

x a m y x

Vampire_aninyosaloh 22nd Feb 2009 12:01 PM

That's cool!!

star_gusser 22nd Feb 2009 12:53 PM

Thanks Nina. I've been meaning to ask too, has that uploading ban been lifted yet?

x a m y x

Serena_Moonstone 22nd Feb 2009 4:48 PM

Requests....funny

Yeah I understand now why people who have been creating longer no longer take requests, after my first upload I got totally swamped with requests. I am caught up now, and haven't had any more requests thankfully, I might change it to my profile to suggestions only too.

No, it haven't, so... I've created my own gothic web: http://www.geocities.com/aninyosaloh/
I've said it in the other threads (I'm a bit annoying with this, but I'm really happy )

Serena_Moonstone 22nd Feb 2009 10:43 PM

website

Have you considered using Freewebs instead of geocities? Freewebs doesn't have the annoying side adverts, just a small line at the bottom, I have a freewebs website now And I like it much better than my old geocities account. I also had and html question, I was thinking of putting downloads on my website, what is the code to do that I have no idea how to put downloads on a website.

It's really easy... you only have to write this: <a href="FILE.zip"><img border="0" src="BUTTON.jpg" width="xxx"
FILE Is the name of the file you want people to download it.
BUTTON Is the name of the image you want to use like button to download your file.
Of course, you have to upload the files and the images to the web...
I hope this will help you, but if it doesn't you can ask me what you want...

Serena_Moonstone 23rd Feb 2009 8:37 PM

downloads

Thanks you that does help I had no idea. I suppose I need a file hosting service, do you have any suggestions on who to use? I don't think I'm allowed to link it from MTS2. I don't think the code you posed below is complete, it doesn't have the end sign, or hight siginfier, maybe I'm wrong, but could you double check for me.

Idk, I haven't really explored freewebs too much

You may want to make the velvet texture seem more 'velvety', photo skin a texture from some close up shots of velvet perhaps. Tell you what, I'll put up some pictures tonight with steps of how I add shading to breasts etc. Do you use adobe photoshop or gimp?

x a m y x

Serena_Moonstone 25th Feb 2009 8:39 PM

Software

I use adobe photoshop, but I have Corel Photoshop X now and that kinda works the same but the rendering is better, and the cursor moves more accuratly. I really would apriciate the help I tried to shade breasts last night and it turned out rather terrible.

Serena_Moonstone 3rd Mar 2009 3:42 PM

There is something else I am working on that I need help with, this is probably the most ambitious project I have worked on. I have only been creating for about 4 months so I have no idea how to do the really complicated stuff.

I have no idea how to convert male hair to female hair, and I didn't find a tutorial. If I missed it pls tell me where it is.

The reason I ask this is I want to convert Nova L's wolf hair (for personal use, or to upload if Nova gives me permission to) to female so I can have awesome female lycans. I have already done the skin for all sexes and ages. I probably won't be able to the hair in toddler-teen, because that would require dooing mesh editing to shrink the hair down. I have found a tutorial about age converting and I suppose it would be similar, if possible.

http://www.modthesims2.com/download.php?t=246550

I hope you can do it only with SimPE because I have no 3d editing software, and no experience with it. Adult male to Adult female should be ok in sizes, it may look funky, but I haven't tried yet.

Serena_Moonstone 3rd Mar 2009 9:30 PM

I have found a tutorial on converting clothes to diff age groups. I am going to try and convert to female, it may look a bit funny but we'll see. I have been told I should edit the mesh because males heads are slightly diff, but being that both sims have messed up extra large faces to begin with it might not be too bad. I'll post pics as soon as I am done.

Vampire_aninyosaloh 3rd Mar 2009 10:13 PM

Hey Amy!! Your thread is getting big too...

Serena_Moonstone 5th Mar 2009 3:29 PM

Maybe we should start different threads, like different categories for creating

Serena_Moonstone 5th Mar 2009 3:30 PM

The wolf hair thingy didn't work out. It requires mesh editing. I am going to have to ask the original creator to do it, or ask permission for someone else to do it. SynapticSim was one of the ones who helped make the lycan body mesh, maybe they will help.

Hi guys!! I've got my vampire eyes in the feedback... do you like them???

Vampire_aninyosaloh 22nd Mar 2009 9:15 PM

Serena... what happened with your corset dress, have you uploaded it??

Serena_Moonstone 4th Apr 2009 5:11 AM

I took a break from it cause I was getting nowhere. I finnaly had a breakthrough on it yesterday, the corset top now has a shaded leathery/satiny look. I still need toi perfect the skirt, but I'll upload pics of it sometime this week

Fearnie84 6th Apr 2009 4:28 AM

Hi Guys, I've made a new sim which I'm thinking of uploading, her name is Loki.
Would like some feedback if possible, possible changes, views etc..
Hope you all like her

Vampire_aninyosaloh 6th Apr 2009 1:01 PM

OMG! I really love her! She's really really REALLY unique!!!!! How many cc is yours?? I love her scars!!!!

Fearnie84 6th Apr 2009 1:33 PM

The Scar unfortunately is not by me, it's by BloodPledge. But the eyeliner, eyebrows, eyes,
eyeshadow, lips, and
corset are by me

P.S - I love your vampire eyes Nina xx

Vampire_aninyosaloh 6th Apr 2009 1:57 PM

Fearnie84 6th Apr 2009 4:16 PM

Thanks hun

Fearnie84 7th Apr 2009 2:06 PM

I uploaded my sim yesterday, but sadly she was rejected
I was gonna work on the corset more etc.. like they asked, but they said that she's morphed, weird bizarre, badly done etc.. so a bit baffled now lol

Vampire_aninyosaloh 7th Apr 2009 2:36 PM

Why???? I really like her...
Maybe you should post her in the creator feedback...

Vampire_aninyosaloh 8th Apr 2009 12:40 AM

Uh!! I really really love it!!!! It's much better!!!

Serena_Moonstone 8th Apr 2009 9:52 PM

I think I might not do the red one, the texture isn't as well done, it kinda looks pixelated....I will probably just do the black and the white one. I think the silver one will get released in a second set with pastel corsets. I am working on a name for the dresses. I think the gothy ones will be called Gothique: Three Gothic Corset Gowns or something liek that. The pastel set will be called Inner Goddess

Vampire_aninyosaloh 8th Apr 2009 10:00 PM

I like these names...

Serena_Moonstone 12th Apr 2009 5:24 AM

the dresses have been approved, and are ready to upload for anyone who wants them.

Vampire_aninyosaloh 12th Apr 2009 1:16 PM

Cool!

Vampire_aninyosaloh 18th Apr 2009 1:14 PM

WOW!!!! I really love them! GOOD JOB!!

Serena_Moonstone 18th Apr 2009 5:34 PM

I love this heel mesh from Chriko, but I wish it could come in an alpha skirt. It's alpha pants, I do like chriko's other alpha skirt with heeels mesh, but the heels on this are better, If I could mesh I would put these heels on the other mesh.

Serena_Moonstone 18th Apr 2009 5:40 PM

Should I do a version without jewelry? so ppl can us tier faves?, or keep it the way it is. I am going to put a thin grey line on the edges of the belt so it's more visible.

Vampire_of_Death 20th Apr 2009 12:28 AM

Hi guys, I am working on a small set of outfits for my Harley Quinn sim. These are all my design, I tried to make her outfit fit into the Dark Knight more than the cartoon version. Please let me know of any mistakes made.

Also, I made the eyes, do you think that they are alright for her or are they to supernatural looking?

Thank You!

Serena, I LOVE IT! U think you could do a version with fishnets and one without, but I REALLY love it, are you planning n doing other colors, too?

Here is also a mesh, if you are still looking...

mesh

Yeah, I already have that mesh, I don't like the heels on it as much, but thanks though. Actually Cynnix at GoS has made the mesh for me, she's finishing it up and I'm waiting for her to post it. She's done the regular skirt version, and she's also working on a floor legnth alpha skirt one and possibly one with a slight train.

I think I'm going to make a version of Silent Lucidity as untuckable tops, I still might do a fishnet version too, but I don't like to repeat my projects too much. Oh also If you guys were wondering why I keep deleting my old posts, it's to save space in here by taking off my old stuff.

Vampire_aninyosaloh 8th May 2009 8:56 PM

O.O I love it!!

Vampire_of_Death 8th May 2009 9:21 PM

I love it, to, you are so creative. I also tink something is missing, what if you would add gloves? Maybe about halfway up the arm, a bit above the elbow. You could do them in solid and lace.

Vampire_of_Death 9th May 2009 8:10 AM

The Funny thing is, I pictured them as fingerless also. Are you working with photoshop?

Deviant Art has some really great lace brushes for free, here is a link, you just have to click on your program on the left. If you use photoshop, let me know and I will send you the links to some really awesome lace brushes.

Thanks for the link, yes I am using photoshop, and corel photoshop x aswell. I think the brushes will help. I promise to finish this as soon as I can, but I'm going to drop all my projects for about a week to do something grungy post apocolyptic for MTS2 b-day. I think I might make a lot, or a grungy ripped clothing set for all ages and sexes, but Idk if I can finish all that in a week

You know sometimes I have to switch between projects when I'm stuck, it feels like creative schitzo block.

Umm..okay, I haven't found these anywhere so I was thinking about making bandages for male sims, like around the torso of a male sim and maybe some around the biceps and forearms, accessories and the torso one as a shirt. However, Im kinda new, aside from experimenting with recolors, how would I go about making something like this? or how do I go about requesting this from somebody who knows what they are doing?

Serena_Moonstone 10th May 2009 3:52 AM

I think that's a great idea. I've never tried bandages b4 so I really can't give any advice on it. If you think it is beyond your abilities you can always request it at Garden Of Shadows Wishing Tree.

Vampire_aninyosaloh 10th May 2009 1:13 PM

Does that exist???!! I've never seen it!!

Serena_Moonstone 11th May 2009 4:45 AM

yep it sure does...Grrr, for some reason Bodyshop will not load.........I scanned and I have no viruses....I hope my sims 2 game didn't asplode again. I'm going to head off to EA to see if a patch can help me.

Serena_Moonstone 11th May 2009 7:02 AM

OMG!!!!! My game did asplode!!!! Crap, now I'll have to remake everything, I'm sure the problem is in the save game files, this happened 6 mos ago, I think my hardrive might be bad.

Now I'll have to spend all night reloading all my sims 2 games........GRRRRRR

I hope I can save my lots, I just got done building a beautiful mansion that took me like 100 hrs.......not to mention my whole medieval lot and all my families....I hope I can save atleast my neighborhoods, lots, and families. I hope all that stuff isn't corrupted.

Serena_Moonstone 11th May 2009 7:31 AM

BWAAAAHAHAHA!!!!!! I am a genius!!!!! I noticed my cigen and caches were gi-normous, do I deleted them. My game is loading as we speak!!!!! Well I can stop losing my hair now......

Vampire_aninyosaloh 11th May 2009 2:01 PM

A month ago my game crashed and I had to install again all the expansion and stuff packs that I have and all the downloads. And I also lost all the cc I had made

Serena_Moonstone 12th May 2009 5:31 AM

Wow that suck.....But sometimes re-loading sims2 make thing more fun, because you have a challenge to re-do everything. Sometimes things end up being better the second time.

Vampire_aninyosaloh 13th May 2009 9:20 PM

It's really beautyful...

Vampire_of_Death 14th May 2009 1:26 AM

I do too, the gloves is what it was missing. I can't wait to have them!!
