Making Sim Stuff - Whatchoo Up To?

This thread is for everyone but it's also a place for people who make stuff for the game to show off what they are doing: their work in progress. The thread idea came about when we were having a chat over in the main disucssion section and I said I'd like a thread over here in the Sims 2 section for The Sims 2 game only where we could talk about creating things and suggested a thread to show off work in progress. I said:

Quote: Originally posted by maxon
A thread where we can show what we're doing currently, what is planned and where we are. I know the creator issues section is (very, very) useful for when you are getting something ready for upload and need testing and feedback but I was thinking more of a show-and-tell thread. One of the things I found while making Polgannon was that even the most casual comments from people over in Creator Feedback was incredibly encouraging and really helped with a long-term project that was hard-going at times. There are more viewers/posters here so maybe we'd all benefit from more exposure. Besides which, I'm a nosey bugger as I've said before on here and I want to know what others are up to.

So this is not intended as a feedback or testing thread. Creator Feedback is the place if you've got to that point or one of the dedicated threads over in Social. Please don't post files for people to download, just pictures or extended posts about what you're doing or what you think about what you're seeing.

This is a place to show stuff and show off stuff and talk about the process of making - the initial ideas, how you're going about it, how far you've got, thoughts, ideas, comments, discussion. Everybody's comments are welcome, even, especially, if you don't make stuff yourself. This is a community talking shop.

If the thread is approved, I'll come back and post all over it with pictures of what I've been making today (a project about half complete) but in the meantime, here's a picture of a folder on my desktop called SimPE Working Folder - you can see in there elements that belong to another project that got stopped as I started to work on Polgannon exclusively earlier this year. Personally, I get bored working on one thing at once and, particuarly if I run into a problem, I'll stop work on one thing and move on to another. I gives me time to think while also being able to go on doing the creative stuff I enjoy. This is what happened here. I will get back to this project shortly (I've thought through a solution to the issue). Polgannon stopped a lot of projects half way through though - I have a big backlog at the moment.

maxon 20th Sep 2015 11:42 PM

OK - well, having had the thread approved, I said I'd post about what I've been doing and so here it is. I wanted to do something else with the poster I made for Polgannon - mainly because that was a lot of work. So I made some recolours using it and other examples of British travel posters. I don't know if you got similar things elsewhere in the world. Here there were a whole pile of these, as far as I can tell, from around the beginning of the 20th century towards its end. You don't tend to see them now. They weren't posters made by the towns they advertise but were usually made by railway companies trying to get people to travel for their holiday (vacation). They could be very stylised or rather silly but were often very eye-catching. Because they were made for the railway companies, you tended to see them in railway stations. I've made 4 so far and have plans for another 4. Here are some of them in the station at Carping Magna.

Is anybody else making stuff at the moment? I'd really like to see what people are working on.

Lili975 21st Sep 2015 12:10 AM

The posters look really great!
I'm glad you ended making this thread, too.

simsample 21st Sep 2015 12:38 AM

Wow Maxon, that's a big projects folder!

I like the posters a lot, especially the Polgannon one as I'm a bit of a fan.

I'm working on an old Sims 2 neighbourhood of mine, but not sure whether to upload. It seems most people like populated hoods (at least, I had a lot of comments to that effect with my Sims 3 worlds), whereas I like to create empty hoods which I can then play more than once with different sims. So the one I'm working on would be uploaded empty.

Ather 21st Sep 2015 12:45 AM

I'm glad this thread was created! Thanks Maxon for bringing it into fruition.

Simsample, that's actually a really good idea! If/when you get to uploading that 'hood, I'd definitely play with it. Looks gorgeous, too.

Anyways, I had just made a thread over in Creator's Feedback, when I saw this thread was up! So... here. I certainly can post a few pictures here, though.

It's going to be really fun building this, let alone playing once it's all done.

maxon 21st Sep 2015 1:08 AM

A really nice sense of place for both of those (that's a big hood though SimSample). It's one thing I really like about building hoods, making it look like somewhere. I love seeing Criquette's stuff used too.

Bigsimsfan12 21st Sep 2015 5:00 AM

Planning out a Multi-PT mod, so far I've had a mess about with SimPE and body shop to get use to it and turned two Belladonna Cove sims into aliens

viluxa 21st Sep 2015 6:22 AM

Great idea for a thread.

Those hoods are beautiful. I wish I had the patience to do hood building/decorating. One day, maybe...

I've been playing with bodyshop and photoshop. I did my first hair retexturing the other day and now I'm trying my hand at retexturing clothes. So I decided to practice with the simple maxis turtleneck dress and coat as I kinda like the mesh. This is what I have:

I'm actually happy with the coat and some of the texture painting in the bottom half of the dress, but the top half has gone through some torturing phases. I also got a little carried away and forgot to check the sides where it comes together so the side seam is kinda noticeable and I can't seem to fix it :/.

I have to test it in game to see how good/bad it is and if it's worth fixing. Oh and I haven't even touched the boots, I don't know what to do with them yet. Ideally I'd like to shoe-swap them, but I don't have time to learn how to do that now, so I'm thinking I'll try to retexture them too if the dress looks OK in game, if not, boots stay.

Ather 21st Sep 2015 6:44 AM

Haha, viluxa, funny you say that! I always wished I could mesh/recolor clothing. Thank you for the compliment, though. That dress is really lovely! Got any pictures of it in Bodyshop?

viluxa 21st Sep 2015 7:44 AM

Thank you too . I don't mesh though, yet... but basic recoloring is pretty easy, try looking up a tutorial, I'm sure you could do it.

Here's the dress in bodyshop.

You can see the seam in the first and third picture. I need to go in game some time to check how noticeable it is there.

The coat texture is bothering me now and I don't know what more to do with it. It feels like it's missing something (It is kind of a bland mesh, but still..). And the chest area looks really weird. I think this will stay an experiment.

PS: That's the hair I retextured. The fringe was hell, but nothing compared to the dress.

simmer22 21st Sep 2015 8:17 AM

My project folder is 55.6 GB, and that's just the current laptop folder. My desktop computer is also packed. Granted, there are pictures, textures, extracted files, and some TS3/TS4 items for converting, but still...

I tend to work simultaneously on at least ten projects, particularly when converting stuff. My latest project is to accessorize some deco backpacks, and some accessories for my story. Still have a bit of mesh editing left, but it's going great.

MileyTheSimmer 21st Sep 2015 9:22 AM

I'm working on some default face templates, I have beautified about 5/6 templates so far that I didn't like, I'm beautifying every face template I don't like then defaulting them which will take a little while and I might not be going on the computer as much starting September 27 or so.
I have attached a few before & after pictures, and I did attach a picture of the beautified gorilla-ish face on another thread by Jawusa but I'm attaching it here too.

maxon 21st Sep 2015 1:10 PM

I don't know why you're worried about that first face Miley. I really like that.

MileyTheSimmer 21st Sep 2015 4:48 PM

It's good to know you like it maybe I will keep it after all.
I'm running into a problem, yeah sure the female sims look super good in the face templates, then you check out the faces using a male.. oh god no! most of them look like faces made out of play-dough by a 5 year old!

Feedback: Nice creations everybody. By the way, viluxa don't be too hard on yourself because I don't see a seam no matter how hard I look

maxon 21st Sep 2015 6:21 PM

Are you changing the different ages too Miley?

MileyTheSimmer 21st Sep 2015 6:48 PM

Yeah I will make sure the different ages look good with the templates
This will take some time though since it's my first time making face template replacements and like I said, I'm going to be busy starting from September 27.

Ather 21st Sep 2015 6:49 PM

Looking good, Miley!

Viluxa, I actually did recolor clothing before (my one and only upload here is some t-shirts, actually) - I just don't find it really entertaining. Bored me to sleep, haha. Fiddled around with meshing, even bought Milkshape, but ughhh... Bones... no. Please no, anything but meshing.

I'm trying to recolor some of Poppet's hairs/textures to have more natural colors... kind of like how Pooklet has a bunch of different blacks, browns, etc...? It's a pain in the butt because I can never decide on what colors look good enough. Thinking I'll need to post here with some pictures later and ask for help. By the way, that retextured hair is really nice!

maxon 21st Sep 2015 7:12 PM

Face templates are not a quick job.

@Ather we need to be a bit careful I think about asking for help - strictly, that's what Creator Feedback is for and you get some good help there.

Ather 21st Sep 2015 7:30 PM

Ahh, yes, pardon me, Maxon. Wrote that right after I had woken up. Of course! Creator Feedback it is.

MileyTheSimmer 21st Sep 2015 8:10 PM

I'm thinking of making 5 to 10 face templates and uploading them. What do you think? I will not have much time so uploading some is actually a good start, I'm going to open up bodyshop and make sure all ages look good with the faces I have made so far.

I'd post in Creator Feedback and get some, well, feedback first.

That's always a difficult one. It looks great and has a nice sense, as I said, of being a real place. OTOH, so many residential lots likely mean many of them will never be played since it's unlikely people would have that many families in the neighbourhood. Then again, given the choice, I think people might like such a rich choice and, of course, everyone will choose different places so that's not necessarily a problem. Big neighbourhood is lots of work though (speaking from experience).

I'd totally download Blue Haven if you decide to upload it. It looks great and meet my criterias and I suck at using SC4.

simsample 23rd Sep 2015 10:20 AM

Thanks for your replies; maybe I'll upload that one as well as making a smaller one, then!

maxon 29th Sep 2015 1:32 AM

Does anyone know anything about the guy who makes Milkshape? I reinstalled my copy on the new computer but I can't find the unlock code. I'm sure I backed up my emails but I have no idea where they are. Anyway, I emailed the guy four days ago now and have had no reply. Having paid for it legitimately, I'm getting pretty PO.

Edit - update to say he's been in touch. I can get on with the posters now.

SleepyTabby 8th Oct 2015 2:00 AM

So many awesome projects.

I don't have any pictures to contribute at the moment, but like Bigsimsfan12, I just completed my own multi-PT set, thanks to the fantastic and easy-to-follow tutorial by Simgaroop. I wanted each template to pass on a different body shape, so that meant making and texture-referencing quite a few skins. I'm glad that's over with!

I was tired of my old skintones, so I made some new ones that I've been testing out. I'm fairly satisfied with them finally, so I want to add in some more in-between shades.

I also wanted more detailed but still animation-friendly eyes, so I found a sclera I liked and made a large set of eyes for my game. I can't remember who made the sclera at the moment, but I know I have it written down on my computer.

I also want to finish replacing all of the Maxis hairs, since I don't like their default color palette.

And I want to convert more clothes for different body shapes.

I guess I feel like juggling a lot of projects that I intend to finish eventually.

d_dgjdhh 8th Oct 2015 8:17 AM

Here's something I'm currently working on. It's a prize wheel from some old TV show from the US, 1980s. See if you know which show this comes from.

And perhaps guess the hangman type riddle? The topic is fictional characters:

The only downside to this project will be animations for the prize wheel. Will have to continue researching how to make it revolve. If I can't, I'll need to find someone who knows how to program that into the object.

maxon 8th Oct 2015 2:10 PM

I'll have an A and an H please. That looks great. I've never tried animations though I have an idea for something that would involve that (a longer term project I hasten to add - takes me long enough to get the short term ones off the ground). I did wonder about using poseboxes poses within animations since the sims move their limbs into position which can look (or be made to look) like an appropriate animation.

ooo share if you can - that's something I want to do and I did start. I have a lot of old eyes where I'd like to replace the texture with a scelera-d version. The problem (one of the problems) with running a very long-term hood like Little Carping (this version since 2007) is that you have to hang on to old CC, especially genetics, since deleting it is a problem (a fixable problem but all the same). I have a lot of old eyes and skintones in my main game. More or less all the skintones have been edited but that was done a long while back. The eyes not so much.

I also like using different bodyshapes. I was thinking a while back of seeing if I could make the collections of skins for each body type invisible in the main catalogue but visible in a collection so I don't have to kill myself remembering what skins are for which sims.

SleepyTabby 8th Oct 2015 5:42 PM

I'd like to solve, d_dgjdhh.

Right now, I'm still torn on how satisfied I am with the eyes I made. I'll update with some screenshots later today. But I don't think I have ever felt totally satisfied after "completing" a project of any kind.

It's practically a hobby of mine to boot up SimPE after playing to tweak my Sims' genetics. Of course, my 'hood does not date back to 2007 (wow!), and I think it's barely a month old. I can't imagine how many Sims you'd have. That's an awesome project in itself.

Is it possible to make skins and clothes only appear for the appropriate body type? That would be extremely useful.

maxon 8th Oct 2015 6:39 PM

You mean in a collection file? It's doable with objects so skins might be similar. Basically with objects, you put them into a collection (you created) and then come out of the game. Boot up SimPE, hide the objects from the catalogue (edit the OBJD) and that should mean you see them in the collection but not the cataloge. Too lazy to get on with it though and try.

I didn't know much about collection files, to be honest, so thanks for explaining that. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime...but I can be pretty lazy and forgetful, so we'll see.

I took a few pictures of the eyes I've been working on so I have something to show here instead of just telling. The sclera turned out to be a blend of my Natural Elements eyes and Poppet's edit of mswn's sclera. So you know, the caruncle is a layerable blush I found somewhere by Pooklet.

d_dgjdhh 9th Oct 2015 8:18 AM

Oh, I was doing great until bodyshop decided to be mean to me and started to crash, It always does that but it gets fixed on it's own later
Edit: is that skin yours or what? I think it looks beautiful

SleepyTabby 10th Oct 2015 2:32 AM

Sounds like you have a temperamental Bodyshop. If it's one thing I wish was different about Sims 2, it would be that it and its components were more stable and less buggy.

And yes, that is the new skintone I've been working on. Thank you for your kind words. The freckles and makeup aren't part of it, though. It's basically my Imperfection set only modified to look, well, better in my opinion.

maxon 10th Oct 2015 11:16 AM

You find TS2 unstable and buggy? I ask because I'm kind of shocked at that statement. My game is solid as a rock.

SleepyTabby 10th Oct 2015 5:57 PM

More of it's easy to mess up in. I don't have problems with stability, but it's clear to me that others do.

As for being buggy, well, I consider corruption pretty buggy. It's not a big problem if you know what not to do, but when you first start out and your Sim forgets they have a brother who they had been best friends with the day before, all because you used the function the game provided to delete Sims you didn't want to play with...that's what I consider a bug or at least weird.

But once I learned about corruption and how to prevent it, I haven't had so many issues.

d_dgjdhh 13th Oct 2015 8:23 AM

Here's some more updates with the Wheel Base of the show:

And another puzzle to solve. The category is "Before & After". Perhaps not very helpful, but maybe some letters can help:

simsample, I am positively DROOLING over that university hood! I hope you plan to upload it.

I'm working on Aselia, a custom content free custom Asian vacation hood using Isla Chica. This project has become a monster with about 30 lots and 77 MB of space and I'm still not done yet. I'll post it to Creator Feedback within the next few days.... when my fingers stop twitching from typing and clicking.

maxon 22nd Oct 2015 7:16 PM

Finally - FINALLY - finished the posters. I think I might take the new mesh over to Creator Feedback and make sure it's working as advertised. I've never actually released one of my own remeshes before so I feel the need to check before (and if) I do post them. Anyway, here they are: full set followed by pairs a bit closer in. I'm fairly pleased with them. I'm gratified to have solved a couple of problems with them but I'm struggling atm with the clickable area on the mesh. Not sure what went awry there.

Hi everyone. Here's some new images of the WIP wheel base. Now with podiums for the contestants.

And a shot of what it could look like on a TV screen, if given the proper effects.

The wheel base has shrunk proportionally by 10% to make it shorter in height for the contestants. The railings are now at the hip line of the players.

DezzyDoesThings 28th Oct 2015 4:43 PM

Is this fully playable? Like can you make puzzles and have the Sims play or....how does this work?

d_dgjdhh 28th Oct 2015 6:13 PM

The plan is to have the wheel spin to a specific wedge and to have your Sim "practice speech" as if they're looking at a mirror to give the impression that they are giving a letter. The control is still over the user to make the Sims perform actions. This is pretty much something that can be used to make films. There is a puzzle board already uploaded here on MTS that the user can use to make up puzzles.

There's no custom animations for the wheel, nor the puzzle board. I haven't learned how to make animations.

Here's an example of a YouTube clip from someone who made a small WOF episode. You can see that the Sims stand behind a podia and "practice speech" due to their microphones acting as mirrors. The Sim "turning the trilons" of the puzzle board stands in front of it and the user clicks the trilon to turn it around, rather than the sim.

The blood moon is unfortunately just photoshopped. (Just to make the picture look 'creepier')
But the neighborhood will be uploaded soon...

And it will have... special inhabitants.

Maxon, the clickable area (is it too large ro too small?) happens if you don't import the mesh properly. if you import the meshes separately, the last mesh part gets the clickable area. It's called 'bounding mesh' - but only use the tick button in the mesh replacing window, not the one under 'groups' (it can mess things up or crash your game).

AmandieLove 2nd Nov 2015 2:32 AM

@maxon Would this thread work as a place to show off WIP lots (that I most likely won't upload), or should I make another thread for that?

Anyway, here are pics from two lots I am working on. I got the exterior of Summerset Jr/Sr High School (in Tumbleton, where the temple/mosque used to be) and the home team stands of its football field done tonight.

I have some questions....
1. Is there a better way to make bleachers in the stands than stairs?
2. Is there a way to make a lot larger than the largest blank lot size given in the game? Between the home stands and the guest seating, I am not sure that there will be room for the football field itself.
4. When there is a wall in between two parts of a two-tile window (like the one covered by the quilt in the high school), only the frame shows. (The wall is never opened for the glass.) Is there any way to fix it? Or will I have to assume a hooligan somehow got 3 stories up and broke a window and despite being in the richest school district in Simnation, SJSHS can't be bothered to replace a window?
3. Does anyone have any general advice on how to improve it? (I know I forgot roofing on the football bleachers, at least at the time of the screenshot.)

Thanks.

maxon 2nd Nov 2015 3:02 AM

Completely fine by me - I made the thread mainly because I'm nosey and want to know what people are up to. Ambitious lots. Stairs are a good idea because they produce the right kind of appearance though the downside is the sims can't sit on them. For sittable stands, I guess you'd have to use different levels and the constrain floor elevation cheat but you'd struggle to get the angle right. I guess it depends what you want the lot for. If you're going to play it or whether it is just a sort of hood decoration.

If I decided to play on the field, I would use a pose box and OMSPs. It would be nice if stairs could have a wall right at the top step; that'd make my bleachers more realistic.

And I actually did use CFE to make the shorter walls for the top of the high school! It's a great cheat.

Gorgeous building AmandieLove. It's eerily similar to a middle school I briefly attended.

I would definitely download if you decided to upload it. I've been putting off building my schools forever, especially high schools, because the project would feel so big.

At the moment I'm working on a childhood pub we used to eat dinner at yonks ago. I grew up in a very picturesque English village so those memories are a good starting point if I'm building things like pubs or bungalows.

I really like this one mesh - Raon 39, 3t2 - but the only one I could find in Pooklet'd textures/colors had borked links! So I decided it was high time to kick myself in the butt and start familiarizing myself with retexturing hairs (despite actually double-checking if anyone else had a working link of said retextures... ah well. Practice, nonetheless!). It's actually quite therapeutic - the opposite effect of when I try to mesh.

I really do need to learn to resize images before putting them online... argh. Next time, I promise.

I'm trying to finish my Church of England career designed for Len and Cedric in Polgannon. I've been trying to write the chance cards today. Am I the only one who hates writing chance cards? I've got the levels done and everything else but I both love and loathe writing chance cards. I love it because writing them well is a real challenge and can be really enjoyable. The issue I have with them is thinking up problems that I can work with. You have to have 4 outcomes for earch level, 2 good 2 bad. These are my levels so far:

Trainee Priest
Deacon
Assistant Curate
Curate
Vicar
Archdeacon
Dean - staff
Suffragan Bishop - Accounting problem
Bishop - scandal - affair?
Archbishop - Political issue

I can think of things for the top levels because - I don't know why, I never find those particularly difficult. It's the deacons and curates that are getting to me. I think the vicar will have something to do with a crisis of confidence/belief while the archdeacon will probably have some kind of political maneouvering a la Trollope. I probably need to have a quick refresher on The Warden and Barchester Towers generally for that. Sigh - I was hoping to get it done this week. Ah well.

That's a shame - it does take persistence and dedication to build a whole neighbourhood though and if it's not fun, it's not worth the bother.

I am doing a project what just yesterday seemed to never going to be finished

BIG Thank You @Jawusa , who was kind to offer to meke the SC4 terrain to me :lovestruc

I am doing custom mountain/winter- themed university, have been doing it for ages, just today received the terrain from Jawusa and as it is soon 2am here I only managed to put some of the communitylots to the new terrain

Crappy pics, just token with ingame camera , as I need to go to bed.

simsample 22nd Dec 2015 1:51 AM

I started on that smaller neighbourhood I was planning. So far I made an SC4 terrain and built one lot. So this may take some time!

d_dgjdhh 25th Dec 2015 4:56 AM

So the game show project I was working on before is on hiatus until I get back to searching for objects that can rotate.

Now I'm in the process of making a contest for this forum for The Sims 2. It's a lot builders/designers competition that has a slight twist. I'm currently looking for judges who'd like to score the competition and players who'd like to participate in creating lots on a set guideline.

I'm editing the wallmasks for these converted TS4 windows.

I've been working on some terrains for my test neighborhoods. This one could be smaller but it has some beachfront property so I'll be moving in a few sims to see how it works. I can always remove or change the roads if they don't turn out the way I want. The neighborhood sky object dome warps a little from an overhead view but looks fine from the ground. I change the colors all the time anyway. You can see the little blue dot up in the right hand corner.

ETA: Credit for neighborhood deco

I used castaway conversions for the jungle trees, volcanoes and huts: PlumbBobKeep http://www.medievalsims.com/forums/...hp?f=166&t=4838 for the volcanoes. I got the trees and huts from MATY but can't currently find the link. I admit I tweaked the CS objects from MATY so I could place them anywhere.

The sky object is by nimi: http://nimi4.livejournal.com/51103.html

That terrain is gorgeous eliset. I'm envious of you and simsample. Since Windows 10 I can't get SC4 to work for the life of me. I got pretty close with everything displaying right, but the text remained invisible throughout all my attempts.

Thank you! I had several problems with Win 10 that I couldn't resolve, all of them graphics related. After fighting with it for days, I went back to Win 7.

One of my current projects so far. I got tired of the Maxis cat tree as it doesn't look right anywhere IMO. This should be able to slot into corners like my real life kitties' tree. I've noticed cats don't whine and compain if all sides aren't open, even though they seem to have animations for each of them.

And plus, pets just need more objects. Compared to TS1 Unleashed Maxis got a bit lazy on pet accessories.

maxon 3rd Jan 2016 1:32 PM

That's nice - if I might make a suggestion, I think the shelves need to be a little deeper so the cats aren't so close to the edges.

Bubblebeam 3rd Jan 2016 2:02 PM

Oh yeah, the mesh isn't anywhere near finished. I'm still trying to solve that, while maintaining the corner look. Silly kitties sleep on the edge of the tile.

maxon 3rd Jan 2016 3:34 PM

Well, I'd encourage you to keep going, that's something I think a lot of players would like.

New subhood

Lately i've been making a new shopping district, a little woodland town that I plan to be a bit artsy. It'll have an arts college, artist commune, art shops and other boutiques. Here is the main street.

@Jawusa , here is how the Alpine University looks atm

Jawusa 18th Jan 2016 12:55 PM

It looks beautiful! I love the way you placed the lots into the neighborhood. The layout looks great!

d_dgjdhh 29th Jan 2016 3:16 AM

Have an update to the "Disk Of Karma" wheel. Now it rotates and "lands" on random wedges. See it here:

And a second update made after that video, the wheel's base now flashes with light. The following images work better with Firefox or any browser that can process Animated PNGs. See below:

And here's a puzzle for you to solve. The category is a "Fictional Character". Letters given for free include R, S, T, L, N, E:

maxon 29th Jan 2016 11:07 AM

That seems to be going very well indeed. Can you operate the wheel from any of the three sims stations?

d_dgjdhh 30th Jan 2016 1:14 AM

Yes. Actually, you operate the wheel anywhere you are. It's an immediate effect that doesn't require the action to be queued in the Sims's thoughts.

EDIT: Now here's a "Simlish" wheel suitable for the game, minus a funky looking color scheme.

Metamorp 5th Feb 2016 8:27 PM

Here is a little project I've been working on as of late, a new apartment building for you lot to enjoy! I'm taking into account a lot of old, mid-century skyscrapers (such as Price Tower, among others) for inspiration! I'll be posting it here on MTS once it is finished!

maxon 5th Feb 2016 11:59 PM

That has a nice old-fashioned vibe.

Liv 6th Feb 2016 11:14 PM

Widokova restaurant.
EDIT: finished.

Fallout 4's grip on my attention is finally waning a bit (still love it) and I've been thinking about TS2 stuff again. I thought I'd try and get on with these walls today which have been on the chocks for absolutely ages, dating back to my pub building obsession of a while back. This is the folder in progress. They're meant to be for tiled pubs - very British thing - see picture. In Victorian colours. I'm quite pleased with those. Only the honey coloured wall files are actually done (and are being used as a template for the rest) and only the basic walls. There are plans to add those flower tiles to the walls too. And maybe some encaustic floors to go with them. I'm thinking of aiming for the 'Vintage' month achievement. I find working on this stuff hard-going at times. I work for a while, get bored and want to do something else. No wonder I'm so slow.

This thread needs more posts. I love seeing peoples work.

Lately I've been working on these townhouses for my new hood. The pic was taken in hood view as it is two lots joined with the LA. Heavily based off this image.

I've also had this tea set waiting in my upload queue for months, but I'm never satisfied with the tray. Now my dang SimPE is playing up so I can't really go back to it.

maxon 27th Feb 2016 8:31 PM

Oh yes, I like those. I like building terraces/row houses myself. And I love that tea set. It's because it's an American game but as an English player TS2 really lacks tea. Funny because I'm not really a tea drinker myself.

Bubblebeam 28th Feb 2016 10:01 AM

That's what got me making it. Of course I could have just changed an existing set to say 'Drink Tea' instead of coffee, but I wanted a short traditionally shaped teapot, and I've never seen one in existence. Most are tall to compensate for the height of the animation, but I've just put the tray on legs.

What're you working on Maxon?

maxon 28th Feb 2016 12:17 PM

Excellent - I do hope you get round to releasing it. I could see myself doing recolours of that.

I'm working on two things today and tomorrow as an antidote to marking (so I don't expect to go very fast because working on stuff is in short bursts when I can't stand any more student illogicality) - a set of Victorian pub walls (as detailed above) and trying to get something online about Polgannon's solution.

I haven't really looked in here before, because the thread title is confusing. XD But I finally got around to trying to recolour these https://hat-plays-sims.dreamwidth.org/32432.html (the smocks) in brighter colours and I needed a second opinion as I think they might be a little too bright.

Thought I'd give this a bump with my own not-so-exciting update. I can't play much these days due to frequent crashing but I'm finally coming to a close on my set of European style townhouses. Fits quite nicely with my high street lots too (top left).

omglo 4th May 2016 4:57 PM

It's going to take awhile to make this conversion do everything I want it to and to line up the animations/mesh etc, but I'm really pleased with it so far.

I'm having another bored-with-playing spell so that's when I decide to create/recolour. First bedding of a new multipack.

Would love to see everyones projects, especially updates to previously posted ones.

lfria 5th May 2016 3:56 PM

Here's my first ever shirt. It's kinda cool seeing something I made in game. I might try making something else next time I need a break from playing.
