These are great.

However, a few of the Japanese characters are incorrect, dear. They're great anyway. * downloads*

The japanese characters are not incorrect. The characters for the 12 animals of the Zodiac and the normal characters for the animals are different. The character for Rat or Nezumi in normal japanese is 鼠。However the character for the zodiac Ne is 子. This also indicates direction AND hour of the day along with the zodiac animal. Therefore the normal character for rat is NOT used in these situations. See http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%8D...%BA%8C%E6%94%AF for more information. However They may possibly be incorrect for other eastern cultures, I am not certain about that. These characters are for the japanese version of the zodiac and are correct.

You're right, I learn Chinese and some of them (I just know 3 of them) are incorrect :
子 is child
horse is 马 (in Chinese simplified) or 馬 (in Chinese trditional)
dragon s 龙 (simplified) or 龍 (traditional)

These are very nice. ^_^ I rather like the Eastern zodiac... it's more accurate for me than the astrological one. Heh... Where's the cat, though? x3

Also... because I can't seem to help it, I'd like to point out that the characters used on these are correct. They are correct in China, in Japan, and probably anywhere else that refers to the Zodiac using Chinese characters. The characters used are used specifically in this way for the Zodiac. Check Wiki, people, ne? ^^

Japanese? >.> HEY! I'm pretty sure that it's the Chinese who came up with them (after all it's called the 'Chinese Zodiac') and we use them too :/ it's going to be the year of the Ox next year.

I'm also not sure about labelling it "eastern" since it's only used in China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam...

Else, This is freaking awesome...thanks you for sharing this! It's original ^_^

First of all, please forgive me if you fine my following comment offensive.
As a Chinese, I must say those characters and symbols are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.
Originally, ancient Chinese used 天干 and 地支 to keep track of time and year, just like Arabic numbers. Gradually, those 地支 were symbolized by different animals due to the similarity of pronunciation, as least in acient Chinese language, and it's easier for rural people to use and memorize them.
On the contrary, while people use animals to symbolized 地支, 天干 remains the same.

Please don't call them " JAPANESE " zodiac, for they are never Japanese.
Even after 1951, those tradition persists in Chinese people's life, the Communists didn't eliminate them.
Nowadays, in China, Taiwan or HongKong, people still use these characters to symbolize time and year.
Frankly speaking, it's very offensive to see people calling these characters and symbols JAPANESE ZODIAC, and in some sense, by doing so,you are helping the Japanese stealing our culture and tradition.

Sorry to offend, none was intended. The only reason I called them the Japanese Zodiac is that I know little of Chinese Culture, but I knew they were used this way in Japan, because I've lived in Japan for a couple of years. I had no intention of ever "stealing" the zodiac from the Chinese. I will make the appropriate changes in my post.
