Hey, glacier, very cool indeed. And a good idea.
After finding out who Enayla was and that she is featured on a few websites of digital artists, I am now searching for good images there and asking those other artists for their permissions. I mean, what better place for digital art than in a digital home?

BTW-- are you using SimPE to import the images to the txtr file? If so, what standard are you using-- DXT1 or Raw24 or ? ?. Raw24 seems to look the best, but the files are huge!

I no longer use TXTR Extractor I just use the Photo Studio plugin at the RAW32 setting (the one that still says RAW24 - its been changed to RAW32 but the name on the drop down has not). I just import straight in. It does result in occasional problems (see my posts in the Photo Studio thread in the Tools Forum) but with the stuff I am finding the huge file but fantastic quality is worth it. As you can see from the above even the screenshots look really good.

And as for links - you can see some I provided - from there you can quite literally go on for days and NOT come to an end. And some of the stuff I am coming across I have for myself - just waiting to see if I can get permission to use because its awesome. Heck when I came across the TerraDream site I was in heaven. Simply fantastic images AND in themes I personally like. It really has been a joy to look at all the fantastic work available and drool over it. The hard part is getting the permission and some great stuff will never be available because the artist has said they dont want it available anywhere else - a pity since I am sure they would get more people coming to appreciate and buy their works if they made it available for Sims 2. But that is their choice and one we have to respect.

And as you say PFN its great digital art and where else to get it bit from the homes of digital art and the artists themselves.

But where in Photo Studio are you finding those horizontal paintings with such a nice frame? I hate that the biggest base objects we have to choose from there have only crappy gray wooden looking frames. I was using the color-options-enabler to create some re-colours using the "horizontalcolorfield", then importing the images with SimPE, but it doesn't always work.

Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours

Default Ok..
I'm the one who is titled "arson" above. You believed thats the artists name, but why believe when you have the permission? Or wait, didn't you have the permission? What a surprise... :argh:

My Name is XR666 and my picture is called Arson, as you can see here.

Oh what true words, but how give permissions if not asked? Didn't you say you have to respect if the artists say no? Then respect my answer... NO. You're obviously lying.
I gave NOT my permission, so how can you say you have used it with permission?
You could simply asked for permission and now it goes this way round... well, your decision ;-)
I'll ask Peter (The Admin) and the other guys if you really have their permission, i'm interested to see what they say about that "pic-robbery".

One thing in glacier's defense about the images being flipped-- it is the game that does that.
So, when making objects like this for the game, we have to constantly remember to flip the image before putting into the game, then the in-game image will be proper. It is a common mistake to forget to do this, but later usually noticed and corrected.

At terradreams.de we hear from other people using our pictures without permisson all the time!
Even if the name of the artist is written clearly below the image or is even written on the frame of the picture, some users seem not to be able to read!
They keep on writing: "author unknown."

One time, somebody took pictures from Peter (Admin at terradreams.de) and other members, cut them into pieces, laid over a canvas-filter in PS and sold them at ebay for over thousand Euro= about 1000$! :busted:
This is no joke!

Thats the way it goes:
Someone takes a picture, loads it up in the internet without asking for permission, another one takes it passes it on.
It ends up with some guys presenting "their" artworks on websites being honoured for "their" talent and work.
:banned:

It takes up hours and hours to create a good TerraGen-Image and weeks and months to learn how to do these brilliant images. So it would be nice if you would not copy our pictures and saying: "I asked for permission." :blah:

I believe this was only a mistake and you misunderstood Peter and that you will correct this soon.
Thanks.

If you sent me something at about the time your reply was made it never came through (I do find I get knocked off MTS2 occasionally and that seems to have been at the time you said you sent a message - and there is still nothing in my PM box.). However your painting has been removed. I apologise as it seems a reply I got was from a different source though I cannot be 100% since I do not keep emails.

If you need work, be my guest and have a flick through these:

They may not be of the highest standard but you are more than welcome to use them providing you give me a bit of reference. Just click on the thumbs for a larger image. Regards, Kees Terberg

Just had a quick glance and there are some very interesting images there. Definetly going to see about using some in paintings. Thanks for the link.

Ehhh, keep in mind that the site features more members than just me: terbergk/kees. On the left you will have more folders subtotalling 600 of my images.... but please dont use other members work without THEIR conscent. Some people are rather picky... If anyone likes my shots, hey, that pleases me. If the Sims will have my work on their walls... that goes pretty much along the same line. Have fun my friend.

ps. For the blocked ones (gray with a lock on them), just click on them to set your viewer ratings. The slightly more explicit ones are hidden to avoid the shots from blocking internet cafe access.

Weird isn't it? I had always thought that this was one of the best ways to get your works known as an artist. To have people use the work in their game would seem to me to be an appreciation of the work akin to having a print of it on your wall. I know of artists that have become well known because their images were used on websites. But... I was wrong. I guess not all artists are ready for the free publicity yet.
