Will you be creating a How-To or give some tips on creating your own themes with the cleaner program?

I really like this feature and am interested in learning more about it.

Oh, that's okay, anything can happen.

Of course, I will write instructions on how to create my own theme, but somehow it is a little different from The Sims theme.

I've got a question for you. I have an older save that I know must be bloated to all heck, but when I put it in the save folder and run the program I get this error:

System.IO.InvalidDataException: Expected magic tag 'DBPF'. Found '(it shows three squares like my system doesn't have the right symbols or something)'
at Regul.S3PI.Package.Package.CheckHeader()
at Regul.S3PI.Package.Package..ctor(Stream s)
at RegulSaveCleaner.Core.Save.UnParse(Stream s)
at RegulSaveCleaner.Core.Save..ctor(String strPath)
at RegulSaveCleaner.ViewModels.MainWindowViewModel.<LoadingSaves>d__56.MoveNext()

Several windows with this error pops up and will continue to pop up even when I exit out of it, I have to shut the program down with Task Manager. At first I thought it maybe had to do with me using ElleCharmed's world fixes, therefore requiring me to do a new save regardless of your program, but there was no fix for this particular world (Barnacle Bay). This seems to happen with all my old saves, the Regul program only seems to fix new games I start, but I also just downloaded someone else's save and it seemed to work just fine there, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Your help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the new version of Regul (1.04). I love the new added features and languages. It cleans even better than the previous version. I was able to copy my theme over as well. I am tickled Pink!!

I am sorry to see the Clear Memory feature be taken out. I found it actually useful, as even with memories turned off in my settings it seemed to clean something making my save file even smaller than with previous versions.

Removed the "Clear Memory" function as it was rendered meaningless.

Doesn't work for me actually caused error code 12 to happen on both save and save as for that save file. It only used to happen with save not save as. Figured I'd let you know but I do like the UI of this cleaner though good job there looks clean. Luckily I have backups so I didn't loose anything. Hope you can get this tool working.

Hey! The error should not creep out due to the program. It only cleans SNAP, ICON and _IMG resources. If saving worked for you before after cleaning, please report the version. Also try this tutorial. This error is mostly memory related. Chances are, your Sims have a lot of items in their inventory.

Thank you for making this! I personally felt with Kuree's version I didn't have as much 'lenientness' when it came to whether I wanted to remove my sim's paintings or anything texture wise related

Thank you again for this! I haven't had any issues with it so far!

Hi! I downloaded the latest version, the .NET 5 variant. When I try to extract the files, this comes up:

I'm on Windows 10 v20H2, 64-bit. I installed .NET 5, too.
Let me know what other info you need.

Hey!
For correct unpacking, you will have to use 7-Zip. I use it to reduce the amount of space the program takes up as much as possible (it doesn't use WPF or WinForms, so it's so heavy).

Whenever I attempt to open the latest version of Regul Save Cleaner (net 5), it asks to install .NET first. However, I've already installed and even re-installed it. I've restarted my PC and extracted the files again but to no avail. Net 461 will work however.

Hey, @potato.head!
Thanks for reporting a bug! If you have an x64 bit system, have you tried installing .NET x86?

I too had a little trouble unzipping the file = RegulSaveCleaner v1.5.0-net5. It popped up this error (Unspecified Error 0x80004005) and gave me a blank folder.

https://i.ibb.co/5xPQNFg/Error.jpg

Tried the .net461 version as well with same result as above.

However, when unzipping it via 7-Zip > Extract Here it worked, just like suggested. It has folder with the Regul files in it and mod works fine!!

I used to use Kuree's Cleaner (the older version), and it served me well. This is my new go-to save cleaner, though, thanks!

Concerning running the .net5 version on 64-bit systems, installing the 32-bit version of .NET did indeed do the trick. Hopefully it can be fixed to use 64-bit .NET, though!

Also, what exactly does "Clear Cache" clear?

Hey!
Thank you for your feedback, I will study the reason for the 64 net5 cannot start.

Here is a list of files that are cleaned by the program:

Just a little feedback:

I am using RegulSaveCleaner v1.5.0-net461 on a Windows 7 service pack 1 machine with .Net 5.0.0 (x64) installed. I couldn't get the RegulSaveCleaner v1.5.0-net5 version to work but the downgraded version works just fine. I haven't tried it with .Net 5.0.0 (x86).

Thank you so much for this wonderful tool.

Hey!
Thank you for your feedback! The problem with the inability to start net5 x64 is known to me and I will release an update very soon. You can try installing x86.
I just have to make a new interface and optimize it. I was surprised that net5 is installed more than net461

I just tried out RegulSaveCleaner v1.5.0-net5. I only have the two default options checked, "Removing family portraits" and "Deleting character portraits".

The description for "Removing family portraits" says that it does not delete the portrait for the current family that shows up on the load menu (or at least I thought that it meant that).

When I ran the cleaner, then loaded my game, the portrait for the save was missing, but it exists in an earlier save game that I did not clean.

Edit: I just double checked in the backup copy that I made before cleaning, and the uncleaned version of that save has the family portrait on the load menu.

Edit2: I do not know if it makes a difference or not, but I use NRaas Traveler, and have previously traveled to Isla Paradiso as a vacation world. My actual home work is Moonlight Falls, so my save game has four worlds in it, France, IslaParadiso, Moonlight Falls, and Sims University.

It doesn't work. I have .NET 5.0 installed and still asks me to install it. I have Windows 10.

That's an known issue. Install the 32-bit version of .NET (windowsdesktop-runtime-5.0.6-win-x86) in the meanwhile.

I've been using v1.5.0-net5, so I tried v2.0.0-net5, but the program doesn't appear to launch. I tried compatibility mode for Windows 8 and 7 just to see if anything would happen, but there was no change. I verified that v1.5.0-net5 would still launch.

I downloaded v2.0.0-net461.zip and it does work, though! It does seem a bit snappier.
