@Onebeld Thank you for the option to manually assign the folder. Now it's working (: This tool is very easy to use, thank you very much.

I'm using the latest version of this cleaner and its great how it cleans so much (a save from 148MB down to 108MB). I play the game as usual but when I want to exit and save, the save process goes on for ages, just never ending! I've had to kill TS3W.exe in Task Manager just to shut it down as it won't save. To add, I ticked all boxes in the Save Cleaner. The game runs and save normally when I leave the first two check boxes checked as default (family and character portraits). I'm not sure which of the remaining 4 textures/images is causing the never ending save. Any ideas?

I just tested it with all the checkboxes - everything works great. It is rather unlikely that the problem is with parallelization, because, as you described, it works with two checkboxes.
Try not to exit the game, but click "Save As" and use a new name. Also, the game saves the game for a rather long time, I also recommend waiting about 15 minutes. If none of the points work, I'll try to remove parallelization.

I always use 'Save As' to save my game with a new name, then I exit. But a game cleaned with your save cleaner, it won't save, just spins and then it hangs, then I have to kill the game to get out.
My saves have never taken 15 mins for me before lol. I guess I'll try and wait for 15 mins, but its so long when I usually only have to wait under 5 mins! I'll let you know how it goes, don't change anything yet

The game still isn't saving. I've tested with all boxes ticked - no save.
Then:
With 'Removing family portraits' Deleting Character Portraits' and 'Removing Lot Thumbnails' - no save, waited 30mins, I ended game with Task Manager
With 'Removing family portraits' Deleting Character Portraits' and 'Removing Photos' - no save, same as above
With 'Removing family portraits' Deleting Character Portraits' and 'Removing Textures' - no save, same as above
With 'Removing family portraits' Deleting Character Portraits' and Removing Generated Images' - no save, same as above
With 'Removing family portraits' Deleting Character Portraits' - save after about 10mins but save game takes longer to start up when restarting. I don't mind using this option, but it doesn't clean as much as Kuree's Save Game Cleaner. I would prefer to tick all boxes for a complete clean but it makes the game unsaveable.

I like that the program cleans a lot of junk from game and the difference in size is amazing, but I can't get used to the long save times when there is no guarantee the game will save, especially when using a small or empty world to build in, I just don't have the patience lol. I have to stop the game with Task Managaer and start again because I couldn't save my progress, I'll give the cleaner a miss for now. Hopefully it'll work for me another time

I tried your cleaner, and I love how it cleans everything in my save games. But I have been unable to save my games since I have been using it. I try to save my save games, and it will try to save (it will take up to an hour to do so), then it crashes to the desktop. I did not have this problem before I got your cleaner.

Your cleaner is a great idea, but I think I will stick with Kuree's Save Cleaner for now until the inability to save problem is fixed.

It looks like it's all about parallelization. I will rollback soon

UPD: Just today I was thinking about it that we shouldn't leave parallelization. It is very effective when you need to process several files, but problems with the list begin. Due to the fast multi-core processor, he somehow deleted the wrong resource, otherwise there is no way to explain it. This is the most serious problem of all. I apologize for wasting your time in the game, as you could not save. I'm sorry.

It seems there is no problem with the program at all, it cleans extremely well, and the game does run more smoothly than before - but we can't save. I noticed while it was trying to save, the memory usage went very high, well over 3.2GB (which would normally cause a crash as soon as it would reach that number) but the save process just kept going on and on until i stopped it or it would crash to desktop.
Please know we appreciate your efforts in making the program, anything that helps the game run better is always welcome!
Don't give up, I'm sure you can get it working!

I waited until I saw more people reporting success with the program and downloaded it yesterday. I set the program to use hardware acceleration and delete everything except for Sims' photos and generated photos. Compared to Kuree's Save Cleaner, it gave me slightly smaller files! I've been playing just fine. Thanks for creating this! I use Nraas Saver and manually use Save As sometimes and I haven't had any problems.

Trying out the latest version (1.2.2) and I still can't save a game.
I'm curious to know why some people can save and others can't.

The only particular thing I do when I run the program is set it to Run As Administrator. I set it to run by default by going into Properties > Compatibility > Run this program as an administrator

I downloaded it and if I tick 'Remove lot thumbnails' the game won't save. Any solution for this?

I think that might have something to do with it because in game ALL inactive lots are blank (in normal and map view) when checking the box for lot thumbnails. The lots look ugly with that enabled anyway so I don't check it, but I still can't save a game, and that's the most important part!

I noticed the recent update mentioning the creator has all the additions to the game, which I also have, if that makes a difference.

I find if I don't enable 'Removing lot thumbnails' and 'Removing textures' then I can save successfully! It kind of defeats the object of doing a full clean but for a playable (and saveable!) game I can live with it until any more updates come along

Thank you so much for the new version!! I just tried it on my current save file and it cleaned the file even better than the previous version I was using did. *High-Five* Awesome job!!

There's something new about this version too, it seems to be a little more sleeker, you can see the options more clearly.

One small issue. I can't exit the program with the X button up top right of the screen. It does nothing when pressed. I have to right-click the G icon on the start bar and select close window.

I wanted to share notes on what I've experienced while testing out the different options of the cleaner program.

While testing the different options I did notice when I enabled both Removing textures and Removing lot thumbnails it seemed to have made the lots in my save look flat and odd while I was en-route to them. Once I entered the lot everything was fine.

I don't feel this is the fault of the save cleaner itself. As it is suggested to back up your save files before use. Which I did.

I don't use either of those options. I only use and have stuck with the two recommended settings of Removing Family Portraits and Deleting Character Portraits and two optional settings of Removing Photos and Removing Generated Images.

I have noticed I've never had any problems saving or installing the different versions that have been offered.

I am very glad that I finally fixed this annoying bug with inability to save in the game.
The sketches of the lots do nothing, they are on a par with the portraits of the characters, but with textures, yes, the lot becomes ugly, but that's okay. Do not use this option, so that the houses do not turn into "earth" (at least it was so with me).
Please try to describe your bug in as much detail as possible: OS version (it may hang, since Windows 7 may not support Fluent Design, which uses OlibUI), was this problem before and steps of reproduction.

Thank you for explaining the Texture option. I was trying to, but couldn't find the right descriptive words.

I use Windows 8. Best I can describe the issue is that I can't close out of the program using the X button up top right of the screen. I can minimize it and make it full screen, but clicking the X button does nothing.

This is only a problem with the newest version of the cleaner program 1.3.0.

The older version I was using (1.2.0) works just fine. I can exit it without any issue.

Call me embarassed!! I think the issue was user error. *Blush*

I don't know why or how, but the X button to close the program seems to be working correctly.

I went to clean up my current save file and clicked closer to the bottom of the X button and it automatically closed. I was like huh? So I loaded the program up again to try it again and sure enough it automatically closed when I clicked the X button.

Silly Me.. Very, -very- sorry for the worry.

Question for you Onebeld,

Will you be creating a How-To or give some tips on creating your own themes with the cleaner program?

I really like this feature and am interested in learning more about it.
