Thanks so much for your time and effort on this!

I haven't had any issues with crashing prior to Saturday night, and I note that the two crash readouts are very similar.

I have since used the patch downloader recommended above.

Both crashes happened during saves, and I believe my sims were on vacation during both instances.

Really nice, thank you. I haven't had any crashes recently but I ran the program and fixed my LAA so it says "true" now and the game runs much more quickly than it did before.

I ran it again and it still says I have LAA crashes, even though I haven't had any crashes, the LAA is fixed and my game runs fine.

It doesn't delete crash logs automatically so until you do, it will still find and report old crash logs. You can delete the logs under "File" in the Crash Log Analyzer.

Yes,that's my card...(calling names to the card ).I've had suspicions too about it but it was once I had a corrupt cache so although I keep it up to date it isn't good enough huh? Thanks anyway but a last question...Why with only Base and WA it played perfectly??

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

EDIT:Aso why doesn't it crash in CAS???

Every expansion increases the workload on the computer. Additionally, every expansion adds another layer of complexity for things to go wrong. It might be the game, it might not be. I wish The Sims generated better error logs but that's never going to happen so we are stuck with exception reports that are vague.

I will keep an eye out for patterns but my hopes are low on finding anymore than were already found. There's just too many variables.

Crashes can happen at any time for numerous reasons.

I meant why mine doesn't crash in CAS but it is probably because of the workload.

Also thanks again for the effort...

EDIT: It crashes in CAS too...It just takes more time...

Concerning the CC: I used to have several thousand pieces working perfectly fine until I installed Ambitions. I have cut down to zero, yet Create A Style continues to freeze whilst loading it, and each time I put in more than a couple .packages, the game hardly loads. As mentioned, what used to take a few seconds pre-ambitions to load, now takes a few hours! Needless to say, I don't bother playing anymore, yet I cannot see myself playing without ANY CC. Without ANY installed CC, the game runs smoothly (except Create A Style, as stated. It simply refuses to run).

Tried updating WA, but all I got was the message "Error - RTPatch: Invalid file found: Game/Bin/TS3EP01.exe"

Could this be the source of my agony? If so, do you have any idea how to fix it?

Try hitting "Reset LAA" then running the patch again.

If that doesn't work you might have to uninstall World Adventures (make sure to NOT delete save data when it asks) and install it again. Run the patch downloader again once it is installed to get it current. It should fully patch without a hitch.

Hi! Thanks for this program.

I had one crash due to LAA and fixed that with your LAA program.

I've had several crash to desktop while playing that have unknown causes. All have been access violations with different addresses listed. I'm not sure what that means.

I believe I'm up to date on patches. I used your great patch program to make sure the last patch installed correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Here's the log from the most recent one:

Hi! I feel stupid, I never liked asking for help, but I keep getting crashes. They happen randomly while in gameplay, never in CAS or if I have the town paused on map view and wander away, and I think I'm up to date on patches. I have a lot of CC, so I'll see if cutting back some of that will help.

Just an update on my previous crash report, I took all my mods out and added them back 1 by 1 and found the problem one - it was a bad merged file of medieval items - somehow had managed to merge some game mods in there instead of just objects and clothing now sorted and all is working fine, ran the game for over an hour with no crashes.

That information is very helpful. I will release an updated version of CLA soon which can detect that specific crash.

FYI, 10 crashes of the same sort were reported in this thread so far.

The updated CLA is up.

Okay, just experienced another crash (spouse did at the same time, as well). Log is below.

As mentioned in the first post on this page, I've updated all patches and taken out a mod I'd added on the date the crashes began.

I am very suspicious of these crashes happening at the same time on two different computers, both during the hour of 8 PM.

Code:

The only thing I can think of that might cause a game to crash and do so at about the same time is an anti-virus scan. Try disabling your antivirus program before playing the game.

Hmm. Thanks! I had disabled a couple of other updaters, but not anti-virus. It's funny that it waits until a save to crash, but I try disabling the anti-virus (or having it run at a different time).

It was a CTD,but somewhat different from the previous ctds.It occured suddenly and everything was back to desktop, but the desktop was transparent and during a while I was still able to see the room that I was decorating as the game crashed...Weird !

Thanks for all your help and for the update.Everyday reading carefully the thread and the posts of my fellow simmers who are too experiening a big pain !

Christmas fear had the exact same crash as you and ivyclarice had two similar crashes. No cause is known yet but, as with most crashes that aren't DEP/LAA, I suspect are related to custom content.

Yes, I have tons of CC (including tons of patterns).I test everything before installling.Delphy's tools are working hard ! But they can't prevent all issues.I think that I'll step by step reduce the amount of my Sims3packs files. It is hard, since playing with cc is what I enjoy so greatly in my sims games.

Thanks again !

Ok I got something interesting for you. I found this searching my error:

Quote:

Well, many of us had our fair of game crashes while playing spore... including me. Now while reading the crash logs I noticed that they all had one thing in common for me... and that was...

[Exception info]
date: 09-07-08
time: 17.06.44
type: ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x00000000
address: 0x1f936d7d <unknown module>

No matter what kind of a crash there was... it was always some sort of access violation (the address it was writing or reading was not always the same though). So, I looked it up...

Quote:
To put it simply, an access violation occurs any time an area of memory is accessed that the program doesn't have access to. This can be due to bad code, faulty RAM or even a bad device driver. It really doesn't matter who the culprit is, the root issue is basically the same. For instance, memory location zero is reserved for the operating system, so any application that tries to access this address will crash with an access violation. The problem with this is that it is very easy to end up with a value of zero. If you set a pointer and initialize the value to NULL (which is 0), then try to access it, you will crash in this fashion. We call this a NULL Pointer and it is very common. The error you will receive should be similar to the following:
Unhandled exception at 0x00032b15 in Application.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000
So, at that point where Spore crashed for me the game was trying to write to the adress 0x00000000. That specific location is reserved for the operating system and the game should not be trying to do that in the first place. I could suspect that I got faulty RAM or a bad device driver but since so many of other seem to have the exact same problems the only conclusion is ...the programmers did a ****ty job coding this game.

Conclusion: No easy fix here... no work-around. Just wait until they decide to fix it.

As you notice it's another EA game, and the same error I've been getting, I just decided to look around and found this. Thought you might find this useful.

Ohya this is my crash:

Not having any crashes lately but I wanted to ask if you could add a option to select a folder to search. I'm using Jonha's AGS3 and have therefore different folders where the logs could be (yes, moving them would work but it would be a nice feature).

That is consistent with a DEP crash (I underlined the important bits CLA checks for DEP crashes).

Pretty generic, so nope. I put it it in my log records though for future reference.

Yeah I figured... Just wondering if you had any ideas.

That and I wonder if it's the game trying to write to a system address. That's just bad programming! But I wouldn't put it past EA ...

Low addresses are usually error numbers. Error 0, theoretically, should mean all is well. I suspect the error is actually caused by a null reference pointer but virtually anything could do that. I think it is pretty rare in The Sims 3 though.

If you do, make sure to include their user names (if available). People don't typically change their hardware very often and often use the same custom content so I organize the logs by who posted it.
