This is a Complete Overhaul of the Lot Bin. Every lot has been fixed, improved, cleaned, and now comes with a custom thumbnail. Many of the lots have been shrunk, and several of them have 2-Step foundations...

After installing these files, the next time you generate a new TS2 Saved Game your lot catalog ("Lot Bin") should look a lot better, and the houses should be easier to use. Your sims will be able to move-in and start living - without having to worry about missing fire alarms and telephones, nasty sim references, or if they paid too much for extra acreage they just don't need.

I really tried to keep EA/Maxis' original intent for the houses in the Lot Bin. They are meant to be a "starting point" for your sim families. I tried to keep each lot's original 'flavor' - just hopefully, they are improved now. Several of the houses are Starters (priced under $20K,) and most of them are very plain inside with sparse furnishings. A few of the lots that came with later EPs/SPs were built to showcase all the new items in that pack (I kept them that way, for the most part, too.)

Every Lot Bin house/lot has been edited. (Except 3 of the houses that came with M&G - but even they have new detailed thumbnail pictures.)

Each lot now has a custom thumbnail that clearly lists the following pertinent information:
Bedrooms/Bathrooms/AvailableParking/Pools-Lakes-etc. AND which EP/SP/Lot# that particular house is. (In case you want to search and destroy!) Houses have a black banner across the top, community lots have a green banner.

As an example, here are the BonVoyage properties:

Each new Lot Bin House now has...
- A stove, fire alarm, fridge, garbage can, telephone, lights, and if there is a bathtub - at least one bathtub will be doggie accessible.
- Routing has been checked. Everything is accessible to your sims.
- I have added several garages, carports, and driveways. If there is room on the property for a parking space, then the driveway is at least prepped. (Mostly)
- Community lots have food available (grill, food stand, or vending) and bathrooms.
- Most community lots also have an arbor bench, photobooth, or hammock.
- All the lots have ceilings. All walls and floors are covered.
- All lots were cleaned of SimReferences using Chris Hatch's LotCleaner.
- All lots were compressed with Chris Hatch's LotCompressor.

I have included a folder with Before/After pictures of each house detailing everything I changed.
As an example, here is the Before/After pictures for the Basegame European Townhouse:

Also included is a NOTES picture that outlines in writing everything I did to each house:

None of these houses are in Sims2Pack form. There are a couple of ways to install this LotCatalog Project:
>>> FIRST - PLEASE make a back-up of your current LotCatalog before installing this new one. (Move your current LotCatalog folder out of your game and save it somewhere, like on your desktop.)
NOTE: Any other downloaded lots that you have "Installed" but not yet placed in a Neighborhood, will be in your old LotCatalog folder. You may rename them to any number greater than cx_00000063, and put them in the new LotCatalog folder to see them in the Bin again. The Sims2CleanInstaller is a great tool to help sort out your LotCatalog!

>>> To see the new Lot Bin houses next time you're in the game:
Open the "01_DOCUMENTS_LotCatalog" folder and follow the INSTALL instructions in there to install the lots in your current SavedGame. You will have a new Lot Bin the next time you run the game.

>>> To make the new Lot Bin PERMANENT and have it generate with every new game:
Open the "02_PROGFiles_Installation" folder and follow the INSTALL instructions in there to install the lots in your ProgramFiles. You will not see the new Lot Bin until you generate a new SavedGame. And, each time you start a fresh game, these lots will be freshly generated and ready for you to play.

- OR - you can do a combination: Put the LotCatalog into your current SavedGame folder, and install the lots in your ProgramFiles for future games.

Either way you choose to install these lots, back-ups are available and included.
- I have a downloadable DOCUMENTS/LotCatalog back-up file (with the original LotCatalog files) in case you forgot to back-up first!
- Each lot in the PROGFiles install folders has the original lot file backed up with it. (See the "INSTALL_instructionsPF" in that folder to learn more.)

There is NO CC necessary. Not even the CEP files.
However, there are 2 properties that use CC (if you have it in your Downloads folder.)
- One house (IKEA's Attractive Abode) has a treehouse in back that wants Marvine's Ladder. An in-game staircase will be substituted if you don't have it.

- The other house (BV Home) has a swimmable lake that requires an invisible floor. But that can be added later, it is purely a visual effect. The invisible floor I use is included in folder "03_optionalCC" - along with instructions on how to remove the floors edges and make it completely invisible.

- ALSO - if you want large dogs to be able to access the 2-Step Foundation houses (of which, there are 7) you will want to get Simler90's Stair Mods.

A huge Thank You! goes to joandsarah77/joplayingthesims for testing each house! OMG!!!
And to my husband and daughter for proof-reading everything - more than once!
And to Honeywell and tvickiesims for beta-testing the project.

Hmmm... Sometimes that will happen if you have an item hidden from the catalog, and then that item is used in a house.
Those 2 houses don't use any special CC; and they didn't have their lot or grid adjusted (for a 2-step foundation.)
So - I don't know what the problem could be? Please let me know if any of the other houses cause problems for you.
You do have Glamour Life, right? (Or the UC?)

I love how the lots look! i'm having some issues though, i noticed that the occupied lots added by the pets expansion don't show up in-game anymore after replacing the lotcatalog folder with this one, so i placed them again from my backup of it (after renaming them to a number that wasn't already there). When i enter the game they show up in the catalog just fine, but after i place them the preview of the family looks empty when you click on them (from the neighborhood view), as well as the loading screen when entering the lot, and after i enter the lot appears as an empty residential (no sims on it at all). I tried doing the same process with the lotcatalog backup you provided too and it gives me the same results any clues what's going on/how to fix this?

As I said in the OP - I didn't touch either of the Kat or Kim families; because they are occupied lots.
The lots are still there in the LotCatalog folder. They are lots 25 and 28. If you put the new LotCatalog in your Documents folder, just open the folder and remove the Kat/Kim extension from the end of the name.
At this point it may be easiest (and best!) to go get MeetMe/Tarlia's clean version of them (they install from a sim2.package file) - scroll all the way down, the link is right before the comments start. Install them like a regular downloaded lot, and go play! Good luck!

Recently downloaded this and so far I am loving it! However I noticed when I plopped the "Dynasty Dwelling" house down, the two bay windows flashed blue in neighborhood view. When I went into the lot they were fine and weren't flashing. so I returned to neighborhood view but they were flashing again. I went back into the house and changed the color of both bay windows, and returned to neighborhood view and they didn't flash anymore. I followed the install instructions exactly and this is a fresh install of sims 2.

That's weird - but the Dynasty Dwelling is one of the 3 M&G houses that I didn't touch.
I ran them through the cleaner (to get rid of sim references) and the compressor, and gave them new thumbnails... but that's it.
Sometimes with that particular house, I noticed too, that the small round windows "explode"???
Those are all things inherent to that house. Nothing I did.
I'm glad you can use these lots! The whole idea was to make the lot bin more accessible. YAY!

This is fantastic, plopped down some into my neighbourhood and I'm really liking it, especially the community lots because these are what I always use but alas, the vanilla ones are just... not interesting. Just curious, are you going to refresh the apartment lots as well?

Yes... They are "in-the-works" (but just started, so it will be a while...)

Wow, this must've taken some time! Thank you so much for doing this & sharing!! I've never liked the EA-made lots in the bin & never used them. I love the makeover's, however - everything looks sooo much better, judging by the photos! I look forward to seeing them in game.

Hrmmm - I know nothing about Macs (except how to make wallpaper correctly for Mac users!)
These were made with the UC - on both a Windows 10, and an 11, OS.
I will have to ask around, see if any of my Mac using friends have a suggestion for you.
I hope a solution can be found! {crosses fingers!}

Bad news... according to the other Mac users I know. The only way this would be useable for Macs is if I completely redid the whole thing, using AGS, and limited the EP/SPs involved. (Because Macs can't use all EP/SPs, which is what the UC is.)
Sorry! I'm not doing that!
BUT - did you know you can make your rebuilds/maxis-makeovers permanent?
This is basically what I did: Tutorial: How to Make Maxis Rebuilds/Remodels Permanent - so now you can DIY
Good luck!
I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

The lots look great, but unfortunately I'm having an issue with the Cape Cod Classic, one of the 2-step foundation houses. The sims can't use the stairs, so they can't reach the second floor. I downloaded Simler90's straight-stair mod, his modular large dogs fix, and his modular sim run fix, and the issue is still present. Anyone know how to fix this?

The 2nd floor?
Once they get inside the house there should be no difficulties... the only "stair" issue should be getting onto the 2-step foundation.
(I don't think I even touched the inside stairs, I think they are the original Maxis ones.)
Did you get Simler's StairModularPetsFix?
And, do the other 2-Step Foundation houses work?

Thanks for redoing all these lots.

Side note: Thanks for putting trashcans in areas that can prevent Sims from knocking them over. Save me time from doing it myself :)

You are most welcome
I moved them mainly for the overall aesthetics of the thing. IRL the trash cans are not kept out by the road all the time (at least, not in the places I've lived.)
Most of them are still kickable if the sim is really determined, but they have to find it first!

Nice work, really appreciate it! Perfectionist in me is celebrating :D
Speaking of perfectionism. Is it possible to not include some lots in Prog files, so they'll never be generated again? Some of them i hate even after your makeover (they're just irreparable in my mind), i'm sure i will never use them, and it would be neet if they won't clutter my bin.

If you delete my makeover AND either delete or append the original .package (to say .packageOLD - or whatever)... from back in the ProgramFiles, then it shouldn't show up in your game anymore.
I wouldn't delete the original file completely, but that is just me. I'd rename it.
I named these replacement lots in such a way - and wrote in my notes - the names of all the lots, so hopefully you can search and destroy with ease.

13 of these 17 apartments are used in Belladonna Cove - so the original lots are already placed in the game, and several (like 6, maybe?) are inhabited.
...unless you already swapped them out for mine?
Those original lots will still be in your BDC hood, even if you delete the file like I said to do above.
Move the pre-mades out and bulldoze the lots to be rid of them completely.
Good luck!
