This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
I fixed a GUID mistype in one of the BHAVs for the red-headed rock agama. Please redownload. I also attached a new version of the lizards and rodents in the first post. These files are altered so that the pets will not wake Sims sleeping in the same room. I splitted them up into two rar files, because some people reported problems when trying to download large files here on MTS.
If you still have problems, you can download this version from my own server here.

If you're files are getting corrupted when downloading the large file attached to the main post (I guess that's due to the file size), try downloading the pets that won't work separately from Comments.

There's a Addon Pack for the Sims Tracker taking account of my pets available here.

Hi there,

I converted the lizards and rodents which came with the new Sims3 EP for the Sims2. The animals and cages are fully, though not perfectly animated.
Watch this video to have a closer look on the strenghts and weaknesses of the animations:

I attached only a selection of pictures. Further pictures of the cages and animals are in comments. You can also download the animals separately there.

The Pets EP is required.

The set contains...
...7 rodents (5 meshes/2 recolors):

squirrel cage: 1878 polys, same as all other rodent cages. This is the MASTER object* for all pet cages included in this set, so do not delete the file sim2me_eichhoernchenkaefig. Comes in five colours (see attached preview).
*you can download the MASTER files separately in the second comment.
squirrel: 850 polys. The grey one is the mesh, the brown one is rec1 and the dark brown one rec2. (sim2me_eichhoernchen.package)

chinchilla cage + chinchilla: 958 polys. (sim2me_chinchilla(kaefig).package)

hedgehog cage + hedgehog: 776 polys. (sim2me_igal(kaefig).package)

rat cage + rat: 926 polys. (sim2me_ratten(kaefig).package)

chipmunk cage + chipmunk: 906 polys. (sim2me_streifenhoernchen(kaefig).package)

...14 lizards (6 meshes/8 recolors):

red-headed rock agama + cage:
2134 polys for the cage, same as for all other lizard cages. 972 polys for agama. (sim2me_agame(nkaefig).package)

lizard anole + cage: 1044 polys. The green one is the mesh, the brown one the recolor. (sim2me_anole(nkaefig).package)

chameleon + cage: 976 polys. The green one is the mesh, the blue one rec1, orange one rec2 and red one rec3. (sim2me_chameleon(kaefig).package)

iguana + cage: 1054 polys. The green one is the mesh, the light green one rec1 and the orange one rec2. (sim2me_leguan(kaefig).package)

texas spiny + cage: 996 polys. (sim2me_texanischedornechse(nkaefig).package)

toyoko gecko + cage: 992 polys. The blue one is the mesh, the black one rec1 and the yellow one rec2. (sim2me_toyokogecko(kaefig).package)

I cannot do the other pets because the mammal animations would simply not fit, so don't ask me.

Have fun!

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

@ethanmcgregor: Which chamelon do you speek of? I never had this problem.

I have the same problem like Orola. I thought it was by some conflict with tnws chameleon ( but I deleted it and the problem is yet there.

@ethanmcgregor: This is a MTS server problem. Do the same as Orola did: download the files separately from comments or choose a time when the server's not so busy.

@rabbits: There are none in the Sims3, so obviously they're not included here.

@all: Tons of thanks for your nice feedback!!!

These are incredible! I love having more little critter options, the womrat just wasn't enough. Thank you so much for doing TS3 to TS2 conversions, they are the best!

Also would love a snake and a turtle! love them in real life! if you could make that happen it would be great! ohhhh and maybe a tarantula? or furret? ohhh i know this may be a little to much to ask but how about a toad? or bearded dragon?

i know this may not be possible but maybe it would be an idea for you.

if it doesn't happen thats fine but please let me know! i love these!

A huge thanks for you comments.

@wolfiebaby: I explained in the main thread why I could not do turtles or snakes: the womrat animations wouldn't fit them. Moreover and unfortunately, I don't have any time to create at all at the time being.

This is really weird, because I took the screenshot with all petcages in the same household at the same time.
You should really try to redownload them from my own server and see whether the problem persists:

Ok i will try now, i dont know what's going on ether, ill post an update later.

Update: i downloaded that file and added it but it's still doing the same thing, i can only have one pet per house, and then sometimes when i click stock pet it jumps and theres no pet in the cage, i click it again and it comes up stock pet.

i have no idea whats going on

Update 2: I tested it in a house that was inbuilt to the game and they worked fine, but when i tested them again in a house i had built my self i got the above issue again, I don't understand why that would affect it though.

wolfiebaby: I have several pets in one of my self-built houses. My suggestion is that it might not work in the household where you had the broken version installed, because your game somehow "remembers" the broken version. You should try in another self-built household. If they work there, you should try this:
delete all the pet cages in the household that causes problems. Before you next start your game, delete the file Groups.cache in your the Sims2 folder and hope that this will restore the household affected.

Ohhhh ok thanks for the help. But what are the Groups.cache files? and would they be in the download folder?

The Groups.cache file (it's just one) is functions in a similar way as other caches (internet cache for example). It rembembers certain things your game did while you played it.
The file is located in the same folder as your Downloads folder. It will be regenerated when you next start your game so you're completely safe to delete it.
