I have shamelessly stuck Gromit’s skeletons everywhere in this dark medieval castle. The castle sits on a 3x4 lot and costs $138,590. You can see a lot of the details of the castle here: http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e...Gromits%20Keep/.

Instructions:
1. Download this additional file. -- Targa’s Ascension V.2 Elevator, http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=97367. It is so useful where space is at a premium and literalness is easily dispensed with. I’ve used it in the basement and tower (both of which are just for show) -- where I’m sure some sort of magical access would be expected.

2. Download the two .rar files on this thread into your download folder. Extract the files to your download folder. The extracted files will consist of two folders of custom content (cc) and a packaged lot file. You do not need to do anything else to the cc folders -- they are ready to go. Extract the lot file in the usual manner, sending it to teleport. You are now ready to go.

Some notes about the images: Yes, just as you expected, the moon backgrounds have been photoshopped in. The colored spot lights you see in many of the album shots are from JGWhiteus, http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=92373. They are not in the lot as packaged. Think of them as having been added by the photographer for more drama and interest in the images. I did not put them in the lot because first and foremost, I hate my sims tripping over the darn spotlights! Plus, they really are not in keeping with the medieval ambiance. The colored spot lights are a lot of fun to play with, and I do highly recommend them for photographic interest.

I’ve decided to justify my personal download addiction by proclaiming myself to be a connoisseur of sim objects and architecture. I download, inspect and evaluate so that I can provide only the very finest and best in my houses. I am always so amazed and thrilled with how willing these top notch creative artists are to allow me to share their creations in my lots. It says something very nice about the simming population in general, and very specifically about the following generous sim people:

Chi Sa Go, http://www.alceleniel.de/diesims2/index_eng.php. It was the medieval things that Annette has on her site that really convinced me that my next house needed to be a castle. I was so thrilled when she said yes to sharing.
Tarox, http://www.tarox4sims2.de/, Conny is always the rock that all my medieval homes are built on. The quality, selection and uniqueness are unsurpassed. I just wish I would have seen the new bathroom set before I packaged this lot. She also has a nice selection of comfy, real life homey furnishings.
Gromit, http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=45505, put the spooky in the castle. His creations -- gargoyles, skeletons, tombs and suits of armor give this the right seasonal, ancient atmosphere. It seemed only appropriate that I name it for him.
Sterling Sims, http://www.sterlingsims2.com/skyes_web_5.htm, has some of the absolute finest dark castley walls I’ve ever seen. There are many fine artists (and many fine selections) at Sterling Sims2, but Skye deserves special mention. It was her beautifully detailed walls that moved this out of the ’just a castle’ into something really special and spooky. I just love spooky that isn’t bloody and gory. You will also find some of Sterlings unique terrains and matching floors in this lot.
Komosims, http://www.komosims.net/, and her fellow creators, VonNdaSun and SimLin55 have just about used up all the superlatives in my vocabulary. The walls, floors, and terrains from Komosims is the first file I put in my download folder when ever I start a new lot -- can’t build without the fine beauty and variety these wonderful ladies have made.
McTrick’s Place, http://www.mctricksplace.com/, the finest in dark and spooky recolor, floors, walls and fences. I just love that grimacing face fence! In addition to spooky, she has a nice selection of creations that fit nicely in older or more rustic settings.
Parsimonious, http://www.parsimonious.org/, has everything -- walls, floors, plants, recolor, new objects -- you name the category, and they have it -- plus an extremely generous lot upload policy. Everything is perfectly made and delightfully unique.
Mia86, http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=200106 has made many medieval themed things -fences, walls, floors, terrains, roofs, etc. -- but perhaps her most unique are the large gate pieces you see on the front of this castle. I just love how grandiose and ancient they look!
MacaRossi, http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=44745, I don’t think any of her cheery posies or marvelous windows & doors made it into this lot, but you can be sure there will always be something… and that something almost always includes her roof edgings (as is the case in this lot).

Please respect these fine creators. Do NOT upload this lot anywhere.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

I was about to create a castle for my vampire sims, but it never turns out just right.

Either because I'm a perfectionist, or because I'm awkward at making buildings.

Your castle is beautiful! I'm definitely installing this to my game!

Taroo --

Thank you for allowing me to use the beautiful creations you have at Tarox. They are just so perfect for a real, from the past, type castles. Seems like everytime I build things these days, half the file names have 'taroo' in them!

I am having problems with this keep. I have DL it twice to make sure I didnt miss anything, but it seem now looking at yourpic I am missing quite a bit. I dont have the wall around the stairs on thehill, and maybe my game se t the roofs too high by default, but mine are really high. I also seem to bemissing the roof edging things. I went and DL the eleveator but i still got regular stairs stickng outside of the tower.

For now I used the new elevaters which are big.... any ideas what I did wrong?

As to the stair vs elevator problem ... You need to have the elevator in your downloads folder prior to opening the lot for the very first time. The best thing to do at this point is to delete the lot from the neighborhood and then replace it. It should read the elevator and put it in correctly. (Those stairs sticking out sure look weird & are useless, aren't they? Need I say more than -- been there, done that.)

I'm not sure what might be the other problem. All of those are fences. If for some reason the cc fences didn't make it to the download folder, you should have seen the black wrought iron default fence subbed in. I've never heard of fences just disappearing.

I will completely delete the house and then reinstall it in the downloads folder. If it still doesnt work Ill let you know....only thing that sucks though is that i have made a few small decorating changes-lol. If your curious Ill take a screenshot of whatI have now. I also went to photobucket to see the detailed pics and noticed at least one more fence and something else I dont have either.

I would be interested in the pics. I build the lots I do to play. I really like that others play them.... and I love to shamelessly steal decor ideas from others.

Nothing fancy in the decor changes, just used the black and red goth 4 poster bed in the master bedroom, and used the medieval toilet and black recolor of the tub you had in there. Oh and made a stairway down to the celler/dungeon. Ill go take a few quick pics now, as I have been so busy DL new stuff I havent even gone it to delete the house yet-LOL

******************************************************
OK well I thought I had this worked out, but I guess I didn't. Let me first start by showing you the tweaked version I redid to make it livable.

So instead of just trashing the one already in the downloads folder seeing as I had the CC stuff all put in now, I just decided to try and place it on a different lot. Figureing it would search for the items and now find them all, and everytrhing would be fine. Well, when I placed it in the neighboorhodd it looked perfect! But as soon as I entered the lot to go redo some of my decor changes....it was back to misbehaving.

So should I just go ahead and delet the package from the DL folder and install again? It doesnt seem this is what the problem is. Only that it's not finding some of the things. I didn't even think to check the EXP needed, though I do have them all.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

I think this lot will be perfect to put in my new vampires vs. vampire hunters neighborhood. It's so scary!

no, sorry. I'd rather build something new than try to copy something old. With the exception of McTrick, all of the creators used in this are still alive, well and active. You can go to their sites and download tons of great CC.

I don't remember. I typically put them on the front porch or very close to it. Visitors seem to go to the door closest to the mail box, so if I move it, it is usually near the front door.
