Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
This lot required World Adventures EP.

This Chinese courtyard house is also known as Beijing's Siheyuan. The siheyuan is a typical form of ancient Chinese architecture, especially in the north of China. They are designed to make it as comfortable as possible to live in a climate that is at times inhospitable. For instance, the siheyuan are enclosed and inward facing to protect them from the harsh winter winds and the dust storms of spring.

Their design also reflects the traditions of China, following the rules of feng shui and the patriarchal, Confucian tenants of order and heirarchy that were so important to society. However, this house is modified by me for sims living.

The main gate to the front courtyard is usually at the southeastern corner. Main courtyard is the center of the siheyuan, serving for passage and providing good light, ventilation and cool shades. People would like to take a rest here. Before each house is a corridor serving as a shelter from wind or rain. The various parts of the house are connected by corridors.

This house includes 2 courtyards, living, dining, kitchen, 3BR and 2BA.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
2. Select the .sims3pack file you got from extracting.
3. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.

6. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the lot to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
7. Run the game, and find your lot in Edit Town, in the premade lots bin.

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

Very pretty indeed, and largely ergonomic to boot! My thanks for this house, I love the theme. It will work well with my martial artist sim's lifestyle.

I'm all reinstalled and updated after my partner took pity on me and my state of heightened frustration with the game. Ha!

I'm going to give this dwelling another go. Sooo beautiful. Wish me luck.

As said already many times, beautiful. The hard work and dedication really show, you have gone to great lengths with the detailing, including the description . I would love to build one of these in real life Can't wait to see it in game. Thank you.

This lot is so beautiful I couldn't resist to download it. I only can imagine how many hours you must have spent on this. I already have the perfect family to buy it. But I don't know wether I'm blind or what, but I can't find any 4x4 lots at Shang Simla. Could you please tell me where exactly have you tested it?

I placed this lot on 220 South Shang Simla Hills. It's between the Land of the Ancestors (40 West Ancestor Hills) and Hong Family (100 South Shang Simla Hills). If it's a commercial lot (I can't remember), just bulldoze it and change it to residential. Hope this helps!

I absolutely love this, soo beautiful. Unfortunately it keeps telling me it wants an update. No way, since we all know, what a catastrophic virus this is, that EA put on us. Is there a way to install it without this not working update - how can you play with that!?

I'm sorry that you have to update your game before you install it.

It still works and the stuff you don't have will be replaced by some others automatically. You may change them as you like.

Hey I'm Chinese and your house looks quite authentic looking to me! =)

Though the bed looks quite western hehe. I downloaded a really cool looking Chinese bed out there.. hmm it's probably for Sims 2.

Nice job again!

You should reupload this and list it into the World Adventures section where it belongs, cuz it's showing up as a base-game-only download.

Quick question? Will this house work with all it's furniture in it or do I need to download all the other stuff from the EA Store?

You need to get the stuff from EA Store, otherwise they would be replaced by the base game stuff.

I think this looks just beautiful! Alas there are no available 40x40 lots in Shang Simla to place it. The only empty lots are 3 30x20, a 30x40, a 20x20, and a 12x12. The only 40x40 lots are The Thyme House which is on a hill and creates a sunken effect around the edges of the lot, and The Peach Blossom House which is occupied by townies and is already a beautiful home to look at (at least on the outside.) I've found a way to make it fit into a 30x40 lot but having to do it by scratch since velocitygrass is resulting in unroutable terrain so it's taking me a while in redrawing it and constantly rechecking textures.
