This makes it so that the base game tabletop TVs and small audio devices can be placed on side tables (not sure whether they go on fireplaces and dressers by default, but they now do that too). Kaboom Box, Grammyfone and InstaVision ( = the small flatscreen TV) will also go on shelves.

Because why wouldn't they?

Update 2014-12-16: Files updated for 1.3.18.1010. The "feetprint" package is not necessary any more now (only the other ones are) – you can use the bb.moveobjects cheat from now on to place the stuff that won't place otherwise. When re-downloading note the package has a new filename now (with version number) so make sure you delete the old one.

Update 2014-11-02: Added the Sea Captain's clock, it now also goes on shelves (separate .zip below).

Note to builders (2015-01-25): From what FakeHouses|RealAwesome posted here, downloaders still need this mod when you have used it for decorating a lot you upload, otherwise stuff on shelves will disappear. Maybe this will be fixed in some future patch (apparently just using bb.moveobjects has the same issue under some circumstances), we’ll see.

There are two packages attached below:

1. Placement:

This (electronics_basegame_placement.package) makes it so that the following devices will go on more surfaces:

Audio:
– Kaboom Box
– GrammyFone
– MiniBlaster

TV:
– Penguin Vision
– Been There Watched That
– Trusty Companion
– InstaVision
– InvisiView Tabletop
– GeniusVision Tabletop

The large TVs will only go on dressers off-center (which looks rather odd) since the slots on those are different from side tables. They look fine on side tables though (can't have one without the other).

2. Feetprint: -- obsolete

Compatibility:

Updated for 1.3.18.1010, see above.
Checked for differences in 1.2.16.10, the only change I can see is four new UNKS that are all 0 so should work fine.

The TV tops are just so unattractive, and at times I'm simply on a low budget. And I generally love crammed little rooms and houses, so minimum furniture is preferable. Thanks!!

So I have no idea what I did wrong but after I installed this I lost all the smaller tv's that don't go on the wall. I can't even buy then since they don't show up as an option in buy mode either. Any idea how I can fix this to get them back? I tried just deleting the mod but that didn't do anything. Oh! Or do you know if/where I can just download the tv's as new objects?

If deleting this mod doesn't change anything, you have a problem that isn't related to it. All this does is override a placement option of these objects when it is in your mods folder, there are no persistent changes made to your catalogue or save games.

I don't know what's wrong, but this mod, and also the "clutter anywhere"-mod won't work for me. I've unpacked it and put it in the mod folder. It is shown when I launch the game but I can't put electronics or other stuff on the shelves, except the one who could be placed on shelves anyway.
I'm playing with the actual version of the game and ther's no diffrence if the "moveobjects"-cheat is enabled or not. So any other ideas what to do?

Since you say "moveobjects" (not bb.moveobjects): are you referring to the Maxis cheat or to a mod?

I was looking for this exact mod. I couldn't figure out why the game had a side table that said in the description that it was specifically for TV's but would not hold any model even the small ones. Love that you correct what EAxis did not.

Does this work for Computers too? I want to sell them in my store but multiples can't be placed on one surface. Thanks for making this!

Please see the lists in the upload description for exactly which objects this modifies. That's what I write them for.

Also, from what I heard, store shelves have different types of slots than regular ones (they seem to differentiate by type of object too, not just weight/size), so not sure whether the kind of flag edit I'm doing here is relevant for that at all.

Same as with your other post: "not working" in what sense? Please elaborate.

I'm sorry, just now getting this. Electronics just aren't placeable any more, mostly cc items, but some EA items as well, that I'd placed on surfaces before the patch. I I've tried with moo and if it does place the next time the lot loads it will be in household inventory. In particular I use the emptied shelves a lot for decorating because it saves space, but stereos will not place, and the sideboards that game w/ GTW is another item that I use to place smaller tvs and clutter, now no electronics and all but the smallest clutter will not place.

I hope that's elaborate enough.

This sounds like game behaviour has changed with that patch, which is of course entirely possible. Now how is it different between having this mod in game and not? You don't mention that.

Also this mod does not affect any CC items, so whichever problems you have with those, they are unrelated.

Since you say you're "tried with moo" that sounds like you are using the Cheat Shortcuts mod .. have you made sure script mods are still activated? Patches seem to have a habit of turning off that option for some people. Your issues could be because you aren't actually using bb.moveobjects.
