Custom Content management for The Sims 3 has become a challenge. There are literally multiple gigabytes of custom content available for the game. This introduces a couple of issues to the game that plague players.
  • Game Lag : When you have more than about 200 custom content files, the game begins to slow down noticeably. This is a limitation of the way modern computer operating systems work, not an issue with the game itself.
  • Organization : What do you do if you decide you don’t want a particular custom object anymore? How do you find it? What if you just want to disable it temporarily while testing another similar object? With thousands of CC files, it can be very difficult to track down any specific CC item.

CC Magic is a way to conquer both of these issues. CC Magic allows you to organize your custom content into a hierarchy of “sets” much like file folders, thereby allowing you to find and manage your CC however you wish. Unlike using file folders to manage your package files, CC Magic knows what those files contain and can show you information from the packages to help identify them. For example, for most items it can show you a thumbnail of the item as well as a name and description.

Once you use CC Magic to organize your content files into sets, it goes one step further by eliminating the large file count lag issue. Each set you create is consolidated into a single package file (or a very few files, each file is limited to 1GB by operating system requirements), no matter how many individual packages you may have installed in the set.

In addition to these core features, there are also features such as collection support for those with patch 1.26 or later (or Pets EP), and a configuration tool that allows you to keep multiple configurations of sets and activate them with a simple drop down menu.

Supported File Types
  • Sims3Pack files can be processed as long as the are not Sims Store (encrypted) files
  • Package files can be processed
  • sim files (saved sims) can be partially processed (the are always installed)
  • world files cannot be processed and must still be installed using the EA Launcher
  • lot files (both empty and inhabited] can be partially processed (the are always installed)

Note:
* Patterns created by the EA Create A Pattern tool should be installed with the EA Launcher. A future update to CC Magic will resolve this issue.

Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).


Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

Okay, so I installed The Sims3pack Multi-Installer and converted my .sims3pack content into .package files. They're all sorted into their own subfolder.

My question is: Can I merge those folders into 1 package file instead of having them in their own little seperate file and then drag them to The Sims 3 packages folder?

Say if I have 10 .package files of hairstyles, but instead of having a whole list of them in a folder, I wanted to merge all those files into 1. Can I do it and unmerge later? If I can't unmerge, do I repeat the same process as before?

Hey! So I've recently gotten a new computer and finally set CC Magic up a week ago!

Due to my hard drive (c) being small I've done a hardlink of my documents to my secondary drive (s). I'm noticing cc that is in cc magic is now not showing up in game since I've done the hardlink. I've uninstalled CC Magic and am reinstalling to fix the issue. BUT if it doesn't work, I want to understand how I can get CC Magic to work with the new game destination?

After Downloading CC Magic. The Automatic Downloaded file set-up, I've came across an Issue. Open CC magic and hitting play through cc magic it closes as if it's trying to run the launcher itself but Sims 3 launcher doesn't respond by any means. Can someone please help me solve this problem. I've checked all possible issues

Can anybody possibly explain to me why only some of the thumbnails are not showing up for clothes? All of my CC are .package files. I just want to be able to go through and delete specific pieces of clothing that I don't want in CAS & this seems like the right program to be able to go through your CC & see what you have. But without all of the thumbnails it makes it slightly more difficult. Somebody help?

Does anyone know what causes your Default folder to be empty? CCMagic just won't load any of my cc... I've followed all the tutorials, but no matter whether I put .package or .sim3pack files into the download folder, none of them show! It seems like CCMAgic won't recognize any of them

Okay so, if I put my package folders into ccmagic/content/packages folder, it shows up in CCMagic but when I press rebuild nothing happens. No cache folder is created or anything. I don't know what I did to fuck up this programm so much but if anyone knows what I did please - help?

I have this 1 massive problem with CC Magic & I have no idea how to fix it.
The game keeps bringing back deleted CAS Parts. If I delete CC Magic & launch the game, everything works fine. If I install CC Magic, it's back. The CAS Part won't show on the CC Magic list either.

Doesn't work. Setting a path to the game launcher crashes the program and when you click help it links you to some scam website. Epic.

Even though this is a veeeery old thread, I still hope for someone to help me.

I have the very same problem with CC Magic as described by Flowen.

Could someone please explain steps 1-4 (okay, 3 and 4 ) further to me, I am not quite sure how to proceed to make this work in the German version.

Hi I would love to use cc magic but it keeps both the merged package files and the original unmerged package files on the same hard drive which takes up space. Is there a way I can keep them separated on different hard drives? Please reply

I finally managed how to make this work out on Windows 10, so I'm sharing what I discovered.

You only need to install .NET Framework 4.8 Developer Pack Offline and it wouldn't crash anymore.

I wasn't able to download .Net 4 framework either, but i was able to download .NET Framework 4.8 Developer Pack Offline thanks to your link above. Is this all I need to run cc magic, then? (I already have a 2017 version of C++ installed on my pc.) I don't want to mess up my computer again! I used cc magic last week without any .net 4 framework at all, and something went wrong, and I had to totally reinstall my Sims game. (I don't have that much cc yet, so it wasn't a giant deal to reinstall it, but I should get it right before I mess something up again.)
