Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Nightlife and OfB required.
Custom content required: Invisible Driveway by roddyaleixo
Custom content included: Balustrade Stairs by Brasstex

If you want to install the stairs properly, please follow the directions given in the thread linked above. This lot will work just fine if you don't, but you won't be able to select or change the stairs or use them in other lots (they won't show up in the catalogue, which is what the installation procedure is for).

Description:
For sims that are sick of living in the suburbs, Backdoor Lane provides an alternative: a couple of small town lots with a more urban look and feel. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, creating a maze of backyard gardens and interconnected alleyways when placed in a tightly spaced neigbourhood. Most of them work as corner lots as well as facing the street, creating a very different impression depending on how you place them and what's on the lot next door.

Backdoor Lane 37
Three tiny row houses for up to 3 sims each (or maybe 4 if you really squeeze them), with a small garden and a driveway behind each house. Two of the houses are furnished, the third one is empty except for bathroom/kitchen/alarms+phone (i.e. like a real-world empty house). Again, these houses are TINY and won't work for raising more than one kid or hamstering skill objects, but they're excellent to stuff some neglected single sims into.

Each house has:
1 x double bedroom (walkthrough)
1 x single bedroom/study
2 x bathroom
1 x kitchen/dining/living

The house in the middle also has a basement, accessible through the downstairs bathroom. Three driveways and two cars included; I think I forgot to put burglar alarms in the middle + left house (as seen from the street).

If you've questions on how to play multi-household lots, please check out Backdoor Lane 10.

Thank you:
This collection (frillen) as well as this one (loba) and that one (windkeeper), the mini lots by Andi8104 and the ones based thereupon (MaryLou) have been very useful in making the Backdoor Lane neighbourhood. Thanks for making them available, as well as for the driveway and stairs. Extra thanks to Numenor for the BaseGameStarter, without which Seasons-less people wouldn't be able to use this lot.

Please don't PM me with neighbourhood terrain requests (look in the Neighbourhoods section instead), downloading issues (I can't help you -- look in Site Issues, Q-XPress forums etc), or Build Mode questions (general questions go here, lot specific questions in the d/l thread). Thanks.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

I Love this house. Thanks for Sharing. But I don't think the Parent Sims won't appreciate not getting alone time, with their kid having to walk through their room hehe great homes.

Well that's Nature's way of making sure there won't be any more kids when there's not enough room for them =P

Ok, you have probably gone over this, but I have fallen in love with the idea of the dense city and row house, the fact that you say they go together like a puzzle. I was thinking how I could do it myself just yesterday, happening upon your set today with the same idea seemed like fate. I'd love to do the 'puzzle', but really want to put it together they way it was intended, if there is such a way. Would you be willing to upload the neighborhood you are building them in, or atleast a screenshot? I know there is no 'wrong' way of putting them together, but you make it sound like you have a densely pack city with no square of space going undeveloped, and I'd very much like that.

No, there isn't =)

Maybe the expression "jigsaw puzzle" in my blurb is a bit misleading, I didn't mean to imply it's something that has a solution or one best way. The lots are meant to fit together any way you place them, they're a modular system of sorts, standard grid and all. All you need is a densely spaced hood terrain with blocks no larger than 5 by X (before you ask: I don't do terrains, please peruse the Neighbourhoods section), preferrably with concrete terrain, and a bit of time to play around.

Have fun!

I downloaded a terrain from here that works quite well for Backdoor Lane. I think it's called triple-U.....or U something.

Anyway, Great lot!
