"Viper Canyon Dream House"
by Rich Maximillion

This collection is the first in an ongoing series of Base Game Only, No Custom Content homes by StephSim's Designers Inc.. Basically, you can download 4 homes for the price of one. What? Glad you asked.

The Viper Canyon "Dream House" has 4 versions. There is a STARTER version house, a RENOVATED version of the house, a FAMILY version of the house and a LUXURY version of the house. Basically, this is a 3 x 2 lot with the same house that has been redecorated and updated to fit a Simmer as they go through life. The Starter home is for a single Sim, an expectant single Sim, 2 single Sims, a couple just starting out without kids or a couple with a baby on the way. The Renovated home is a better decorated version of the original house. The baby room is fully decorated, but can be easily changed out to fit your Sims needs. The Family home is for a couple with 2 children. A second level has been added to the house, an outdoor pool and too many other upgrades to list! The Luxury home has been renovated from the Family version into a 2 bedroom luxury home with all the possible amenities a Sim could dream of having. So if you are looking for a desert oasis that grows with your Sims (as they move from First Time Home Buyers to transforming their home into the perfect Retirement space), look no further!

The houses were built on the same land (3 x 2 lot) so upgrading will be easy. Each lot is furnished to meet the needs of the families as they make more money. Each lot is a step above the next with things like toilets, counters and beds being updated to the more expensive versions.

We didn't want to spoil your experience in this article by sharing images of the houses. So...we suggest you attend the upcoming OPEN HOUSE!

(as posted on the Simsville Community Board and a tree near you)

Viper Canyon is a desert community in the heart of Simsville!

THIS JUST IN. LOOKS LIKE OUR BELOVED "BLOSSOM" HAS BEEN TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HER POSITION and has been caught having sleepovers at the houses she is supposed to be selling!"

Shocked Viewer:
"Oh My GOD! Can you believe the nerve of some people. How dare she slip into a bed that doesn't belong to her. What is this world coming to?"

Sympathizing Viewer:
"Whatever floats your boat honey! If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad, Eh? That canopy styled bed is a bit tempting. I say do what works for you. But next time, be sure to turn the camera off doll!"

Inspiration for the Dream House Collection
I have been drowning in "medieval madness" with my Gwrych Project. I wanted to build a few medieval lots for EVERYONE using fewer EPs. While testing the BASE GAME ONLY Any Game Starter setup, I decided to build a lot using Base Game only just to see what it was like to build in memory lane. Initially, I found myself baffled at the lot building limits and flaws with Base Game. Then, I warmed up to using Base Game only and decided to build a small set of lots that grew with your Simmies. Basically, I wanted to free Simmers from having to find a house to fit the Sim families they already have that are move in ready. I also wanted to give Simmers something to look forward to as their Simmies earned more money and moved up in the world. Basically, your Simmies can purchase the Starter house right away and begin saving. Once they have 50,000 Simoleons saved up, you can basically place the Renovated lot in the neighborhood (or in the same spot even) and move your Simmies in without having to decorate. Then your Simmies can aspire for the FAMILY HOME and finally the LUXURY HOME. I hope "someone" out there finds this concept practical.

I also created these lots to meet the needs of a current Sim family you may already have. So, basically, download the lot that fits your Sim needs. Basically, give your Simmies the house of their dreams!

There will be a Dream House Collection set of homes for each Sims 2 neighborhood available in Base Game (Any Game Starter). Please keep in mind that this collection is something I do to break the monotony of larger projects.

The next set from this collection will be "VERONAVILLE" Dream Home Collection!

There is a small 2 tile space in the kitchen of the FAMILY lot and a room at the top of the Stairs in the LUXURY lot meant for a washer and dryer. Here are a couple of suggested downloads to fit into those spaces to bring your Sim laundry space to life!

These lots were created using the latest version of Any Game Starter by Numenor found HERE.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

That's a really neat idea; I love the way you expanded the houses.

What a cool concept! I play strictly medieval now, but if I was still playing modern lots I would be all over this.

Brilliant idea and wonderful decorating, I especially like the faux-canopy bed.

Awesome idea! :-) I only downloaded the starter home as I only like to play single storey houses, but the others look cool too! :-D

Thanks everyone!

Thanks. It was all in good fun and to do something a little different for a bit. Expanding the lots reminded me of doing a "beauty makeover". It was interesting because I had to literally think about how the needs of a family changed through time. Many things get better with age when you take care of them I guess.

You're welcomed. The presentation was a bit fun! As I was testing the lots with Blossom Newsworthy, I giggled at the thought of a news icon rambling through dream houses when no one was looking! B.N. has the ultimate job! She is ALWAYS on vacation!

Thanks. Yeah, my main neighborhood is medieval but I created a separate Windows user log-in just for building.

The faux canopy bed! That was a wonderful little addition. I had to rearrange my original room design to make it work properly. In the end, that room is one of my favorite of all the bedrooms in the collection. Blossom definitely agrees as you can see.

Thanks Chica. I like something about each lot as well. In the Starter, I love that you can actually afford the house and move into it. I also like the idea that it is a blank canvas. In the Renovated House, I love the feeling of the small space and the simplicity of the decorations. In the Family House, I love the kitchen. There is just something about it that makes me want to live in it all the time! The Luxury house is like a vacation dream house to me. It has everything that adults without worries need. I hope they can afford it!

The exclusive is innocent fun!

Thank you very much.

Yeah. I go through phases myself. For me, I found that it is not about whether it is 1 or 2 story, but more about size and functionality of layout for Simming. For me the Family and Luxury layout are as big as I like to go. By building on a 3 x 2 limits how far your Simmies have to travel to do things. But I know that even a 3 x 2 lot can be time consuming for some. On larger lots, I tend to make each floor functional for all needs (eat, sleep, activities). However, with the Viper Canyon set I made upstairs for sleeping and downstairs for activities!

BTW - You may want to grab the Renovated Lot as well. It is also single story...just an upgrade from the Starter.

You are welcome! Enjoy the downloads.

Even without CC and with base game only you are still an incredible creator, i think you should do more no CC and EP lots, they're wonderful and they can be used by so many!

It's ok, we all laugh-snort occasionally!

DD - Thanks! More NO CC and EP lots? I will defintiely build more. For now they will be built between me finishing up the Gwrych Project.

The next set will be called "Vernonaville Dream House Collection". It will be built when the mood for "modern" pulls me away from Medieval.

We shall see how Veronaville will inspire me!

Staci - You are most welcomed! Have FUN with the lots!

This is brilliant! I might actually start a legacy, because I won't have to muddle through trying to build a house. Although the actual nightmare in my game is the expanding and trying to make the new parts fit with the old base. Not to mention the mess I make with the roof. ay yi yi.
I did look at the starter and the renovation in game and I hope to throw a Sim or two in there soon (they are still in college). It looks extremely playable and has everything a body needs.
Thank you! I look forward to more of these.

Thanks jylla.

Funny thing is that I don't always build in the same pattern. For this project, I actually started with the Family House and then upgraded it to Luxury and then stripped it down completely to get the Starter and upgraded that to the Renovated house. For the Veronaville Dream Houses, I shall build from smallest to largest to see how it goes.

This is a great idea - I love it! Now my sim's house can grow with her family (and I don't have to worry about redecorating/adding new rooms!) I also like the fact that you didn't use any CC or SPs/EPs. I already have too much cc as it is, and I don't have all the EPs/SPs installed, so I'm always happy to find base-game only houses!

I reject your reality and substitute my own.
