Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.

The events that got Harvey discharged from the force and into the tough alleys of freelance sleuthing, just a few years ago, are a subject he'd rather not talk about (though, if someone was to talk about it, the phrase "loose cannon" would be brought a lot). Then again, most things are subjects he'd rather not talk about. In his line of work, being tight-lipped is considered an asset. Whatever the case may be, he's ready to move to a new town to start on a clean slate. In the past, his career didn't leave much space for any kind of social life, as he always considered himself to be married to the job. But, who knows, maybe things will be different this time around...

I made Harvey for a sim creation challenge over at GoS. I also wanted a Sim to try out the Investigator profession with. I'm pretty satisfied with how he turned out!

His beard and his Everyday top are from Late Night, and his Formal hat and outfit (plus his Perceptive trait and his Pervasive Private Eye lifetime wish) are from Ambitions. Needless to say, if you don't have those EPs these items won't show up. Other than that, though, he should be basegame compatible.

CC LIST:

SLIDERS:

As with other sims uploaded on MTS, Harvey is packaged with basegame skin. To make him look like in the pics, you'll have to download his skin (link provided in the CC list) separately, and apply it manually in the CAS screen. It should be easy to identify from the drop-down menu since, when selected, "ESKIN NV1" can be read in the skintone slider - which should be moved to the "N" in "NV1" to give him the same tone he has in the pictures.

This is my first upload, so feedback, criticism, bug reports, corrections and whatnot are more than welcome!

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the sim to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
2. Select the .sim file you got from extracting.
3. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game, enter Create-a-Sim, and save a sim to the sim bin to create this folder, rather than doing so manually. After that you can close the game and put the .sim file in SavedSims
4. Once the .sim file is in SavedSims, you can load the game, and look for your sim in the premade sims bin in Create-a-Sim.

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

Thanks to everyone for your comments
@Floraflora2: Be sure to try the challenges, they're fun!
@Dobriel: I'm not sure if you mean older than the average sim or from the Elder age group, but just to make sure, he's Adult, not Elder. It's almost impossible to make a cool-looking Elder sim, mostly because of those bean bag heads and potato bodies EA'd riddled them with. :I
Thanks though!

I like the hump in the nose, like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast!! I made a Sim for TS2 and TS3, that has this prominent bump in his nose!! I think it makes men really hot!! I am a PhD scholar and Eppendorf had a Product Catalog in 2009 that featured a man with a nose like that.. And I secretly ripped the cover and it is in my cupboard.. :P

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.

This guy is going straight into my game. This guy looks like a real guy, as opposed to so many sims who look like models. I was just joking recently that nobody ever uses the thinning hairstyle because it's not glamorous enough. Harvey not only has that hair but he pulls it off with style. Bravo!

You did a fantastic job. The PI is very realistic and detailed, I could easily imgine him going toe-to-toe with The Altos. I absolutely love the office, and hate to ask, but where did you get/findit all? or better still, make?

Came back to say congrats on the star! And also to say that I put him in my game without any of the cc or custom sliders you listed (except the cigarette accessory, which I already had), and he still looks really good and unique. To me, that's the sign of a well-made sim.

(The main difference was that without the cc he came through wearing bright purple eyeshadow, ha ha, which didn't really fit his style! But that was easily fixed!)

Thanks for the picked upload, guys!
@echoweaver: Thanks! That's what I try go go for, sims that look "interesting" rather than "pretty".
@Amalgam81: I would consider uploading the office, but I'm afraid that: It's not an actual residence as much as a stage set, so it wouldn't be of much use to most players, and the amount of CC furniture, decoration, clutter, building items, etc. I've managed to cram into it is just too large for listing down or including in a MTS upload. However, if you want to know about a particular item that shows up in the pictures, just ask!
@EsmeraldaF: Thanks! My game gets a bit buggy at times, so I couldn't get to test him out without any CC or EPs, I'm glad to know he doesn't show up all wonky without it (except for the purple eyeshadow, but well, that's his deal)

Hi!
Just thought I'd let you know that your wonderful Mr Boyle has a leading role in my next SIFF entry machinima.
He's been through a bit since you last saw poor Harvey.
Here he is after a trip to hair and make up, ready to take on the role of Doogan (diry LAPD cop, 1947)
