[B]Note:I've updated the mod for the latest patch of April 21st, 2016(Version 1.17.7.1020 / Mac Version 1.17.7.1220).It is base game compatible.I've also added a second mod, which makes the add trait option available for the normal menu.It should make using the debug cheat mods unnecessary. It's still in testing mode, though, so there may be bugs.

One of the things that disappointed me when I found about the Sims 4 traits was that even adults could only have three main traits (not counting reward traits).I thought this was a bit unrealistic as actual adults have many more than three main traits. Also, at this stage you can only add reward traits to a sim, not main ones. So, I looked around in the extracted XML files and found a traits.traits xml that modifies the amount of slots available for each age. I’m not sure if this is something anyone is interested in, but just in case I have made it available.

This mod works by using the testing/debug cheats to add traits to a sim.

Add Trait to Sim
traits.equip_trait <traitnameNoSpaces>
Example: traits.equip_trait SteelBladder

**Remove Trait from Sim
traits.remove_trait <traitnameNoSpaces>
Example: traits.remove_trait SteelBladder

What makes it different is that it expands the number of main traits(Good, evil, bookworm, neat) available to be added to a sim. Without using the add sims trait cheat this mod will not work.
Note: I am a very beginning modder and this is a simple XML mod, so if you encounter any problems, I will try to help but my knowledge is very limited.

Requirements:

I have made a secondary mod that allows the add/remove trait option to be seen in the regular menu,
without using cheats. It is called Add Traits In Regular Menu Mod and can be found with the main Add CAS Traits mod
versions. However, it is still in testing mode, so there may be bugs.I would appreciate anyone letting me know if this happens.
You can still, though, use the below testing/debug cheats if you prefer.

1-[Script Mod] enable advanced debug/cheat interactions by clown
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=532735

Persistent TestingCheats - Cheats Always Enabled!
by TwistedMexi
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=535757

They enable debug/testing cheats automatically without you having to type in the entire add trait cheat code. But if you’d prefer not to have this option, the mod should work anyway. However, it is much harder to use the mod by manually typing in the cheat code because Maxis has different names for some traits.

To use these automatically enabled debug cheats you must shift left click on a sim, then select cheat sim info, add traits.

What the mod does: It edits the specified amount of slots for each age group except babies. Babies have not been edited because even though theoretically it’s possible to give them traits, there is no way to implement them in the game.

Depending on your personal preferences you may want less or more, so I have included 11 versions:

Version 1-2 for child, 4 for teen, 5 for YA/Adult/Elder
Version 2- 3 for child, 5 for teen, 6 for YA/Adult/Elder
Version 3- 4 for child, 6 for teen,7 for YA/Adult/Elder
Version 4- 5 for child, 7 for teen,8 for YA/Adult/Elder
Version 5- 7 for child, 9 for Teen, 10 for YA/Adult/Elder
Version 6- 2 for child, 3 for teen, 4 for YA, 5 for adult, 6 for elder.
Version 7- 3 for child, 4 for teen, 5 for YA, six for adult, seven for elder.
Version 8- 10 for child, 13 for teen, 15 for YA/Adult/Elder
Version 9- 15 for child, 17 for teen, 20 for YA/Adult/Elder

I have added two more versions:

Version 10- 25 for child, 35 for teen, 50 for YA/Adult/Elder-In anticipation of more custom traits being made because of the talented Zerbu's
trait maker.

Version 11- 100 Traits allowed for for sims of all ages.-I made this in case anyone wanted the amount of traits to be unlimited, not because I
think anyone will actually need anything close to that for a sim(Even if there were that many).

WARNING: Having 20 or more traits in a sim will slow down save and loading time for a household.

Do not install more than one version at a time because these versions would conflict
with one another as they edit the same xml file.

How it works-You can not add more traits via the CAS screen, it will show the normal amount of traits to choose from. What you must do is load your household, then click shift left click on a sim to open up the menu to choose cheat sim info, add trait.

How to Install:
It is a regular package file that you unzip and place in your mods folder. It won't work if you don't unzip it.
Also, you must have script mods enabled. If the mod isn't working at all for you should see if those things will
fix it.

How to edit:
If you would like a different version of the mod then is available, you can always request one.If, however, you want to edit
it yourself, I have provided the instructions below.

These instructions work for windows, because that is the system that I have.I don't know if they would work for a mac, or Linux.
1.Download and install s4pe, the program that allows you to edit packages for the Sims 4, if you don't already have it.
http://sims4group.github.io/

2.Open up the version of the mod that you have with s4pe.

3.It is an ITUN file that you edit by going to Resource at the top next to File, Edit, Tools, etc.

4.Then you select notepad, and it should open up the file in notepad, as an editable text file.

5.The rest is pretty self-explanatory.The file says "slot number" next to adult, elder, young adult, etc.
Then you fill in whatever number of traits you want the sims to have next to that.

6.When you are done making changes, select exit from notepad.Don't select save as, as that will
save the file in notepad form.It will ask if you want to save your changes.Select yes.

7.Then after notebook is closed, S4pe will say that the resource has been changed and ask if you
want to commit changes.Select yes.

After that, you just save the file with the name you would like it to have by going to File, and selecting Save As.
Then you're done.

Note: You cannot add traits that conflict with each other, such as good and evil. And when adding traits to children, traits for adults or teens will either be grayed out or will simply not be added.

The list of CAS traits that can be added to a child are: Bookworm, Art Lover, Loves Outdoors, Genius, Good,Gloomy, Perfectionist,Goofball,
Cheerful,Lazy, Outgoing, Geek.Slob,Loner, Neat, Mean, Hot-headed, Glutton,Evil,Self-Assured,Creative

The list of CAS traits that can't be added to a child due to them being teen/adult traits are: Materialistic, Foodie, Bro,Ambitious,Clumsy,Snob,Family-Oriented,Non-Committal

I have tested this and played with my sims and so far the traits work as normally as if you had added them in CAS. Enjoy!
And please be gentle with me, this is my first mod, so there are sure to be errors. Constructive criticism only. Also, I monitor
this thread regularly, so I will always respond to questions and problems within 24 hours.

Thanks to TwistedMexi and clown for testing/debug cheats mods without which this mod would have been a lot harder
to make. Also to velocitygrass for their XML extractor and the brilliant S4pe makers without which I could not have made this mod.

I was hoping a mod like this would pop up. When EA had mentioned that your Sims gain new traits by completing their ambitions, I had expected you'd get to choose another trait as found in CAS, not some trait that makes life easier for them. Thanks to this mod, I should be able to customize my Sims more, like I had hoped I could have in the first place. :)

I just want to let you know that there may be some issues with this mod that needs ironing out! Having downloaded it and started using it in my game, loading screens hang for quite a few seconds and I've been crashing a lot, too. I tried removing the mod but that didn't fix it, and I've worked out it seems to have done something to my save file (if I remove the save file the game goes back to normal!) Wasn't like this beforehand. Just a heads up But thank you for your hard work nonetheless <3

First of all, I'm very sorry that happened to you.I have been using this mod for over two weeks with no issues, so I'm not sure what could
be causing that.Do you have any other mods installed that might conflict, or any new mods you installed right before this one?
Any details would be appreciated.

I have been so wishing for a mod like this. Playing with traits has always been a huge fun factor for me with the entire sims series. And the sims 4 left much to be desired in that way.

So, going to try this now. Thank you~!

Default Thank you for creating this mod... :)
I too have been hoping someone would create a Trait mod as in TS3, I used Awesome Mod and all my sims had 10 to 12 traits. Much more realistic and well-rounded to say the least. This mod will make the game just that much better.

Hello, do you have either of the debug/testing cheats mods installed that are listed on the mod description? Also, of the five mod versions you should only
install one and the mod needs to be unzipped and extracted to your sims 4 mods folder otherwise it won't work.I hope that helps and if not you can PM me.

Hello,
What version of the mod do you have installed? Because depending on the version, it will only
allow you to add a certain amount.Have you been able to add any traits, or is it just the Genius trait
that's not working? Also, check to see if testing cheats are enabled.I know the mods from TwistedMexi
and Clown are supposed to enable them automatically, but maybe there is a bug and they are not.

Do you have script mods enabled in game options? And do you have the unpackedmod folder that is required for some game mods now.
Also to test whether testing cheats are enabled type in "testingcheats true" in the cheats box.If they are
enabled the game will tell you, if not it will say something like testingcheats enabled. If nothing else works, you could type in the manual add trait cheat into
the cheat box.It goes traits.equip_trait <traitnameNoSpaces>
Example: traits.equip_trait SteelBladder

Hello,
You can not add extra CAS traits(such as genius, good, creative) in the CAS screen. Also you can't add these traits using testingcheats alone, only reward traits you
can get from the store such as morningsim, nightowl, speedreader, etc.If you try to add an additional CAS trait when you already have three (such as good or bookworm) with just testing cheats, it will not work.It won't add the trait to your sim.If you have less than three CAS traits, you could probably add a couple of CAS traits with testing cheats alone. But my mod expands that number for an adult sim from 3 to 10.
