As part of the RL Series: Houses I've Lived In...
May I present to you:

This is my Granny's House - a retirement/down-sized dwelling in Spring Hill, Florida. (aka: Sprung Hill - no offense to those who live there now... but I lived there way back when it had dirt roads and not much else!) The development started in '69, under the Mackle Brothers/Deltona "brand"; this house was built in 1971. It is less than 1000 square feet, has a carport - with a separate laundry room, and a small storage room. It is two bedrooms and one bath - though the second bedroom is hardly bigger than the bed! The yard is small. The neighborhood is packed. And every house looks the same.

And yes, the kitchen was pink and turquoise. When I lived here the "theme" of the kitchen (on towels, pot holders, magnets, wall calendar, etc) was pink flamingos - I even had a pink metal spice rack with hand-painted flamingo jars. Yes I did! This was the first real house hubs and I lived in (Thank you, Granny!) and I figured the only way to live with pink cabinets was to go all-out kitsch. So I happily kitsched the kitch, if you will

In RL there are pink upper cabinets lining the kitchen nook pictured below, and over the eating-bar counter - as I was trying to cut down on CC, I didn't include them here.

Please scroll through all the pictures to see everything this house has to offer. This upload is a copy of the lot - no sim has set foot on this lot. There is a smoke alarm, burglar alarm, phone, and everything else your sim will need for easy retirement living - it is move-in ready. Enjoy!

Necessary, and NOT included - GO get them:
Extendable Touch of Teak French Arch by tbudgett @ MTS
Magnolia Tree By Numenor @ MTS
Backless Value Tub by HL @ MTS
POÄNG Loveseat by HL @ Sims2Artists
Veil of Dreams1T Long by Mutske @ TSR
Veil of Dreams1T Short by Mutske @ TSR
Veil of Dreams1T Short by DGandy @ TSR

NOTE: If walls are missing when you first visit the lot, exit without saving and add Numenor's Unlevel Wall - #90 to your DL folder before loading this house again. Sometimes I use this wall instead of the CFE cheat when building houses.

NOTE 2: If wall/floor coverings are missing, then they are probably from the Lifestyle Build Bundle - extracted from Lifestyle Stories by Argon @ MATY. I use these all the time; but they don't package with a lot, so frequently I forget to include them

Standard mods I use that are not necessary nor included - but were probably used whilst building/photo-ing/prepping this house for upload...
I use Moi's Roof Shader for brighter roofs
Maranatah's White Wall Top texture replacement
Moo's Turn On/Off Lights
Menaceman's Lunatech Lighting Fix
BeosBoxBoy's no-red-pause-mod
I also use FRAPs to take in-game pictures, and PhotoShop to clean/collage said pictures.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Ah, Florida living at it's best! Yuk! Nicely done, though, down to the 'mold' in the bathroom. It comes from the oppressive humidity here. I'm a NY transplant, and cannot wait to get out of here!

I like your Granny's Florida retirement home. The color scheme in the kitchen and the deco concrete block wall scream mid century modern.... Great Job!

LOL! The family story is that my parents dragged me all the way across America - kicking and screaming the whole way - when we moved down here in 1974 (from Seattle, WA.)
I hated it for many years too. But then, as I got older - and spent several years living in Kentucky (which is a beautiful state, with glorious ice-storms in the winter - glorious unless you're a tree!) - I realized Florida is home.

We had the chance a few years ago to move anywhere we wanted; and we seriously thought about both Scotland or Seattle... but ultimately decided we liked it here best.

Good luck to you!

That kitchen is too crazy for my real-life tastes (cannot imagine trying to cook there, lol), but I love it in the sims!! I love it when people recreate really specific places, especially ones that they've known or lived in. Lovely work!!

It's very cute. Note for further downloads of this house: you'll have to delete the kitchen counter on which there is the diagonal sink and replace it again, yourself, and place the sink on it *before* replacing the counter where it first belonged. At first, the sink appeared clunky.
Good job, Cath'! We feel the Floridian air! Thank you! I have a couple for whom the house will fit nicely! These Sims love the American way of tropics! :D

@poisson - Really? The 'Around and Through' blocks effect doesn't convey with a fresh install of this lot? I thought it would! Hmmm, that's disappointing. I placed it in several hoods and it worked fine - but that was all within my game. Thank you for reporting back, and I'm glad you have sims who'll enjoy my Granny's house
