This download is a custom career. This means that you will need the NRaas Careers mod installed in order to use the download in your game.
So with all the hype from their teachers over their future careers, my teens have been wondering what they want to do. So I set up a series of Apprenticeships for them to help them decide!

Now the Apprenticeships are simply teen careers but pay higher than the Saturday Jobs, owing to the fact they attend these apprenticeships after school hours every weekday. So these are definitely for your studious, academic types.

You will need the Nraas Careers Mod for these Apprenticeships to show up. They're compatible with patch 1.67 and 1.69.

This pack has 10 Apprenticeships available for your teens and they all promote into a full time career. Four of them promote into Base Game careers; the other six promote into my custom careers. I'll specify further below.

*How The Promoting Works*

When your teenage Sim ages up while employed in an Apprenticeship, they will appear to stay in the apprenticeship. In order for them to get into the "Adult" career, your Sim needs to apply for the job via the Rabbithole, or on the newspaper or computer, as normal. They will appear to only be in level one of the "Adult" career when they join, but after a few moments, it will change to a different level.
If your Sim is at Level One in the apprenticeship, they will not gain any career advancement.
If your Sim is at Level Two in the apprenticeship, they will promote into Level 4 in the "Adult" career.
If your Sim is at Level Three in the apprenticeship, they will promote into Level 6 in the "Adult" career.
Please don't ask me to change this! It's the way to code works in the Careers mod and I can't change it.

The Apprenticeships

To keep things tidier, I'll hide the levels behind spoilers for each Apprenticeship.

The Accounting Apprenticeship promotes into my Accountant Career. It has 3 levels and can be found at the Business and Journalism Office. Only the Base Game is needed.

Translations

The Apprenticeships are in English and support translations in Spanish, German, Russian, French, Dutch and Chinese.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

Finally more opportunities to get the homeworld teens to work :) Thank you for all the christmas-before-the-date custom career gifts, MissyHissy :) You're our Mother Christmas in some mysterious, simmer-like way.

these look great!! But I have a question, if we don't have the custom careers for the apprenticeships, will there be any problem with having the apprenticeships without the custom careers? I mean, will they just work like a regular teen job but will give them no career promotions in the adult careers?

That's right. They're independent from the custom careers, so they simply won't promote into anything if you don't have them installed. If you wanted to change which career they do promote into, so you can assign them to base game careers, the XML edit is very simple, if you're interested.
For example, if you wanted the Accounting Apprenticeship to promote into the Business career, all you need to do is edit the following line of code:
<TransferCareer>Accountant</TransferCareer>

and change it to:
<TransferCareer>Business</TransferCareer>

Save, and put the package in your mods folder

Well I've never found a limit! I have almost all of my own installed, plus a fair number from other creators and I've never had a problem. So I think you should be good to go, my friend!

Very nice thanks! I wonder if some Occult specific apprenticeship and careers could be done but I guess it's not possible to only allow certain occults to have specific careers?

I see no reason why not. I've already done a Mage Guild career some time back. While it doesn't block non-witch sims from joining the career, it does require their skills. So I see no reason why this couldn't happen. Have you got anything in mind in particular?
