Sharmine,

It's a first-generation iPod Shuffle. Before the 2nd-gen clip-on ones came out. Actually, I'm quite surprised you're not familiar with this one (given that you're familiar with the current Shuffle). It's quite iconic back then. For the record, I don't even own one.
