Through the "seasons" EP, I have a family that are subsistence farmers- they have a HUGE garden plot, a sizeable orchard, and a pond on their land, and I've only had to buy groceries once since I bought the fridge for their house- and I'm on the eighth generation! In fact, their fridge is SO full I have turned them temporarily into an artisan community (using the OFB things for making flowers, pottery, and toys, and the FT sewing machine), selling what they make. It is a great deal of fun! So it is possible to live off the land in the sims, but you gotta set yourself up right for it.

Nice story violachic, I love to play like that too. But it is a fact that only the fish and meals made of that fish will be in the fridge right? I'm using Echo's harvestbasket and gardening stuff to fill the fridge with groceries and make it look like they are growing it themselves. It seems there will be gardening and fishing in Sims3 and the possibility to grow ingredients for meals in your own garden, now that could very well be a good reason for me to buy it!!
