I am wondering if Psychosim had the same problem I notice on a lot of cars with print (especially police cars) - the decals get reversed on one side of the car. So they look fine on one side, but tacky on the other. Was this why you chose not to add the "53" to the doors, Psychosim? Just curious. It's an amazing looking car regardless, and I downloaded it.

"I couldn't put the number on the side because it gets too strechted there", that's the 3rd line in my post, maybe that's why no one else mentioned it. Let me explain better: The mapping on most of the cars Vovillia converts for Sims is like you're looking at them from straight above, this means that the sides are only narrow stripes on the texture, maybe even just some pixels wide. To put any detail there you'd need to squish it into that space, making it very low quality if recognizable at all. If you look closely on the numbers here you can see that the 53 on the relatively flat hood looks better than the 53 on the steeper back. That's the reason why.
The problem you mentioned is what I had with the Pontiac GTO or racing Isettas [/sneaky advertising], I usually try to work around that with symmetrical names, numbers and logos.

Bleh sorry, I missed that - and I like to think I'm usually pretty good at reading everything. /sigh

Did not know that about his textures, though. I have not a clue about custom meshes and assigning textures, but would think that leaving the side panels as a thin stripe would be crippling yourself when it comes to recoloring possibilities. I have seen other cars with side graphics, but I guess from what you are saying, you couldn't really do that on Vovillia's cars? That bites. Oh well. Like I said, it's still a great looking job that you did, and I'll be using it regardless.

EDIT: Checked out those others cars you linked - I see what you mean. Still, that's very clever and they look really great!

Well, he mostly makes civil cars that wouldn't need special recolors. The way he maps is quick and easy, he wouldn't be able to convert so many cars otherwise. But lately he also used some cars that already have great mapping. For example the Ford Cortina has all sides separated. I'll make some more race cars with those when I'm in the mood.
VPN did something interesting with his race cars: Those cars are mapped the simple way but have some independent faces for the numbers and sponsors.

The required mesh for this recolor seems to be no longer available as there's a newer upload on the link for Vovillia's forum.

The original Herbie's bumpers were older type, not like these. I know because I have seen the show, and there are couple of those old beetles in my hometown.

Thank you for including the mesh, because the site to download the mesh has been either removed or sold. anywho, it's inaccessable. I was already getting frustrated, because I really wanted Herbie in my game and now I finally can. Big thanks to both you and Vovilla.
