perhaps it would have had a more "realistic" look, but it would have been less accurate, the house I grew up in had dowl joints and miter'ed corners. In Barrow warmth takes precedence over realism
easier to seal a miter'ed corner. I know the typical "imagine" for a log cabin is a cross halving joint, but honestly most of the cabins I grew up around didn't have them.
