I ran into this issue a couple of days ago when I decided I wanted to play HS, and found that plopping down a subway station did in fact nothing to reduce lag, as much as I hoped it would. I bulldozed the entire thing. Might look into the CAW files at some point, because things like this annoy me to no end. ;-)
