This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
Before using this hair, be sure your game is patched up to date, as EA fixed the hair-crashing bug in a recent update and if you're not patched up to date you may have problems.

Here's a conversion of the TS4 base game female children's 'Braided Ponytail' mesh, rescaled and reshaped to fit adult heads. They are for both genders, from Teen to Elder.

I've packaged them with the default natural EA/Maxis colours that came with the child version, plus seven additional colours of my own making. In the pic below, first we have the Maxis colours auburn, brown, golden blonde, black, orange, dark brown, red, platinum blonde, and dirty blond, followed by my additions of grey, white, and green:

To continue in the next pic, we have blue, turquoise, and two natural colours with multicoloured ponytail braids. I enjoy having assorted brightly-coloured extensions added from time to time in my own RL hair, and thought this style would look nice with colourful clip-on extensions. So we have black hair with green, yellow, blue and turquoise strands, and dark brown hair with red, purple, green, and yellow. Unfortunately because of the way EA mapped this mesh, the three main strands at the back are all the same colour, because EA mapped all three strands to one texture. So I couldn't make those strands different colours, much as I wish I could.

And as you see at the bottom of the pic, this hair is compatible with hats. It's the same as the child version of the hair - the ponytail all goes up inside the hat.

In-game, a group of ponytailed friends chat with each other, while unknown to them, across the road a mysterious alien stranger watches. (Well, when I made the white recolour for this mesh, it made me think of those evil albino twins from The Matrix 2, and aliens, and cyborgs...)

Luckily, the alien cyborg turns out to be friendly. "Greetings, puny earthlings. I greatly admire your attractive hairstyles."

Recolouring: This mesh simply uses the default texture from the child's mesh, cfHairBraidedPonytail. So you can use the same texture in the same way EA intended.

Minor issue: It was difficult to fit this tightly-fitting mesh to an adult head, and there is a small flaw at the base of the back of the neck in the form of a small patch of scalp showing through the bottom of the middle row of scalp hair. I couldn't get this to go away whatever I tried - there seems to be something different about the base of a child neck and an adult neck, which doesn't want to play nice together. There's also a tiny fleck of scalp on the right side of the head which is only noticeable if using a dark hair on light skin, or vice versa. But although these are visible in CAS, it's not very noticeable in gameplay.

Thank you for looking, hope you'll find this a useful hair.

I don't create for TS3 any more, so I won't be doing that, but any TS3 creator is free to extract the original girl's mesh and textures from the TS4 base game and convert them for TS3 for whatever ages they want. You could look in the TS3 Creators Who Take Requests thread to see if anyone does hair meshes, or ask in Where Can I Find to see if someone has converted it for TS3 - it's possible that it's already been done.

That poster didn't thank me; his post was a Feedback post, not a Thanks post. I wasn't being unkind in my reply; indeed I stated that he had some good ideas and recommended he take them to the Creation Forum. I think he has good ideas but my upload threads are not the place for them.

ETA: NVM, I've removed my reply to that poster because it's not worth having any hassle...!

Thanks so much for creating this hairstyle (and acknowledging different hair types) but could you please not call them "dreads"?
I feel that it is just spreading misinformation. Thank you

Ah, thank you for the reminder, actually - I meant to do that a while back but because I made these such a long time ago, I completely forgot. I've now changed the thread title and also changed the file name. The zip file name still says 'Dreads' because changing the zip name will mess up the stats on the Download tab, but the internal package file inside the zip file now just says Braided Ponytail. Hope that fixes any confusion. I'm just not 'hairstyle name' conscious enough, I guess. I know what I like, but I might not always know what the correct name for it is!

Click on the tab called 'Files', and then within that tab, click on whichever of the two hairs (men's or women's) you want to download. Your browser will then download it. If you want both hairs, download one of them and when it's finished, then click on the other one to download it too.
