This looks really great I am wondering if we can choose to keep the book on top of the bookcase and and have the recolours still?? becuase I like the book on top of the bookcase

As far as the cabinet recolors are concerned, I'm afraid not. The book on the top was removed from the replacement mesh, and the cabinet recolors Michelle made for that mesh don't have the texturing for the book on the top. While they would probably fit the Maxis mesh, they wouldn't look right on it, so I didn't have the CEP Extra I made for that mesh use them.

I have seen a few different versions of this item. I actually downloaded 2 of them. My issue is this (and it's not mentioned in your description): Not all of the options are available with the custom bookcase as are available on the original career reward object. Test it for yourself. The career reward bookcase allows the sim to study ALL of the skills by reading from the bookcase including charisma, body, logic, and creativity. I have yet to find a custom bookcase that offers all of them. Both of the ones I downloaded previously (and since deleted) contained more options than a regular bookcase, but neither one of them offered ALL of the skills the way the career reward bookcase does.

*I'm not referring to hidden skills like dancing. I'm talking about just the ones that are visible in a sim's skill tab. All of my sims use the Education bookcase (using a cheat to unlock the career rewards) because I like them being able to earn all of the skills by reading.

@sashagillis: All this does is change the appearance of the career reward bookcase. It has no effect on the custom bookcase; the game still sees them as two different objects. Yes, one version is "slaved" to the custom bookcase, but that only means that it pulls its textures from the custom bookcase -- which means that it can use any recolors made for the custom bookcase. As far as functions are concerned, the two objects are still completely separate.
