If you want to have a go at getting that to work, then sure. Just make sure to credit me if/when you succeed.
It might be a little more in depth than it first seems though because I think you would need to create a new inventory type that only stores seed packets as I don't know of one that already exists.

This works perfectly with Seasons. It shouldn't break with patches unless EA change how the original garden planters work.

It works fine with Seasons. I just checked in my game. It uses mostly Maxis tuning with the"plant" functionality removed.

It should do. It just runs off of the EA code for planters but with the planting function removed.
