The buildings are overgrown with vibrantly green vines. Looks interesting but not quite apocalyptic.

I like this. Might start experimenting with skylines myself. Not so much to add apocalyptic effects, but just to make the background not so overly blue.

I'd also like a way to change the way sunlight itself works, so shadows aren't so blue and highlight-shadow contrasts don't look so cartoony.

Then what would a skyline make it look apocalyptic? It was my first try EVER, so suggestions are welcome.

Haha, played Crysis 3 too, also reminds me of The Last of Us.

The blue-ish thing happens all by itself. You can't fix it by changing the background texture, but like you already said maybe by changing how sunlight works in game. Though I don't know how to accomplish that. But I wish you good luck with it!

I'm confused why the buildings look overgrown, suggesting that it happened a long time ago. Yet there seem to be attacks/explosions going on. And a lot of them, suggesting it's currently in the process.
If it's post-apocalyptic, I'd say keep the growth and maybe have some buildings look partially collapsed.
If it's currently happening, then my suggestion would be to remove the green and focus on the chaos/attack aspect. And perhaps change the sky in a way that it feels as though it's filled with dust and smoke.

It's a nice idea, though =D

Thanks for the suggestions I will keep this in mind if I would make new ones.

Why does there have to be a building on fire?
The buildings with vines are perfectly fine.

I will be making new ones sometime, as more people mentioned about the fact that it's overgrown AND on fire, doesn't make any sense.
And everybody is totally right about it of course.
So I will be making one with fire and smoke an no plants/trees and one with plants and trees and no fire. But I've got some other projects too, so I don't know when they will be released.

Thanks, I will be making some more apocalyptic over time. As in the Prehistoric days there were no buildings, maybe you would like my Backdrop Remover. So there are no buildings at all!

This is very nice indeed. Thank you for this upload. ^^
I just wish there was one with a red sky though...

Boredom is certainly the most dangerous poison in this world. Would you not agree?

I did try to change the color of the sky around the city, but because it's just a very low mesh, it looked very bad as the color suddenly stopped, even when slightly fading out towards the borders.
Maybe I can try sometime to make it taller, but not in near future I'm afraid.
