Hmmm... Thanks for the feedback. Looking at the bunk bed files again, I can sort of figure why this happens. The bunk beds use entirely new BHAVs because of the extra animations that are needed until Sims can actually sleep. The Smart Beds mod, of course, does not change those, so the bunk beds will always be out of the control of that mod and may thus not play nicely with the code. I said earlier that the beds and Smart Beds would not conflict. I suppose I was a bit rash to say that. I apologise for that.

What happens if you take Smart Beds out as a test?
Also out of curiosity: Would using the Sleep In Your Own Bed Mod by Simler90 instead of Smart Beds make any difference? It shouldn't by logic because the same BHAVs are modifed, but apparently Smart Beds doesn't work as reliably?

When I take smart beds out it's pretty much all over the place. Sometimes they sleep in the bed they slept in before, sometimes they choose other beds that have been occupied by someone else since the day they moved in, and sometimes they go for the new bunk beds.
With simler90's Sleep In Your Own Bed mod and the bunk beds in I get constant "too many iterations" errors.

Alright, the behaviour without any mods seems to prove to me that the bunk beds' advertisement is correctly set to be the exact same as the lower beds. The standard bed ownership code, as explained by Simler90 on his mod page, is broken and actually produces random results, rather than checking for the relationship with the bed as it was intended.

Squishing this issue once and for all will require some major modding work because of all the custom coding of Michelle's bunk beds (and the Grand Trianon original that they were all cloned from). Parts of it will need to be included and modified in simler90's code to make it work at all without throwing those errors, and in twojeffs' code to include the bunk beds in the fixed bed ownership routine.

I'm afraid there's no easy way out of this... but my mod will still be needed in the end, because the broken advertisement values would've still led to issues in the end.
