This is pretty cool! I hadn't noticed the lack of ice-paint until you mentioned it, and now that I think on it, this can come in handy.

AHHH, I love this and this solves the mystery of *how* you got a sim to pose in skates on a 'skating rink' which I wondered ever since I saw your entry

Haha yeah, I used this paint and treeag's "Box of skates". Sims can pose with skates on with no problem, you just need an OMSP to lift them up a bit so that the blade on the leg they're standing on shows (it sinks into the ground normally). I used #10 big shiftable one from this set, it was just the right height. Don't save with sims on them though, the lot will not load again!

Here's the trick, maybe it comes in handy for someone else. I'm sure though there are other uses that can be found for this ground cover

Thanks for the tip! I tried to make a really cool skating rink with like centerpeices and stuff awhile back but it didn't work out. At least with this I can try making a purely deco one

Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.

You can make it functional by putting the aforementioned box of skates near the entrance to the rink. Just direct your sim to ice skate. They won't skate themselves though, you'll have to direct them to "Go here". And no couple twirling

Another major downside is that I haven't found out how to protect outside rinks from snow. Sims will still skate, but when they're knee deep in snow, it doesn't look that realistic. If anyone can help me out with this, be my guest.
