Oh, really, why do they always put this thing on the ground? I never find it anymore and it gets lost forever. (Well, not forever, but you get my point.)
That would be enough reason to get this new mod of yours imho.

Will this replace the scannergunhack from MATY? It sounds like it does a similar thing, but in a different way. Is there any effect on the jump which causes the scanner to vanish?

From the MATY readme:
Sims will now put the scanner gun back where they found it rather than ditching
it godknowswhere. If it gets dropped, it will be automatically moved back to
its original resting place. Sims will refrain from scanning objects likely to
disappear on them, like things thare in use, and vehicles. If an object manages
to disappear anyway while being scanned, the sim will gracefully stop scanning
things rather than jump and lose the scanner, their hat, and their queue.

I'm really sorry that I'm writing this on this post... but I don't know why but I can't write a comment at your Lot Visit Mod comment page.. I'm just wondering if I can use that mod with MATW's local walkbys. Are they compatible??

I would also very much like to know the answer to this question. I've used scannergunhack for years and I've wanted Science enthusiasm from the scanner for almost as long! I can only assume the two mods conflict (it seems impossible that they would not) and I think we can all agree we need a fix for that vanishing scanner bug. Can we get a confirmation on if that fix is included in this mod as well?

Hi. Just found that the mod clash with the functional guns from SimsWardrobe und Ja (BANG) and probpably other based on the fingerprint scanner. If mod is installed, guns will not be dropped anymore after use. The Sim runs around endlessly, trying to find a place where to put the object. No error with degug mode either. Conflict is code based, but will not be reported by HcduPlusV2.4.

[update 05.06.2023]
Managed to make the guns compatible again, which will be dropped on a surface now and not immediately on the ground, as originally.
1. export BHAV CT - Reach - Drop from the fingerprint mod.
2. import the BHAV into your gun package file.
3. on the resource tab, change the group to 0xFFFFFFFF.
save file. done.
