HCDUPlus reports a conflict with Monique's "Work Bring Home Friend Query" mod. I read your advice on fixing that class of mod conflicts, but unfortunately I am nowhere near skilled enough to attempt it and would be likely to bollix things up. Can't risk it, so I guess that's that...for now. :-(

This mod is basically exactly what I've been looking for ever since I came back to Sims 2 a couple of months ago, and here it is, under my nose the whole time!

However, I don't really like all the details of it... I don't particularly like the idea of a half degree getting you any credit... "diploma" style. And I'd move a few of the other jobs in to other categories. Is there a way I can fairly easily tune this mod to my liking? Are there simple lists of the careers in a file somewhere, that I can simply copy and paste each career from one group to another?

I'm from Australia, where a degree is usually 3 years and the fourth year is extra, so I have lots of sims that drop out after their third year (though I've left the mod at 2 years as with the original as I know many others use it differently).

As for your question, it is possible to edit the mod to your liking. Getting rid of the half degree is fairly simple - open up the mod in SimPE and find the BCON file. There are a bunch of numbers in there for the maximum level for each category - just set the half degree numbers to the same as the high school C ones and it will work the way you want.

Moving careers around is a bit more complicated. It requires looking up the GUIDs for each career you want to move and editing the code with simpe. In one of the comments I included a link to instructions to add custom careers to the mod - you'll need to follow those to add any career you want moved into the category you want it, and then reverse those instructions to remove it from wherever I've put it. You'll need a list of the GUIDs for each EA career, which I have somewhere but I'm not sure where. If I find it I'll add it here.

You might've already gotten it, but for anyone interested, a merged version is available here.

I'm afraid I'm not sure what the issue is - it doesn't happen in my game. Does it happen with every hobby chance card, or just some? Every sim? Every career/ career level?

I encountered this error too. My sim at medicine level 5 got the same chance card (tinkering 5) and was also supposed to be promoted. I haven't encountered this with any other sim iirc but it's been a couple of weeks since I last played. Here's the log.

It turns out that this mod was not correctly unlocking the university careers for sims who (a) don't have a degree and (b) live in a household where no-one has a degree. Luckily a very simple fix already exists: download Lamare's getUniCareerWithoutEducation from here and all will work beautifully. To minimise potential conflicts I'm not going to combine them, but just get both in any order.

I also recommend the other mods on the same page for those interested - I've been using them and really enjoying them - but they're a bit more effort to get working.
